Overview

What the LinkedIn Conversions Zapier integration is for

The LinkedIn Conversions Zapier integration lets another app tell LinkedIn that a customer did something that matters to you, through Zapier and without code. The event happens in your CRM, your website tools or a database; Zapier passes it to LinkedIn as a conversion. It only ever sends; it never starts a Zap on its own.

Three results, all built on the one action, Send Conversion Event. First, sales results credited to your ads: when a deal is marked won in your CRM, LinkedIn receives a conversion, so a campaign is judged on revenue moments rather than form fills. Second, offline steps made visible: a meeting held or a contract signed, recorded in another tool, reaches LinkedIn the same way. Third, conversions from a database: a new record in a table you keep can become a conversion without anyone uploading a file.

What the integration does not do. It has no trigger, so nothing in LinkedIn can start a Zap: another app always opens it. It has no search, so a Zap cannot check which conversions already exist before sending. And it cannot create, edit or delete a conversion itself, only send events to one that already exists on the LinkedIn side.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven terms carry the whole page. Each one is explained here once, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. LinkedIn Conversions has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes or sends something for you. Here, sending a conversion to LinkedIn.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by its app the moment it happens; a polling one is checked by Zapier on a timer.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your LinkedIn account linked to Zapier one time, then reused by every LinkedIn Conversions step in every Zap.
Cost

What a LinkedIn Conversions Zap really costs

LinkedIn Conversions is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. Zapier even has a help article titled "Track LinkedIn Conversions for free with Zapier".

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan stepsOne trigger and one action
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • BilledEach conversion sent successfully

The trigger from your other app costs nothing. Each conversion that Send Conversion Event delivers successfully is one task; a failed send is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: one trigger and this one action. Add a filter to send only some events, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below only matters if your source app's trigger polls: an instant one skips it, and LinkedIn Conversions has no trigger.

Connect

Connect LinkedIn Conversions in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You need a LinkedIn account, and read or write access to anything you do not own yourself that the Zap should reach.

  2. 02

    Pick LinkedIn Conversions

Search LinkedIn Conversions by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on LinkedIn, where the sign-in itself happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to LinkedIn in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once, then offered in a list by every LinkedIn Conversions step you add.

First Zap

Your first Zap: report won deals to LinkedIn

GoalEach deal marked won in your CRM is sent to LinkedIn as a conversion, so your campaigns are measured on closed business.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap in Zapier. Since LinkedIn Conversions has no trigger, the first step belongs to your CRM: pick it and the event that fires when a deal is won.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from the CRM, so the rest of the Zap is set up on a real deal rather than a guess.

  3. 03

    Add Send Conversion Event

Add LinkedIn Conversions with the action Send Conversion Event, choose your connection and the conversion to report to, then map the deal's details into the fields it offers.

  4. 04

    Keep a log

Optionally add a spreadsheet step that writes each conversion sent. This second action makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan; skip it on the free one.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test each step and read what came back, then publish the Zap. Only deals won after publishing are reported; earlier ones stay out.

Actions

The LinkedIn Conversions action

LinkedIn Conversions gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send Conversion Event

Action

In Zapier“Sends a Conversion Event to a Conversion.”

Reports one event to a conversion you have set up on LinkedIn, using the details passed in by the step before it. It is the only operation of this integration, so every Zap here ends with it.

When to use it
something that counts as a result for your ads happens outside LinkedIn, in a CRM, a website tool or a database.
Watch out
each successful send is one task, so a busy source app drains the allowance fast.
When it breaks

When a LinkedIn Conversions Zap breaks

Zapier attaches three help articles to LinkedIn Conversions. With the limits shared by every Zap, they cover most surprises.

Six cases to know before you rely on these numbers. When something still looks wrong, Zapier troubleshooting is the next stop.

  • Getting started

Zapier publishes "How to get started with LinkedIn Conversions on Zapier". Open it first if the action does not show what you expect.
  • Tracking on the free plan

The article "Track LinkedIn Conversions for free with Zapier" deals with the free plan. Read it before you pay for a plan you may not need.
  • Importing conversions

Zapier also has a help article on importing and tracking conversions with this app. Open it when the conversions you send come from an import rather than a live tool.
  • History is not sent

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Deals won before that are never reported; moving them is a separate job.
  • A big batch gets held back

When your source app's trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • No double counting from polling

If the source app's trigger is a polling one, Zapier remembers what it has seen, so the same record does not send a conversion twice.

FAQ

LinkedIn Conversions Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the LinkedIn Conversions Zapier integration free?
Yes. LinkedIn Conversions is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, and Zapier even has a help article on tracking LinkedIn Conversions for free. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, limited to two steps each: your trigger and Send Conversion Event. Adding a filter or another action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. No price is quoted here, since plan grids change too often.
02How many tasks does a LinkedIn Conversions Zap use?
One task per conversion sent successfully. The trigger in your other app is free, however often it fires. A Zap that reports each won deal uses one task per deal; if you also log it in a spreadsheet, that is two per deal. A send that fails is not counted against your plan. So the volume of your source app, not LinkedIn, decides how fast your monthly allowance goes, which is worth checking before you connect a busy one.
03Are conversions sent to LinkedIn in real time?
That depends on the app that starts the Zap, because LinkedIn Conversions has no trigger of its own. If your CRM or database offers an instant trigger, it tells Zapier as soon as the event happens and the conversion follows straight away. If its trigger is a polling one, Zapier checks at an interval set by your plan, and the conversion waits for that check. Look at the trigger in the editor: an instant one shows a lightning bolt.
04What do you need to connect LinkedIn Conversions to Zapier?
A LinkedIn account, and read or write access to anything you do not own yourself that the Zap should reach. The connection is made from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection: search LinkedIn Conversions, sign in to LinkedIn in the tab that opens, and grant Zapier access. You also need the other app that will start the Zap, connected the same way, since this integration cannot start one.
05Why can't a Zap start from LinkedIn Conversions?
Because the integration has no trigger at all, only one action. LinkedIn Conversions is built to receive events, never to announce them. So every Zap you build here starts in another app, the one where the result actually happens: a CRM, a website tool, a form or a database, and ends with Send Conversion Event. If that source app is not on Zapier, the integration cannot help, whatever plan you are on.
06What if the LinkedIn Conversions operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then this integration cannot do it. It exposes one visible operation, Send Conversion Event, and nothing to look up, edit or delete conversions. There is no action for lead forms, audiences or campaigns: the app only reports results. For anything beyond that, sending the event from the tool where it happens, another automation platform, or a different design of the workflow, is the way around. Check the list in the editor before you plan a larger flow.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LinkedIn Conversions?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. Zapier's strong point is simplicity: one ready-made action, and a free plan that covers a two-step Zap built on any source app available in Zapier. The trade-off is per-task billing once volumes grow, and the two-step ceiling on the free plan. Compare platforms on the source apps you use and on how each one bills a high volume of conversions. Test with real data either way.
