Overview

What the Claude ActiveCampaign connector changes for a marketer

Most questions about your audience mean clicking through contacts, lists and reports. With the connector, you ask Claude in plain words, and it reads ActiveCampaign itself: a contact's record, the opens and clicks from a campaign, which automation someone is stuck in. It can also act on what it finds, adding a tag, subscribing a contact to a list or starting an automation for them.

Campaign numbers before the stand-up. Claude pulls engagement with list_email_activities and campaign records with list_campaigns, then sums up what the last send did, in two lines.

Clean up after an event. Paste a list of attendees and Claude adds or updates each person with create_or_update_contact, then applies the event tag with add_tag_to_contact.

Unstick a journey. get_contact_automation shows where a contact sits in an automation, and remove_contact_from_automation takes them out if they should not be there.

What it will not do matters as much. The directory sheet lists no tool to design an automation, write an email or delete a contact: Claude can enroll a person in an automation that already exists, not build one. ActiveCampaign's own list of tools goes further, with deals and pipelines, but those names are not on the Claude sheet, so this page leaves them out. Nothing runs by itself either: no tool fires when someone opens an email. That kind of flow belongs to an automation tool, a different job, covered by the ActiveCampaign n8n integration and ActiveCampaign Make integration.

Vocabulary

Five words to know before connecting ActiveCampaign

The Claude vocabulary this page relies on, in one minute.

Connector
A link you set up once between Claude and an account you already have, so Claude can work in that account while it answers you.
Tool
One named action the connector lets Claude take in ActiveCampaign. Claude picks what it needs on its own; the directory sheet lists every name.
Authorization
The ActiveCampaign sign-in and approval screen where you grant Claude its access. Given once per person, and withdrawn the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for in the conversation before it goes ahead with something that alters your account.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant like Claude talk to an outside service such as ActiveCampaign.
Connect

Connect ActiveCampaign to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find ActiveCampaign in the list

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for ActiveCampaign. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization before members can each sign in.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on the ActiveCampaign row. The service then walks you through its own sign-in and approval. If the link breaks later, Disconnect and connect again; access can also be withdrawn from ActiveCampaign itself.

  3. 03

    Read the approval screen

Check the authorization screen before accepting. It belongs to ActiveCampaign, not to Claude, and it sets what the access covers. It may list wider rights than Claude uses day to day; per-action approval stays the default rule.

Tools

The 32 ActiveCampaign tools, split by what they do

ActiveCampaign gives Claude 32 tools: 18 that read your account, 14 that change something in it.

Two groups: what Claude reads, and what it changes in your account. Tool names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

list_contacts

Pulls contacts with filters on segment, form, list or tag, page by page, so Claude can answer "who" questions about your audience without you building a view.

When it helps
everyone tagged webinar-may who is also on the newsletter list.

get_contact

Opens the detailed record of one contact by its identifier, with the information ActiveCampaign holds on that person.

When it helps
a salesperson needs a lead's phone number before a call and does not have the app open.
Watch out
Claude needs the contact's identifier, usually found through the contact list first.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

list_tags

Finds tags by name with several matching modes, so Claude uses the tag you already have instead of guessing at its spelling and ending up with a twin.

When it helps
checking whether the tag is "VIP", "vip-client" or "Top customers" before applying it to anyone.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

get_tag

Returns the metadata of a single tag, enough for Claude to confirm it is the right one and describe what it is for.

When it helps
a colleague asks what the "reactivation-q3" tag was set up to track, and nobody wrote it down anywhere.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

list_lists

Browses and searches the contact lists of your account, the base Claude needs before subscribing anyone or reporting on a list.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

get_list

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

get_contact_custom_field

Fetches the details of a single custom field definition: its type and how it is configured.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

get_contact_field_value

Reads one specific data point: the value of a given field for a given contact.

When it helps
checking the renewal date recorded for a single customer before you answer their email.
Watch out
it targets one value at a time; for patterns across many contacts, the listing tool fits better.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

list_email_activities

listing every campaign that went out last month to compare subject lines in a quick review with the content team.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

get_campaign

Fetches the full record of a single campaign, so Claude can describe exactly what was sent and how it was set up.

