Overview

What the Bonjoro Zapier integration actually does

It connects Bonjoro, the tool for sending personal video messages to customers, to Zapier. What happens to your videos (sent, watched, replied to, clicked, bounced) can start an automation, and the automation can put a new video to record in your Bonjoro queue.

The headline fact first: 11 of the 13 triggers are instant. Bonjoro tells Zapier the moment a video is watched or replied to, so even on the free plan your Zap does not wait for the 15-minute check. For a tool built on timely, personal follow-up, that matters.

Three results worth setting up first. A sales nudge at the right moment: Bonjoro Call to Action Clicked fires when a viewer hits your button, and Create Task can queue a second, more pointed video, provided the click data carries the viewer's email address. Replies that never sit unread: Bonjoro Reply lets the conversation go somewhere useful the second it arrives. Delivery problems caught early: Bonjoro Bounced flags addresses your video never reached.

What it does not do: there is one action only, and it creates a task, not a video. Someone on your team still records the message in Bonjoro. There are no search steps, and nothing that edits or removes an existing Bonjoro.

The Bonjoro Make integration page covers the same app on Make, and our Zapier review gives the wider picture before you commit.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words you will meet in the editor. Read them once, and the trigger notes below get much shorter.

Zap
The automation you set up on Zapier: one event to start it, then one or more steps that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, such as a customer watching your Bonjoro video. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that creates something in an app, like a new video task in Bonjoro.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. The number on your plan counts only those.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens. Polling: Zapier checks on a timer. Bonjoro has 11 instant, 2 polling.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Bonjoro Zap really costs

Bonjoro is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. You pay in tasks, and with one action available, the maths is short.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps: one trigger, one action
  • Bonjoro on the free planYes, it is not a premium app
  • Instant triggers11 of 13, no plan interval

The trigger costs nothing, watched video or reply alike. Each Create Task that succeeds counts as one task; a failed one is not counted. On the free plan a Zap is one trigger and one action, so a plain trigger plus Create Task fits. Add a filter and it becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only applies to the two polling triggers, Workspaces and Message Templates: the 11 instant ones fire straight away on every plan.

Connect

Connect Bonjoro to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your Apps page

In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Bonjoro account linked once, then reused by every Zap that touches your Bonjoro account.

  2. 02

    Choose Bonjoro

Search for Bonjoro in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on Bonjoro so you can sign in with the account your team records from.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Bonjoro and let Zapier reach the account. If the workspaces belong to someone else, you need read or write access on the ones your Zaps should use.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a second video for every click

GoalWhen a prospect clicks the button under your video, a follow-up video task lands in your sales workspace.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Bonjoro and Bonjoro Call to Action Clicked, then your connection. It is instant: the Zap runs as soon as Bonjoro reports the click.

  2. 02

    Test with a real click

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent clicks on your account. Read what came back: Create Task needs an email address, and this Zap only works if the click data carries one.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a Filter that lets the Zap go on only when an email address arrived with the click, so Create Task never runs without its required field. This step makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Create Task

Add Create Task, map the email address you found in the trigger's test data and pick your sales workspace. Both fields are required.

  5. 05

    Test, then Publish

Test the action and check the new task in Bonjoro. Then click Publish. Each click that passes the filter costs one task; someone still records the video.

Triggers

The 13 Bonjoro triggers

13 events start a Zap when something happens in Bonjoro, and 11 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Bonjoro Reassigned

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an existing Bonjoro is assigned to a different team member.”

Fires when an existing Bonjoro moves from one team member to another. Useful when the person who should record a video changes and others need to know.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a customer success lead reassigns videos during holidays and wants the new owner told outside Bonjoro too.
Watch out
it only covers reassignments made after you publish the Zap.
2

Bonjoro Bounced

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro email bounces. Note that if you're using a custom mail integration such as Google, bounces may not be detected.”

