Overview

Why let Claude query Ratehub's mortgage rates

Shopping for a mortgage in Canada means comparing fixed and variable offers from the big banks and other lenders, then redoing the exercise when your situation changes. With this connector, you describe your case in plain words and Claude asks Ratehub for matching rates, then lays them side by side so you can discuss the trade-offs in the same conversation.

Price a first purchase. You give the home price and the down payment: get_purchase_rates brings back matching rates, and Claude sets fixed and variable options side by side; the directory says results can be tailored by home price, down payment and location.

Prepare a renewal. To renew or extend a mortgage you already hold, get_renewal_rates fetches renewal rates to set against your lender's offer.

Weigh breaking the mortgage. Breaking and replacing an existing loan is priced with refinance rates from get_refinance_rates, while a line of credit against home equity goes through get_heloc_rates.

What it will not do: the connector looks up rates, it does not apply for a mortgage, contact a lender or lock a rate for you. It does not watch the market either; Claude only fetches rates when you ask during a conversation. We have no n8n, Make or Zapier page for Ratehub; our Integrations hub lists the platforms we cover, and the Claude connectors page gathers the others.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The Claude terms this page uses, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an outside service, so Claude can call on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do. Claude chooses the tools it needs on its own, and the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
The access you hand Claude on a service through that service's own screen. Ratehub's rates are public, so no personal login is involved here.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before doing something that changes an account, shown in the conversation at the moment it matters.
MCP
The common standard behind connectors: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Ratehub.
Connect

Add the Claude Ratehub Mortgage connector in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the connector list

In Claude, open the settings, go to Customize then Connectors, and search for Ratehub Mortgage. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization before members can add it.

  2. 02

    Click Connect on its row

Press Connect next to Ratehub Mortgage and follow whatever window the service opens. If the link breaks later, Disconnect then connect again: that is the documented way to repair it.

  3. 03

    Check the permission screen

If a permission screen shows up, read it before you accept: it belongs to the service, not to Claude, and it defines the access. Here the tools return public rate data, so there is no personal account to hand over.

Tools

The 4 tools of the Ratehub Mortgage connector

Ratehub Mortgage gives Claude 4 tools: 4 that read your account, 0 that change something in it.

Four lookups, one per mortgage situation. All four only read rates; names stay as Claude displays them.

What Claude reads (4)

4 tools

Four rate lookups, each matching a different moment in the life of a Canadian mortgage.

get_heloc_rates

Brings back HELOC rates, for borrowing through a line of credit secured on the equity you already hold in your home, based on the details you give.

When it helps
you want to borrow against the equity in your home rather than take out a new mortgage.

get_purchase_rates

Returns mortgage rates for buying a home. Ratehub's server also treats it as the fallback when you do not say which kind of mortgage you are after.

When it helps
you are buying a home, or you have not said which kind of mortgage you need.

Sourceapi.ratehub.ca · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_refinance_rates

Looks up rates for breaking your current mortgage and replacing it with a new one, based on the details you give.

When it helps
you are thinking of breaking your current mortgage and replacing it.
Watch out
Ratehub's server requires every amount in Canadian dollars, so a price in another currency will not be accepted.

get_renewal_rates

Fetches the rates on offer for renewing or extending a mortgage you already have, as a benchmark against your lender's proposal.

When it helps
your mortgage is up for renewal or extension and you want other rates to compare with the one you were offered.

Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before any action it would carry out on an account for you. The four Ratehub tools only fetch rates, and no source describes a confirmation tied to any one of them.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners choose whether members may let some actions go through without being asked again. They can also restrict what a connector may do across the organization, for example allow reading and block writing, and no one overrides that from their own account. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected it and nothing beyond; with public rate data, that simply means what Ratehub shows any visitor.

Plans

Which Claude plans include it

Anthropic's general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and desktop extensions install in Claude Desktop.

On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner turns a connector on for the organization before members can connect. For Ratehub Mortgage's current status, the sheet in the official directory is the reference, linked from the button at the top of this page. No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, so that sheet is the place to check.

Limits

What the Ratehub Mortgage connector does not do

This connector is documented by its publisher alone: neither the Claude help center nor Anthropic's developer docs have a page on it. What follows comes from the directory sheet and from Ratehub's own server.

A connector is not an automation: Claude calls its tools during a reply, and nothing fires on its own when rates move. The directory's verification badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic notes on every sheet that it does not control what a publisher's tools do, so only connect publishers you know. By default the sheet exposes only reading, which is an observed floor rather than a promise for later.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Ratehub Mortgage connector

01What can Claude do with the Ratehub Mortgage connector?
Claude can fetch Canadian mortgage rates from Ratehub for four situations: buying a home, renewing an existing mortgage, refinancing by replacing the current loan, and taking a home equity line of credit. You give your details in the conversation, such as the price or the down payment, and Claude returns the rates and compares the options with you, all without leaving the chat or opening a comparison site. According to the directory, the comparison covers fixed and variable rates from the big banks and other lenders.
02Can Claude write, send or delete anything through it?
By default, the directory sheet lists only reading tools for this connector: all four return rate information. None of them applies for a mortgage, contacts a lender or saves anything on your behalf. Treat that as what the sheet shows today rather than a lasting guarantee, because a list of reading tools is an observed floor, and the publisher could add more later. Anything you decide to do with those rates, such as applying, still happens with the lender itself.
03Does Claude ask before using these tools?
By default, Claude stops and asks before any action it would carry out on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation attached to one of the four Ratehub tools specifically, so that general rule applies. What the server does spell out is that Claude should ask you for a required value it is missing rather than make one up. On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without a fresh prompt each time.
04Which Claude plans is it available on?
No official source lists plan by plan which connectors are included. Anthropic's general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and that on Team and Enterprise an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector first. The connector's sheet in the official directory is the only place that shows its current status. Check that sheet from your own account, since it reflects what applies to you.
05Does Claude see my whole account?
There is no Ratehub account to see. The tools return public mortgage rates from Ratehub based on the details you type in the conversation. Claude works with the rights of the person who connected it and nothing more, so the only personal information involved is what you choose to share in the chat, like a home price or a province. The rates themselves are the same public figures Ratehub publishes for anyone comparing offers.
06Can I get rates in US dollars with this connector?
No. Ratehub's server tells Claude that every amount must be in Canadian dollars and that US dollars or any other currency are not accepted. The directory also presents the connector as a comparison of mortgage rates in Canada. If you are financing a home elsewhere, this connector is not described as covering that market at all. Claude is also told to call these tools only for clear mortgage questions, not for any mention of interest rates in general.
07Claude or an automation tool for Ratehub rates?
They answer different needs. This connector serves a conversation: you describe your situation and Claude fetches and explains the rates right then. An automation tool runs a fixed scenario on its own when an event occurs. Nothing in this connector runs by itself, so watching rates on a schedule is not something it is described as doing. If you want rates collected regularly with no one asking, that is the kind of job an automation tool is built for, while Claude helps you read them.
