Admiral Zapier integrationAutomate Admiral with Zapier.

The Admiral Zapier integration gives you 5 triggers, 2 actions and 0 searches. All five triggers are instant, so a Zap (an automation that runs on its own) starts the moment Admiral reports an offer, a subscription change or a verified email.

Overview

What the Admiral Zapier integration does for a publisher

Connecting Admiral to Zapier lets Admiral events (an offer accepted, a subscription that ends, an email confirmed, a visitor profile that changes) start work elsewhere, and lets other steps write back into Admiral's visitor data or a subscription's end date. One connection, no code, and the free plan is enough for a first two-step Zap.

A list of confirmed readers. A newsletter publisher can use New Verified Email to learn when an address passes verification, then write a marker back with Update Visitor Data so the visitor record shows the address is good.

A cancellation logged on the visitor. A sports news site can listen for Subscription Cancelled and store, again through Update Visitor Data, a key its own Admiral setup already defines, such as a win-back flag.

A later end date for a reader who said yes. When Offer Accepted fires, a Zap can push back the end of a subscription that is still set to expire, with Update Subscription Expiration.

What Zapier does not do here: Admiral has no search step on Zapier, so a Zap cannot look up a visitor or a subscription by itself, and every ID has to come from an earlier step. No action creates or cancels a subscription either; the expiration action only moves a date that already sits in the future. If you are weighing other tools, the n8n vs Zapier and Make vs Zapier comparisons put the criteria side by side.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here is what each one means, in plain terms.

Zap
The automation you set up on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run again every time that event happens.
Trigger
The Admiral event that starts the Zap, like an accepted offer. Once the Zap is on, Zapier simply waits for it.
Action
The step that does the work after the Zap has started, such as writing a value into an Admiral visitor record.
Task
What Zapier counts against your plan: one action that completed successfully. Your monthly allowance is a number of these.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app calls Zapier as soon as the event happens. Polling: Zapier asks the app on a timer. Admiral's five triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming item meets the condition you set, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Connection
Your Admiral account linked to Zapier one time, then reused by every step, in every Zap, that touches Admiral.
Multi-step Zap
Anything beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes a Zap multi-step, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What an Admiral Zap really costs

Listening to Admiral is free. You pay per action that completes.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month
  • Steps per Zap on Free1 trigger + 1 action
  • Premium appNo
  • Admiral triggers5 instant, 0 polling

A trigger never uses a task, and neither does waiting for new events. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, so a Zap with two actions uses twice as much; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: add a filter or a second action and you need a paid plan. Admiral is not a premium app, so Free accepts it. The grid below sets how often polling triggers are checked. It does not touch Admiral, whose triggers are all instant.

Connect

Connect your Admiral account in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog opens: type Admiral in its search box and pick the app from the list.

  2. 02

Confirm and sign in to Admiral

Click Add connection. A new tab opens on Admiral, where you sign in with the account that manages the property you want to automate. Anything you do not own yourself needs read or write access granted to that account.

  3. 03

    Grant access, then reuse it

Allow Zapier to access the account. The connection is saved, and every Admiral step you add later, trigger or action, in any Zap, picks it from a dropdown instead of asking you to sign in again.

First Zap

Your first Admiral Zap: flag cancelled subscribers

GoalWhen a subscription is cancelled, record it on the visitor so the team sees it in Admiral.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and pick the trigger

In the editor, choose Admiral as the app and Subscription Cancelled as the event. Select your Admiral connection, then the Property whose subscribers you want to watch.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from the connected account, so the rest of the Zap is built on a real cancellation, not on a guess.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a Filter from the plus icon and set the field, the rule and the value. Use a text rule on text and a number rule on numbers, or it never passes. This step makes the Zap multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add Update Visitor Data

Add the Admiral action, choose the Property and the Sub-Action, map the visitor's ID from the test item if it carries one, and type a Key spelled exactly as in the Admiral dashboard.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action once and read what came back. When it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on it reacts to new cancellations only.

Triggers

The 5 Admiral triggers

5 events start a Zap when something happens in Admiral, and 5 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Offer Accepted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a visitor accepts an Offer.”

Starts a Zap as soon as a visitor says yes to one of your Admiral offers, so the follow-up runs without anyone checking the dashboard.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a magazine wants each reader who accepts a retention offer to get a later subscription end date with no manual edit.
Watch out
the trigger needs a Property, and switching on include anonymous visitors makes it fire for every visitor, known or anonymous, which multiplies the actions behind it.
2

Subscription Cancelled

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscriber's subscription is cancelled.”

Each cancelled subscription becomes a starting point: Zapier receives the cancellation and runs whatever steps you placed after it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a trade newsletter wants every cancellation logged on the visitor record, so its team can decide on a win-back attempt later.
Watch out
a subscription that simply reaches its end date is covered by Subscription Expired, a separate trigger, so build both Zaps if you care about both cases.
3

Subscription Expired

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscriber's subscription expires.”

When a subscription runs out, this trigger hands the lapsed subscriber to Zapier so a later step can react on your side.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a local news site wants to tag lapsed readers in their visitor data, so a later campaign can find them again.
Watch out
Update Subscription Expiration only works on subscriptions still set to expire in the future, so it cannot revive the one that just ended here.
4

New Verified Email

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a collected email is verified.”