Runs when the email carrying a Bonjoro bounces, meaning your video never reached the inbox. That can be a sign an address in your customer list is wrong.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your onboarding team wants bad addresses flagged before the next welcome video goes out to the same customer.
Watch out
if Bonjoro sends through your own mail account, such as Google, bounces may go undetected.
3

Bonjoro Call to Action Clicked

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user clicks the Bonjoro call to action.”

Starts your Zap when a viewer clicks the call-to-action button under your video. Of all the signals Bonjoro sends, this is the one closest to a buying intent.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a SaaS sales rep wants a pointed follow-up video queued for anyone who clicked "Book a demo".
Watch out
Create Task needs an email address, so check in the trigger test that the click data carries one before you build on it.
4

Bonjoro Sent

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is sent by a team member.”

Reacts when a team member sends a Bonjoro. It closes the loop on a task: the video is recorded and out the door.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a manager wants a running record of who sent which welcome video, kept outside Bonjoro for the team review.
Watch out
pairing it with Create Task costs one task for every video your team sends.
5

Bonjoro Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is created by a team member or automation.”

Fires whenever a Bonjoro appears, whether a team member made it or an automation did. It marks the start of a video's life, before anyone has recorded it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a team lead wants a heads-up each time new videos are waiting to be recorded.
Watch out
Create Task creates a Bonjoro task and this trigger also fires on what an automation creates, so chaining the two risks a Zap that sets itself off again and again.
6

Bonjoro Dismissed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is dismissed by a team member.”

Runs when a team member dismisses a Bonjoro instead of sending it. A dismissed video is a customer who will not get a personal message, and this trigger makes that visible.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
an account manager wants to know when a key client's welcome video was skipped, so another channel can cover it.
7

Bonjoro Email Opened

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro email is opened.”

Fires when the email carrying your Bonjoro is opened. The customer has seen your message in their inbox, even if they have not pressed play yet.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a coach wants to call a new client while the welcome email is fresh in their mind.
Watch out
an open is not a view; for proof the video was played, use Bonjoro Watched.
8

Bonjoro Reaction

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user reacts to a Bonjoro.”

Starts when a viewer reacts to your Bonjoro. A reaction is a light, quick sign that the video landed well.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a marketing team collects the customers who reacted, to invite them later to leave a review.
Watch out
reactions from before the Zap was published are never picked up.
9

Bonjoro Reply

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is replied to.”

Fires when someone replies to a Bonjoro. A reply is a conversation starting, and it deserves faster handling than a message sitting in one more inbox.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a support team routes every customer reply to whoever is on duty that day.
Watch out
each reply that leads to Create Task costs a task, so a chatty customer adds up.
10

Bonjoro Shared

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is shared on social media.”

Kicks in when a viewer shares your Bonjoro on social media. That is free word of mouth, and worth knowing about while it is happening.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a community manager wants to thank customers who shared a welcome video, before the post goes cold.
Watch out
shares that happened before you switch the Zap on stay out of reach.
11

Bonjoro Watched

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Bonjoro is watched.”

Fires when your Bonjoro is watched. This is the signal that the personal effort paid off: the customer actually pressed play.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a founder sending thank-you videos to new subscribers wants to see which ones were actually viewed.
Watch out
if this Zap creates a task for each view, every play of a popular video costs one task.
12

Workspaces

Polling trigger

In Zapier“List of available Workspaces”

Zapier describes it only as the list of available workspaces. As a polling trigger, it keeps only the items it has not seen before, so a workspace that appears in that list starts the Zap.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
an agency running one workspace per client wants each new workspace recorded in its account list.
Watch out
unlike the eleven video triggers, this one waits for the plan interval.
13

Message Templates

Polling trigger

In Zapier“List of available Message Templates”

Its official description is just a list of available message templates. Being polled, it hands the Zap only the templates Zapier has not met yet, one run each.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
a team lead wants everyone told when a fresh template is ready to use for the next round of videos.
Watch out
templates that existed before you publish the Zap are never picked up.
Actions

The Bonjoro action

Bonjoro gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Task

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Bonjoro Task. To complete it, record a video message using the Bonjoro platform.”

