Overview

What the Claude Grasp connector changes for deal teams

Private-market research usually means building a list in one tool, cleaning it in a spreadsheet and chasing contacts in a third place. With this connector, you describe the thesis to Claude and it works inside Grasp for you: it builds tables of companies, buyers or transactions, filters and queries them, adds research columns, pulls profiles and contacts, and exports the result.

A target list from a thesis. A private equity associate asks for software companies in the Nordics above a revenue threshold. grasp_create_table starts the build in the background, grasp_check_job_status reports when it is ready, and grasp_query_table answers follow-up questions with read-only SQL.

An existing list, enriched. A corporate development team uploads a conference prospect list through grasp_import_table, then grasp_add_research_column asks the same custom question about every company on it.

The right people to call. Once targets are picked, grasp_get_company pulls each profile and grasp_search_contacts finds decision-makers at their domains.

What it does not do: Grasp's documentation lists four more tools, such as a company search and a buyer deal history, that the Claude sheet does not expose, so some flows Grasp describes are not reachable here. Access needs an active Grasp subscription with an assigned seat. And nothing runs on its own schedule: Claude only acts while it answers you, so no list refreshes itself overnight. Recurring jobs belong to an automation tool, a different job presented from the Integrations hub.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you will see while connecting Grasp.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector gives Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory lists them all by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Granted once per person, and you can revoke it.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it goes ahead with something that changes your account, shown in the chat at that moment.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude work with an outside service such as Grasp.
Connect

Connect Grasp to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Grasp in Claude

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and look for Grasp in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner must enable the connector before members can sign in to it.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Grasp

Click Connect on its row, then log in to your Grasp account in the window Grasp opens itself. If the connection ever breaks, use Disconnect and connect again.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Grasp, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers: reading tables, changing them, exporting, running research. You can withdraw it later from Grasp too.

What Claude reads (10)

10 tools

Ten tools that look at tables, companies, contacts and job status without changing anything.

grasp_read_docs

Opens Grasp's built-in reference on schemas, entity types, source filters, data columns, financials, research columns, SQL, exports and common validation errors, so a request can be checked against what Grasp expects.

When it helps
you ask for an unusual filter and want to know which source filters Grasp actually supports.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_check_job_status

Polls a background job by its identifier. Once the job succeeds, Claude gets the table handles, row and column details and a small preview to show you.

When it helps
a target list of software companies is still building and you want to know whether it is ready to filter.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_get_table

Returns a table's metadata: its exact columns and their types, version details, the row count and a short preview. Claude learns the shape of the data without pulling every row into the conversation.

When it helps
before asking questions about a buyer list, you want to know which financial columns it contains.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_list_tables

Shows the tables you created most recently, with their source types, row and column counts, versions and links into the Grasp app.

When it helps
on Monday morning you want to pick up the deal research table you started on Friday.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_get_table_rows

Reads rows page by page, with structured filters, one sort order and an optional choice of visible columns, so Claude only brings back the slice it needs.

When it helps
from a long target list you only want the companies in one country, sorted by revenue.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_query_table

Runs read-only SQL against your Grasp tables. Claude turns your plain-language question into a SELECT statement and answers from the computed result.

When it helps
you want the median revenue of the companies on a shortlist, broken down by country, without opening a spreadsheet.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_describe_table

Produces aggregate value summaries for the columns you pick, computed across the full table, which gives Claude an overview without fetching rows.

When it helps
an associate wants to know how the employee counts in a target list are distributed before setting a cut-off.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_export_table

Turns a table, or one of its versions, into an Excel file and returns a signed download link. The table itself stays as it was.

When it helps
the partner reviewing a shortlist works in Excel and wants the file attached to the investment memo.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_search_contacts

Looks up people at known company domains and returns names, titles, seniority, email or phone where available, and LinkedIn profiles.

When it helps
after picking five acquisition targets, you need the right decision-makers to approach at each one.
Watch out
Grasp says this contact data comes from Apollo.io and that people can opt out or ask for removal.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_get_company

Retrieves a company profile by its company ID: identity, business, latest financials, employees, a compact ownership view and an acquisition-history summary, with optional sections on similar companies and contacts.

When it helps
you want a one-page brief on a target before a first call.
Watch out
it needs an ID from a table column or from a search tool that the Claude sheet does not list.

What Claude changes (6)

6 tools

Six tools that build, alter or cancel work in your account. No source describes a confirmation specific to any of them, so the general rule below applies.

grasp_create_table

Approval: see the rule

Starts a company, buyer or transaction table from a single search source. It runs in the background and hands back a job identifier; company and buyer tables come with recent revenue or asset evidence columns by default.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation for this tool, so the general approval rule applies.
When it helps
turning an investment thesis such as Nordic SaaS companies into a first list.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_import_table

Approval: see the rule

Builds a company table from rows parsed out of a CSV or Excel sheet, matching each company by its website or domain and keeping the columns you uploaded.

