What you can automate

What can the Outreach Make integration do for your sales team?

The Outreach Make integration links your Outreach account to Make so that calls, emails, tasks and records can start or feed a scenario, which is the automation you build in Make as a chain of modules. Each module is one brick of that chain: a trigger that listens, an action that writes, or a search that looks something up. No code is required.

Enroll new leads without copy and paste. A lead lands in another tool, Create a Prospect adds the person to Outreach, and Add a Prospect to a Sequence puts them straight into the right cadence of emails and calls.

Act on replies while they are fresh. Watch Emails fires when an email is replied to, bounced or opened, so a reply can move an opportunity forward with Update an Opportunity or flag the prospect with Update a Prospect.

Keep accounts and deals tidy. Search Accounts checks whether a company already exists before Create an Account runs, which avoids duplicate records when several sources push the same company.

Two limits to know before you start. Outreach is an Enterprise app in Make, so it only runs on the Enterprise plan; check the Make pricing guide if your plan is unclear. And when a listed module does not cover your case, Make an API Call reaches the rest of the Outreach API with the same connection. The same app often has an n8n node too; the n8n vs Make comparison helps you pick, and the Make training covers the editor from scratch.

Connect

How do you connect Outreach to Make?

  1. 01

    Add an Outreach module

In a new scenario, click the +, type Outreach in the search box and pick any module, for example Watch Emails. A connection is your Outreach account linked to Make once, then reused by every Outreach module you add later.

  2. 02

    Create and name the connection

Click Create a connection. Make lets you give it a name; that step is optional, but a clear label such as the workspace owner helps when several people share the same Make organization.

  3. 03

    Authorize Make and save

Follow what the window shows: either approve access on the Outreach page, or paste the key Outreach gives you. Then click Save. Once saved, the module can list the records it reads from your account.

First scenario

Your first scenario: flag prospects who reply

GoalWhen a prospect replies to an email in Outreach, Make updates that prospect record so the rep sees it at once.

  1. 01

    Create the scenario

Open the Scenarios page, create a new scenario and click the + in the middle of the canvas. This first module is the one that starts everything.

  2. 02

    Add Watch Emails

Search Outreach, pick Watch Emails and select the connection you created. It is an instant trigger: Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as an email event happens, shown by the lightning badge.

  3. 03

    Fetch the prospect

Click the + on the right, add Get a Prospect and map the prospect ID, if the email bundle carries one: the first Run once shows you what it contains. A bundle, one item passing from module to module, now carries the full prospect.

  4. 04

    Update the record

Add Update a Prospect, map the same ID and set the field your team uses to spot hot replies. Make lists what it can read from your account once the connection exists.

  5. 05

    Test with Run once

Click Run once, then reply to a test email in Outreach. Opens and deliveries arrive too, so look at which event came in. Open each module's bubble to read the bundle it received and confirm the right prospect changed.

  6. 06

    Switch it on

When the test looks right, turn the scenario on. From then on, each email event reaches Make on its own, and every module run counts as an operation on your plan.

Triggers

Triggers: what starts an Outreach scenario

4 modules start a scenario when something happens in Outreach. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by Outreach as soon as it happens.

Outreach1Watch Calls

Watch Calls

Instant trigger

In MakeTriggers when a new call is created, updated or deleted.

Your scenario starts whenever a call is logged, edited or removed in Outreach, so call activity can flow to other tools without anyone retyping notes.

How it fires
instant, Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as it happens, which is why the module shows a lightning badge.
When to use it
a rep logs a call with a new lead and your team wants the related opportunity touched or a manager told right away.
Watch out
deletions and edits fire too, so a later module has to handle a call that no longer exists.
Outreach2Watch Emails

Watch Emails

Instant trigger

In MakeTriggers when an email is created, updated, deleted, bounced, delivered, opened or replied.

This trigger turns the life of an Outreach email into scenario runs: creation, update, deletion, bounce, delivery, open and reply each send a bundle to Make.

How it fires
instant, Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as it happens.
When to use it
you care about replies and bounces, for instance to mark a prospect as engaged or to fix a bad address.
Watch out
opens and deliveries arrive as well, so a busy sequence produces many runs and each module run is an operation counted on your plan.
Outreach3Watch Resources

Watch Resources

Instant trigger

In MakeTriggers if any resource is created, updated or deleted.

Watch Resources is the wide net: it starts the scenario when any Outreach resource is created, updated or deleted, not just one object type.

How it fires
instant, Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as it happens.
When to use it
you need an audit trail of changes across the account, or no dedicated trigger covers the object you follow.
Watch out
because every change counts, volume can be high; pick Watch Calls, Watch Emails or Watch Tasks when one of them covers your need.
Outreach4Watch Tasks

Watch Tasks

Instant trigger

In MakeTriggers when a task is created, updated, destroyed or completed.

