What does the Bettermode Make integration automate?
The Bettermode Make integration links your Bettermode community to Make, a visual tool where you build a scenario (the automation itself) out of modules, one brick per step. Bettermode tells Make when something happens, like a new member or a new post, and Make can answer by acting back in the community or in another app.
Onboarding that runs by itself. Watch Created Member fires when someone signs up; Add a Space Member drops them into the right space and Send a Private Message greets them. Nobody on your team has to remember.
Badges that mean something elsewhere. When Watch Assigned Member Badge fires, you can pass the news to another tool, and Verify a Member Badge lets a scenario check a badge before it grants access with Approve a Space Join Request.
Content that feeds the rest of your stack. Watch Created Post and Watch Created Reply send every new discussion to Make, where you can copy it into a spreadsheet or a team channel. Going the other way, Create a Post publishes an announcement from another app.
What the modules do not cover, Make an API Call reaches with the same connection. The same app often has an n8n node too; if you are weighing both tools, the n8n vs Make comparison lays out the criteria. New to the editor? The Make training starts from zero, and Make pricing explains what counts on your plan.
How do you connect Bettermode to Make?
- 01
Copy your key from Bettermode
In Bettermode, open the Admin Panel, go to App Store, then Apps and Integrations. Pick the Make.com integration app, click Install if needed, open its Settings tab and copy the API key shown there.
- 02
Add a Bettermode module in Make
In your scenario, add any Bettermode module and click Create a connection. A connection is your Bettermode account linked to Make once, then reused by every Bettermode module. The Connection name field is optional.
- 03
Paste the credentials and save
Paste the credentials you copied, or follow the on-screen instructions. Make needs an active Bettermode account with an App Access Token or a Member Access Token to accept the connection.
Your first scenario: welcome every new Bettermode member
GoalWhen a member signs up in Bettermode, Make adds them to a space and sends them a private welcome message.
- 01
Create the scenario
On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the big +. Search for Bettermode and pick Watch Created Member as the first module.
- 02
Set up the webhook and connection
Click Create a webhook, then Create a connection and paste your key. From now on, Bettermode calls Make each time a member is created.
- 03
Add the member to a space
Click the + on the right of the trigger and add Add a Space Member. Pick the space, then map the member coming from the trigger. Each member travels as one bundle, one item passed between modules.
- 04
Send the welcome
Add Send a Private Message after it. Map the same member again and write a short note telling them where the space is and what to post first.
- 05
Test with Run once
Click Run once, then create a test member in Bettermode. Open the bubbles above each module to read the bundle it received and check the space and the message.
- 06
Switch it on
When the test looks right, switch the scenario on. Every module run is an operation, the unit Make counts on your plan, so this scenario uses three per new member.
Which Bettermode events can start a scenario?
15 modules start a scenario when something happens in Bettermode. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by Bettermode as soon as it happens.
Watch Assigned Member Badge
Instant triggerIn Make“A badge assigned to a member”
Your scenario wakes up each time a member receives a badge in the community, so a recognition you give in Bettermode can ripple into your other tools. Map what it sends to the tool that should hear about it.
Watch Created Member
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member is created.”
This is the starting line for onboarding: every new signup in your Bettermode community becomes a bundle in Make, which you can route to spaces, messages or an outside list. It is the trigger most first scenarios use.
Watch Created Post
Instant triggerIn Make“A new post created”
Fresh discussions reach Make the moment they are published, which lets you mirror community activity in a team channel or a spreadsheet without anyone copying links by hand. One post equals one bundle.
Watch Created Reply
Instant triggerIn Make“A reply created to a post”
Conversations under a post come to Make one answer at a time, so you can follow a thread without refreshing it. Useful when the reply matters more than the original question.
Watch Created Space
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a space is created.”
A new space in the community becomes a signal for the rest of your setup: Make hears about it and can log it, announce it or prepare what comes next. Handy when several admins create spaces.
Watch Created Space Member
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member joined a space.”
Joining a space is a sign of interest, and this trigger hands that moment to Make. It fires for space membership, not for signups to the community, which makes it the right tool for topic-level follow-up.
Watch Deleted Member
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member is deleted.”
When an account disappears from the community, Make gets told, so your other lists stay honest instead of keeping people who have left. Think of it as the clean-up half of onboarding.
Watch Deleted Post
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a post or reply is deleted.”
