Overview

What the Claude Riverside connector changes for your show

Riverside is where you record and edit podcasts and videos. Once connected, Claude reads your transcripts and archive, finds a moment, edits along your instructions and publishes to your social accounts. It does not replace the studio, though: recording itself stays in Riverside.

Find a moment in the archive. search_riverside searches by topic, search_recording_transcripts_exact by exact phrase, and platform_get_transcript gives you the full text with a timestamp per sentence.

Clean up an episode. editing_remove_fillers strips the ums, editing_remove_pauses tightens silences, editing_set_captions adjusts captions and editing_apply_brand adds your branding in one pass.

Publish without switching tabs. social_upload_create posts or schedules a clip on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X.

What Claude does not do: it cannot start or join a recording, book a session, manage podcast hosting or motion graphics, which all stay in Riverside. Six tools on the sheet have no description. Nothing runs on its own either: no clip goes out when a recording ends unless you ask. For that, you need an automation platform, a different job; the Integrations hub covers that side.

Vocabulary

The vocabulary in one minute

Five words that make the rest of this page easier.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and your Riverside account, so Claude can work in it while answering you.
Tool
One named action the connector opens to Claude. Claude decides which to call; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
Riverside's sign-in screen, where you grant Claude the access it will use. Given once per person, and revocable the same way.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before carrying out something that changes your account, shown in the chat.
MCP
The common standard connectors are built on; it lets an assistant talk to an outside service.
Connect

Connect Riverside to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

    Find Riverside in Claude

In Claude's settings, open Customize then Connectors and look for Riverside. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization first.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on Riverside's row, then sign in through the window Riverside opens itself. If the link breaks later, use Disconnect and reconnect from the same row.

  3. 03

    Approve the authorization

Read the authorization screen before accepting: it belongs to Riverside, and it decides what the access covers. You can withdraw that access later from your Riverside account.

Tools

All 59 tools, grouped by effect

Riverside gives Claude 59 tools: 31 that read your account, 22 that change something in it, and 6 no official source describes.

Three groups: what Claude reads, what it changes or publishes, and what no source describes. Tool names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

  • 31 read
  • 22 write
  • 6 not documented

What Claude reads (31)

31 tools

Thirty-one tools that look at your archive, edits, brand and networks without changing anything.

editing_compare_revisions

Shows what changed between two revisions of a cut, so Claude can tell you what a round of tweaks altered and what stayed as it was.

When it helps
a cut was reworked and you want to know what moved before you sign off on it.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_asset_metadata

Returns the name, type, duration and resolution of a media file. It is the read that fixes an item's duration before it gets placed; a still image reports none.

When it helps
you want to know how long a B-roll clip runs before dropping it into the episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_brand

Fetches the studio's brand kit, optionally narrowed to one production. Riverside describes it as a read-only fetch.

When it helps
before branding a video, you want to check what the studio kit holds.
Watch out
the kit itself is handled by editing_set_brand, which affects the whole studio.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_captions_presets

Lists the caption styles already saved in the studio. Riverside asks Claude to pick from them rather than inventing a style from scratch.

When it helps
you ask for "our usual captions" and Claude looks up the right preset instead of building one by hand.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_editing_guide

Provides the parameters, accepted values and defaults of the post-production tools, according to Riverside's plugin, alongside the live tool schemas.

When it helps
an unusual post-production option is needed and you want to know what it accepts before anything is applied.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_export_publish_data

Surfaces Content-ID and copyright signals for a cut's media ahead of a YouTube upload. Riverside asks Claude to report a flagged match rather than publish over it.

When it helps
your episode has background music and you want to avoid a block on YouTube.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_layout

Opens one specific layout template. Riverside warns that this read returns a large technical blob, and that the list summary is usually enough to choose between templates.

When it helps
you are looking for the side-by-side two-speaker layout for your interview.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_revision

A cheap freshness check: returns the current revision of a cut, and nothing else.

When it helps
before a tweak, you want to know whether the cut is still at the revision you last saw.
Watch out
the verified plan tool rejects a stale plan, so the revision matters.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_stock_media

Searches images and videos in the built-in stock library. Riverside's flow is to search, let you choose one, then place your pick with another tool.

