bexio Make integrationAutomate bexio with Make.

Can your bexio invoices, quotes and contacts move on their own? The bexio Make integration offers 62 modules: 9 triggers, 43 actions and 10 searches. This guide is for teams who already run their books in bexio, and it walks you from the connection to a first working scenario.

What you can automate

What does the bexio Make integration actually do?

The bexio Make integration links your bexio account to Make, a no-code tool where you build a scenario: a chain of modules that runs on its own. Each module is one brick, a trigger that watches bexio, an action that writes to it or a search that finds records. You pick the bricks, Make does the clicking.

Quotes that write themselves. A request lands in a form tool, Search Contacts finds the client in bexio, and Create a Quote drafts the document. The sales rep only checks and sends it.

Invoices filed without exporting by hand. Watch Invoices picks up your bexio invoices, Export Invoice to PDF turns each one into a file, and the next module drops that file in the folder your accountant already reads. Send an Invoice can also email it to the client.

Hours that reach bexio from the tools people actually use. A consultant logs time in a project app, Create a Timesheet copies the entry to the right bexio project, and billing starts from real numbers.

All 9 bexio triggers are scheduled: Make checks bexio at intervals, it never gets a push from bexio. The doc lists no numbered limit, and anything the 62 modules skip can still be reached with Make an API Call. Not sure Make is the right tool for your team? The Make review covers its strengths and gaps, the n8n vs Make comparison sets out the criteria if n8n is also on your list, and Make pricing explains how operations are counted.

Connect

How do you connect bexio to Make?

  1. 01

Add a bexio module and open the connection

In a new scenario, add any bexio module and click Create a connection. A connection is your bexio account linked to Make once, then reused by every bexio module. Give it a clear name in Connections name if you manage several companies, then click Save.

  2. 02

Sign in to bexio and allow access

A bexio window pops up. Type the Email address and password of your bexio account, then click Allow. That click confirms Make's access to your bexio account.

  3. 03

    Confirm and finish

Most people stop here and click OK. If your company uses its own bexio app, open Show advanced settings first and paste the client credentials. If bexio prompts you again, sign in once more and confirm access.

First scenario

Your first scenario: from a request to a bexio quote

GoalWhen a quote request arrives in another app, Make finds the client in bexio and drafts the quote there.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

On the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the big +. Pick the app where requests come in, such as your form tool, as the first module. That module starts everything.

  2. 02

    Find the client in bexio

Click the + to the right of the first module, search for bexio and choose Search Contacts. Create the connection when asked, then map the company name from the request into the search.

  3. 03

    Draft the quote

Add Create a Quote after the search. Make lists what it can read in bexio once connected, so map the contact from Search Contacts and fill the rest from the request.

  4. 04

    Test it once

Send a test request, then click Run once. Open the bubble above each module to read the bundles it received, and check that the quote in bexio sits on the right client.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch it on

Click the clock on the first module to set the schedule, every 15 minutes by default, then turn the scenario on. From then on, each new request becomes a quote waiting for review.

Triggers

What can start a bexio scenario?

9 modules start a scenario when something happens in bexio. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by bexio as soon as it happens.

bexio1Watch Contacts

Watch Contacts

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for updated or newly created contacts.

At each scheduled check, Watch Contacts picks up the bexio contacts created or edited since the last one, and passes that contact along as a bundle, which is simply one item handed from module to module. New clients and corrected addresses both enter the same flow.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks bexio on the scenario's schedule, every 15 minutes by default, so a change shows up at the next check.
When to use it
your newsletter tool or a shared sheet should mirror the client list kept in bexio.
Watch out
an edit fires it too, so a welcome email built on it would go out again after every address fix.
bexio2Watch Products

Watch Products

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for products.

With Watch Products, your bexio catalog becomes the starting point of a scenario: each product it returns travels to the next modules as its own bundle, ready to be copied to a shop, a price sheet or a sales team channel.

How it fires
scheduled. Make queries bexio at the interval set on the scenario, it is not alerted by bexio.
When to use it
the product list your team bills from should also feed the catalog your sales staff consult.
Watch out
the directory only says it watches products; click Run once on a test item to see exactly what it returns before you build on it.
bexio3Watch Orders

Watch Orders

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for orders.

