Overview

What the Boomerangme Zapier integration actually does

It links your Boomerangme loyalty account to Zapier, the tool that runs automations between apps. Something happens on a card, a customer or a template, and Zapier reacts. Or another step tells Boomerangme to issue a card, credit points or push a message, with nobody clicking through the dashboard.

Three outcomes cover what most shop owners and agencies come here for. First, a card in every new customer's pocket: New Customer starts the Zap, Issue Card hands out the card on the template you choose. Second, rewards that follow real behavior: Card Scanned or New Referral fires, then Card Add Point, Card Add Stamp or Card Add Reward credits the right card. Third, an agency back office that runs itself: New Subaccount and Create Company let a reseller follow and open client accounts without copying details by hand.

Now the limits, because the editor won't spell them out. There is no delete operation at all: no deleting a customer, a card or a company from a Zap. Templates only exist as triggers, so a Zap can react to a template being created, switched on, switched off or deleted, but it cannot build one. And a Zap never looks back: events from before you switched it on are simply ignored.

If you are weighing tools, the Boomerangme Make integration covers the same app on Make, and our n8n vs Zapier comparison lays out the criteria side by side.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will meet in the editor, in plain English. Each one is used as-is in the rest of the page.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier sits and waits for it to happen.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or changes something in an app on your behalf.
Task
The unit Zapier bills you on: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is a count of these.
Instant vs polling trigger
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event occurs. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer set by your plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, like a customer or a card, so later steps can reuse what it found.
Connection
Your Boomerangme account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that talks to Boomerangme.
Cost

What a Boomerangme Zap really costs

Boomerangme is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The bill is counted in tasks, and only actions count.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
  • BilledEach successful action; the trigger is free
  • Boomerangme triggers14 of 14 instant, no polling delay

The trigger costs nothing, however many scans or new customers come in. Each action that succeeds is one task, so a Zap with three actions uses three times more than a Zap with one. An action that fails is not billed. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, a search or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only matters for polling triggers, and Boomerangme has none.

Connect

Connect your Boomerangme account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Boomerangme account first, and access to anything you plan to touch that you do not own yourself.

  2. 02

    Find Boomerangme

In the dialog that appears, type Boomerangme in the search box and pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Boomerangme side to sign in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Boomerangme in that tab and allow Zapier to access the account. From then on, every Zap step that uses Boomerangme reuses this same connection, so you only do this once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: welcome points on the new customer's card

GoalEach new customer gets bonus points on the card of a given template, without anyone at the counter doing it.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Start a new Zap, choose Boomerangme as the app and New Customer as the event, then select your connection. This Zap has three steps, so it needs a paid plan.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent customers of the account, so you map the next steps on a real one rather than a blank.

  3. 03

    Add the search

Add Find Card and tick Create X if it doesn't exist yet? to get Find or Issue Card, since a new customer usually has no card yet. Set your Template Id, and map the customer's uuid from the test sample into Customer Id.

  4. 04

    Add the action

Add Card Add Point. Map the Card Id found by the search, then type the number of welcome points you want to give in Points.

  5. 05

    Test, then Publish

Test each step and read what came back before moving on. When the points land on the right card, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Triggers

Boomerangme triggers on Zapier

14 events start a Zap when something happens in Boomerangme, and 14 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Card Balance Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when card balance is updated.”

Fires each time the balance on one of your loyalty cards is updated. One update, one run of the Zap, so a busy counter means a busy Zap.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a coffee shop that logs every balance movement in its own reporting tool to spot regulars drifting away.
Watch out
if the same Zap then adds or subtracts anything on the card, it updates the balance again and sets itself off in a loop.
2

Card Expired

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when card is expired.”

Runs when a customer's card reaches its expiry in Boomerangme. That is your cue to win the customer back before they forget the shop.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a gym re-issuing a fresh card with Issue Card so the member keeps collecting without asking.
Watch out
only cards that expire after the Zap is published count; the ones that expired last month will never come through.
3

Card Installed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when card is installed on device.”

Starts when a customer actually installs the card on their phone, not just when the card is issued. That gap matters: issued means offered, installed means kept.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a bakery rewarding the install itself with Card Add Reward, so a card offered becomes a card kept.
Watch out
customers who installed before the Zap went live get nothing; plan a one-off gesture for them separately.
4

Card Issued

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when card is issued.”

Fires as soon as Boomerangme issues a card to a customer. It tracks the start of every card's life.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a retail chain sending each new card holder into its email welcome sequence the same day.
Watch out
a Zap built on this trigger that itself runs Issue Card issues a card, which fires the trigger again. Never make this Zap issue cards itself.
5

Card Scanned

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when card is scanned.”

