What you can automate

What can the Routio Make integration do for your sales team?

The Routio Make integration links your Routio account to Make, a no-code tool where you build a scenario: an automation made of modules, each one a single brick such as a trigger or an action. With Routio you get two bricks, one that notices new leads and one that adds a lead, so contacts stop being copied by hand between tools.

Leads captured elsewhere, filed in Routio. When a prospect fills a form or books a call in another app, the Create a Lead module writes that person into Routio. Your sales reps open Routio and find the lead already there, with the details the other app collected.

Fresh Routio leads, shared with the rest of the stack. Watch New Lead picks up each lead added in Routio and hands it to whatever module comes next: a team chat message, a spreadsheet row, a mailing list. Each lead travels as one bundle, meaning one item passed from module to module.

One place for leads from several sources. Several scenarios, each starting from a different app, can all end on Create a Lead, so Routio stays the list your team works from.

Be aware of the limits. Make states that its documentation for Routio is incomplete because little public information about the app exists: no field list, no setup notes, and no module description. There is also no Make an API Call module for Routio, so what the two modules cover is what you can automate. If you want a broader picture of the platform first, the Make review is a good start, and the Make training walks you through the editor. Routio may also exist as an n8n node; the n8n vs Make comparison helps you weigh the two tools on your own criteria.

Connect

How do you connect your Routio account to Make?

  1. 01

    Add a Routio module

In a scenario, add any Routio module, then click Create a connection. A connection is your Routio account linked to Make once and then reused by every Routio module you add later.

  2. 02

    Give the connection a name

This step is optional, yet it pays off if your team uses more than one Routio account. A clear name tells you which account a module writes into when you come back to the scenario weeks later.

  3. 03

    Authorize Make and save

Depending on what Routio asks for, approve access on the Routio page that opens, or paste the key Routio gives you. Then click Save, and the module lists what Make can read from your account.

First scenario

Your first scenario: send leads from another app into Routio

GoalWhen a lead arrives in another app, Make creates the same lead in Routio.

  1. 01

    Create a new scenario

Open the Scenarios page, create a new scenario, and click the + to place the first module. That first bubble is the app where your leads arrive today, such as a form tool.

  2. 02

    Set up the source module

Search for your source app, pick the module that returns new entries, and connect its account. Once connected, Make lists the forms or lists it can read, so you choose from a menu.

  3. 03

    Add Create a Lead

Click the + on the right of the first module, search for Routio, and pick Create a Lead. Create your Routio connection, then map the lead details coming from the source module.

  4. 04

    Test with Run once

Submit one test entry in the source app, then click Run once. Open the bubble above each module to read the bundle it received, and check in Routio that the lead appeared.

  5. 05

    Schedule and switch it on

On the first module, open the clock and keep the default schedule of every 15 minutes, or pick another interval your plan allows. Switch the scenario on, and leads start flowing into Routio.

Triggers

What starts a Routio scenario

1 module starts a scenario when something happens in Routio. A scheduled trigger is checked by Make on the scenario's schedule; an instant one is called by Routio as soon as it happens.

Routio1Watch New Lead

Watch New Lead

triggerIn the docs only

Every lead that enters Routio can set off the rest of your scenario, so a salesperson, a spreadsheet or a chat channel hears about it without anyone forwarding it. Each new lead becomes one bundle for the next module.

How it fires
scheduled: Make checks Routio on the scenario's schedule, every 15 minutes by default and never more often than your plan allows, which is 15 minutes on the Free plan and 1 minute on paid plans.
When to use it
the lead is born in Routio and another tool needs to know.
Watch out
Make publishes no description for this module and its scheduled type is inferred from its name, so check the clock badge, run it once and read the bundle to see which details it returns.
Modules

What the Routio module does

Routio gives you 1 module. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Routio1

Create a Lead

ActionIn the docs only

This module saves you from retyping contacts: it adds a lead to Routio from data that another module already holds, like a form answer or a booked meeting, and it acts on one item each time it runs.

When to use it
a prospect shows up outside Routio and your reps should find them there.
Watch out
the doc lists no fields for this module, so check in Routio which details land where after your first Run once.

FAQ

Routio and Make: common questions

01Is the Routio Make integration free?
Yes, Routio is a standard app in Make, so both modules work on the Free plan. That plan has limits worth knowing: 2 active scenarios, at least 15 minutes between scheduled runs, 5 minutes of execution per run, files up to 5 MB and 512 MB of data transfer. Each module run on one bundle counts as one operation, the unit Make tracks on your plan. Paid plans lower the minimum interval to 1 minute and remove the cap on active scenarios. Make does not publish a price for Routio itself, so check your Routio plan separately.
02What do you need to connect Routio to Make?
You need a Routio account and a Make account. Make's documentation lists no prerequisite and gives no official connection steps for Routio, so the generic flow applies. Add a Routio module, click Create a connection, name it if you wish, then either approve access on the Routio page or paste the key Routio provides, and click Save. The connection is then reused by both Routio modules, so you only do this once per account. If something blocks at the authorization screen, follow what Routio displays.
03Does the Routio trigger react in real time?
Very likely not. Make's doc gives no description of Watch New Lead, and its type is inferred from its name: a scheduled trigger, where Make checks Routio on the schedule you set on the first module, rather than being alerted the moment a lead appears. A new scenario checks every 15 minutes by default. On the Free plan, 15 minutes is also the shortest gap allowed, while paid plans go down to 1 minute. You can spot the type in the editor thanks to the clock badge on the module. If a lead needs faster handling, shorten the interval within what your plan permits.
04What if the Routio module you need is missing?
It depends on what you need. Routio has only two modules in Make, Watch New Lead and Create a Lead, and no Make an API Call module to reach other parts of the Routio API. So updating, searching or deleting leads is not possible through Make today. Make also states that its Routio documentation is limited. If your process needs more, look at whether another app in your stack can hold that step, or ask a Make agency to review the case before you build around the gap.
05Should you use Make or n8n for Routio?
It depends on the tool your team already uses. In Make, Routio offers 2 modules: a scheduled trigger for new leads and an action that creates a lead, both on the Free plan. Routio may also exist as an n8n node, so check what that node covers before choosing. Compare the modules each tool offers for Routio, the other apps your scenario must reach, and where your team feels at ease building. Neither tool is ranked here; the right pick is the one covering your whole flow.