Fires when an email address Admiral collected passes verification, which gives you a confirmed contact instead of a raw sign-up.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a cooking blog only wants confirmed addresses to receive a marker in their visitor data before any mailing goes out.
Watch out
the Property field is required, so pick the property that actually collects the emails you care about, not the first one in the list.
5

Visitor Data Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when data stored for a visitor is updated, including when it is deleted or created.”

Any change to what Admiral stores about a visitor, including a value being created or deleted, can start a Zap through this trigger.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a membership site wants changes to visitor data copied into another tool as soon as they happen.
Watch out
never pair it with Update Visitor Data on the same property. The Zap writes, the write counts as an update, and the Zap starts itself again.
Actions

The 2 Admiral actions

Admiral gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Update Subscription Expiration

Action

In Zapier“Updates the expiration timestamp on a subscription already set to expire in the future.”

Moves the end date of an existing subscription to a new one, for a subscriber who is already set to expire later on.

When to use it
extending a reader's access right after they accept an offer, without editing the subscription by hand.
Watch out
the new Expires value must be in the future, and the step wants the visitor ID and the Subscription ID, so both have to come from an earlier step.
2

Update Visitor Data

Action

In Zapier“Updates data stored for a visitor”

Changes one piece of the information Admiral keeps on a given visitor, which is how other steps feed Admiral's visitor profiles.

When to use it
storing that a reader cancelled, so the next offer they see can take it into account.
Watch out
the Key must match, character for character, a key already defined on the Visitor Data in the Admiral dashboard. Define it there first.
When it breaks

When an Admiral Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Admiral, so the failures below come from Zapier's general rules and from the Admiral fields themselves.

Six situations cover what goes wrong with this app. Read them before you publish, not after the task count has dropped. For a wider look at failing Zaps, the Zapier troubleshooting guide is the next stop.

  • Nothing from before the Zap

A Zap only reacts to events that happen after you switch it on. Offers accepted or emails verified last week are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap that sets itself off

Visitor Data Updated plus Update Visitor Data on the same property is a loop: each write is a new update, the Zap restarts, and the task count drains fast.
  • A burst held back

After a bulk import or a migration, a trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection instead of running every item.
  • Expiration date refused

Update Subscription Expiration needs a new Expires value in the future, on a subscription already set to expire. A date in the past will not go through.
  • A Key that does not match

Update Visitor Data expects a Key exactly as defined on the Visitor Data in the Admiral dashboard. A typo or a different spelling leaves the step nothing to update.
  • Anonymous visitors switched on

With include anonymous visitors on, a trigger fires for every visitor, known or not. Each run that reaches an action costs a task, so the allowance goes faster.

FAQ

Admiral and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Admiral Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free plan, because Admiral is not a premium app. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, with one limit people tend to miss: each Zap has two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action turns it into a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. So New Verified Email feeding a single Update Visitor Data runs for free, while a filtered cancellation Zap does not.
02How many tasks does an Admiral Zap use?
One task per action that completes successfully, and nothing else. The Admiral trigger never costs a task, and neither does Zapier waiting for new events. A Zap that runs Update Visitor Data once per accepted offer spends one task per offer. Put Update Subscription Expiration behind it and every run costs two. An action that fails is not counted. Watch include anonymous visitors: it lets the trigger fire for every visitor, which can multiply runs and tasks on a busy site.
03Are Admiral triggers real time?
Yes. All five Admiral triggers are instant: Admiral calls Zapier as soon as the event happens, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The polling grid (every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) only applies to triggers Zapier has to check on a timer, and Admiral has none of those. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which is a quick way to confirm it.
04What does it take to connect Admiral to Zapier?
An Admiral account you can sign in to, plus read or write access to anything you want the Zap to touch that you do not own. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, find Admiral, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is saved once and reused by every Admiral step. Every trigger and action then asks for a Property, so check that the account sees the right one before building anything.
05Why does an Admiral Zap keep restarting itself?
Because it writes where its own trigger listens. Visitor Data Updated fires on any change to a visitor's stored data, including creation and deletion. If the same Zap then runs Update Visitor Data on that property, the write counts as a new change, the trigger fires again, and the loop eats tasks until you switch the Zap off. Start Zaps that write visitor data from another trigger, or add a filter that stops on the value the Zap itself just wrote.
06What if the Admiral operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Admiral today. The integration has five triggers and two actions, and both actions are updates: there is no search and no action that creates or cancels a subscription. The list on this page is everything Zapier exposes for this app. A practical route is to start the Zap from an Admiral trigger and handle the missing part in another app's action, or to use a tool where you build the missing step yourself.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Admiral?
It depends on the criterion, not on a winner. To start for free with one trigger and one action, Zapier fits, and all Admiral triggers are instant. If the flow needs a lookup, several branches or many actions per event, count the tasks first, since on Zapier each successful action is billed. If you need a step this integration does not offer, a tool where you build that step yourself gives more room, at the cost of more setup and upkeep.