Runs every time a card is scanned at your counter. It is the closest thing to a live feed of who walks through the door.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a barber counting visits per customer in a spreadsheet to plan staff on the busiest days.
Watch out
each scan is one run; if your Zap has two actions, each scan costs two tasks, which adds up fast on 100 a month.
6

Template Is Activated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a template is activated.”

Fires when a card template is switched on in Boomerangme. Useful as a launch signal for a new loyalty program or a seasonal card.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a franchise head office telling every store manager that the summer card is live and ready to promote.
Watch out
only templates switched on after the Zap is published come through; a program launched last week will not.
7

Template Is Deactivated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a template is deactivated.”

Switching a template off is what this one catches. A program going quiet is something someone usually needs to know about.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
an agency managing several shops that wants a ticket opened every time a client pauses a card by mistake.
Watch out
a switch made before publishing will not show up; check templates already off by hand once.
8

Template Is Deleted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a template is deleted.”

A template removed from the account sets this off. Since no Zap can rebuild a template, this one is mostly about keeping a trace.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a reseller logging every deletion across client accounts, so a support call later starts with facts.
Watch out
any Zap that uses this template's Template Id in Issue Card or Send Push now points to a template that is gone; review those Zaps right after.
9

New Template

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new template is created.”

Creating a brand new card template in Boomerangme kicks this off. It catches the program at birth, before any customer holds the card.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a marketing team that wants the design brief for in-store posters opened as soon as a new card exists.
Watch out
created does not mean active; pair it with Template Is Activated if your process waits for the go-live.
10

New Customer

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new customer is created.”

Fires whenever a customer is added to your Boomerangme account. It is the natural starting point for any welcome flow.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a nail salon pushing every new loyalty member into its CRM so the front desk sees them on the next booking.
Watch out
a bulk import of customers creates a wave of runs at once, and Zapier's flood protection may hold part of it back.
11

New Feedback

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new feedback sent.”

Every piece of feedback a customer sends through Boomerangme lands here. That is a voice you want in front of a person quickly, good or bad.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a restaurant owner who wants each review in the team chat during the shift, not a week later.
Watch out
sorting good from bad feedback takes a filter, and a filter makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.
12

New Manager

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new manager created.”

Adding a manager to the account starts this Zap. It is a people event, not a customer event, which makes it handy for access control.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a multi-store owner keeping a staff access log updated each time someone gets a manager seat.
Watch out
no action removes a manager from Zapier, so the offboarding side stays a manual job in Boomerangme.
13

New Referral

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new customer registered by ref link.”

Sign-ups made through a referral link are what this trigger watches. It turns word of mouth into a trackable event.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a car wash that thanks referrers with extra points via Find Card and Card Add Point.
Watch out
sign-ups made without the link never fire it; a customer who mentions a friend at the till does not count as a referral here.
14

New Subaccount

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new subaccount is signed up.”

On the reseller side of Boomerangme, each new subaccount sign-up sets it off. Each subaccount is usually one of your agency's clients.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
an agency opening a client file and an onboarding checklist the minute a shop signs up under its brand.
Watch out
only sign-ups made after the Zap is published come through; clients who joined before need a one-off manual pass.
Actions

Boomerangme actions on Zapier

Boomerangme gives you 20 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Amount to Card

Action

In Zapier“Add amount to card”

Credits an amount on a card. Card Id and Amount are required, nothing else.

When to use it
a shop loading store credit on a card after a return processed in its till.
Watch out
if a Zap built on Card Balance Updated runs this, the card update restarts the same Zap.
2

Card Add Point

Action

In Zapier“Add point to card”

Puts points on a card. You set the Card Id and how many Points to add.

When to use it
rewarding a customer for leaving a review elsewhere, once that review shows up in another app.
Watch out
the Card Id rarely comes from the trigger; a Find Card step is usually the way to get it.
3

Card Add Reward

Action

In Zapier“Add reward to card”

Adds rewards to a card directly, skipping the count of stamps or points. Card Id and Rewards are required.

When to use it
giving a free drink to every customer who installs the card, through Card Installed.
Watch out
customers who installed before the Zap was published get nothing, since a Zap never looks back.
4

Card Add Scores

Action

In Zapier“Add scores to card”

Adds scores to a card. Fill in the Card Id and the Scores to add.

When to use it
a climbing gym scoring members for each class attended, logged in its booking tool.
Watch out
if you filter on a number before this step, use a number rule; a text rule on a number never passes.
5

Card Add Stamp

Action

In Zapier“Add stamp to card”

Stamps a stamp card, the digital version of the paper loyalty card. Card Id and Stamps are required.

