Layerre Zapier integrationAutomate Layerre with Zapier.

Layerre Zapier integration: 0 triggers, 5 actions and 2 searches. Layerre never starts a Zap by itself. Another app goes first, then Layerre turns a design into a template, produces one or many variants of it, or cleans up the ones you no longer need.

Overview

What the Layerre Zapier integration actually does

The Layerre Zapier integration lets an event in one of your other apps produce images in Layerre without anyone opening it. Layerre takes one design template and spins out as many image variants as you need; Zapier decides when. Since Layerre has no trigger, it always comes after another app in the Zap, as an action or a lookup.

Three outcomes cover most uses. A template ready to reuse: Create Template pulls a shared design in through its link, with its layers, size and details. A personalised image on demand: Create Variant swaps the content of chosen layers to produce one new version, while Create Variants (Bulk) does a whole batch in one go and can even merge PDF pages into a single file on Layerre's Plus plans and above. And a tidy library: Delete Template and Delete Variant remove what is no longer used.

What the listing does not stress: nothing that happens inside Layerre can start a Zap, because there is no trigger. A finished variant will not notify anything on its own. The two searches only work by ID, so you cannot look a template up by its name. And deleting is a soft delete: the item is marked as deleted, not wiped.

The same app also exists on Make: see our Layerre Make integration page and our Make vs Zapier page.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words carry the rest of the page. Each one is explained here once, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every single time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for it. Layerre offers none.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like producing a Layerre variant.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those, nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and quietly stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so the next steps can use what it found, like a template's layers.
Connection
Your Layerre account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Layerre step of every Zap you build.
Cost

What a Layerre Zap really costs

Layerre is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. Zapier counts tasks, and only actions that go through are counted.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap sizeTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Searches and filtersMake the Zap multi-step: paid plan

The trigger never costs a task, and Zapier checking for new data costs nothing either. Each Layerre action that succeeds counts once, a failed one is not billed. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps: one trigger, one action. Put a Layerre search before your action, or a filter, and the Zap becomes multi-step (more than one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. A few apps and actions take more than one task. How quickly the Zap starts depends on the other app's trigger, not on Layerre.

Connect

Connect Layerre to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Layerre account, plus access to any template or design you did not create yourself but want the Zap to use.

  2. 02

    Pick Layerre

Type Layerre in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Layerre side, where you actually sign in to your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Layerre in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection then appears in your list, and every Layerre step of every Zap reuses it.

First Zap

Your first Layerre Zap, step by step

GoalProduce a new image variant when something happens in another app, after checking the template it starts from.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and pick its start

Create a new Zap and choose the app and the event that should start it. Layerre has no trigger, so the first step always comes from another tool you already use.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier pulls the three most recent items from that account, so you map fields on real data rather than on a guess.

  3. 03

    Add Get Template

Add a step, open the Action event list and choose Get Template under SEARCH. Enter the Template ID: the step brings back its layers so you can see what can be changed.

  4. 04

    Add Create Variant

Add Layerre again with Create Variant. Reuse the same Template ID and fill the layer overrides with values from the trigger.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and look at the variant that came back. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. With a search inside, it needs a paid plan.

Actions

Layerre actions in Zapier

Layerre gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Template

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new template from a design share URL. The template will include all layers, dimensions, and metadata extracted from the design.”

Turns a shared design into a Layerre template from its share link. The template comes with the design's layers, its dimensions and its details, ready for variants.

When to use it
a new design is published elsewhere and should become a template without a manual import.
Watch out
the design must be shared with the right permissions, or the step fails.
2

Create Variant

Action

In Zapier“Creates a variant of a template with custom layer overrides. Use this to generate personalized versions of your template.”

Produces one new version of a template by replacing what selected layers show. Per layer, you can also flip it horizontally or vertically, or switch text to right-to-left for Arabic or Hebrew.

When to use it
each event in another app deserves its own personalised image.
Watch out
the Template ID is required, so keep it handy or find it first.
3

Create Variants (Bulk)

Action

In Zapier“Create multiple variants in one request. Set combine_pdf=true (Plus+ only) to merge PDF items into one multi-page file. Pass items as a JSON array.”

Generates many variants of one template in a single step, from a list of items where each one says which page and which layers to change. On Layerre's Plus plans and above, PDF items can be merged into one multi-page file.

When to use it
a whole batch should come out at once rather than one Zap run per image.
Watch out
pages are counted from 0, not 1.
4

Delete Template

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a template by ID. This is a soft delete - the template will be marked as deleted but not permanently removed.”