Orders recorded in bexio can set the rest of your operations in motion through Watch Orders. Every order it collects becomes one bundle, and the modules you add after it act on that order one at a time.

How it fires
scheduled. Make looks at bexio on the scenario's clock, 15 minutes at the earliest on the Free plan and down to 1 minute on paid plans.
When to use it
the warehouse or delivery tool needs to hear about orders without someone forwarding them.
Watch out
each order runs every later module once, and each run counts as an operation on your plan.
bexio4Watch Projects

Watch Projects

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for projects.

Watch Projects hands your bexio projects to a scenario so the tools around them can follow along: a task board, a chat channel, a planning sheet. One project equals one bundle for the modules that come next.

How it fires
scheduled. Make asks bexio for projects each time the scenario's schedule comes around.
When to use it
a project opened in bexio should get its own board in the task tool your consultants live in.
Watch out
the doc does not say which project changes count, so test on a sample project with Run once and read the bundle before you map anything.
bexio5Watch Quotes

Watch Quotes

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for quotes.

For sales teams, Watch Quotes is the entry point: it brings bexio quotes into Make, one bundle per quote, so follow-ups, reminders or reports can start from the document itself rather than from memory.

How it fires
scheduled. Make pulls from bexio on the rhythm of the scenario, there is no instant alert from bexio.
When to use it
every quote should also appear in your CRM pipeline, where the sales rep tracks the deal.
Watch out
keep an eye on operations; a scenario that touches several apps per quote multiplies what each check costs on your plan.
bexio6Watch Invoices

Watch Invoices

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for invoices.

Watch Invoices feeds bexio invoices into a scenario, each as its own bundle, so later modules can export, file, copy or report on them without anyone downloading a single document by hand.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks bexio at the interval set on the first module, every 15 minutes unless you change it.
When to use it
pair it with Export Invoice to PDF to keep an archive in the cloud drive your fiduciary opens.
Watch out
every invoice it returns runs all the later modules once; read the bundles of a Run once before you add Send an Invoice behind it.
bexio7Watch Payments

Watch Payments

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for payments.

Payment activity in bexio can alert the rest of the business thanks to Watch Payments. It returns the payments it finds as bundles, one each, so a message, a sheet row or a CRM update can follow.

How it fires
scheduled. Make consults bexio at the scenario's interval, never the moment a payment is booked.
When to use it
the account manager wants a chat notice as soon as the next check spots a payment from their client.
Watch out
scheduled means a small delay; do not promise clients an immediate confirmation built on this trigger.
bexio8Watch Timesheets

Watch Timesheets

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for timesheets.

Time entered in bexio does not have to stay there. Watch Timesheets sends each timesheet it collects into your scenario as a bundle, ready to be summed in a sheet or shared with the client team.

How it fires
scheduled. Make reads bexio whenever the scenario's schedule triggers a run, 15 minutes by default.
When to use it
a project lead keeps a live budget sheet and wants hours added without copying them.
Watch out
if another scenario writes timesheets with Create a Timesheet, this trigger may pick those up as well; test the pair together.
bexio9Watch Files

Watch Files

Scheduled trigger

In MakeWatches for files.

Documents stored in bexio can reach your other tools through Watch Files: each file it finds becomes a bundle that the next module can download, rename or pass to a drive.

How it fires
scheduled. Make checks the bexio file area on the scenario's schedule, never through a push from bexio.
When to use it
receipts uploaded to bexio should also land in the shared folder your team uses for expenses.
Watch out
the Free plan caps files at 5 MB and data transfer at 512 MB, so large scans can stop a scenario on that plan.
Modules

What can Make do in bexio?

bexio gives you 53 modules in 12 groups. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Contacts

5 modules
bexio1

Search Contacts

Search

In MakeSearches for contacts.

Search Contacts looks through your bexio address book and returns every contact that matches, each one as a separate bundle. It is the usual way to find a client before you quote, bill or edit them.

When to use it
a web form sends a company name and you need the matching bexio contact before creating a quote.
Watch out
a search can return zero, one or several contacts, and every module after it runs once per result.
bexio2

Get a Contact

Action

In MakeReturns a specified contact.