Puts a new Bonjoro task in a workspace: a person to record a video for. The video itself still has to be recorded in Bonjoro. The email address and the workspace are required.

When to use it
each new customer from your checkout or CRM should appear in your team's queue as a welcome video to record.
Watch out
one task per successful run, so a busy trigger fills both the queue and your plan.
When it breaks

When a Bonjoro Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Bonjoro, so these cases come from the trigger notes above and Zapier's general limits.

Bonjoro's instant triggers react fast, which also means a mistake spreads fast. Check these four cases before you publish. If a Zap still misbehaves, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next step.

  • Bonjoro Created plus Create Task loops

Bonjoro Created also fires for Bonjoros made by an automation, and Create Task creates one. Chained, they make a Zap that writes where its own trigger watches and can set itself off again and again.
  • Bounces you never hear about

When Bonjoro sends through your own mail account, such as Google, bounces may not be detected, so Bonjoro Bounced stays silent while videos go nowhere.
  • Past videos are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Videos watched or replied to before that stay out; handling them is a separate job.
  • A sudden batch gets held back

If a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import for example, Zapier's flood protection may hold it back rather than run every item.

FAQ

Bonjoro and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Bonjoro Zapier integration free?
Yes, for simple Zaps. Bonjoro is not a premium app, so it runs on Zapier's free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. A free Zap is one trigger and one action, which fits the classic Bonjoro pattern: an event, then Create Task. As soon as you add a filter, for example to skip runs that carry no email address, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Bonjoro Zap use?
One per successful Create Task, nothing else. Triggers are free, whether they report a watch, a reply or a click, and so are Zapier's checks on the two polling triggers. A Zap that queues a follow-up video for each click costs one task per click. If Create Task fails, for example with no workspace picked, it is not counted. A popular video can generate many clicks, so watch your monthly count.
03Does Bonjoro trigger Zaps in real time?
Mostly, yes. 11 of the 13 Bonjoro triggers are instant: Bonjoro tells Zapier as soon as a video is sent, watched, replied to, clicked or bounced, and the plan interval does not apply. The two exceptions are Workspaces and Message Templates, which poll: every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional, and every minute on Team and Enterprise. In the editor, instant Zaps show a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect Bonjoro to Zapier?
A Bonjoro account, plus read or write access to any workspace you do not own and want a Zap to use. You add it from the Apps page in Zapier with + Add connection, sign in to Bonjoro in the tab that opens and grant access. Before building Create Task, make sure the connected account can see the workspace you want, because the action requires one along with the email address.
05Why does a Bonjoro Zap fill the video queue on its own?
The likeliest cause is a Zap that starts on Bonjoro Created and runs Create Task. Bonjoro Created fires for every new Bonjoro, including those made by an automation, and Create Task creates a Bonjoro task: the Zap writes where its own trigger watches, so it can set itself off again and again, filling the queue and draining your task count. Start your Create Task Zaps from a different event, such as a click or a reply, instead. Check this before you publish.
06What if the Bonjoro operation you need does not exist?
Then the integration cannot do it as it stands. On Zapier, Bonjoro has a single action, Create Task, no search step and nothing that edits, sends or removes an existing Bonjoro. The video is always recorded by a person in Bonjoro. Sometimes a workaround exists by combining a trigger with another app's action; otherwise the job needs a manual step or another tool, and it is better to know that before you design around it.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Bonjoro?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Bonjoro brings 13 triggers, 11 of them instant, and one action, with a free plan that covers a trigger plus Create Task. If your flows need many steps or lookups around each video, compare what each tool offers for Bonjoro on those exact points, along with the cost per run and the time someone will spend maintaining the setup.