Removed content is reported to Make, posts and replies alike, so any copy you keep elsewhere can be updated. Without it, a spreadsheet mirror slowly fills with discussions that no longer exist.
Watch Deleted Space Member
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member is removed from a space by an admin or moderator.”
Here Make learns that an admin or a moderator removed someone from a space. The member stays in the community; only that space membership ends, and your scenario can react to that decision.
Watch Deleted Spaces
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a space is deleted.”
Closing a space in Bettermode sends a notice to Make, which keeps your inventory of spaces and any linked resources in step. It is the counterpart of Watch Created Space.
Watch Revoked Member Badge
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member badge is revoked.”
Taking a badge back is news too. This trigger tells Make as soon as it happens, so perks and tags in other tools can be withdrawn in the same move.
Watch Space Join Request
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member requested to join a space.”
Private spaces collect requests, and this trigger forwards each one to Make, so you can check the person before anyone opens the admin panel. It pairs naturally with an approval step.
Watch Updated Member
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a member's information is updated.”
Profile edits flow into Make as they happen, so a changed name or detail does not stay stuck in Bettermode while your other tools show the old version.
Watch Updated Post
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a post's information is updated.”
An edited post is sent to Make, which lets a copy stored elsewhere follow the latest wording. Authors fix typos, add links, change titles; your mirror stays accurate.
Watch Updated Space
Instant triggerIn Make“Triggers when a space is updated.”
Whenever an admin changes a space, Make receives the updated version. That keeps directories, onboarding messages and internal docs that mention the space in line with reality.
What can Make do inside Bettermode?
Bettermode gives you 15 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Modules index
Add a Space Member
ActionIn Make“Add a member to a space”
Puts an existing member straight into a space, so nobody waits for an admin to invite them. The result is a member who sees the right discussions from their first visit.
Approve a Space Join Request
ActionIn Make“Approves a request to join a space.”
Accepts a pending request to join a space, which saves your moderators from opening every request themselves. The member gets in as if an admin had clicked approve.
Assign a Badge to a Member
ActionIn Make“Assigns a badge to a member.”
Hands a badge to a member from a scenario, so a status earned in another tool shows up in the community. The badge becomes visible proof of a purchase, a course finished or a role.
Create a Post
ActionIn Make“Creates a new post in a space”
Publishes a new post in the space you choose, with content mapped from earlier modules. Your community gets news the moment it exists elsewhere, without someone pasting it in.
Create a Reply
ActionIn Make“A reply created for a post”
Adds an answer under an existing post, which lets a scenario take part in a thread instead of starting a new one. Good for acknowledgments and status updates.
Create a Space
ActionIn Make“Creates a new space.”
Opens a new space from a scenario, so each project, cohort or customer can get its own corner of the community without manual setup by an admin.
Delete a Member
ActionIn Make“Deletes a member from a community.”
Removes a member from the whole community. It keeps your member base in line with a decision taken elsewhere, such as a closed account or a canceled contract.
Delete a Space Member
ActionIn Make“Removes a member from a space by an admin or moderator.”
Takes someone out of one space while leaving their community account intact. It is the lighter option next to Delete a Member when only access to a group should end.
Invite a Member
ActionIn Make“Send an invitation to a member to join in community”
Sends an invitation to join your community, so people who show interest elsewhere receive the door key without an admin typing their address. They still choose whether to accept.
Make an API Call
ActionIn Make“Performs an arbitrary authorized API call.”
Calls any endpoint of the Bettermode API through the connection you already have. It covers what the listed modules leave out, without a second login.
Revoke a Badge from a Member
ActionIn Make“Revokes a badge from a member.”
Takes a badge away from a member, keeping community status true to what happens in your other systems. The badge disappears from their profile.
Send a Private Message
ActionIn Make“Sends a private message to a member of a community.”
Writes a private message to one member of the community, the closest thing to a personal note from the team. It reaches them inside Bettermode, where they already are.
Send Direct Message
ActionIn Make“Sends a direct message”
Sends a direct message from a scenario, a separate module from Send a Private Message in the Make catalog. Use it to reach a member one to one when an event elsewhere calls for it.
Update Member
ActionIn Make“Update a member's information”
Changes a member's information from a scenario, so profile details kept in another tool can be written back into Bettermode instead of edited by hand.
Verify a Member Badge
ActionIn Make“Verifies a specific badge for a member.”
Checks whether a member holds a specific badge, giving your scenario a yes or no to branch on. It turns badges into access rules without anyone checking profiles.