Need the full card of one client? Get a Contact returns the record you point it to, so later modules can reuse its details in an email, a task or a document.

When to use it
Watch Contacts or a search has already picked the contact, and the next step needs everything bexio knows about them.
Watch out
it does not search by itself; map the contact from an earlier module rather than typing a value by hand.
bexio3

Create a Contact

Action

In MakeCreates a new contact.

New clients reach bexio without retyping thanks to Create a Contact: it adds a person or company from data another app collected, ready for quotes, orders and invoices.

When to use it
a lead signs up through a booking tool and should exist in bexio before the first quote goes out.
Watch out
it creates a record on every run; put Search Contacts in front so an existing client does not get a second copy.
bexio4

Update a Contact

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified contact.

Update a Contact rewrites an existing bexio contact with fresher values from elsewhere, so the address book stays current without manual edits on two screens.

When to use it
a client changes their email in your CRM and bexio should follow, so invoices reach the right inbox.
Watch out
an update is an edit, and Watch Contacts reacts to edits; in the same scenario the pair can start the flow again and again.
bexio5

Delete a Contact

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified contact.

To remove a contact from bexio when another system decides it should go, Delete a Contact acts on exactly the one record you map, nothing more.

When to use it
a duplicate found during a CRM cleanup needs to disappear from bexio as well.
Watch out
the doc says nothing about restoring a deleted contact, so test on a dummy record with Run once and double check the mapping before you switch the scenario on.

Products

5 modules
bexio6

Search Products

Search

In MakeSearches for products.

Search Products finds the items in your bexio catalog that match what you ask for and returns each hit as its own bundle. It tells a scenario which bexio product a sale from another channel refers to.

When to use it
an online shop order arrives and you want the matching bexio product before building the order.
Watch out
several products can match; decide which one wins, or the rest of the scenario runs for each of them.
bexio7

Get a Product

Action

In MakeReturns a specified product.

Get a Product reads a single catalog item in detail, so the next module can reuse its details in a message, a sheet or a document. It is the precise follow-up to a search or a trigger that already picked the item.

When to use it
Watch Products has passed an item and the sales sheet needs its current details.
Watch out
it needs a product from an earlier module; free text will not do.
bexio8

Create a Product

Action

In MakeCreates a new product.

Your bexio catalog can grow from another tool with Create a Product, so the list you sell from and the list you bill from stay identical.

When to use it
the team adds a service to a shared catalog sheet and bexio should offer it on the next quote.
Watch out
run it behind Search Products, otherwise a second run on the same row adds the same item twice.
bexio9

Update a Product

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified product.

Update a Product changes an existing catalog item with new values, which spares you editing the same product in two places and hoping they match.

When to use it
a supplier renames a reference in your purchasing sheet and the bexio product should follow before the next invoice.
Watch out
if Watch Products starts this same scenario, your own update may come back as a new bundle; check what the trigger returns first.
bexio10

Delete a Product

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified product.

When an item is no longer sold, Delete a Product takes it out of your bexio catalog. One run removes the one product you mapped.

When to use it
a discontinued line is flagged as retired in your stock tool and should vanish from bexio too.
Watch out
the doc does not cover what happens to quotes or invoices that already use the product, so try it on a test item before trusting it with real data.

Orders

5 modules
bexio11

Search Orders

Search

In MakeSearches for orders.

Search Orders lists the bexio orders that fit your criteria, one bundle per order, so a scenario can find them without anyone opening bexio.

When to use it
a client emails to ask where an order stands and you want it found before the reply is drafted.
Watch out
zero results means the modules after it have nothing to work on; plan what should happen when no order matches.
bexio12

Get an Order

Action

In MakeReturns a specified order.

Get an Order fetches one order with all its details, ready to reuse in a message, a task or a delivery note built in another app.

When to use it
Watch Orders has passed along an order and your warehouse tool needs its full content to prepare the shipment.
Watch out
map the order from the trigger or a search; a value typed by hand only ever points to one order.
bexio13

Create an Order

Action

In MakeCreates a new order.

A sale made somewhere else becomes a bexio order through Create an Order, so it exists where invoicing happens and nobody keys it in twice.