When it helps
you need a shot for the intro of an episode and have nothing suitable on hand.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_get_stock_music

Browses the free built-in music library, organised by collection and section. Variant names encode intensity and length, which helps you choose without listening to every track in full.

When it helps
you want a short, calm background track for the closing credits.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_list_edit_recording_asset_sessions

Finds the recording sessions behind a cut's clips, the bridge back to the transcript and the discovery tools.

When it helps
you want to know which recording an excerpt came from.
Watch out
it fails when a source cannot be resolved.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_list_layouts

Lists the available layout templates, with a summary that is usually enough to pick one. Only layouts carrying a text description show up.

When it helps
you want to see the possible arrangements before choosing one for your video podcast.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_read_aligned_transcript

Gives what is said, lined up with the cut's timeline. Claude then knows where each sentence falls, so it can cut or insert at the right spot.

When it helps
you want the exact moment your guest talks about her first customer.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_read_timeline_in_range

The reference read of what actually exists in a cut: tracks, clips, scenes, layouts and keyframes over a time window, the read every precise operation starts from.

When it helps
before cutting, Claude looks at what really sits between minutes 10 and 12 of the episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_resolve_transcript_selection

Turns markers taken from the transcript into safe ranges, packaged and ready to run. Riverside states it never alters the cut and that it requires an intent.

When it helps
you say "take out the sponsor bit" and Claude prepares the exact range first.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_validate_edit_plan

Checks a plan of operations ahead of time against the same cut and revision, then returns a hash to hand to the batch tool.

When it helps
Claude is preparing several operations at once and wants to be sure they all go through.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_edit

Opens one cut, names the recording it came from and gives its Riverside link, which you use to export or download it yourself in the editor.

When it helps
you want the link to a finished cut so you can grab it from the editor.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_production

Returns one production with its studios. It is a starting point for browsing your workspace when you do not yet know where something lives.

When it helps
you run several shows and want to see which studios sit under the main production.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_project

Returns a project's recordings and cuts in a single call. Riverside prefers it over the two separate lists, which take more effort to reach the same result.

When it helps
you want everything about episode 12, raw and assembled, in one go.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_recording

Opens one recording. According to Riverside, the preview link, which carries an access token, is only included in the answer when it is explicitly asked for.

When it helps
you want to check a recording's details before starting work on it.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_studio

Returns one studio with its parent production. You start from the studio and work back up to the show, the reverse of reading a production, without listing its projects.

When it helps
you want to know which show a studio created by a colleague belongs to.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_get_transcript

Gives the dialogue of a recording as prose, with one timestamp per sentence. Riverside notes those timestamps are relative to the recording session.

When it helps
you are preparing show notes and want the full text of the interview in one place.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_list_edits

Lists the cuts within a project, not across a whole studio. Riverside notes the list can include cuts flagged as deleted.

When it helps
you want every cut of a project side by side.
Watch out
check that flag before treating a cut as current.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_list_productions

Lists your productions, the top level of your workspace. Riverside notes that no tool identifies the signed-in user, so Claude starts from a search or from these lists.

When it helps
you are new to a team's account and want its basic structure.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_list_projects

Lists projects, optionally narrowed to one studio, so you can pick one.

When it helps
you are looking for one project in a studio that holds many.
Watch out
cuts are listed project by project, so finding the project comes first.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_list_recordings

Lists recordings page by page; Riverside's plugin pages through the list to collect every recording made on a given local date.

When it helps
you want all the recordings of one day side by side so you can pick the right one.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

platform_list_studios

Lists studios, optionally narrowed to one production, so you can pick a studio. With the productions list, it is one of the starting points Riverside gives, since no tool identifies the signed-in user.

When it helps
you want to know which studio holds a given show.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

search_recording_transcripts_exact

Looks for exact terms in recording transcripts. It is the most precise search, terms are matched verbatim, and it only covers recordings, not projects or clips.

When it helps
you remember the line "we raised too early" word for word and want the episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

search_riverside

Finds content when you know the topic or title but not the exact words. It searches what is said in takes; projects and clips are matched on their titles only.

When it helps
you want the episode about fundraising but cannot recall the wording.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

social_get_connected_platforms

Shows the social platforms and accounts linked to a studio, with each account's current options and limits. That is where Claude sees which networks are actually available.

