Active Knocker Zapier integrationAutomate Active Knocker with Zapier.

The Active Knocker Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 1 action and 1 search, all three built around pins. Active Knocker helps field sales teams follow their reps, hand out leads and tag the properties they visit. Below: what each operation does, what it costs, and where it breaks.

Overview

What the Active Knocker Zapier integration actually does

It links Active Knocker to the other apps your sales team uses, through Zapier, without code. A pin created in Active Knocker can start an automation elsewhere, and something happening elsewhere can drop a new pin into Active Knocker or look one up. Three operations in total, so the scope is narrow but clear.

A running log for the sales manager. Every pin a rep creates fires New Pin, and the Zap writes it to a spreadsheet the manager already uses. No more asking reps to export anything.

Inbound leads turned into pins. A website form collects a first name, a last name and an email. Create Pin takes those three values and adds the pin to Active Knocker, so the lead lands where field reps already work.

A check before a follow-up email. Find Pin looks up a pin that already exists, and the next step uses what it found, for example to address a follow-up message to the right person.

What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. There is no instant trigger: New Pin is checked on a timer. There is no action to update or delete a pin, and no find-or-create shortcut on the search. If the plan needs those, look at the n8n vs Zapier comparison before committing, or read the Zapier review for the wider picture.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap, such as a new pin in Active Knocker. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for that event.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you, like a new pin.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, so the steps after it can reuse what it found.
Connection
Your Active Knocker account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that touches the app.
Cost

What it really costs

Active Knocker is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The bill is counted in tasks, not in checks.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Trigger checksNever billed
  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan

The trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier looks for new pins. Each action that succeeds is one task; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, a second action or Find Pin and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. A three-action Zap eats three times more tasks than a one-action Zap, so count actions before counting pins.

Connect

Connect Active Knocker to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your apps

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog opens. Type Active Knocker in its search box and pick the app from the list.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Active Knocker

Click Add connection. A new tab opens on Active Knocker. Sign in with the account whose pins the Zap should read or create. You need an Active Knocker account for this step.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is then saved and reused by every Zap step that touches Active Knocker. If some pins belong to colleagues, the account needs read or write access to them.

First Zap

Your first Zap: new pins to a sheet, then a team ping

GoalEach new pin a rep drops becomes a spreadsheet row, and the team chat gets a short heads-up.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap. For the trigger, pick Active Knocker as the app and New Pin as the event, then select your Active Knocker connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent pins from the connected account. Pick a real one: the mapping in the next steps is built on it.

  3. 03

    Add the spreadsheet step

Add an action in your spreadsheet app and map the pin values into the columns. Test it once and open the sheet to check the row looks right.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Add a second action that posts in the team channel. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan. Each run then costs two tasks.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every new pin is picked up at the next check, on your plan's interval.

Triggers

Active Knocker trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Active Knocker. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Pin

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new pin is created.”

Starts your Zap whenever a pin is added in Active Knocker, so whatever a rep logs in the field can travel on to a sheet, a CRM or a message without anyone copying it by hand.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
when a manager or a back office needs to see field activity in a tool they already open daily, and a delay of one interval is acceptable.
Watch out
a Zap that answers New Pin with Create Pin writes into the very place its trigger watches, so it sets itself off again and again and drains the task count.
Actions

Active Knocker action

Active Knocker gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Pin

Action

In Zapier“Create Pin using Action.”

Adds a new pin to Active Knocker from data that arrives in another app. It asks for three values: First Name, Last Name and Email.

When to use it
to push inbound leads from a web form into the tool your field reps open first.
Watch out
if the source app leaves one of the three fields empty, the step fails and the lead is not created.
Searches

Active Knocker search

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Active Knocker, so a later step can use it.

A search step finds a pin that already exists and hands it to the next steps. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not clean.

1

Find Pin

Search

In Zapier“You can find Pin in the app”

Looks up an existing pin in Active Knocker so the following steps can reuse its details instead of asking for them again.

When to use it
just before a follow-up email or a CRM update, to be sure the pin exists and to pull its values in.
Watch out
adding this search makes the Zap multi-step, and whether it wants an exact or a close match is decided by Active Knocker, not by Zapier.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Find Pin does not offer that variant on Zapier, so a missing pin has to be handled another way.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several pins match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Active Knocker, so the known failure points are the general ones. They still catch most first Zaps.

Four cases are worth knowing before you publish. For a methodical way to read a failed run, the Zapier troubleshooting guide walks through it step by step.

  • Old pins are never picked up

A Zap only reacts to pins created after it is switched on. Pins that already existed stay where they are; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A loop that burns tasks

New Pin feeding Create Pin writes where the trigger watches. Each new pin sets the Zap off again, and the monthly task count goes fast.
  • A bulk import held back

If a mass import suddenly adds a huge batch of pins, Zapier's flood protection can hold the trigger back instead of firing for every one.
  • No duplicates from polling

Zapier remembers which pins it has already seen, so the same pin does not start the Zap twice, even across many checks.

FAQ

Active Knocker Zapier integration: questions

01Is the Active Knocker Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as the Zap stays at two steps. Active Knocker is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is the shape of the Zap: the free plan only builds one trigger plus one action. As soon as you add a filter, a second action or the Find Pin search, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. No price is quoted here because plan grids change too often.
02How many tasks does an Active Knocker Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing else. The New Pin trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks for new pins. A Zap with one action costs one task per run; with three actions, three times more. An action that fails is not counted. So a Zap that logs each new pin in a sheet and posts a message costs two tasks per pin, and you can size your plan from your monthly pin volume.
03Does Active Knocker trigger in real time on Zapier?
No. New Pin is a polling trigger: Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan. That means every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional and every minute on Team and Enterprise. On paid plans you can also run a check by hand from the editor. The type is set by the app itself and cannot be switched to instant from Zapier.
04What does it take to connect Active Knocker to Zapier?
An Active Knocker account, plus read or write access to any pins you do not own and want the Zap to touch. The connection runs from the Apps page of your Zapier account: add a connection, pick Active Knocker, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. Once saved, the connection is reused by every step that uses the app, so you only do it once per account.
05Why does Create Pin fail on some leads?
Usually because one of its three required values is missing. Create Pin needs a First Name, a Last Name and an Email for every pin. If the form or tool upstream lets people skip one of them, the action fails for that run. The one consolation is that Zapier does not bill a failed action as a task. The fix is upstream, by making those fields mandatory where the lead is captured. A quick test run with an incomplete lead shows it straight away.
06What if the Active Knocker operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier alone cannot do it. On Zapier, Active Knocker exposes New Pin, Create Pin and Find Pin, and nothing else: no update, no delete, no instant trigger, no find-or-create. If a workflow depends on one of those, the realistic options are a different automation platform or keeping that part manual. It is worth checking the operation list on the app page before designing the Zap. Building around a missing operation never ends well.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Active Knocker?
It depends on the criterion. On setup effort, Zapier gets a two-step Zap running quickly and on the free plan. On operation coverage, Zapier is limited to the three pin operations listed here, so check what the other platforms expose for Active Knocker. On cost, Zapier bills per successful action, which is easy to predict at low volume. No platform wins on every line; the right pick is the one whose limits your workflow never hits.