When to use it
a customer confirms on an online booking page and the matching bexio order should appear on its own.
Watch out
if the order should point to a client, find that client with Search Contacts first and map the contact it returns.
bexio14

Update an Order

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified order.

Update an Order edits an order already in bexio, keeping it aligned with what changed in your shop or your CRM after the sale.

When to use it
a customer changes a quantity after checkout and the bexio order must reflect it before billing.
Watch out
Watch Orders may see your edit as fresh activity; if both sit in the same scenario, test with Run once to rule out a loop.
bexio15

Delete an Order

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified order.

Delete an Order erases one order from bexio. Only the order you map is affected, which makes it a tidy way to clear records created by mistake.

When to use it
test orders placed while you built the scenario need to go before real ones start flowing.
Watch out
keep it for test data, and check with accounting before a scenario deletes genuine sales.

Projects

5 modules
bexio16

Search Projects

Search

In MakeSearches for projects.

Search Projects returns the bexio projects that match your query, each as a bundle, so a scenario can attach hours, files or notes to the right one.

When to use it
a consultant logs time in another app with a project name, and you need the bexio project before writing the timesheet.
Watch out
similar project names can return several matches; make the query precise or the timesheet may land twice.
bexio17

Get a Project

Action

In MakeReturns a specified project.

Get a Project opens one project in detail, so its details can travel to a status report, a chat message or a planning tool.

When to use it
Watch Projects has flagged a project and the team channel should receive a summary of it.
Watch out
the project must come from an earlier module; this one reads, it does not search or change anything.
bexio18

Create a Project

Action

In MakeCreates a new project.

Signed work can open its own bexio project through Create a Project, without an admin copying details from the contract.

When to use it
a deal is marked as won in your CRM and delivery should start with a bexio project ready for time tracking.
Watch out
if the CRM sends the same won deal more than once, you get several projects; search first with Search Projects.
bexio19

Update a Project

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified project.

Update a Project brings an existing bexio project in line with changes made elsewhere, so the project list your team bills from never drifts.

When to use it
the project lead renames or reassigns a project in the task tool and bexio should say the same thing.
Watch out
map every value you want to keep; test with Run once and compare the project before and after.
bexio20

Delete a Project

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified project.

Delete a Project removes one bexio project, the one you map from an earlier module, and leaves every other project untouched.

When to use it
a project opened by mistake from a CRM duplicate should be cleared before anyone logs time on it.
Watch out
the doc is silent on hours already booked to the project, so check that it is empty before the scenario deletes it.

Quotes

5 modules
bexio21

Search Quotes

Search

In MakeSearches for quotes.

Search Quotes finds the bexio quotes that match your query and hands each one on as a bundle, which is how a scenario checks whether a client already has a quote.

When to use it
before Create a Quote, to avoid drafting a second offer for a request that was already answered.
Watch out
an empty result is normal for a new client; make sure the scenario still continues in that case.
bexio22

Get a Quote

Action

In MakeReturns a specified quote.

Get a Quote reads a single quote in full, so its content can be reused in a follow-up email or copied into your CRM deal.

When to use it
Watch Quotes has passed a quote and the sales rep wants the details pinned to the deal.
Watch out
it reads only; to change the quote, add Update a Quote after it.
bexio23

Create a Quote

Action

In MakeCreates a new quote.

Create a Quote drafts a new bexio quote from data gathered elsewhere, so the sales rep starts from a document instead of a blank screen.

When to use it
a request arrives from a web form and the matching client has been found with Search Contacts.
Watch out
map the contact returned by the search; a quote with no client attached is useless to the person who has to send it.
bexio24

Update a Quote

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified quote.

Update a Quote edits an existing quote when the deal moves, keeping bexio and your sales tool telling the same story.

When to use it
a client negotiates in the CRM and the bexio quote should carry the new terms before it is sent again.
Watch out
Watch Quotes may pick up your update; if both are in one scenario, test the pair with Run once.
bexio25

Delete a Quote

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified quote.

Delete a Quote removes one quote you map from bexio, which keeps the list clean when drafts pile up from automated requests.

