Overview

What the ClearBounce Zapier integration actually does

It plugs ClearBounce, an email verification service, into Zapier so an address gets checked without anyone pasting it by hand. Zapier is the tool that links your apps; ClearBounce only brings the check itself. Something else has to start the run, and ClearBounce answers with a deliverability verdict.

Three results you can get from that single step. A clean signup list: every address typed into a form goes through Verify Email before it lands in your CRM. A sorted lead file: the status and the risk score that come back let you send risky contacts to a review sheet instead of your campaign. A safer sender reputation: fewer bounces on your next newsletter, because the dead addresses never got in.

Now the part the app page skips. ClearBounce has no trigger on Zapier, so it can never start anything on its own. Nothing happens when a check finishes inside ClearBounce; the Zap always begins in another app (a form, a spreadsheet, a CRM). There is no search either, so you cannot look up a past result. And there is only one action: one address per run, never a whole list in a single step.

One more limit worth knowing early. The useful part is usually the sorting after the check, and sorting means a filter, which pushes the Zap onto a paid plan. If you are still choosing a platform, the ClearBounce Make integration page covers the same app on Make, and the Make vs Zapier comparison lays out the general differences.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Six terms come back all over this page. Here they are in plain words, once.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run each time that event shows up.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts a Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier sits and waits for it to happen.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or checks something for you, like Verify Email.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action that finished successfully; your plan is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed by the app itself, the moment the event occurs.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived matches a rule you set, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger plus one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a ClearBounce check costs you on Zapier

ClearBounce is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan.

  • Verify Email1 task per successful check
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each successful Verify Email run counts as one task. A check that fails is not counted, and the trigger from your form never costs anything, however often Zapier looks at it. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only: trigger plus Verify Email, nothing after. The moment you add a filter to keep only valid addresses, or a second action to store the result, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan, where each extra action that succeeds counts again.

Connect

Connect your ClearBounce account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the connections list

In Zapier, go to Apps, then click + Add connection. You need a ClearBounce account first; a connection is that account linked to Zapier once and reused by every Zap that touches it.

  2. 02

    Pick ClearBounce

Type ClearBounce in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a new tab where ClearBounce asks you to identify yourself.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to ClearBounce in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. Back in Zapier, the connection shows up in the list, ready to be picked in the Verify Email step of any Zap.

First Zap

Your first Zap: check signups and keep the good ones

GoalEvery new Typeform entry gets its address verified, and only the ones that pass the filter reach your contact sheet.

  1. 01

    Pick the starting event

Create a Zap, pick Typeform as the starting app and New Entry as its event. Test it: Zapier pulls back the three most recent entries, so you map fields from a real one.

  2. 02

    Add Verify Email

Add an action, pick ClearBounce and Verify Email. Map the email answer of your Typeform into Email Address. That box is required, so do not leave it empty.

  3. 03

    Test the check

Run the step once. Read what ClearBounce returns, especially the status and the risk score. Note the exact status value a good address gets: the filter will use it.

  4. 04

    Filter on the status

Add a Filter step from the plus icon. Pick the status field, a text rule, and the value you just noted. Only matching contacts go past this point.

  5. 05

    Store the keepers

Add the last action: Google Sheets and Create Spreadsheet Row, with the name, the address and the status. Test it so a real row appears in your contact sheet.

  6. 06

    Publish

Click Publish. From now on each new entry is checked. Remember this four-step Zap needs a paid plan because of the filter.

Actions

The ClearBounce action on Zapier

ClearBounce gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Verify Email

Action

In Zapier“Verify a single email address and get detailed deliverability results including status, risk score, and validation checks.”

Hand ClearBounce one address and get back a verdict on whether mail sent to it is likely to arrive, with a status, a risk score and the checks behind them.

When to use it
right after a signup form or a lead import, before the contact reaches your CRM or your next campaign.
Watch out
one run checks one address, so a list of five hundred contacts means five hundred tasks.
When it breaks

Where a ClearBounce Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to ClearBounce, so the traps below are the general ones, applied to a verification Zap.

Most problems do not come from ClearBounce itself but from the trigger app in front of it and the steps behind it. When a run goes wrong, the Zapier troubleshooting guide is the place to start.

  • Old contacts stay unchecked

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. The addresses already sitting in your list are never sent to Verify Email; cleaning that backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap keeps setting itself off

If the last step writes new rows into the very sheet your trigger watches, each row starts the Zap again, and every loop burns another check.
  • A bulk import gets held back

Pasting thousands of rows into the source at once can trip Zapier's flood protection, which holds that batch instead of firing a check for each line.
  • No address, no check

Email Address is required. Records where the form field was left blank make the step fail, and those runs never reach your filter or your sheet.

FAQ

ClearBounce Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the ClearBounce Zapier integration free?
Yes, at the start. ClearBounce is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month. The catch is the two-step limit: on the free plan, a Zap is one trigger and one action. That leaves room for exactly one setup, your source app plus Verify Email. As soon as you want to sort the result with a filter, or save it somewhere with a second action, the Zap turns multi-step and Zapier asks for a paid plan. Your ClearBounce account itself is a separate matter, handled on the ClearBounce side.
02How many tasks does a ClearBounce check use?
One task per address checked successfully. Verify Email is a single action, so every run that goes through is counted once. The trigger that starts the Zap is free, and so is the time Zapier spends looking for new items in your source app. A run that fails is not counted against your plan. The bill grows with the steps you add: in a Zap with a check and a second action, each successful action counts on its own, so a run that reaches the end costs two tasks. A filter that stops a run means the actions after it never execute, so they cost nothing.
03Does ClearBounce on Zapier check addresses in real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because ClearBounce has no trigger of its own. Verify Email runs as soon as the Zap reaches it. How fast the Zap starts is decided by the trigger in front. If that trigger is instant, the source app warns Zapier the moment a submission arrives, whatever your plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. Pick a source with an instant trigger when speed matters; the editor marks those with a lightning bolt.
04What do you need to connect ClearBounce to Zapier?
A ClearBounce account, and a Zapier account to link it to. The connection takes three moves: open Apps in Zapier, click + Add connection, find ClearBounce and confirm with Add connection. A tab opens where you sign in to ClearBounce and let Zapier use the account. After that, every Zap reuses the same connection, so you do it once. On the data side, you also need a source app that holds an email address for each record, because Verify Email refuses to run without one.
05Can ClearBounce check a whole list at once through Zapier?
No. Verify Email takes one address per run. Each record that reaches the step is checked separately, and each successful check is a task. A list of a thousand contacts means a thousand runs and a thousand tasks, which empties a free plan of 100 tasks fast. There is also a timing issue: a Zap ignores everything that existed before it was switched on, so contacts already in your file never go through the check on their own. And a huge batch pushed in at once can be held back by Zapier's flood protection. Plan the backlog as a separate job.
06What if the ClearBounce operation you want is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier cannot do it for this app today. The only operation on offer is Verify Email: no trigger, so ClearBounce never starts a Zap, and no search, so you cannot fetch a past result. If the need is to react when something changes inside ClearBounce, or to pull stored results, this integration will not cover it. Check the ClearBounce page on Zapier from time to time for new operations, and look at the ClearBounce page on other platforms before building a workaround.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ClearBounce?
Decide on criteria, not on a winner. On Zapier, ask three things. Does one check per address, started by another app, cover the job? Do you need to sort results, which means a filter and a paid plan? Will your volume fit in tasks, at one task per successful check? If all three fit, Zapier is enough. If you need ClearBounce to start a flow itself, Zapier offers no trigger for it. For Make and n8n, compare what their ClearBounce pages list against those same three questions before choosing.
