What the ablefy Zapier integration actually does
ablefy is the platform coaches, online teachers, consultants and service providers use to sell and get paid. The ablefy Zapier integration lets Zapier react to what happens in your ablefy account: a Zap (the automation you build in Zapier) starts on a payment, a refund or a ticket, then gives out a coupon, free access or an affiliate invitation.
Three results worth building first. Buyers turned into promoters: Initial Product Payment spots the first payment for a given course, and Create Affiliate Publisher Invitation invites that buyer to your affiliate program. Bonus access without manual work: New Event Participants fires on each ticket sold, and Create Free Payment registers the attendee to a free replay or mini course. A coupon ready when a refund lands: New Refund starts the Zap and Create Coupon prepares a discount code for a future offer.
What Zapier does not do for ablefy: it cannot charge anyone, change a price or issue a refund. The only things it writes are coupons, free registrations and affiliate invitations. The rest stays in ablefy. It also cannot catch up on the past: payments taken before the Zap was switched on are never picked up.
If you are still choosing a tool, the same breakdown exists for the ablefy Make integration, and our n8n vs Zapier comparison puts the two tools next to each other.
Zapier in one minute
Eight words you will see in the editor. Each is explained here once, then used as is.
- Zap
- The automation itself: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something on your behalf.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is counted in tasks.
- Instant vs polling
- An instant trigger is reported by the app as it happens. A polling one is checked on a timer. Every ablefy trigger is instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and quietly stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
- Connection
- Your ablefy account, linked to Zapier once and then reused by every ablefy step in every Zap.
What it really costs
Zapier bills tasks, and only completed actions count. Triggers cost nothing, however many payments come in.
- TriggerNever costs a task
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- Premium appNo, ablefy works on the free plan
ablefy is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The free plan, though, stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. Adding a filter, a second action or the Find Coupon search makes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. A failed action is not counted, so a coupon that could not be created costs you nothing. The polling grid below does not concern ablefy: all its triggers are instant.
Connect your ablefy account
- 01
Find ablefy in Apps
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. Type ablefy in the search box and select it. This is done once, then every Zap can use it.
- 02
Sign in to ablefy
Click Add connection and log in to ablefy in the new tab. Use the seller account that owns the products, events and affiliate programs your Zaps will work with.
- 03
Grant access
Accept the access request so Zapier can read your sales and write coupons or registrations for you. Every ablefy step, trigger or action, then reuses this connection.
Your first ablefy Zap, step by step
GoalA buyer pays for your flagship course for the first time and, when the sale meets your rule, gets an invitation to promote it as an affiliate.
- 01
Build the trigger
Create a Zap and pick ablefy with
Initial Product Payment. Enter the Product Slug of your course, so only first payments for that product start the Zap. - 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent matching payments from your account, so you map the next steps on a real sale.
- 03
Add the filter
Add a
Filterstep and set the field, the rule and the value. Use a number rule for amounts and a text rule for words; the wrong type never lets anything through. - 04
Add the invitation
Add ablefy with
Create Affiliate Publisher Invitation. Choose the Affiliate Program, then fill Email from the payment data the test brought back. Test the step. - 05
Publish
Click Publish to turn the Zap on. The filter makes it a three-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan. On the free plan, remove the filter and invite every first buyer.
ablefy triggers
8 events start a Zap when something happens in ablefy, and 8 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Initial Payment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Trigger when an initial payment for any product is processed!”
Starts the Zap when the initial payment for any of your products goes through. It is the broadest sales signal you have: whatever the product, every first payment counts.
Initial Product Payment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an initial payment for specific product is processed.”
The same first-payment signal, narrowed to one product you name. Sales of everything else in your catalog are ignored, which keeps the Zap focused and avoids a filter.
New Email Opt-In
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when product with opt-in with zapier is bought.”
Fires when someone buys a product that carries a Zapier opt-in. It gives you a clean list of buyers who agreed to hear from you, separate from every other sale.
New Event Participants
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when ticket was bought.”
Reacts to each ticket bought for one of your events. The participant becomes the starting point of the Zap, ready to be registered, welcomed or rewarded.
New Payment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new payment is processed.”
Covers every payment ablefy processes, not only the first one. It is the trigger to use when the question is simply whether money came in.
New Product Payment
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new payment for a specific product is processed.”
Every payment for one product you choose, initial or not. Useful when a single offer has its own follow-up and you do not want the rest of the catalog in the way.
New Refund
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Trigger when new refund processed!”
Fires when a refund is processed in ablefy. It is the one trigger about money going out, which makes it the natural start for anything you do after a lost sale.
Order State Updates
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when order state is changed.”
Follows the life of an order: the Zap starts each time its state changes. One order can therefore fire it several times as it moves along.
ablefy actions
ablefy gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Affiliate Publisher Invitation
ActionIn Zapier“Creates publisher invitation for selected affiliate program.”
Sends a publisher invitation for the affiliate program you select, to the email you map.
Create Coupon
ActionIn Zapier“Creates an individual coupon code.”
Generates an individual coupon code in ablefy, with its name, code and value.
Create Free Payment
ActionIn Zapier“Register user to a free product, ticket or course.”
Registers someone to a free product, ticket or course, as if they had checked out at no cost.
ablefy search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in ablefy, so a later step can use it.
A search step reads what already exists instead of creating it. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.
Find Coupon
SearchFind or createIn Zapier“Finds an existing coupon.”
Looks up a coupon that already exists in your ablefy account, so later steps can reuse it instead of creating a twin.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that need it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create Coupon if it doesn't exist yet?Ticking it turns the search into a find-or-create: it asks for the fields needed to create the coupon, and the setting above disappears.
- If multiple search results are found?Keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass every match on to the next steps at once.
When an ablefy Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to ablefy, so the cases below are Zapier's general limits, applied to how ablefy sends its events.
None of them warns you. A Zap can look fine for weeks while it misses old sales or hands out duplicate coupons. When numbers stop adding up, our Zapier troubleshooting page lists the checks to run.
Past sales are not replayed
A Zap only sees payments made after you publish it. Buyers from before are never picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.Two triggers, one payment
New Payment and Initial Payment both see a first payment. Two Zaps on them doubles the work and the tasks spent for the same sale.Order states that repeat
Order State Updates fires on every change. A create action behind it, with no filter on the state just reached, repeats on each move.Launch-day floods
A big launch can send Zapier a sudden wave of payments. Its flood protection may hold that batch back instead of running every Zap.