Follow the to-do list of your reps: the scenario runs when an Outreach task is created, updated, destroyed or completed.

How it fires
instant, Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as it happens.
When to use it
a completed task should push the next move elsewhere, such as logging progress on the opportunity or pinging a teammate in chat.
Watch out
a task that is simply edited also starts a run, so check which event you received before acting on it.
Modules

Actions and searches: what Make can do in Outreach

Outreach gives you 20 modules. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Outreach1

Add a Prospect to a Sequence

Action

In MakeAdds a prospect to a sequence.

Put a prospect into an Outreach sequence from Make, so the planned emails and calls start without a rep enrolling them by hand.

When to use it
right after Create a Prospect, once a lead from a form or event list is in Outreach.
Watch out
you need the sequence ID; Search Sequences finds it for you.
Outreach2

Create an Account

Action

In MakeCreates a new account.

Creates a company record in Outreach, giving new prospects an account to hang from and keeping reporting grouped by company.

When to use it
a deal is signed in another system and the customer's company must appear in Outreach.
Watch out
run Search Accounts first, otherwise the same company can end up twice.
Outreach3

Create an Opportunity

Action

In MakeCreates a new opportunity.

Opens a new deal in Outreach from any event in your scenario, so pipeline tracking starts at the moment interest appears.

When to use it
a demo request or a positive reply should turn into an opportunity your reps can work.
Watch out
link it to the right account, which Search Accounts or Get an Account can supply.
Outreach4

Create a Prospect

Action

In MakeCreates a new prospect.

Adds a person to Outreach as a prospect, the starting point for any sequence or call your team plans with them.

When to use it
leads come from a website form, a webinar list or a spreadsheet and should reach Outreach without an import file.
Watch out
check with Search Prospects first when the same person may come in twice.
Outreach5

Create a Template

Action

In MakeCreates a new template.

Creates a template in Outreach, so the reusable copy your reps send is managed from one central place instead of typed in the app.

When to use it
your marketing team writes approved messages in a document or database and wants them available to reps.
Watch out
each run creates a new template, so guard the scenario against running twice on the same text.
Outreach6

Delete a Template

Action

In MakeDestroys the selected template.

Removes a template from Outreach for good, which keeps the library clean when a message is retired.

When to use it
an offer ends and its template must disappear so nobody sends outdated copy.
Watch out
the template is destroyed as soon as the module runs, so test with Run once on a throwaway template before switching the scenario on.
Outreach7

Get an Account

Action

In MakeRetrieves a specific account by its ID.

Reads one Outreach account in full from its ID, giving later modules the company details to map.

When to use it
a trigger hands you only an account ID and the next step needs the name or other details of that company.
Watch out
it needs the exact ID; when you only know a name, reach for Search Accounts instead.
Outreach8

Get an Opportunity

Action

In MakeRetrieves a specific opportunity by its ID.

Pulls a single opportunity by ID so its current state can drive the rest of the scenario, for example what to update or who to notify.

When to use it
a task or call event points to a deal and you want to read that deal before changing anything.
Watch out
without an ID, Search Opportunities is the module that finds deals.
Outreach9

Get a Prospect

Action

In MakeRetrieves a specific prospect by its ID.

Returns the complete record of one prospect from its ID, which is handy when a trigger only carries a reference.

When to use it
after Watch Emails, to know who replied before updating a CRM or alerting the owner.
Watch out
it reads one prospect only; lists of people come from Search Prospects.
Outreach10

Make an API Call

Action

In MakePerforms an arbitary authorized API call.

Reaches any endpoint of the Outreach API from your scenario, reusing the connection you already made, so gaps in the list of modules stop being dead ends.

When to use it
you need an object or an operation that none of the other modules offers.
Watch out
you build the request yourself, so keep the Outreach API documentation open while you set it up.
Outreach11

Update an Account

Action

In MakeUpdates an account specified by ID.

Changes an existing Outreach account identified by ID, keeping company data aligned with the system your team trusts most.

When to use it
a company changes owner or status in your billing or CRM tool and Outreach should follow.
Watch out
the ID must point to the right account, so fetch it with Search Accounts when in doubt.
Outreach12

Update an Opportunity

Action

In MakeUpdates the selected opportunity.

Edits the opportunity you select, which is how an outside event can move a deal along in Outreach without a manual click.

When to use it
a contract is signed or a payment arrives elsewhere and the deal should reflect it.
Watch out
be sure you target the right deal: fetch it first with Get an Opportunity or Search Opportunities.
Outreach13

Update a Prospect

Action

In MakeUpdates a prospect specified by ID.