When to use it
a request turns out to be spam after the quote was drafted, and the draft should not linger.
Watch out
there is no word in the doc on recovering a deleted quote; filter carefully what reaches this module.

Invoices

6 modules
bexio26

Search Invoices

Search

In MakeSearches for invoices.

Search Invoices finds bexio invoices matching your query and returns one bundle each, which is the starting point for reminders, reports and checks.

When to use it
a client asks for a copy of an invoice and you want it located before Export Invoice to PDF runs.
Watch out
a broad query can return many invoices, and each one costs operations in every module after it.
bexio27

Get an Invoice

Action

In MakeReturns a specified invoice.

Get an Invoice returns one invoice with its details, so another app can show or reuse them without a login to bexio.

When to use it
Watch Invoices has passed an invoice and your finance sheet needs its full content in a row.
Watch out
this module returns data, not a document; for a file you can attach, use Export Invoice to PDF.
bexio28

Export Invoice to PDF

Action

In MakeReturns a PDF document of the invoice.

Export Invoice to PDF turns a bexio invoice into a PDF file inside your scenario, ready to attach to an email or save in a drive.

When to use it
every invoice should also sit in the cloud folder your fiduciary opens, without a manual download.
Watch out
on the Free plan, files above 5 MB are refused, so heavy invoices with many pages may need a paid plan.
bexio29

Create an Invoice

Action

In MakeCreates a new invoice.

Billing can start from another tool: Create an Invoice writes a new invoice in bexio from data your shop, CRM or time tracker already holds.

When to use it
a project is closed in your task tool and the final invoice should be drafted in bexio right away.
Watch out
a duplicate invoice is worse than a duplicate contact; search first with Search Invoices before this module writes.
bexio30

Update an Invoice

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified invoice.

Update an Invoice changes an invoice already in bexio, so corrections made upstream do not have to be retyped by accounting.

When to use it
a billing detail is corrected in your CRM and the bexio invoice should match before it is sent.
Watch out
try it on a draft invoice with Run once first; the doc does not say which invoices bexio lets you edit.
bexio31

Delete an Invoice

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified invoice.

Delete an Invoice removes one invoice you map from bexio. Useful for clearing drafts a scenario created by mistake.

When to use it
a test run produced invoices that must not reach clients or your books.
Watch out
keep this module for drafts, and talk to your fiduciary before letting a scenario delete anything that reached a client.

Payments

3 modules
bexio32

List Payments

Search

In MakeReturns a list of payments.

List Payments returns the payments bexio holds as a series of bundles, which a scenario can total, compare or copy to another tool.

When to use it
your cash-flow sheet should show payments bexio has recorded, next to the forecast.
Watch out
a long list means many bundles, and each later module spends one operation per payment; keep the scenario short.
bexio33

Cancel a Payment

Action

In MakeCancels an existing payment.

Cancel a Payment cancels an existing payment in bexio, the one you map, so a booking that should no longer count gets corrected from your scenario.

When to use it
your payment provider reports a charge as reversed and bexio should reflect it the next time the scenario runs.
Watch out
cancelling and deleting are two separate modules; test both on a sample payment and pick the result your accountant expects.
bexio34

Delete a Payment

Action

In MakeDeletes a payment.

Delete a Payment erases a payment from bexio, the other way to deal with a booking besides Cancel a Payment.

When to use it
a payment was booked twice by an earlier automation and the copy has to go.
Watch out
map the payment from List Payments or Watch Payments and test on a sample; one wrong mapping removes a real booking.

Timesheets

5 modules
bexio35

Search Timesheets

Search

In MakeSearches for timesheets.

Search Timesheets finds the time entries in bexio that match your query and returns each as a bundle, ready to be summed or checked.

When to use it
before invoicing a project, to gather the hours logged against it in a sheet the client can read.
Watch out
each entry is a bundle; summing many of them in another app costs one operation per entry.
bexio36

Get a Timesheet

Action

In MakeReturns a specified timesheet.

Get a Timesheet reads one time entry in full, so its details can reach a report, a message or an approval step.

When to use it
Watch Timesheets has passed an entry and the project lead wants to review it in the team chat.
Watch out
it does not list or change entries; combine it with Search Timesheets or Update a Timesheet.
bexio37

Create a Timesheet

Action

In MakeCreates a new timesheet.

