Overview

Payment questions answered without the dashboard

A customer says they paid, finance wants yesterday's settlement, support needs the status of a refund. Each question usually means logging into the Paytm merchant dashboard and filtering. With the connector, you ask Claude, it queries your merchant account with the right tool and answers in the conversation.

Settle a "did it go through?" dispute. Give Claude the order ID and fetch_order_status returns the transaction status. If you only have the transaction ID from the customer's receipt, fetch_order_by_transaction_id finds the order behind it.

Reconcile a settlement. The accountant asks what landed between two dates. fetch_settlements_by_date brings summary-style settlement lines, and fetch_settlement_orders the settlement bill list, so Claude can lay them side by side.

Follow a payment link. A shop sent a link by email last week. fetch_payment_links pulls its details and fetch_transactions_by_link_id shows what was paid through it.

Now the part the directory sheet leaves out. By default the sheet only exposes looking things up: none of the 12 listed tools creates a payment link, starts a refund or cancels a subscription, even though Paytm's own docs describe tools that do. Order lists cover 30 days at a time. And nothing runs on its own when a payment fails. For that kind of watch, you need an automation tool, which is a different trade; the Integrations hub gathers that side.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words you'll meet while plugging Paytm in.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named action a connector opens to Claude. Claude picks the ones it needs on its own; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
The service's own sign-in screen, where you hand Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, and you can take it back.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it finishes something that changes your account, shown in the chat when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as Paytm.
Connect

Plug Paytm into Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Paytm in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize, then Connectors, and look for Paytm Payment Gateway in the list. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable the connector first, then each member signs in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in to Paytm in the window Paytm opens itself. If that link ever breaks later on, use Disconnect and plug it back in.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Read the authorization screen before you accept. It belongs to Paytm, not to Claude, so Paytm decides what the access covers. Changed your mind? Withdraw it later from the Paytm side.

Tools

The 12 tools, sorted by what they do

Paytm Payment Gateway gives Claude 12 tools: 11 that read your account, 0 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.

Two groups: what Claude reads, and one name no official source describes. The names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

What Claude reads (11)

11 tools

Eleven tools that look up your merchant data without changing it.

fetch_all_orders

Returns the list of orders placed on your merchant account within a date range. Claude can then count, group or spot the odd one out in the batch.

When it helps
the operations lead wants every order from the first half of the month before a sales review.
Watch out
Paytm caps the range at 30 days, so a quarter takes several questions.

fetch_payment_options

Lists which payment methods are available for a given transaction on your account. You see what the customer could actually choose from at checkout.

When it helps
a buyer says their preferred method was missing, and support wants to check what the checkout offered for that transaction.

Sourcepaytmpayments.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

fetch_card_bin_details

Checks whether the first digits of a card, the BIN, belong to a valid card, according to Paytm. Claude reports back what Paytm returns for that prefix.

When it helps
a developer testing checkout wants to confirm that a test prefix is recognised before blaming the integration.
Watch out
Paytm's own example uses the prefix 411111; only share card prefixes, never full numbers.

fetch_order_status

Looks up the transaction status attached to one order ID on your merchant account. It is the quickest answer to "did this customer really pay?"

When it helps
a customer calls the shop with an order number and insists the money left their account.
Watch out
you need the order ID; with only a transaction ID, use the lookup by transaction instead.

Sourcepaytmpayments.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

fetch_refund_status

Checks where a refund you already started stands, for a given order. Claude tells you the current state Paytm reports.

When it helps
a customer emails for the third time about a refund and support wants a factual answer before replying.
Watch out
starting a refund is documented by Paytm through another tool that is not on the directory sheet.

fetch_subscription_status

Returns the status and the details of one subscription on your merchant account. Claude can explain whether it is running and what it contains.

When it helps
a gym member says their monthly plan stopped, and the front desk wants to see what Paytm holds before calling back.
Watch out
pausing or cancelling a subscription is not among the listed tools.

Sourcepaytmpayments.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

fetch_order_by_transaction_id

Finds the full order behind a transaction ID. Useful when the customer shows you a receipt with the transaction reference but not your order number.

When it helps
a marketplace seller receives a screenshot of a payment and needs to match it to the right order in their records.

Sourcepaytmpayments.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

fetch_settlement_orders

Brings back the settlement bill list for a range of settled dates. Claude can total them or flag a day that looks off.