When to use it
crediting a stamp when an online order is paid, so web buyers collect like walk-ins.
Watch out
map the Card Id from a Find Card step; a hand-typed one is the fastest way to stamp the wrong card or none.
6

Card Add Visit

Action

In Zapier“Add visit to card”

Records visits on a card from outside Boomerangme. Card Id and Visits are required.

When to use it
counting a visit when a client checks in through a booking app instead of showing the card.
Watch out
each visit logged is one task, so a busy booking app eats into 100 tasks a month quickly.
7

Card Receive Reward

Action

In Zapier“Receive reward from card”

Marks a reward as received from a card, the customer cashing in what they earned. Only the Card Id is required.

When to use it
closing the loop when the reward is delivered elsewhere, such as an online shop applying the gift at checkout.
Watch out
run it from the event that confirms the gift was delivered, not from the order itself.
8

Card Redeem Coupon

Action

In Zapier“Card Redeem coupon”

Redeems the coupon held on a card. The Card Id is the single required field.

When to use it
an online store that burns the loyalty coupon as soon as the discounted order is confirmed.
Watch out
test it on your own card first, because a live test acts on a real card.
9

Card Subtract Amount

Action

In Zapier“Subtract amount from card”

Takes an amount off a card's balance. Card Id and Amount are both required.

When to use it
spending store credit when a purchase is paid partly with it in your till system.
Watch out
this changes the balance, so it fires Card Balance Updated on any Zap watching it.
10

Card Subtract Point

Action

In Zapier“Subtract point from card”

Removes points from a card. Set the Card Id and the Points to take away.

When to use it
cancelling points that came from an order the customer later refunded.
Watch out
reversing an earlier credit needs the same Card Id; store it when you add the points.
11

Card Subtract Reward

Action

In Zapier“Subtract reward from card”

Withdraws rewards from a card, the opposite of Card Add Reward. Card Id and Rewards are required.

When to use it
pulling back a reward granted by mistake by another Zap, without opening the dashboard.
Watch out
this is a correction, not a redemption; use Card Receive Reward when the customer claims it.
12

Card Subtract Scores

Action

In Zapier“Subtract scores from card”

Takes scores off a card. Fill in the Card Id and the Scores to remove.

When to use it
taking off the score of a class the member booked and then missed.
Watch out
if you filter on the score before this step, use a number rule; a text rule on a number never passes.
13

Card Subtract Stamp

Action

In Zapier“Subtract stamp from card”

Removes stamps from a stamp card. Card Id and Stamps are required.

When to use it
undoing a stamp tied to an online order that was cancelled after payment.
Watch out
run it from the cancellation event, not from a timer, so the right card loses the right stamp.
14

Card Subtract Visit

Action

In Zapier“Subtract visit from card”

Removes visits from a card. You need the Card Id and the number of Visits.

When to use it
cancelling the visit of a booking the client called off afterwards.
Watch out
it is one more task each time, so a correction Zap that fires often eats your allowance.
15

Create Company

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Company (Sub-account)”

Opens a company, meaning a subaccount, under your reseller account. It asks for a lot: company and user names, phone, password, country, Tariff Id and Tariff Period.

When to use it
an agency that sells loyalty as a service and wants each signed deal to open the client space.
Watch out
Country takes an ISO 3166-1 Alpha-2 code like FR or ES, not a full country name.
16

Create Customer

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Customer”

Adds a customer to your Boomerangme account from whatever app holds the contact first. Only First Name and Phone are required.

When to use it
a yoga studio turning each trial-class booking into a loyalty customer before the first session.
Watch out
the phone is what Find Customer by Phone matches on later, so keep one consistent format.
17

Edit Company

Action

In Zapier“Edit Company (Sub-account)”

Changes the details of a company subaccount you already manage. Company Id is the one field you must fill in.

When to use it
an agency whose client updates its business details in a form, and wants Boomerangme to follow.
Watch out
keep the Company Id stored when you create the subaccount, because no search finds companies.
18

Edit Customer

Action

In Zapier“Edit Customer data”

Updates an existing customer's data. The only required field is the Customer Id, in uuid format such as 0187bce0-19a5-7177-9201-c8bc63649f7e.

When to use it
keeping names and details in sync when a customer corrects them in your booking tool.
Watch out
start with Find Customer by Phone to get the Customer Id rather than storing it somewhere else.
19

Issue Card

Action

In Zapier“Issues a Card”

Gives a customer a card based on one of your templates. You need the Template Id and the Customer Id, which is a long uuid.

When to use it
handing every new customer the default stamp card without staff remembering to do it.
Watch out
map the Customer Id from a previous step; a Customer Id typed by hand is an easy way to break the step.
20

Send Push

Action

In Zapier“Send Push to Customers by Template”

Sends a push message to the customers holding cards of a template. Template Id and Message are required.

