Overview

What the Claude Granted connector changes for grant seekers

Grant research usually means many browser tabs: federal portals, state lists, foundation profiles, annual returns. With this connector, you describe your organization and your project to Claude in plain words, and it queries Granted's database itself, opens the grants and funders worth a closer look, and brings the findings back into the conversation.

A shortlist of open calls. A development director at a rural health nonprofit asks for funding that fits a maternal health program. search_grants looks by topic, funder or eligibility, then get_grant pulls the full details of the promising ones so Claude can compare them side by side.

A funder worth approaching. A small arts charity wants foundations that give in its state. search_funders searches foundations by name, state or giving, and get_funder opens a profile with financials and recent grants, the material Claude needs to judge whether a letter of inquiry makes sense.

A read on the competition. Before a federal application, a research lab asks who has won similar awards. get_past_winners returns federal grant recipients, and Claude summarizes the pattern.

What it does not do: Granted states that all five tools are read-only. Claude does not submit applications, save a search to an account or contact a funder through this connector. The data leans on United States sources, with federal, state and private foundation grants. Nothing runs by itself either: Claude searches when you ask, and no alert goes out when a new grant appears. Recurring watches belong to an automation tool, a different line of work gathered on the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will run into while adding Granted.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an outside service, so Claude can call on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude decides which ones to use; the directory lists every one of them by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you grant the access Claude will use later. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it completes something that changes an account, shown in the conversation at that point.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Granted.
Connect

Add Granted to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Granted in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Granted in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization before members can connect.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row. Granted says its service needs no account and no key, so there may be little or nothing to sign in to. If the link ever breaks, Disconnect it and connect again.

  3. 03

    Check any authorization screen

If an authorization screen does appear, read it before you accept. It belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it is what sets how far the access goes. You can withdraw that access later from the service side as well.

Tools

The 5 tools, sorted by what they do

Granted gives Claude 5 tools: 5 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

All five read data from Granted. Their names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

search_grants

Looks for open grant opportunities, and you can steer the search by keyword, topic, funder or eligibility so that Claude gets back a list it can sort through with you.

When it helps
after a shortlist, you want the complete entry for the two calls that seem closest to your project before you commit staff time.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it would carry out on an account for you. Here, Granted describes every tool as read-only, so its sheet shows no change that would need confirming.

On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked every time, and they can limit what any connector may do for the whole organization; nobody overrides that from a personal account. Claude also works with the rights of the person connected and nothing more. With Granted there is no private account content to reach in the first place: the tools query grant and funder data.

Plans

Which plans it is available on

Not one of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere: a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members connect. Granted's own page says something narrower, set against that rule in the limits below. For the live status, the Granted sheet in the official directory is the place to check.

Limits

Where the Claude Granted connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing starts on its own when a new grant is published.

Only Granted documents this connector; Claude's help center has no article on it. A sheet that shows nothing but reading is an observed floor, not a promise, because an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic writes on every sheet that it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes or guarantee how they behave. Connect it only if you trust the publisher.

Two official sources disagree

Which Claude plans can use Granted?

What this page followsNeither side settles it for your account. Granted's sentence is about adding the service as a custom connector, while Anthropic's rule covers connectors in the directory. Check the Granted sheet in the directory while signed in to your own account.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Granted connector

01What can Claude do with the Granted connector?
Claude can search grant opportunities, open a grant's full record, search foundations, open a funder profile with financials and recent grants, and look up past winners of federal awards. You ask in plain language, for example for funding that fits a program in a given state, and Claude picks the right tool and reports back. Granted says every tool runs on the same discovery pipeline as its own website, including live web search. All five tools read Granted's data.
02Can Claude apply for a grant or change anything through Granted?
No tool on the sheet does that. Granted states that all five tools are read-only, so Claude can find, compare and summarize, but not submit an application or edit a record. A sheet limited to reading is still a floor rather than a ceiling, since an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet. Writing the application itself stays with you, with Claude helping on the draft in the conversation if you want.
03Does Claude ask before it uses these tools?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before any action it would carry out on an account for you. With Granted, every listed tool reads grant data, and no source describes a confirmation specific to one of them, so the default rule is what applies. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let certain actions through without confirmation and can restrict what the connector may do for everyone.
04Which Claude plans is the Granted connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Granted's own page names specific plans for the custom connector route, which the limits section sets against that rule. The directory sheet is what shows your status.
05Does Claude see my organization's data through Granted?
There is no organization data involved here. Granted describes its service as needing no account and no key: the tools query grant, foundation and award data, not files or records that belong to you. Claude still works within the rights of the person connected and nothing more. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners can also restrict what the connector may do for everyone in the organization, and nobody overrides that from a personal account.
06Is there a daily limit on Granted through Claude?
Yes, a shared daily budget. Granted says anonymous clients share 200 tool calls and 25 live AI-discovery searches per day; past the search budget, grant search keeps working from its database without the live AI layer, and the 200-call cap is a hard ceiling that resets within 24 hours. Granted offers dedicated limits with a personal key, but notes that claude.ai's hosted connector screen cannot send one yet. These limits are set by Granted, not by Claude.
07Should I use Claude or an automation tool to track grants?
They do different jobs, so this is not a ranking. Claude with Granted fits exploratory research: you describe a project, it searches, compares and explains, and you refine as you go. An automation tool fits a standing watch that runs on a schedule and notifies someone without you asking. The connector never fires by itself, so recurring monitoring belongs on the automation side while the reasoning stays in the conversation.