Hours tracked in another app land in bexio through Create a Timesheet, so billing works from the same numbers as the team.

When to use it
consultants log time in a calendar or timer app and bexio should hold those hours on the right project.
Watch out
map the project from Search Projects; an entry on the wrong project is easy to miss until the invoice goes out.
bexio38

Update a Timesheet

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified timesheet.

Update a Timesheet corrects an entry that already exists in bexio, so late fixes made in the timer app reach billing too.

When to use it
someone changes the hours of a past entry in the tracking tool and bexio should follow.
Watch out
a scenario that both watches and updates timesheets can trigger itself; test the pair with Run once.
bexio39

Delete a Timesheet

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified timesheet.

Delete a Timesheet takes one entry out of bexio, the one you map, and leaves the rest of the project's hours alone.

When to use it
an entry was removed in the tracking tool and should not end up on the client invoice.
Watch out
once hours are invoiced, removing them in bexio may not be what accounting wants; check before automating it.

Files

6 modules
bexio40

Search Files

Search

In MakeSearches for files.

Search Files looks up documents stored in bexio and returns each match as a bundle, ready for Download a File or a copy to your drive.

When to use it
a client asks for a contract kept in bexio and you want it found without opening the app.
Watch out
a vague query returns many files, and downloading each of them adds to the transfer your plan allows.
bexio41

Download a File

Action

In MakeDownloads a specified file.

Download a File pulls the actual content of a bexio file into your scenario, so the next module can store it, attach it or pass it on. You get the file itself, not just its description.

When to use it
a receipt lands in bexio and you want a copy in the shared drive your accountant already uses.
Watch out
feed it the ID of one file, usually from Search Files or Watch Files; it handles one bundle, meaning one file, per run of the module.
bexio42

Get a File

Action

In MakeReturns information about the specified file.

Get a File returns the details bexio keeps about one file without moving the file itself. That keeps the scenario light when all you need is to check what a document is before deciding the next step.

When to use it
a filter later in the flow needs to know which file it is dealing with before anything gets copied or removed.
Watch out
it reads information only; if the next app needs the content, switch to Download a File.
bexio43

Upload a File

Action

In MakeUploads a new file.

Upload a File sends a file from another app into bexio, so documents collected elsewhere end up next to your contacts, invoices and projects. No more manual drag and drop between tools.

When to use it
a signed contract arrives as an email attachment and should sit in bexio with the rest of the client paperwork.
Watch out
map the file data from the previous module with care; if that module returned nothing, there is nothing to upload and the run stops there.
bexio44

Update a File

Action

In MakeUpdates a specified file.

Update a File changes a file that already exists in bexio instead of adding a second copy. Your file list stays clean, and anyone looking for the document finds a single, current version.

When to use it
a revised price list replaces the one uploaded earlier, and the team should keep working from the same entry.
Watch out
point it at the right file ID; running Search Files first is the safest way to find it.
bexio45

Delete a File

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified file.

Delete a File removes one file from your bexio account. Useful for tidying up once a document has been archived somewhere else by an earlier module of the same scenario.

When to use it
after Download a File has sent a copy to your long-term storage, and the original no longer needs to take space in bexio.
Watch out
the doc says nothing about restoring a deleted file, so test with Run once on a throwaway file before you switch the scenario on.

Manual Entries

1 module
bexio46

Create a Manual Entry

Action

In MakeCreates a new manual entry for the account ledger.

Create a Manual Entry writes an entry into the account ledger of bexio, straight from your scenario. Bookkeeping that used to be typed by hand can start from an event in another tool.

When to use it
a payout or a fee shows up in another system and your bookkeeper wants it booked in bexio without retyping it.
Watch out
an entry lands in your books, so check each mapped amount on a Run once test before letting the scenario run on its own.

Other

1 module
bexio47

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitrary authorized API call.

Make an API Call reaches any endpoint of the bexio API with the connection you already set up, which covers what the 62 listed modules leave out. No second login, no separate authorization.

When to use it
the object or the option you need has no dedicated module on this page.
Watch out
you work with the bexio API documentation open next to Make, because you write the request yourself instead of filling a guided form.