When to use it
announcing a flash offer to every holder of the lunch card when stock runs high.
Watch out
it goes to the template's holders, not to one person; never wire it to a per-customer trigger.
Searches

Boomerangme searches on Zapier

2 search steps look for data that already exists in Boomerangme, so a later step can use it.

Searches sit at the bottom of the action event list in the editor, under SEARCH. They find a card or a customer that already exists, so the next action gets the Id it requires. Each search can also behave in three ways when the result is not what you expect.

1

Find Card

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Find card by Customer & Template”

Finds the card a customer holds on a given template. It needs both the Template Id and the Customer Id in uuid form.

When to use it
just before any card action, to get the Card Id that every add or subtract step requires.
Watch out
the editor also lists Find or Issue Card; it is this same search with creation ticked, issuing the card when none exists.
2

Find Customer by Phone

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Finds a Customer”

Looks up a customer from a phone number, the only field it asks for. It hands back the customer so later steps get the Customer Id.

When to use it
matching a buyer from your till or booking app, where the phone is often the one shared detail.
Watch out
Find or Create Customer is the same search with creation on, not an extra operation.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there. Switched on, the Zap carries on, but with nothing to map.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking it turns the search into a find-or-create: the setting above disappears and the step asks for what is needed to create the missing item.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out: keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass every match on at once.
When it breaks

When a Boomerangme Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Boomerangme, and no rate limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks is the general Zapier behavior, and with a loyalty app it hits quickly.

Four cases are worth knowing before you publish. When one of them hits, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to start.

  • The Zap feeds itself

A Zap on Card Balance Updated that adds points or amounts changes the balance again, fires again, and burns through 100 tasks a month in no time.
  • Nothing from before is picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is on. Customers, scans and referrals from last month never come through; moving them is a separate job.
  • A bulk import gets held back

Importing a big customer list fires New Customer for each row at once. Zapier's flood protection can hold that batch back instead of running it.
  • Ids typed by hand

Customer Id and Template Id are long uuids. Mapped from a trigger or a search they work; typed or pasted wrong, the action fails every time.

FAQ

Boomerangme and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Boomerangme Zapier integration free?
Yes, Boomerangme is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, but each Zap is limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. As soon as you add a search to find a card, a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. On the Boomerangme side you still need an account of your own.
02How many tasks does a Boomerangme Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, nothing for the trigger. A Zap that issues a card for each new customer costs one task per customer. A Zap with three actions costs three per run. A failed action is not billed. The catch with a loyalty program is volume: if you trigger on every card scan, every scan is a run, and a busy counter can empty 100 tasks well before the month ends.
03Are Boomerangme triggers real time?
Yes, all 14 of them are instant. Boomerangme tells Zapier the moment a card is scanned, a customer is created or a template changes, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The polling intervals of the plan grid, 15 minutes on Free down to 1 minute on Team and Enterprise, do not apply here. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What do you need to connect Boomerangme to Zapier?
A Boomerangme account, plus access to anything you want the Zap to touch that you do not own yourself. In Zapier you open Apps, click + Add connection, pick Boomerangme, sign in to it in the tab that opens and grant access. For several actions, prepare at least one card template too: Issue Card and Send Push both require a Template Id. The same goes for card actions, which all need a Card Id, so plan a Find Card search ahead of them.
05Where does the Card Id that card actions ask for come from?
From a Find Card search placed before the action. Every add and subtract action requires a Card Id, and the trigger that started your Zap may not carry it. Find Card takes a Template Id and a Customer Id and returns the matching card. Keep in mind that adding a search makes the Zap multi-step, so this setup needs a paid plan. On the free plan, stick to actions that do not need a Card Id, such as Create Customer or Issue Card.
06What if the Boomerangme operation needed is not in Zapier?
Then Zapier cannot do it directly: the editor only offers what Boomerangme publishes, which is 14 triggers, 20 actions and 2 searches. There is no delete operation and no way to create a template from a Zap, for example. Sometimes chaining a search and an action gets you close. Otherwise, check whether the same app on Make or n8n covers the missing step, and compare the full operation lists before you move a whole loyalty program across.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Boomerangme?
It depends on your criteria rather than on a winner. Zapier suits you if you want instant triggers and a guided editor, and if two-step Zaps cover your needs on the free plan. On Boomerangme the criteria that count are the operations: here 14 triggers, all instant, 20 actions and 2 searches. Compare the operations available for Boomerangme on each before choosing, and if a step you need is missing here, check whether the other tool lists it.
