Overview

What the ASPSMS Zapier integration is good for

The ASPSMS Zapier integration lets Zapier, a service that runs automations between your apps, send text messages through ASPSMS, an SMS gateway based in Switzerland. ASPSMS has no event of its own to start anything, so another app opens the Zap and ASPSMS sends the SMS at the end.

Reminders that leave on their own. A booking tool starts the Zap and Send SMS texts the client the time and the address. Order updates by text. A shop or an order form records a purchase, and the buyer gets a short confirmation on their phone. Alerts for whoever is on call. An urgent form or a new lead fires a text to a colleague who is not watching their inbox. All three rest on the same step: you choose the number, you write the text, and fields from the starting app slot into it, like a first name or a booking time.

What Zapier does not do here: it cannot read replies, confirm delivery or start a Zap when ASPSMS receives something. Send SMS is the only operation. A Zap also never catches up on the past, so bookings made before you publish it get no text. If you work with Make, the ASPSMS Make integration page covers the same gateway, and the n8n vs Zapier comparison helps if a third tool is on your list.

Vocabulary

Seven Zapier words before you start

The rest of this page leans on these terms. Each one in plain words.

Zap
An automation built in Zapier: a starting event in one app, followed by one or more steps that run every time it happens.
Trigger
The event that opens a Zap. ASPSMS offers none, so the trigger always comes from another app: a booking, a form, an order.
Action
A step that does something for you once the Zap is running. Here it is Send SMS, which texts a phone number.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action that completes without error. Every SMS the Zap sends successfully is one task on your plan.
Polling vs instant
Polling means Zapier checks the starting app on a timer. Instant means that app warns Zapier itself, the second the event occurs.
Filter
A checkpoint between steps: the Zap goes on only when the data meets your rule, for example a phone number that is filled in.
Connection
Your ASPSMS account linked to Zapier one time. Every Zap that sends a text then picks it from a list instead of asking again.
Cost

What a text costs you in Zapier tasks

ASPSMS is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. The step that starts the Zap never costs a task; only a Send SMS that goes through is billed.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, as many Zaps as you want
  • Free plan Zap sizeTwo steps: a trigger and Send SMS
  • Premium appNo, ASPSMS works on the free plan
  • BilledEach successful Send SMS, never the trigger

One SMS sent by the Zap is one task, and a Send SMS that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, so a trigger plus Send SMS fits. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. With no ASPSMS trigger, how fast a text leaves depends on the app that starts the Zap: right away if it is instant, otherwise at the interval of your plan.

Connect

Link your ASPSMS account in three steps

  1. 01

    Go to the Apps page

Log in to Zapier and go to Apps, the page that gathers every account you have linked. Have your ASPSMS login ready: the action itself asks you to create an ASPSMS account first.

  2. 02

    Pick ASPSMS

Hit + Add connection, search for ASPSMS in the dialog that appears and select it. A second button, Add connection, then opens the ASPSMS sign-in in a new tab.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Sign in to ASPSMS in that tab and let Zapier use the account. From then on, every Zap that sends a text offers this connection in a list, with nothing to retype.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a text for every new Calendly booking

GoalEach new booking that carries a phone number gets a confirmation SMS from ASPSMS.

  1. 01

    Start with the booking tool

Create a Zap and choose Calendly with the Invitee Created event. ASPSMS cannot open a Zap, so the booking tool plays that role. Connect your Calendly account.

  2. 02

    Test with a real booking

Run the trigger test. Zapier shows the three latest bookings of the account; choose one that has a phone number, because the SMS step is mapped on it.

  3. 03

    Skip bookings without a number

Use the plus icon to add a Filter. Pick the phone field and a text rule that passes only when it holds a value. No number, no SMS, no failed step.

  4. 04

    Add Send SMS

Choose ASPSMS and Send SMS as the action. Map the phone into To and write the Message, mixing fixed words with the booking time. Under 160 characters, it leaves as one SMS.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Send a test to your own phone first and read it. Then click Publish. From that moment, each new booking with a number gets its text.