When it helps
before scheduling a clip, you check that the TikTok account is properly linked.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

social_get_publishing_guidelines

Gives each platform's current rules: metadata, media constraints, workflow and error recovery.

When it helps
you want to know a platform's metadata rules before a post.
Watch out
these rules are per platform, so check the one you are posting to.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

What Claude changes or publishes (22)

22 tools

Twenty-two tools that alter an edit or your brand kit, or post to a network. No source gives them a confirmation of the connector's own.

editing_add_lower_third

Approval: see the rule

Places a name strip for a person, with an optional role, at the start time and for the duration given.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation from the connector itself; the general approval rule further down applies.
When it helps
you want a guest's name and role on screen when they first appear.
Watch out
it does not apply your brand's lower-third styling, according to Riverside.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_add_text_overlay

Approval: see the rule

Puts text in the video using built-in roles (title, subtitle, body, speaker) rather than free styling.

What Claude asks for
nothing specific is documented for this text; you fall back on the default rule.
When it helps
you want a chapter title at the start of each part of the episode.
Watch out
only a small set of style overrides is accepted.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_apply_brand

Approval: see the rule

Applies the studio's brand kit to an edit's timeline in one go. That is what Riverside means by branding a video.

What Claude asks for
no dedicated check is described; only the general approval frame covers it.
When it helps
a clip needs the studio's branding before it goes out.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_apply_smart_layout

Approval: see the rule

Generates scenes and layouts from who is speaking. Its fine-tuning options only apply to that automatic style.

What Claude asks for
the sources describe no prompt specific to this move; see the shared rule.
When it helps
your two-person interview should switch shots depending on the speaker.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_apply_smart_mutes

Approval: see the rule

Mutes non-speaking segments instead of removing them, so the running time stays the same.

What Claude asks for
no confirmation step is described for these gaps; the default behaviour applies.
When it helps
you want quiet between lines without changing the length of the edit.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_apply_verified_edit_plan

Approval: see the rule

Validates, applies and verifies a complex edit plan in a single pass. It requires the expected revision and rejects a stale plan without changing anything.

What Claude asks for
no source adds a confirmation to this plan; the general rule is what applies.
When it helps
Claude has to chain several cuts and additions on a long episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_batch

Approval: see the rule

The low-level tool for grouped, atomic changes, or for operations with no dedicated tool, such as switching layout or adjusting a crop. Riverside advises using the specialised tools first.

What Claude asks for
neither Riverside nor Anthropic describes a batch-specific check; the general rule applies.
When it helps
several changes have to land together, or one of them has no tool of its own.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_clone_edit

Approval: see the rule

Creates a second version of an edit so the original stays untouched, when you explicitly ask for one.

What Claude asks for
no specific prompt is documented before the copy; you fall back on the default frame.
When it helps
you want to try a short version without losing the long one.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_create_edit_from_recording

Approval: see the rule

Starts a new edit from a raw recording, keeping the title you give it.

What Claude asks for
no creation-specific check is described; see how approvals work by default.
When it helps
a recording is done and you want to start editing it.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_cut_time_ranges

Approval: see the rule

Removes the ranges you name across all recording tracks. It is the "take this out" tool, including for a selection made in the transcript.

What Claude asks for
the sources say nothing about a cut-specific confirmation; only the shared rule frames it.
When it helps
you want to drop a two-minute tangent in the middle of the interview.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_insert_audio

Approval: see the rule

Places an audio file (music, sound effect, voice-over) with its own level and fades.

What Claude asks for
nothing is described before this insertion; the general approval rule applies.
When it helps
you add a jingle between two parts of the episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_insert_media_as_scene

Approval: see the rule

Inserts an image or video as a new full-screen scene: the timeline gets longer and everything after it shifts right.

What Claude asks for
no confirmation specific to this insertion is documented; the default behaviour applies.
When it helps
you want to slot field footage into the middle of the episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_insert_overlay

Approval: see the rule

Lays an image or video on top of existing content without changing the duration. Riverside requires an explicit duration.

