Overview

What the Linguapop Zapier integration does

The Linguapop Zapier integration connects your placement tests to the rest of your tools through Zaps: automations built once on Zapier, each made of a trigger (the event that starts it) and one or more actions (what it then does). Linguapop brings one of each: a finished test on one side, a new invitation on the other.

Three things you get out of it. A results log that fills itself: New Placement Test Result starts a Zap each time a candidate completes a test, and the next step writes the outcome wherever your team reads it. Invitations that go out from your candidate list: Create a Placement Test Invitation creates the invitation from an email address and a language, and can have Linguapop send the email. And a note to whoever asked for the test, sent by email as soon as the result comes in.

One detail matters more than the rest. New Placement Test Result is an instant trigger: Linguapop tells Zapier as soon as the test is done, so even on the free plan nobody waits for a timed check.

What Zapier does not do here: it cannot look anything up in Linguapop, since the app has no search, and it has no step to edit or cancel an invitation once created. Before wiring more apps together, our Zapier review is a good place to weigh the tool itself.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

The words you will meet in the editor, in plain English.

Zap
One automation on Zapier: a trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. For Linguapop, that event is a candidate completing a placement test.
Action
What the Zap does once started. Linguapop's only action creates a placement test invitation for a candidate.
Task
What Zapier counts against your plan: one action completed successfully. Actions that fail are not counted.
Polling vs instant
Polling: Zapier checks the app for new items on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it there otherwise.
Connection
Your Linguapop account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Linguapop step in all your Zaps.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action is enough to make one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Linguapop Zap really costs

The trigger is free; each action that succeeds is one task.

  • New test result0 tasks
  • Each invitation created1 task
  • Action that fails0 tasks
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2 steps per Zap

A test result arriving costs nothing: Zapier never bills the trigger. Each invitation created, or each row written after a result, is one task, and an action that fails is not counted. Linguapop is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps. The free plan stops at two steps, though. Result then row fits; result, filter, then row is multi-step and needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only concerns polling triggers, such as the one of an app that holds your candidates. It never applies to New Placement Test Result: that trigger is instant and starts the Zap right away, whatever your plan.

Connect

Connect Linguapop to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and start a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need an existing Linguapop account first: Zapier links accounts, it does not create them.

  2. 02

    Find Linguapop

Search for Linguapop in the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Linguapop side, and that is where the actual sign-in happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Linguapop in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved, and every Linguapop trigger or action in your Zaps reuses it from then on.

First Zap

Your first Zap: log each result, then tell the requester

GoalEach finished test starts the Zap, the result is written as a new row in your spreadsheet, and an email goes out to the person who asked for the test.

  1. 01

Build: start from the Linguapop result

Create a Zap and pick Linguapop as the trigger, with the New Placement Test Result event. Select the connection you made above.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent results of the connected account, so you map fields from a real candidate rather than an empty template.

  3. 03

Write the result into a row

Add the spreadsheet step and map the result fields to the columns you want. One row per finished test gives your team a log it can sort and share.

  4. 04

    Send the email

Add an email step that tells the requester the test is done, with the result fields mapped into the message. This second action makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and read what came back, then click Publish to switch the Zap on. Only tests completed after that moment will start it.

Triggers

Linguapop trigger on Zapier

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Linguapop, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Placement Test Result

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a placement test is completed.”

Starts a Zap as soon as a candidate finishes a Linguapop placement test, and hands the result to the steps that follow. From there you can log it, share it with the person who requested the test, or file it next to the candidate's record in another tool.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your team needs to see a candidate's level without logging in to Linguapop each time.
Watch out
tests completed before the Zap was published are never sent; only results that come in afterwards start it.
Actions

Linguapop action on Zapier

Linguapop gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create a Placement Test Invitation

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new placement test invitation and optionally sends an invitation email.”

Creates a placement test invitation for one candidate, from their email address and the language to test, and can have Linguapop email it straight away. Reading and listening sections can be switched on or off per invitation.

When to use it
candidates arrive in another tool and should get their test without manual copying.
Watch out
leave Test Reading or Test Listening empty and the default from your Linguapop Customization applies.
When it breaks

When a Linguapop Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Linguapop, so the traps come from Zapier's own rules.

Four cases show up as soon as invitations and results start flowing between tools. None is specific to Linguapop, and each one costs tasks or leaves a candidate out. When a Zap stops for a reason you cannot pin down, go to Zapier troubleshooting.

  • Past candidates are skipped

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Candidates already in your list get no invitation, and older results are not sent; that backlog is a separate job.
  • The loop between sheet and test

If a result Zap writes into the same sheet your invitation Zap watches, each written row can look like a new candidate, and every loop burns a task.
  • A bulk import held back

Paste a large batch of candidates at once, after an import or a migration, and Zapier's flood protection can hold the batch back rather than invite everyone.
  • No double invitation from a timed check

When the invitation Zap starts on a polling trigger, Zapier remembers the rows it has already seen, so the same candidate does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

Linguapop and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Linguapop Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side. Linguapop is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit that catches people is the two-step ceiling: one trigger, one action. A result that writes one row fits, and so does a new row that creates one invitation. Add a filter, or a second action such as marking the row as invited, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Linguapop's own pricing is outside the scope of this page.
02How many Zapier tasks does Linguapop use?
One per action that succeeds. A test result arriving is a trigger, and triggers never cost a task. Creating a placement test invitation is one task; writing a result into a sheet is another, counted on its own. An action that fails is not billed. So a Zap that invites a candidate and then updates their row costs two tasks per candidate. Watch out for a sheet that both receives results and triggers invitations: that loop can eat the free plan's monthly count fast.
03Does Linguapop send results to Zapier in real time?
Yes. New Placement Test Result is an instant trigger: Linguapop tells Zapier the moment a test is completed, so the Zap starts right away, on any plan, free included. Plan intervals only concern polling triggers, where Zapier checks an app on a timer. They would matter on the invitation side, if the app that holds your candidates uses a polling trigger; in that case, any delay comes from that app, not from Linguapop. The result side never waits.
04What does it take to connect Linguapop to Zapier?
An existing Linguapop account. In Zapier, open Apps, click + Add connection, search for Linguapop, click Add connection, then sign in on the Linguapop tab and grant access. The connection is reused by every Linguapop step afterwards. To create invitations, you also need what the action requires: the candidate's email address, the language to test, and a decision on Send Email. Anything you want to touch on an account you do not own needs the matching access.
05Why did a Linguapop candidate not get an email?
Check the Send Email field of Create a Placement Test Invitation first. It is required, and it decides whether Linguapop emails the invitation to the candidate. Set to no, the invitation is created in Linguapop but Linguapop does not send the invitation email. Then check that the Zap was published before the candidate was added: rows that existed earlier never start it. Finally, look at what you mapped into the Email field: it must be the candidate's address. If the action fails, no task is counted.
06What if the Linguapop operation you need is missing?
Then it is not available through Zapier today. Linguapop offers one trigger, a finished placement test, and one action, creating an invitation; there is no search and nothing to edit, cancel or resend an invitation. Those steps stay in Linguapop itself. If the gap is upstream, such as where candidates come from, the answer is usually the trigger of the app that holds them. If it is downstream, the result trigger can feed any app that has the action you are after.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Linguapop?
Choose on criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Linguapop gives you an instant result trigger and an invitation action, usable from the free plan as long as each Zap stays at two steps. This page's source says nothing about Linguapop on Make or n8n, so first check whether each tool offers the app. Then compare how many steps your flow really needs, how many candidates go through it each month, and who will maintain it once it is live.