When it helps
a manager asks which list the spring promotion went to and when, and you would rather not open the report yourself.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

list_automations

Returns every automation workflow in the account with its status, so Claude can tell you what is running and what is paused.

When it helps
an audit of active automations before a rebrand, to see which ones are still active and need a second look.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

list_contact_automations

Shows a contact's progress or enrollment across your automations, in one answer.

When it helps

Watch out
it covers one contact at a time, not the whole audience.

Sourcedevelopers.activecampaign.com · July 13, 2026 ↗

Approvals

What Claude checks with you before touching ActiveCampaign

By default, Claude stops and asks before each action it takes on an account for you. The prompt appears in the conversation when it matters.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked each time. They can also narrow what a connector may do across the organization, for instance keeping reading on and changes off, and nobody overrides that from a personal account. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected, and ActiveCampaign's guide adds that on a company Claude account, an administrator must first connect and approve the service for the organization.

Plans

Which plans the Claude ActiveCampaign connector is on

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows plan availability. The answer connector by connector is published nowhere: a real hole in the catalog.

The general rule is published. Remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile; desktop extensions install on Claude Desktop. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner opens a connector for the organization before members can each sign in. For the live state of ActiveCampaign, the connector's sheet in the official directory is the place to look.

Limits

Where the ActiveCampaign connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you, so nothing starts when a contact opens an email, fills a form or changes stage.

Only ActiveCampaign documents this connector: no Claude help article covers it. The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise, and an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The partner badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it neither picks a publisher's tools nor guarantees how they behave. For a connector whose official sources contradict each other, see the Claude gmail connector page.

FAQ

Claude ActiveCampaign connector: common questions

01What can Claude do with the ActiveCampaign connector?
Claude can look up and act on your contacts, lists, tags, custom fields, campaigns and automations. Of its 32 listed tools, 18 read: contact records, tags, lists, field values, campaign details, email engagement and automation progress. The other 14 act: adding or refreshing contacts, applying or making tags, setting up and editing lists, setting field values, and starting or stopping an automation for a contact. It all happens inside a conversation, on request.
02Can Claude change or delete contacts in ActiveCampaign?
It can add and change, and nothing documented deletes. Claude can add or refresh a contact by email, tag it, set its status on a list, fill or edit its custom fields and move it into or out of an automation. None of the listed tools is described as deleting a contact, a tag or a list. Watch the list status tool: it can unsubscribe as well as subscribe. The sheet is an observed floor that an administrator can widen.
03Does Claude ask before changing my ActiveCampaign account?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation specific to an ActiveCampaign tool, so that default rule is what covers the 14 tools that change something. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked, and they can block changes for the whole organization while reading stays open.
04Which Claude plans include the ActiveCampaign connector?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and no directory sheet displays it. The general rule says remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner enables a connector before members can sign in individually. The ActiveCampaign sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows the live state for your account.
05Does Claude see everything in our ActiveCampaign account?
Claude works with the rights of the person who connected, nothing more, and your admins keep control on both sides. ActiveCampaign's guide says that on a company Claude account, an administrator must first connect and approve the service for the organization. On Team and Enterprise, Claude owners can also restrict what the connector does for everyone, such as allowing lookups but blocking every change, and members cannot lift that from their own account.
06Can Claude build an automation in ActiveCampaign?
No. The listed tools let Claude read your automations, check a contact's progress through them, enroll a contact by hand and take one out. None is described as designing, editing or switching on an automation. So Claude is good for questions such as why a customer got two onboarding emails, and for starting the right sequence for a lead, while the automation itself is still built and maintained in ActiveCampaign by your team.
07Claude or an automation tool for ActiveCampaign?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the task. Claude works inside a conversation: you ask, it looks up, tags or enrolls, and nothing happens once you stop typing. No tool reacts by itself to an email open or a form submission. For work that must run in the background every time something happens, an automation tool fits. For quick answers about your audience and one-off fixes, the connector is faster.