Rewrites fields of a known prospect, found by ID, so the person's record in Outreach matches what just happened elsewhere.

When to use it
a reply, a meeting booked or an unsubscribe in another tool should show on the prospect.
Watch out
pair it with Get a Prospect or Search Prospects to be sure you edit the right person.
Outreach14

Update a Template

Action

In MakeUpdates the selected template.

Refreshes the content of an existing Outreach template, so reps always send the latest approved version.

When to use it
a pricing line or a signature changes in your source document and every template using it needs the change.
Watch out
the change applies to the template everyone uses, so test on a copy before activating.
Outreach15

Search Accounts

Search

In MakeLists accounts, with filters.

Looks up Outreach accounts that match your filters and hands them to the next module, one bundle per company found.

When to use it
before creating an account, to check whether that company is already there.
Watch out
a search can return zero, one or many accounts, so the next steps must cope with each case.
Outreach16

Search Opportunities

Search

In MakeList opportunities, with filters.

Finds deals in Outreach using filters, which gives you a way to act on a set of opportunities rather than a single one.

When to use it
you want every open deal tied to an account that just changed status.
Watch out
each result becomes its own bundle, and each later module run on it counts as an operation.
Outreach17

Search Prospects

Search

In MakeLists prospects, with filters.

Lists Outreach prospects that match the filters you set, making it the way to find people when you have no ID.

When to use it
a lead arrives from a form and you need to know if that person is already a prospect.
Watch out
an empty result is normal; plan what the scenario does when nobody matches.
Outreach18

Search Sequences

Search

In MakeLists sequences, with filters.

Returns the Outreach sequences matching your filters, so a scenario can choose a sequence by name rather than by a hard-coded ID.

When to use it
just before Add a Prospect to a Sequence, to pick the right one for the lead's segment.
Watch out
several sequences can match loose filters, so narrow them.
Outreach19

Search Steps of a Sequence

Search

In MakeGets all steps of a sequence specified by ID.

Gets every step of one sequence from its ID, letting you see how a sequence is built from inside a scenario.

When to use it
you document your sequences in a shared table or check their structure before enrolling prospects.
Watch out
it needs the sequence ID, which Search Sequences provides.
Outreach20

Search Users

Search

In MakeLists users, with filters.

Lists the users of your Outreach workspace that match your filters, which gives you owners to assign or notify.

When to use it
a new account needs an owner, or an alert must reach the rep behind a prospect.
Watch out
it only reads users and changes nothing; the assigning or the alert happens in the module you add after it.

FAQ

Outreach and Make: frequent questions

01Is the Outreach Make integration free?
No. Outreach is an Enterprise app in Make, and enterprise apps are reserved to the Enterprise plan. The Free plan gives access to 3,000+ standard apps with 2 active scenarios and a 15 minute minimum interval, but not to Outreach. Core, Pro and Teams do not include it either. Usage on Enterprise is counted in credits, where each module run on one bundle is an operation. Check with whoever manages your Make organization before building.
02What do you need to connect Outreach to Make?
You need an Outreach account and a Make organization on the Enterprise plan. The Make documentation lists no other prerequisite. In the scenario, add any Outreach module, click Create a connection, optionally name it, then authorize Make on the Outreach page or paste the key Outreach gives you, and click Save. That single connection is then reused by all 24 Outreach modules, including Make an API Call, so you never repeat the authorization step for each new module you add.
03Do Outreach triggers in Make fire in real time?
Yes. All 4 Outreach triggers are instant: Watch Calls, Watch Emails, Watch Resources and Watch Tasks. Outreach calls Make through a webhook as soon as the event happens, instead of Make checking on a schedule. That is shown by the lightning badge on the module. Once the scenario is switched on, each call, email, task or resource change reaches Make on its own, and every module run counts as an operation.
04What if an Outreach module is missing in Make?
Use Make an API Call. It reaches any endpoint of the Outreach API from the scenario, with the connection you already set up, so objects or operations absent from the other modules of the list stay within reach of your scenario. You write the request yourself, following the Outreach API documentation. If the blocker is the plan rather than a module, remember that the app only runs on the Enterprise plan, whatever request you write.
05Should you use Make or n8n for Outreach?
It depends on the tool your team already uses. In Make, Outreach comes with 24 modules, 4 of them instant triggers, and it requires the Enterprise plan. The same app often has an n8n node too, so the choice rests on which editor your team knows, which plan you hold and whether the modules you need exist on each side. Compare the lists of modules against your scenario before deciding.