What Claude asks for
no dedicated check is described for this overlay; see the general frame.
When it helps
you want your logo in the corner for the whole intro.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_insert_stock_media

Approval: see the rule

Imports the image or video chosen from the library and places it as an overlay.

What Claude asks for
no source specifies a confirmation here; the shared rule applies.
When it helps
you picked a night-time city shot and want it over the first ten seconds.
Watch out
if the item no longer exists, Riverside advises searching again rather than retrying.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_remove_fillers

Approval: see the rule

Removes the regions the transcript flagged as disfluencies: ums, noises, false starts.

What Claude asks for
no dedicated prompt is documented; Anthropic's default rule covers this clean-up.
When it helps
your guest says "um" a lot and you want a smoother episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_remove_pauses

Approval: see the rule

Cuts silences longer than the threshold you set. Riverside advises agreeing on the threshold with you: too low and speech sounds clipped.

What Claude asks for
no specific confirmation is described; only the general approval frame covers it.
When it helps
you want to tighten the dead air in a panel discussion.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_restore_audio_cleanup

Approval: see the rule

Undoes one specific clean-up pass that you name. It is not a general undo, and manual cuts stay in place.

What Claude asks for
nothing specific is described before this undo; you fall back on the shared rule.
When it helps
the filler removal cut too much and you want to roll back that pass only.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_set_brand

Approval: see the rule

Edits the brand kit itself, in small patches. No edit is touched, but every future application changes for the whole studio.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a dedicated check; the general approval rule is the only safety net.
When it helps
the show changes its main colour and you want the kit updated.
Watch out
a change here applies to the entire studio, not a single episode.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_set_captions

Approval: see the rule

Adjusts captions by merging: any field you leave out keeps its value, down to the style settings.

What Claude asks for
no dedicated prompt is documented; see the default behaviour.
When it helps
you only want a bigger caption font without redoing everything.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_set_magic_audio

Approval: see the rule

Turns Riverside's enhanced audio on or off for a recording track, with an optional mix level.

What Claude asks for
no confirmation of its own is described for this setting; the general rule applies.
When it helps
one track needs enhanced audio and the others do not.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

editing_set_visual_crop

Approval: see the rule

Applies a fixed crop to a clip or track, framed from its first visible frame. A crop that changes over time goes through the batch tool.

What Claude asks for
the sources mention no dedicated check; only the shared rule frames this crop.
When it helps
you want a tighter frame on your face for a vertical version.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

social_upload_create

Approval: see the rule

Publishes or schedules a clip to one platform: YouTube, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X. Riverside calls it destructive, since it can create a real post.

What Claude asks for
no source describes a confirmation from the connector itself; Riverside's plugin tells Claude to show the exact metadata for every target and wait for your explicit go-ahead.
When it helps
a finished clip has to be scheduled on one of your accounts.
Watch out
a finished export does not mean a clip can be published, according to Riverside.

Sourcegithub.com · September 29, 2026 ↗

Undocumented (6)

6 tools

The directory publishes these six names and nothing else. No official text says what they do, and we will not guess from the names.

editing_set_color_correction

This name is on the directory sheet, and that is all. No official source documents it: not the Riverside pages reviewed, not Anthropic's, not the publisher's plugin. This page will not say more.

Watch out
whatever it does, the general approval rule covers it.

media_create_media_upload

Listed by the directory, it is documented by no official source consulted, at Riverside or at Anthropic, so there is nothing to say about what it does.

Watch out
nothing is inferred from its name, and the shared approval rule applies to it.

media_finalize_media_upload

One more name on the sheet, with no sentence from the publisher to explain it. No official source documents it, and Riverside's plugin never mentions it.

Watch out
without a source, this page files it as neither read nor write.

media_get_media

No official source documents it: Riverside published no line about this tool in the pages reviewed, its plugin included, and the directory sheet gives only the name.

Watch out
it stays under the general approval framework, like every other tool here.

platform_get_export

The sheet lists it, but no official source documents it: neither Riverside nor Anthropic says what it does or what it returns, not even the publisher's plugin or help article.

Watch out
any action it might take falls under the default rule described below.

platform_list_exports

It appears on the directory sheet, yet no official source documents it, neither the plugin nor Riverside's help article, so this page stops at its name and goes no further.