What Claude asks for
Grasp documents no confirmation here, so the default rule described further down covers it.
When it helps
you already have a prospect list from a conference and want Grasp's data on each name.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_compose_table

Approval: see the rule

Assembles a new table from rows of tables you already have. Each component can pin a version, filter rows and map columns.

What Claude asks for
no confirmation specific to this tool is documented anywhere, so the general approval rule is what applies.
When it helps
merging a buyer list and a target list into one universe for a sell-side mandate.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_update_table

Approval: see the rule

Changes an existing table version: its workflow, view filters, sort and layout, its name or its description.

What Claude asks for
the sources say nothing about a confirmation for this change, so it falls under the default approval rule.
When it helps
renaming a working table before sharing it and hiding the columns the team does not need.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_add_research_column

Approval: see the rule

Adds one AI research column to an existing table. The research then runs for every eligible row, answering the same custom question company by company.

What Claude asks for
nothing in Grasp's documentation describes a confirmation here, so the general rule on approvals covers it.
When it helps
asking, for each company on a list, whether it sells to public-sector buyers.

Sourcegrasp-ai.com · June 7, 2026 ↗

grasp_cancel_job

Approval: see the rule

Stops a background job before it starts, so a table build or research run that you no longer need never begins.

What Claude asks for
no source spells out a confirmation for cancelling, so the default approval rule is the one that applies.
When it helps
you notice a typo in the search criteria right after launching a build.
Watch out
Grasp describes cancelling a pending job, not one already running.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it carries out on an account for you. That covers the six tools that build, adjust, combine, enrich, import or cancel, since no source sets a different rule for them.

On Team and Enterprise, workspace owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked each time, and they can limit what a connector may do across the organization, for instance keeping reading open while closing changes. Nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with your Grasp rights and nothing more, and Grasp's own permission scopes separate reading tables, changing them, exporting and running research.

Plans

Which plans it is available on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere: a real gap in the catalogue.

The general rule is published: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector for the organization before members connect. For the current status of this one, check the Grasp sheet in the official directory. On the Grasp side, access also requires an active subscription and a seat.

Limits

Where the Claude Grasp connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; no table rebuilds itself when new deals are announced.

Only Grasp documents this connector; Claude's help center has no article on it. A list of tools is an observed floor, not a promise, since an administrator can open actions no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic says on every sheet that it neither chooses the tools a publisher exposes nor guarantees how they behave, so connect it only if you trust the publisher.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Grasp connector

01What can Claude do with the Grasp connector?
Claude can build tables of companies, buyers or transactions, import a spreadsheet, combine existing tables, add AI research columns, and then inspect, filter, summarize and query those tables with read-only SQL. It can also pull company profiles, search contacts at known domains and export a table to Excel. You describe what you are looking for in plain language, and Claude picks the tools and reports back in the conversation. Table builds run in the background and return a job ID.
02Can Claude change or delete anything in my Grasp workspace?
Six tools change your workspace: they build a table, import one, combine tables, adjust a table version, add a research column or cancel a pending job. None of the sixteen tools listed on the sheet deletes a table. Exporting produces a download link and leaves the table untouched. A list of tools is a floor rather than a ceiling, though, since an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows.
03Does Claude ask before it builds or changes a table?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before each action it carries out on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation specific to any Grasp tool, so this default rule covers the six that change your workspace. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked, and they can block the changing tools for the whole organization while keeping reading open.
04Which Claude plans is the Grasp connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. The Grasp sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows its current status. Grasp separately requires an active subscription and a seat.
05Does Claude see everything in our Grasp account?
No. Claude works with the Grasp rights of the person who connected and nothing more, and the tables it lists are the ones that user created most recently. Grasp separates its permissions into scopes for reading tables, changing them, exporting and running research, so the sign-in decides what Claude can reach. Each person needs their own active subscription and assigned seat. On Team and Enterprise, owners can also restrict what the connector may do for the whole organization.
06Does Grasp limit how often Claude can call its tools?
Yes: Grasp applies hourly limits by tool family, and they are Grasp's own, not Claude's. Its defaults are 60 table operations per hour, 120 exports, 600 company or contact lookups, and 3,600 reads or job-status checks. The lookup family covers grasp_get_company and grasp_search_contacts, and the read and status families each allow the highest volume. Grasp says these values are configurable, so if your team regularly runs into them, the person who manages your Grasp account is the one to ask.
07Should I use Claude or an automation tool with Grasp?
They do different jobs, so this is not a ranking. Claude with Grasp suits research you steer as you go: you state a thesis, look at the first list, refine the filters, ask for profiles and contacts. An automation tool suits work that must run on a schedule or follow an event without anyone asking, such as a weekly refresh. The connector never fires by itself, so unattended jobs belong on the automation side.
