Overview

What the Interseller Zapier integration does for you

The Interseller Zapier integration links your Interseller account to the rest of your tools through Zapier. Interseller finds email addresses and runs outreach sequences. Zapier listens for two events there (it calls them triggers: a new contact, a reply) and can write back in three ways: create a contact, update one, or mark one as replied.

Three things people actually build with it. A reply that reaches the right person: Contact Replied starts the Zap as soon as someone answers a sequence, so the reply can land where your sales or hiring team already works. A campaign that fills itself: Create Contact drops a lead from another app straight into an Interseller campaign, as long as the email is clean. A status that stays true: when a prospect answers somewhere Interseller can't see, Mark Contact Replied records it, with a Booked flag when a meeting is on the calendar.

What it won't do: there is no trigger for anything beyond a new contact or a reply, no step that deletes a contact, and no shortcut that creates the contact when the search comes back empty. On the plus side, both triggers are instant, so a reply starts the Zap straight away, even on Free.

Weighing your options? The same app has an Interseller Make integration page, and the Make vs Zapier comparison lays out the criteria side by side.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words come back on every Zapier page. Here they are in plain English, once, so the rest of the page reads easily.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. With Interseller, a new contact in a campaign or a reply to one of your sequences.
Action
The step that does the work once the Zap has started: here, creating, updating or marking a contact in Interseller.
Task
What Zapier counts on your plan: one action that completes successfully. Triggers and failed actions are never counted.
Polling vs instant
Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens. Both Interseller triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists, like an Interseller contact by email, so later steps can use it.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What an Interseller Zap really costs

Zapier bills tasks, not Zaps. With Interseller, the bill depends only on how many actions go through.

  • Trigger0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month
  • Steps per Zap on Free2
  • Premium appNo

The trigger never costs a task, and neither do the checks behind it. Each action that succeeds counts once, so a Zap with three actions uses three tasks per run, while a failed action costs nothing. Interseller is not a premium app: it works on Free, which gives you 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, and Zaps of two steps only. Add a filter or a search and the Zap turns multi-step, which means a paid plan. The interval grid below only concerns polling triggers, and both Interseller triggers are instant, so it never applies here.

Connect

Connect your Interseller account in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Interseller account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that touches Interseller.

  2. 02

    Pick Interseller

Type Interseller in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab then opens on the Interseller side, and that is where the sign-in happens, not in Zapier itself.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Interseller in that tab and let Zapier access the account. You need your own Interseller account, plus read or write rights on anything you don't own but still want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: push replies into a follow-up campaign

GoalWhen someone replies to a sequence, add them to a second Interseller campaign, but only the replies you choose.

  1. 01

    Start the Zap

Create a new Zap. Pick Interseller as the app that starts it and Contact Replied as the event, then select the connection you just made.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier pulls the three most recent replies from your account, so you map fields on a real one instead of guessing what Interseller sends.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon and add a Filter. Set the field to look at, the rule and the value. Use a text rule on text and a number rule on numbers, or it never passes.

  4. 04

    Add Create Contact

Add Interseller again with Create Contact. Choose the follow-up campaign and map the email from the trigger. Both are required, and a badly formatted email means no contact.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step once and read what comes back. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. With a filter inside, it is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

Triggers

Interseller triggers: what starts a Zap

2 events start a Zap when something happens in Interseller, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Contact Replied

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a contact replies back to a sequence.”

This one starts the Zap when a prospect or a candidate answers one of your Interseller sequences. Each reply is a fresh run, so the follow-up happens without anyone babysitting the inbox.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a recruiter wants every reply moved into a second campaign, or posted where the hiring team talks, as soon as it arrives.
Watch out
only replies received after the Zap is published count; answers that came in earlier are never picked up.
2

New Contact

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new contact has been added to any of your campaigns.”

Every time a person lands in any of your Interseller campaigns, however they got there, New Contact hands that contact to Zapier for the next steps to use.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
copy each new lead into the CRM your sales reps live in, so nobody keeps two lists by hand.
Watch out
it watches all campaigns at once, so a Zap that runs Create Contact from this trigger adds a contact, sets itself off again and loops.
Actions

Interseller actions: what a Zap can do

Interseller gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Contact

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new contact.”

Puts a person into one of your Interseller campaigns. You pick the campaign and give an email address, and both are required.

When to use it
a lead fills in a form or shows up in your CRM, and you want them in outreach without any copy-paste.
Watch out
an email that isn't properly formatted is rejected, and the contact is not added at all.
2

Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Updates a contact that already exists inside Interseller.”

Changes the details of someone already stored in Interseller. It needs the contact ID, so it rarely works alone: put Find Contact by Email in front of it.