Other modules

6 modules
bexio48

Create a Country

Action

In MakeCreates a new country.

Create a Country adds a new country to the country list of your bexio account. It keeps that reference list in step with the markets you start selling to, without a trip to the settings.

When to use it
a scenario brings in a customer from a country your bexio account does not list yet.
Watch out
run Search Countries first, otherwise a second run may add the same country twice.

Delete a Country

Action

In MakeDeletes a specified country.

Delete a Country removes a country from the country list of your bexio account. It is the cleanup step of that list, useful when an entry was added by mistake.

When to use it
a test scenario created countries you never meant to keep.
Watch out
the doc says nothing about restoring a country, so check the ID with Get a Country or Search Countries before you switch the scenario on.

Get a Country

Action

In MakeReturns a specified country.

Get a Country fetches one country from your bexio account by its ID and hands its details to the next module. Handy when a record only carries a country reference and you need the full entry.

When to use it
a module earlier in the flow returned a country ID and a later step needs the readable details.
Watch out
you need the exact ID; if you only know the name, start with Search Countries instead.

Send an Invoice

Action

In MakeSends an invoice by email.

Send an Invoice emails an invoice straight from bexio, so the customer gets it as soon as the scenario decides the invoice is ready. Nobody has to open bexio and click send.

When to use it
right after Create an Invoice, for an order confirmed in your shop or your CRM.
Watch out
once the email is out, Make cannot pull it back; test the whole chain with Run once on an invoice addressed to yourself.

Update a Country

Action

In MakeUpdates a country.

Update a Country edits a country that already exists in your bexio account rather than creating a new one. Your reference list stays correct and free of near duplicates.

When to use it
a country entry was saved with a typo and several contacts point to it.
Watch out
check with Get a Country that you are editing the right entry, then read the result of a Run once.

Search Countries

Search

In MakeSearches for countries.

Search Countries looks through the country list of your bexio account and returns every match as its own bundle. It answers a simple question: does this country already exist?

When to use it
before Create a Country, to avoid adding an entry twice.
Watch out
a search can return zero, one or several bundles; add a filter after it so the next module only runs on the result you expect.

FAQ

Questions about bexio and Make

01Is the bexio Make integration free?
Yes, on Make's side. bexio is a standard app, available from the Free plan, which lets you keep 2 scenarios active, run them at most every 15 minutes, with 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Paid plans (Core, Pro, Teams and Enterprise) lower the interval to 1 minute, remove the cap on active scenarios and allow 40 minutes of execution. Usage is counted in operations, one per module per bundle. The bexio subscription itself is separate: the doc says you need a paid bexio account.
02What does it take to connect bexio to Make?
A bexio account and a Make account. The doc asks for a paid bexio account. In Make, you add a bexio module, click Create a connection, name it if you like, then sign in with your bexio email address and password and click Allow. Companies that run their own bexio app can paste client credentials under Show advanced settings, with the redirect address the doc gives. After that, every bexio module in every scenario reuses the same connection, so you only do it once.
03Do bexio triggers in Make fire instantly?
No. All 9 bexio triggers are scheduled: Make checks bexio at the interval set on the scenario, every 15 minutes by default. On the Free plan, 15 minutes is also the shortest gap between two checks; paid plans go down to 1 minute. bexio has no instant trigger in Make, so a scenario learns about a new invoice or contact at the next check, not the second it happens. For most accounting flows, that small wait is fine.
04What if a bexio module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. The bexio app includes this module, which calls any endpoint of the bexio API with the same connection you already set up. It covers what the 62 listed modules leave out, provided you are comfortable reading the bexio API documentation. Start with a Run once on a test record, read the bundle the call returns, and only then map its data into the next module of your scenario. For everyday tasks, stay with the dedicated modules: they fill in like a guided form.
05Should a bexio user choose Make or n8n?
It depends on the tool your team already uses. This page covers Make, where bexio offers 62 modules and a guided connection by email and password. The same app often has an n8n node too, so if your team works in n8n, check what that node covers against the steps you need. Base the choice on the modules each tool offers for your flow and on the tool your team knows, not on a general ranking.