Watch out
the pointer to the general approval rule holds for it too.
Approvals

What Claude asks before it acts

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you, inside the conversation.

On Team and Enterprise, owners decide whether members can let some actions through without being asked every time, and they can cap what a connector does for the whole organization. Riverside adds its own instructions in its plugin, an add-on installed next to the connector: before any post, Claude has to show you the exact metadata and wait for your go-ahead, and a retry needs a fresh confirmation.

Plans

Which plans include the connector

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan; connector by connector, the information is not published anywhere.

Anthropic's general rule is documented: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, and on Team and Enterprise an Owner or Primary Owner enables the connector before members connect. Riverside's help article adds a plan-related note, set side by side in the limits section. For the current state, check Riverside's sheet in the directory.

Limits

Where the Riverside connector stops

A connector is not an automation: Claude calls these tools while it answers you, and no clip goes out on its own.

Claude works on what has already been recorded, and it acts with your Riverside account and role, nothing more. The sheet lists six tools no Riverside page describes, and the plugin describes a publish-status tool that is not on the sheet; the sheet is what tells you what Claude actually has. This connector is documented by Riverside alone, and the directory badge is not a security audit: Anthropic does not vouch for how a publisher's tools behave.

Two official sources disagree

Which plans let Claude use this connector?

  • Claude Help Center, general connector rule ↗September 2026Remote connectors are open to all users; on Team and Enterprise, an Owner first enables the connector for the organization.
  • Riverside help article ↗10 September 2026The publisher says that on the Free Claude plan you can only add one custom connector, and that on Team or Enterprise the organization's admin must add the connector first.

What this page followsThe two texts do not clash on whether the connector is open: Anthropic gives the general rule, Riverside adds a limit on custom connectors and an admin step. Neither is out of date, but it is the publisher speaking: check the directory sheet from your own account.

FAQ

Claude Riverside connector: common questions

01What can Claude do with the Riverside connector?
Claude can browse your Riverside archive, read your transcripts and work on your edits from the chat. It searches for a moment by topic or exact phrase, opens productions, studios, projects, recordings and edits, removes fillers and silences, adds captions, text, music and branding, then posts or schedules a clip on your social accounts. Six tools on the sheet have no published description, and recording itself stays in Riverside, as do hosting and motion graphics.
02Can Claude change my edits or publish for me?
Yes, twenty-two tools write. They create or duplicate an edit, cut sections, insert scenes, visuals, audio and text, adjust audio, captions and crop, apply or change the brand kit, and publish to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X. Riverside calls publishing destructive, since it creates a real post on the chosen account. Changing the brand kit also alters every future application across the studio, not just the edit in front of you.
03Does Claude ask before posting a clip?
By default, yes: Claude asks for confirmation before each action it takes on an account for you. No source describes a confirmation from the Riverside connector itself. Riverside's plugin, installed alongside it, adds a clear instruction: show the exact metadata for each post and wait for your explicit approval, with a fresh confirmation for every retry. On Team or Enterprise, owners can also block every write from the connector for the whole organization.
04Which plans is it available on?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Riverside's article adds a note quoted in the limits section. The directory sheet remains the up-to-date reference for your account, so check it there.
05Does Claude see my whole Riverside account?
It sees what your Riverside account and role open to it. Riverside limits access to the owner, admin, director and editor roles. No tool identifies the signed-in user, so Claude starts from a search or from your list of productions and studios. Shareable preview links are only included when you explicitly ask. On Team or Enterprise, an owner can also restrict what the connector may do for everyone, and members cannot undo that.
06Why can't Claude start my recording?
Because Riverside kept recording out of the connector. The publisher states that Claude works on content that is already recorded: it cannot start or join a session, or book the next one. Podcast hosting and motion graphics also stay in Riverside. Once the episode is in the can, though, Claude can create the edit, clean it up, caption it and prepare clips for your social accounts, after your approval for each post.
07Claude or an automation tool for Riverside?
They do different jobs, so it depends on the use. Claude with this connector acts when you talk to it: finding a quote, cleaning up an episode, scheduling a clip. An automation platform runs in the background and reacts to events with nobody involved. If you want a clip to go out automatically every time a new episode lands, that second kind of tool is the fit, not a conversation waiting for your request.
