Overview

What the Blooio Zapier integration actually does

Blooio gives you a managed phone number that sends and receives blue-bubble messages and RCS, over a person-to-person channel, so no A2P registration is required. On Zapier, it reports what happens on that number and lets other apps send messages through it or check how a contact can be reached.

Three results people build with it. A reply inbox anywhere: New Event Received fires when a message comes in, and the next step drops it into a CRM, a spreadsheet or a team chat. A message sent from an event: a booking, a form or a payment in another tool runs Send Message to the customer's number. A channel check before sending: Check Contact Capabilities tells you whether a number or email handles iMessage, SMS or both, so the Zap can choose what comes next.

What it does not do matters as much. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up a past conversation or a contact stored in Blooio. And the single trigger covers every kind of event, received, sent, delivered, failed or read, so sorting them is up to you, usually with a filter.

No n8n or Make page exists yet for Blooio on this site. If you are still choosing a platform, the Make vs Zapier comparison looks at the two platforms beyond any single app.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

These words come back on every line of this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap, like a message arriving on your Blooio number. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that sends or checks something for you, like Send Message.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. The figure on your plan is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant one, like Blooio's, is pushed by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Blooio account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Blooio step of every Zap you build.
Cost

What a Blooio Zap really costs

Blooio is not a premium app on Zapier, so it runs on the free plan. Usage is counted in tasks, and a few rules catch people out.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • BilledEach successful action, never the trigger
  • Blooio trigger1, instant on every plan

The trigger never costs a task. Each action that succeeds, a Send Message or a Check Contact Capabilities, counts as one; an action that fails counts for nothing. A Zap that checks a contact and then sends a message costs two tasks per run. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, two steps each. Since the trigger fires on every kind of message event, you will usually want a filter, and a filter makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only applies to polling triggers; Blooio's trigger is instant on every plan.

Connect

Connect your Blooio account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Blooio account, plus access to any number or resource you do not own but want the Zap to use.

  2. 02

    Pick Blooio

Type Blooio in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab then opens on the Blooio side for the sign-in step.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Blooio in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection now sits in your list, ready for every Blooio trigger and action you add later.

First Zap

Your first Blooio Zap, step by step

GoalEvery message received on your Blooio number is posted to the team channel where replies are handled.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Blooio as the app that starts it and New Event Received as the event, then select your Blooio connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent events of the account, so you can work from a real message and see its fields.

  3. 03

    Keep only incoming messages

Add a Filter step on the event type, with a text rule set to message.received. This makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the destination

Add your team chat as the action app, choose the channel, and map the sender and the message text from the trigger into the post.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action, read what came back, then click Publish. Since the trigger is instant, the next message shows up in the channel right away.

Triggers

The Blooio trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Blooio, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Event Received

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new event is received (message.received, message.sent, message.delivered, message.failed, or message.read).”

Starts your Zap whenever something happens to a message on your Blooio number: one arrives, one goes out, one is delivered, fails or gets read. Each event carries its type, which is what lets later steps tell an incoming reply from a delivery receipt.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want replies routed to a CRM or a chat, or failed sends flagged to someone, without watching the inbox.
Watch out
without a filter on the event type, your Zap runs on every sent and delivered message too, and that is rarely what you meant.
Actions

The 2 Blooio actions

Blooio gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Check Contact Capabilities

Action

In Zapier“Checks if a phone number or email address supports iMessage, SMS, or both.”

Asks whether a phone number or an email address can receive iMessage, SMS or both, and hands the answer to the next steps.

When to use it
before a send, so a filter can route contacts that only take SMS to another path or another tool.
Watch out
it counts as a task like any action, so a check plus a send costs two per contact.
2

Send Message

Action

In Zapier“Sends a message to an identifier.”

Sends a message from your Blooio number to the recipient you map, a phone number or an email address. The text can be built from any earlier step of the Zap.

When to use it
a booking, an order or a form in another app should trigger a direct message to that person.
Watch out
a phone recipient must be in E.164 format, plus sign and country code included.
When it breaks

When a Blooio Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Blooio, so the cases below are the ones every Zap meets, seen from a messaging number.

The one to watch is tied to Blooio's trigger: message.sent is one of the events it reports, so a message your own Zap sends may come back as a new event. If something keeps failing, our Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the usual checks.

  • The Zap answers its own messages

New Event Received also reports message.sent. A Zap that answers with Send Message can then set itself off again and burn tasks fast; a filter that keeps only received messages rules it out.
  • Old conversations never come through

A Zap only reacts to events after you publish it. Messages already on the number are not picked up; moving that history is a separate job.
  • A burst of events gets held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch of events at once, Zapier's flood protection can hold that batch back instead of running it all.
  • Numbers outside E.164 format

Recipients and contacts to check are expected in E.164 format. Write each number with the plus sign and the country code first, never in local format.

FAQ

Blooio Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Blooio Zapier integration free?
Yes, Blooio is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Because New Event Received fires on every message event, most useful Blooio Zaps add a filter, and a filter turns the Zap into a multi-step one that needs a paid plan. The Zapier cost is then counted in tasks, like any other app.
02How many tasks does a Blooio Zap use?
One task per successful action, and nothing for the trigger. Send Message counts as one, Check Contact Capabilities counts as one, so a Zap that checks a contact then messages it costs two tasks per run. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. Watch the loop case: since the trigger also reports sent messages, a Zap that answers with Send Message and has no filter can keep running and consume tasks each time.
03Is Blooio on Zapier real time?
Yes, New Event Received is an instant trigger. Blooio tells Zapier the moment a message event happens, so the Zap starts straight away whatever your plan, and the 15-minute interval of the free plan does not apply to it. In the editor, a Zap built on this trigger shows a lightning bolt. The type is set by Blooio's own API, so there is nothing to switch on to get this behaviour.
04What does it take to connect Blooio to Zapier?
A Blooio account, plus access to anything you do not own yourself but want the Zap to use. You add the connection once from the Apps page with + Add connection, sign in to Blooio in the tab that opens, and allow access. Before your first send, make sure the numbers you map are written in E.164 format: a plus sign, the country code, then the number, never the local version.
05Can a Blooio Zap set itself off?
Yes, that is the risk to plan for. New Event Received lists message.sent among its events, alongside message.received. So when the Zap answers with Send Message, that send can come back as a new event, start the Zap again, and eat tasks on every turn. The fix is a filter right after the trigger that keeps only the message.received event type, so the Zap ignores what it sends itself. Test the Zap once after adding the filter to confirm it stays quiet on sends.
06What if the Blooio operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Blooio today. The integration has one trigger for message events and two actions: send a message, and check whether a contact supports iMessage, SMS or both. There is no search, so looking up a contact or a past conversation in Blooio is not possible from a Zap. The workaround is often to store what you need in another app as messages arrive. Before switching tools, list exactly what the Zap should do and compare.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Blooio?
It depends on your criteria rather than on a winner. On Zapier, Blooio works on the free plan and its trigger is instant, but a filter on the event type is almost always needed, and that requires a paid plan. This site has no n8n or Make page for Blooio yet, so compare what each platform offers for it directly, then weigh which tool your team already runs and who will look after the workflow.
