Loyaltypass Zapier integrationAutomate Loyaltypass with Zapier.

The Loyaltypass Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 5 actions and 0 searches. Everything starts in another app: a sale or a sign-up there issues a pass, adds points or takes them away in Loyaltypass. Here is what it costs, how to connect it and what breaks.

Beta app Zapier still marks this integration as beta.

Overview

Why connect Loyaltypass to Zapier

The Loyaltypass Zapier integration lets your other apps drive your digital loyalty cards. Something happens in a sales, form or contact tool, and Zapier issues a pass, adds points or deducts them in Loyaltypass for you. Loyaltypass is still marked as beta on Zapier, which is worth knowing before you build on it.

Three results worth building. Points that follow every sale: a sale in your sales tool becomes an Add Reward Points on the buyer's pass, with no one typing the amount twice. Cards handed out at sign-up: a new contact elsewhere gets Issue Pass to Customer, and the pass is ready before they ask for it. Balances you can reuse: Find Customer reads a member's balance and validity so a later step can mention it.

Now what Zapier does not do for Loyaltypass. There is no trigger at all: nothing that happens in Loyaltypass, a new pass or a points change, can start a Zap. If you want Loyaltypass to warn another app, it will not happen here. Find Customer looks like a search but it is an action, so it counts as a task and makes the Zap multi-step like any second action. Plan your Zaps around actions only.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Eight terms come back across this page. Here they are once, in ordinary words.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. With Loyaltypass, it always comes from another app, since Loyaltypass has none.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here in Loyaltypass.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completed successfully. Your plan counts those, and nothing else.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeping only what is new.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports by itself, calling Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a check.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What the Loyaltypass Zapier integration really costs

Zapier bills tasks, and only actions that go through are counted.

  • TriggerFree, never counted
  • Successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Paid plan requiredNo

Each of the five Loyaltypass actions counts as one task when it succeeds, Find Customer and List Loyalty Pass Template included; one that fails costs nothing. The trigger, from whichever app starts the Zap, never costs a task. Loyaltypass is not a premium app, so the free plan works: 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. Chain Find Customer before Add Reward Points, or add a filter, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns the trigger of the app that starts your Zap, since Loyaltypass has none.

Connect

Connect Loyaltypass to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A dialog opens with a search box: type Loyaltypass and pick it from the results.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Loyaltypass

Click Add connection. A tab opens on Loyaltypass: sign in with the account that runs your loyalty programs. You need an existing account, plus read or write access to anything you do not own that the Zap should touch.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once, and all five Loyaltypass actions reuse it in every Zap you build afterwards, without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Loyaltypass Zap, step by step

GoalWhen your sales tool records a sale that meets your condition, add the matching reward points to the buyer's Loyaltypass card.

  1. 01

    Pick the starting app

Create a Zap and choose your sales tool as the trigger app, with its new-sale event. Loyaltypass has no trigger, so the Zap always starts in another app.

  2. 02

    Test on a real sale

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of that account, so you map the Loyaltypass fields on a real sale rather than a guess.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter and fill the three boxes: the field to look at, the rule and the value. A number rule only works on numbers.

  4. 04

    Add Reward Points

Add Loyaltypass with Add Reward Points. Pick the Program Template ID, map the points and use the sale's own reference as Transaction ID. With a filter, this Zap needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test each step once and check the balance in Loyaltypass. When it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on. Sales recorded before that are not picked up.

Actions

The Loyaltypass actions

Loyaltypass gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Reward Points

Action

In Zapier“Adds a specified number of points to a customer's pass using their member ID.”

Credits a set number of points to a member's pass, based on their member ID. This is the action that turns activity elsewhere into a growing balance.

When to use it
a sale lands in another app and should earn the buyer points.
Watch out
Transaction ID is required and must be unique, because Loyaltypass uses it to add points only once.
2

Deduct Reward Points

Action

In Zapier“Deducts a specified number of points from a customer's pass using their member ID.”

Removes points from a member's pass, the mirror of Add Reward Points. You give it the member, the program and how many points come off.

When to use it
a reward gets used outside Loyaltypass and the balance has to drop.
Watch out
Member ID is the one returned when the pass was issued, so keep it from that earlier step.
3

Find Customer

Action

In Zapier“Finds a customer's pass details, including balance and validity, using their member ID.”