Actions

The ASPSMS action

ASPSMS gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send SMS

Action

In Zapier“Sends an SMS using ASPSMS. Create an account at ASPSMS first.”

Texts one phone number through your ASPSMS account, with a message you write or build from earlier steps. Two fields are required: To, the recipient's number, and Message, the text itself.

When to use it
a client books a slot and should find the address and the time on their phone right after.
Watch out
past 160 characters, the text is split into several SMS, so keep reminders short.
When it breaks

Where an ASPSMS Zap goes wrong

Zapier ties no help article to ASPSMS, so these cases mix the two field notes of Send SMS with the limits every Zap shares.

Most of them only show up once real contacts flow through, never with the tidy test record. When a text goes missing, the Zapier troubleshooting page lists the checks to run in order.

  • Long messages turn into several SMS

One SMS holds up to 160 characters. A longer Message is split into several texts, so check how your ASPSMS account handles that before you go live.
  • Numbers in the wrong format

To works best with the international E.164 format: plus sign, country code, then the number. A local number without its country code is the first thing to check.
  • Bookings made before publishing

The Zap only reacts to events that happen after you switch it on. Clients who booked last week get no SMS, and catching them up is a separate job.
  • A burst of events gets held

After a bulk import in the source app, a trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection, sparing you a wave of texts.

FAQ

ASPSMS and Zapier: common questions

01Is the ASPSMS Zapier integration free?
On the Zapier side, yes. ASPSMS is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, each with two steps. A trigger from another app plus Send SMS fits exactly. Add a filter, for example to skip contacts without a phone number, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The texts go out through your own ASPSMS account, which has to exist before you connect it.
02How many tasks does sending an SMS use?
One task per Send SMS that goes through. The trigger from the other app costs nothing, and neither does Zapier checking that app for new events. A failed send is not counted. So a Zap that texts every new booking uses as many tasks as bookings that receive their SMS. Stack a second action, say a row in a sheet after the text, and each run costs two tasks. On the free plan, with 100 tasks a month, that is the number to watch.
03Are ASPSMS texts sent in real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, since ASPSMS has no trigger of its own. If that app has an instant trigger, it warns Zapier the moment something happens and Send SMS runs right away. If it has a polling trigger, Zapier checks it on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. To start a Zap without any ASPSMS event, pick the booking tool, form or shop that holds the information, and put Send SMS after it.
04What does it take to connect ASPSMS to Zapier?
An ASPSMS account comes first: the action itself says to create one before using it. Then, in Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, find ASPSMS, confirm with Add connection and sign in on the tab that opens. Once access is granted, the connection is stored and every Zap that sends a text reuses it. Nothing else is required on the Zapier side, and a free Zapier account is enough to send your first message.
05Why does a long text arrive as several SMS?
Because one SMS holds up to 160 characters. When the Message field goes past that, the text is split into several SMS. Mapped fields make this easy to miss: a long name or address pulled from a booking can push a short template over the limit without you noticing. Keep the fixed part brief, test with the longest real values you have, and check with ASPSMS how split messages count on your account before you switch the Zap on.
06What if the ASPSMS operation you want is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier cannot do it today. ASPSMS offers a single operation, Send SMS, with no trigger and no search: there is no step to read incoming messages, check whether a text was delivered or look up a contact. The practical routes are to keep ASPSMS for sending and handle the rest in the source app, to see whether the ASPSMS page on Make covers the missing piece, or to ask ASPSMS directly whether more operations are planned.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ASPSMS?
Choose by criteria rather than by a winner. Zapier fits if all you want is to send a text when something happens elsewhere: the free plan covers a trigger plus Send SMS. If every run needs filters or several steps, price the paid Zapier plan against the alternatives. Make has its own ASPSMS page to compare operations, and n8n is worth a look if your team is comfortable with a more technical tool. The deciding factors are your monthly volume and how many steps each run needs.
