Overview

What the DeutschlandGPT Zapier integration does for you

DeutschlandGPT presents itself as an AI platform where several language models can be used in line with GDPR, without the risk of losing data. Through Zapier, it reports new models, lists the available ones, answers chat messages, reads images and generates pictures, all inside a Zap.

Every new model tested the same way. The Fetch Models trigger fires when a model is added, and Sends a Chat Message With System Prompt puts it through the same instructions each time, so you can compare answers.

Answers written to your rules. Sends a Chat Message With System Prompt fixes the tone and the limits once in the system prompt, while Sends a Chat Message handles plain questions.

Images read and images made. Sends a Chat Message With an Image asks a model about a picture given by its link, and Generates an Image turns a prompt into a picture.

What Zapier does not do here: the only trigger watches for new models, so nothing starts a Zap on a conversation or a reply, there is no search, and every action needs a Model you pick. Where the reply goes next is up to the steps you add after it.

Comparing platforms? The DeutschlandGPT Make integration is the same app on Make. To hand the build over, there is our Zapier agency.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven or eight words carry the whole page. Read them once and the rest of the page reads like plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger that starts it, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that sets the Zap off. Once the Zap is published, Zapier sits and waits for that event to come up.
Action
The step that does the work after the start: it creates, sends or writes something in an app on your behalf.
Task
Zapier's billing unit. One task is one action that completed successfully, and your plan is sized as a count of those.
Polling vs instant
Polling: Zapier asks the app for new items on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier itself the moment something happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming item meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your DeutschlandGPT account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that works with DeutschlandGPT.
Cost

What a DeutschlandGPT Zap really costs

Short version: the trigger is free, every successful action is billed, and the free plan stops at two steps.

  • Triggernever billed
  • Successful action1 task each
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appno

Zapier counts in tasks. Looking for new data never costs anything, and an action that fails is not billed. Each action that succeeds counts on its own, so a Zap with three actions uses three tasks per run. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of exactly two steps. Add a second action, a filter or a search step and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. DeutschlandGPT is not a premium app: it works from the free plan. The plan also sets how often a polling trigger checks for new items, and that check is free.

Connect

Connect DeutschlandGPT to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and start a connection

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. Type DeutschlandGPT in the search box of the dialog and pick it from the list of results.

  2. 02

    Sign in to DeutschlandGPT

Click Add connection. A new tab opens on the DeutschlandGPT side: log in with the account the Zap should work with. You need an account there, plus read or write access to anything you do not own yourself.

  3. 03

    Grant access, once

Approve the access Zapier asks for. That connection is now reusable: every DeutschlandGPT step in every Zap picks it up, so you link the account once rather than once per Zap.

First Zap

Your first DeutschlandGPT Zap: a test prompt for each new model

GoalEach new model receives your house test prompt, with the same system prompt every time, and the answer lands in your inbox.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

In the Build phase, choose DeutschlandGPT as the trigger app and the Fetch Models trigger as the event, then select the connection you made earlier.

  2. 02

    Test on real models

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent models of your account, so you map the next steps on a real model rather than a blank field.

  3. 03

    Set up the chat action

Add Sends a Chat Message With System Prompt. Map the new model into Model, then write your test question and the System Prompt. All three fields are required.

  4. 04

    Send the answer to yourself

Add an email step and map the model name and its answer into it, so the result is read somewhere. A second action makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then Publish

Use Test on each step and read the reply. Then click Publish: from now on, Zapier looks for new models on your plan's schedule.

Triggers

The DeutschlandGPT trigger: what starts a Zap

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in DeutschlandGPT. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

Fetch Models

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new model is added.”

When a new model is added to DeutschlandGPT, this trigger hands it to Zapier, so the rest of the Zap can put it to work or tell your team.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
an AI lead at a law firm who wants every new model run through the same test prompt before anyone uses it on client work.
Watch out
an action carries the same name. Pick it from the trigger events, and remember models already there when you publish are never picked up.
Actions

DeutschlandGPT actions: what the Zap can do

DeutschlandGPT gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Fetch Models

Action

In Zapier“Fetches all available models.”

Lists every model available on your DeutschlandGPT account in the middle of a Zap, for the steps that follow.

When to use it
checking which models exist before a chat or image step relies on one.
Watch out
this is the action, not the trigger with the same name, and it does not start a Zap on its own.
2

Generates an Image

Action

In Zapier“Generates an Image based on a prompt.”

Turns a written prompt into a picture, using the model you pick.