Removes a template, picked by its ID, from your Layerre library. Layerre marks it as deleted rather than erasing it for good.

When to use it
a design is retired in another tool and its template should leave the list at the same time.
Watch out
it is marked as deleted, not erased, so this is no way to wipe a design for good.
5

Delete Variant

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a variant by ID. This is a soft delete - the variant will be marked as deleted but not permanently removed.”

Takes one variant out, identified by both its Template ID and its Variant ID. Like templates, it is flagged as deleted, not wiped.

When to use it
an image produced earlier no longer applies and should disappear from the template's variants.
Watch out
without both IDs the step cannot run, so carry them from the step that created the variant.
Searches

Layerre searches in Zapier

2 search steps look for data that already exists in Layerre, so a later step can use it.

Layerre searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Both work by ID and hand what they find to the next steps. Some action fields also offer + Add search step, which inserts the lookup for you. Whether a value must match exactly is up to Layerre, not Zapier. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not what you expected.

1

Get Template

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves a single template by its ID with all layers and metadata.”

Reads one template by its ID and returns it with all its layers and details, so the next step knows what it can change.

When to use it
right before Create Variant, to pick the right layers to override from real data.
Watch out
it only takes an ID, so you cannot find a template by typing its name.
2

Get Variant

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves a single variant by its ID.”

Fetches one variant you already produced, from its Template ID and its Variant ID.

When to use it
a later step needs a variant made earlier, for instance to send it somewhere once it is ready.
Watch out
it needs both the Template ID and the Variant ID; one of them alone is not enough.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, an empty search stops the Zap and skips the steps that relied on it. Turned on, the Zap carries on with nothing in hand.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into find-or-create on apps that offer it. Layerre exposes no find-or-create variant, so you will not get it on these two searches.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them on together.
When it breaks

When a Layerre Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Layerre and no limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks is what breaks on any Zap.

Four situations explain most surprises. None of them shows up as a red error on day one, which is why they are worth knowing before you publish. For deeper cases, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to start.

  • The past is never picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Events from before are ignored, so producing variants for older items is a separate job.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

If a Zap writes into the very place its own trigger watches, it fires again and again and burns through your task count fast.
  • A big batch gets held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of running everything.
  • The same item never runs twice

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen. The same item never starts the Zap twice.

FAQ

Layerre Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Layerre Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as the Zap stays short. Layerre is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the size of each Zap: two steps, one trigger and one action. Since Layerre has no trigger, the first step comes from another app, which leaves room for exactly one Layerre action. Add Get Template before it, or a filter, and the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Layerre Zap use?
One task per Layerre action that succeeds. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and neither does Zapier checking for new data. In a Zap with several actions, each successful one counts on its own, so creating a variant and then deleting an older one uses two tasks per run. A failed action is not billed. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so the counter in your account is the number to watch.
03Is Layerre on Zapier real time?
That depends on the app that starts the Zap, because Layerre has no trigger of its own. If that app has an instant trigger, it alerts Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Layerre step follows straight away on any plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. A lightning bolt in the editor marks an instant trigger.
04What is needed to connect Layerre to Zapier?
A Layerre account, then a few clicks. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Layerre, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. For templates or designs you did not create yourself, you also need access to them. To build templates from a Zap, the design you point to must be shared with the right permissions, otherwise Create Template has nothing to read.
05Does deleting a Layerre template or variant remove it for good?
No. Delete Template and Delete Variant are soft deletes: Layerre marks the item as deleted but does not permanently remove it. So a Zap that tidies the library hides items rather than erasing them. Delete Template asks only for the Template ID. Both actions still need the right IDs, and Delete Variant needs the Template ID and the Variant ID together. To tidy the library on its own, start the Zap from the tool where a design gets retired, then put the deletion right after.
06What if the Layerre operation you need is not listed?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Layerre today. The integration offers five actions (Create Template, Create Variant, Create Variants (Bulk), Delete Template, Delete Variant) and two searches, Get Template and Get Variant. There is no trigger, so nothing inside Layerre can start a Zap, and no step edits an existing template. Those moves stay manual in Layerre. Check the action list in the editor before building around a gap, since an app can add operations over time.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Layerre?
Choose on criteria rather than on a ranking. Coverage: on Zapier, Layerre has five actions and two searches but no trigger, and the app is also on Make, so compare what each lists. Batches: on Zapier, Create Variants (Bulk) produces a whole set of images in a single action. Cost model: Zapier bills each successful action as a task. Zap shape: on the free plan, a Layerre Zap holds one trigger from another app and one Layerre action.