When it helps
the accountant closes the month and asks for the bills of the last ten days to match against bank deposits.

Sourcepaytmpayments.com · September 30, 2026 ↗

fetch_settlements_by_date

Returns the settlement transactions for a settled date range, as summary lines. It gives the reconciliation view rather than order-level detail.

When it helps
a finance manager wants a quick settlement summary for the first ten days of the month.
Watch out
pair it with the settlement bill list when a figure doesn't match the bank.

Undocumented (1)

1 tool

The directory publishes this name and nothing else. No official text says what it does, and a name is not enough to guess.

fetch_refunds

This name appears in the directory's tool list, and that is all anyone publishes about it. Paytm's documentation never uses this exact name, and no Claude page mentions it, so this page says nothing more.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approval rule covers it.
Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it carries out on an account for you. The request shows up in the chat, at the moment it matters.

On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether a member can let some actions through without being asked every time. They can also restrict what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keep lookups open and close anything that changes data, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Paytm's docs add that you review what the client can access on the authorization screen. And Claude works with the merchant login you connected, nothing more.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. The connector-by-connector answer is published nowhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue, not a miss in our research.

The general rule is public: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization before each member can sign in. For the current state of this one, check the Paytm Payment Gateway sheet in the official directory.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you: nothing starts when a payment fails, a refund completes or a settlement lands.

Only Paytm documents this connector; no Claude help page covers it. By default the sheet only exposes lookups, which is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet. The directory badge is not a security audit either, and Anthropic says so on every sheet: it does not choose the tools a publisher exposes. For comparison with another connector, see the Claude activecampaign connector.

Two official sources disagree

Which tools does the Paytm connector actually give Claude?

What this page followsNeither is stale: the sheet shows what the listed connector gives Claude, while Paytm describes its whole server. For Claude, the directory sheet is what counts, so don't expect the writing tools. Check the tool list under Configure on your own account before relying on either.

FAQ

Claude Paytm Payment Gateway connector: frequently asked questions

01What can Claude do with the Paytm Payment Gateway connector?
Claude can look up your Paytm merchant data from a conversation. Eleven documented tools cover order lists over a date range, order status by order ID, orders by transaction ID, payment options, card BIN checks, payment links and their transactions, refund status, subscription status, and settlement bills and summaries. A twelfth tool is listed without any description. With that, Claude answers payment questions and helps reconcile settlements without you opening the merchant dashboard.
02Can Claude create payment links, refund or cancel in Paytm?
Not with the tools on the directory sheet. By default, all eleven documented tools only look things up, and none creates a link, starts a refund or cancels a subscription. Paytm's own documentation describes tools that do those things, but they do not appear on the sheet read in September 2026. That is an observed floor, not a hard limit: an administrator can open actions that appear on no public sheet, so check the tool list under Configure.
03Does Claude ask before it uses a Paytm tool?
By default, Claude asks for confirmation before each action it carries out on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation specific to one Paytm tool, so this default rule applies to all twelve. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners decide whether members can let certain actions through without being asked. They can also limit what the connector may do for the whole organization, and a member cannot undo that setting from their own account.
04Which Claude plans is the Paytm connector available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector for the organization first, then each member signs in. The connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows the current state for your account.
05Does Claude see every merchant account our company has on Paytm?
No, Claude sees what the merchant login you connected can see, and nothing more. You sign in through the Paytm merchant dashboard with your email, password and a one-time code, and Claude works inside that access. Paytm also describes granular permissions and temporary tokens that expire on their own. On Team and Enterprise, an owner can restrict what the connector may do for everyone, and a member cannot lift that from their account.
06Why can't Claude list a whole quarter of Paytm orders at once?
Because Paytm limits the order list to a date range of 30 days. Ask for one window of up to 30 days at a time, then the next window, and let Claude compare the batches. The same logic helps with settlements: summary lines for a date range come from one tool, the settlement bill list from another, and asking for both over the same short period makes a mismatch easier to spot.
07Claude or an automation tool for Paytm?
They don't do the same job, so it depends on the task. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask about an order or a settlement, it looks it up and answers, and nothing else happens once you stop typing. It never reacts on its own to a failed payment or a new refund. For a job that runs in the background on an event, an automation tool is the fit. For answers on demand during your working day, the connector is the right choice.