When to use it
a first visual for a blog post or a product sheet, drafted before a designer takes over.
Watch out
Model and Prompt are both required. A vague prompt gives a vague picture, so test it before publishing.
3

Sends a Chat Message

Action

In Zapier“Responds to a chat message.”

Puts a question to the model you choose and returns its answer for the next steps of the Zap.

When to use it
summarising a text, drafting a reply or sorting a request, from data an earlier step carried.
Watch out
Model and Message are both required, so map a message that can never arrive empty.
4

Sends a Chat Message With an Image

Action

In Zapier“Responds to a chat message with a sent image.”

Sends a model a message together with a picture, given as a link, and returns what it says about it.

When to use it
describing a product photo or checking what a scanned document shows.
Watch out
the image url field wants a link to the picture, alongside the Model and the user message.
5

Sends a Chat Message With System Prompt

Action

In Zapier“Responds to a chat message using a predefined system prompt.”

The same chat, framed by a system prompt that sets the rules the model follows before it reads the user message.

When to use it
every answer must keep the same tone, format or limits, run after run.
Watch out
three fields are required here: Model, the user message and the System Prompt.
When it breaks

When a DeutschlandGPT Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to DeutschlandGPT, so the traps are the general ones plus what the app's fields demand.

Good news first: a polling trigger remembers what it has already returned, so the same model never starts the Zap twice. The four cases below are where things really go wrong. If a run fails anyway, start with our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Existing models are never picked up

The Zap only reacts to models added after you publish it. The ones already on your account stay out of it, and covering them is a separate job.
  • Two operations called Fetch Models

One is the trigger that starts a Zap on a new model, the other an action that lists every available model mid-Zap. Check which one a step uses before mapping its output.
  • A Model the account cannot use

Every action requires a Model. Map one your account does not offer, or leave it empty, and the action fails: no task billed, but no answer either.
  • Many models added at once

If a large batch of models appears in one go, the trigger may return them all together, and Zapier's flood protection can hold that batch back.

FAQ

DeutschlandGPT and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the DeutschlandGPT Zapier integration free?
On the Zapier side, yes, within the free plan. DeutschlandGPT is not a premium app, so it runs without paying Zapier: 100 tasks a month, Zaps of one trigger and one action, and a check every 15 minutes on the trigger. A Zap that sends each new model a chat message fits inside that. As soon as you add a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a DeutschlandGPT Zap use?
One per successful action, per run. The trigger never counts, and neither do the checks Zapier makes for new models. A Zap that goes from the Fetch Models trigger to Sends a Chat Message uses one task per new model. Add Generates an Image after it and you are at two. An action that fails is not billed. Multiply the number of runs by the actions that succeed to see whether 100 free tasks a month will cover you.
03Does DeutschlandGPT trigger Zaps in real time?
No. Its only trigger, Fetch Models, works by polling: Zapier asks DeutschlandGPT for new models at a fixed interval set by your plan. That is 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team and Enterprise. On paid plans you can change that frequency and run a check by hand from the editor while testing. The actions themselves run as soon as their step is reached.
04What do you need to connect DeutschlandGPT to Zapier?
A DeutschlandGPT account and a Zapier account. From the Apps page in Zapier, add a connection, pick DeutschlandGPT, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. If the Zap must use resources someone else owns, your login needs read or write access to them. Since every action asks for a Model, check which models your account can use, for example with the Fetch Models action, before you build.
05Why are there two Fetch Models in the DeutschlandGPT editor?
Because one is a trigger and the other an action, and they share a label. The trigger fires when a new model is added and can start a Zap. The action lists all the available models in the middle of a Zap and never starts anything on its own. When you build, check that you are in the trigger events for the first step. Later in the Zap, the action is the one that returns the whole list.
06What if the DeutschlandGPT operation you need is not in Zapier?
Then this integration cannot do it today, and no setting will unlock it. The editor offers 1 trigger and 5 actions for DeutschlandGPT: new models in, chat, image reading, image generation and the list of models out. Nothing starts on a conversation and there is no search. Check whether the job splits into what does exist, plus steps in other apps of the Zap. Otherwise, handle that part inside DeutschlandGPT itself or on another automation platform.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for DeutschlandGPT?
Decide on criteria rather than a ranking. Zapier fits if these six operations cover your use of the models and you want to start on a free plan with a two-step Zap. If you plan long chains where every action adds a task, or need operations missing from this list, check what each platform offers for DeutschlandGPT and how it counts usage before you build. Pick the one whose operations match the job, at a cost you can predict.