Reads a member's pass details, their balance and how long the pass stays valid, from their member ID. Later steps can then reuse those values in a message or a record.

When to use it
a follow-up email should quote the customer's current balance.
Watch out
it is an action, not a search step, so each run costs a task.
4

Issue Pass to Customer

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new loyalty pass for a customer, or returns their existing pass if already registered.”

Gives a customer a new loyalty pass in the program you choose, or hands back the pass they already hold if their email is registered. No duplicate card either way.

When to use it
someone signs up in another tool and should leave with a card.
Watch out
Program ID and Email are required, and the email has to be unique to that customer.
5

List Loyalty Pass Template

Action

In Zapier“Lists all active loyalty programs available for issuing passes.”

Returns every active loyalty program you can issue passes from. Handy when you run more than one program and want the right ID in hand.

When to use it
you are setting up a Zap and need to see which programs are live.
Watch out
only active programs show up, so an inactive one will be missing from the list.
When it breaks

When the Loyaltypass integration breaks

Zapier lists no help article for Loyaltypass, so the traps below are the general ones, applied to a loyalty card, plus one rule carried by the points actions themselves.

None of them shows on day one. They show up as a balance that looks wrong or a task count climbing faster than your sales. When a Zap misbehaves, open our Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • Past sales never earn points

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Sales recorded before stay without points; crediting that backlog is a separate job.
  • A reused Transaction ID

Loyaltypass adds points only once per Transaction ID. If every run sends the same value, the later sales earn nothing and the balance stays flat.
  • A loop through the starting app

If a later step writes into the very place the starting app's trigger watches, the Zap sets itself off again and again and burns through your tasks.
  • A bulk import gets held back

When the starting app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the trigger back.

FAQ

Loyaltypass Zapier integration FAQ

01Is the Loyaltypass Zapier integration free?
Yes on the Zapier side, because Loyaltypass is not a premium app and runs on the free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, so a sale in another app followed by Add Reward Points fits. As soon as you add a filter, Find Customer or any second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Your Loyaltypass subscription is a separate matter that Zapier does not cover.
02How many tasks does a Loyaltypass Zap use?
One task for each Loyaltypass action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that adds points after every sale costs one task per sale. Put Find Customer in front to read the balance first and each run counts two, since Find Customer is an action here, not a free lookup. An action that fails is not counted, and Zapier checking the starting app for new data costs nothing either.
03Can Loyaltypass start a Zap straight away?
No, because Loyaltypass has no trigger on Zapier. The Zap always starts in another app, and that app's trigger sets the timing. If it is an instant trigger, the event reaches Zapier as soon as it happens. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals: every 15 minutes on the free plan, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Check which kind your starting app uses before promising anyone instant points.
04What do you need to connect Loyaltypass to Zapier?
An existing Loyaltypass account and a Zapier account. From the Apps page, click + Add connection, search Loyaltypass, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. If the Zap should touch things you do not own on that account, you also need read or write access to them. Set up at least one active loyalty program before testing, since every action except the template list asks for a program ID.
05Why does Add Reward Points ask for a Transaction ID?
Because Loyaltypass uses it to make sure points are added only once to a member's account. The field is required on Add Reward Points and on Deduct Reward Points. Map it to a reference that is unique to each sale in your starting app, never a fixed value. If two runs send the same Transaction ID, the second one adds nothing, and the customer's balance quietly falls behind what they actually bought.
06What if the Loyaltypass operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Loyaltypass today. The editor offers five actions, Issue Pass to Customer, Add Reward Points, Deduct Reward Points, Find Customer and List Loyalty Pass Template, and no trigger. Anything that should start from Loyaltypass, such as reacting to a new pass, is out of reach here. Check first whether the result can be built from the other side, starting where the event happens. If not, compare Make and n8n.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Loyaltypass?
It comes down to criteria, not a winner. Zapier offers five ready-made Loyaltypass actions, a three-step connection and billing per successful action, with the free plan covering a two-step Zap. That fits flows where another app starts things and Loyaltypass records the points. If you need Loyaltypass itself to start automations, or the app's beta status worries you, check what Make and n8n offer for it and how they bill.