When to use it
a deal moves in your CRM and the Interseller record should carry the new information.
Watch out
that search step makes the Zap multi-step, which takes it off the free plan.
3

Mark Contact Replied

Action

In Zapier“Indicate a contact as responded”

Tells Interseller that a contact has answered, even when the answer reached you through another channel. A Booked option also records that a meeting is scheduled.

When to use it
a candidate calls back or answers through a form you track elsewhere, and Interseller should know.
Watch out
like Update Contact, it requires the contact ID, so a search usually comes first.
Searches

Interseller search: find a contact by email

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Interseller, so a later step can use it.

A search step reads, it never writes. Interseller offers one, listed at the bottom of the Action event list under the SEARCH heading. Three settings decide what happens when the search doesn't return exactly one contact.

1

Find Contact by Email

Search

In Zapier“Look for a Interseller contact by their email address.”

Looks up an Interseller contact from an email address and hands the match to the following steps. It is the usual way to get the contact ID that Update Contact and Mark Contact Replied require.

When to use it
a reply or a deal shows up in another tool with nothing but an email, and the Interseller record has to change.
Watch out
Interseller decides whether it wants the exact address, so pass the email exactly as it is stored.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nobody stops the Zap and skips every step after it. Switched on, the Zap keeps going with an empty result.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Interseller offers no such variant, so you won't see it on Find Contact by Email.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several contacts match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When an Interseller Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Interseller, so the cases below come from how Zapier itself behaves, plus the one rule Interseller sets on emails.

Most failures with this app aren't bugs. They come from timing, loops and data that isn't clean. If a Zap still misbehaves after these checks, the Zapier troubleshooting page goes through it step by step.

  • No catch-up on old contacts

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Contacts and replies that already exist stay where they are, and moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • New Contact plus Create Contact loops

A Zap that writes into what its own trigger watches sets itself off again and again. New Contact watches every campaign, so Create Contact behind it burns tasks fast.
  • Bulk imports get held back

A trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch, after a list import or a campaign migration, can be slowed down by Zapier's flood protection.
  • Badly formatted emails are dropped

Create Contact skips any email that isn't properly formatted. The contact is simply not added, so check the source field before you map it.

FAQ

Interseller and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Interseller Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as your Zap stays at two steps. Interseller is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, which includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is the step limit: Free only builds Zaps with one trigger and one action. Add a filter, a search step or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Since updating a contact usually means finding its ID with a search first, expect a paid plan for anything beyond creating contacts or reacting to replies.
02How many Zapier tasks does an Interseller Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that starts on Contact Replied and runs Create Contact uses one task each time someone replies. With two actions in the Zap, each completed one counts on its own. Actions that fail are not billed, and the checks Zapier runs in the background cost nothing either. So what drives your usage is the number of replies or new contacts, multiplied by the actions in the Zap. Keep an eye on loops, which can eat through the count quickly.
03Do Interseller triggers fire in real time?
Yes. Both triggers, New Contact and Contact Replied, are instant: Interseller tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The plan intervals (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) only concern triggers that Zapier has to check on a timer, and Interseller has none of those. The trigger type comes from the app itself and cannot be changed in the editor. A Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt in the editor.
04What does it take to connect Interseller to Zapier?
An Interseller account and a Zapier account. From the Apps page in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for Interseller, click Add connection again, then sign in to Interseller in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. If the Zap must touch contacts or campaigns you don't own, you also need read or write rights on them. Before using Create Contact, make sure at least one campaign exists, because that field is required. The connection is made once and reused by every step that uses Interseller.
05Why does Create Contact skip some contacts?
Usually because the email address is not properly formatted, and Interseller does not add a contact otherwise. Check the field you mapped from the earlier step: a value with extra text around it, a missing domain or a name sitting where the email should be will fail the same way. The other cause is the campaign, a required field, so the Zap needs an existing Interseller campaign to point at. Test the step on a real item before you publish, and read what comes back.
06What if the Interseller operation you need isn't listed?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Interseller today. The editor shows six operations: two triggers, three actions and one search, and this page covers all of them. Nothing deletes a contact, and no trigger reacts to anything other than a new contact or a reply. Sometimes two steps fill the gap, like a search followed by an update. If they don't, check what Make exposes for the same app, or ask the Hack'celeration team to look at the scenario with you.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Interseller?
It comes down to your criteria, not to a winner. Zapier makes sense if the two instant triggers and three actions cover your scenario, and if a two-step Zap on the free plan is enough to start. If your flow needs an operation Zapier doesn't expose for Interseller, compare what the other two offer for the same app before choosing. Then weigh how each platform bills a run and who on your team will maintain the automation. The right pick is the one that covers your operations at a cost you can predict.
