Overview

What the LoyaltySurf Zapier integration actually does for you

LoyaltySurf runs loyalty campaigns for B2C, FinTech and SaaS companies. Plugged into Zapier, it does two things: it announces what happens inside your campaigns (someone joins, a reward unlocks, a form comes back, a campaign closes) and it accepts one instruction from outside, crediting a loyalty action so a reward can unlock.

A participant log you never update by hand. New Participant fires each time someone enters a campaign. A SaaS team can push every sign-up into the spreadsheet it already reports from, instead of exporting the list now and then.

Rewards that actually reach people. New Participant Reward tells you who unlocked what. New Participant Reward Form Submission tells you who sent back the details needed to receive it. Each one can start the email, the internal note or the to-do that gets the reward out the door.

Points earned somewhere else. Trigger Loyalty Action runs in the other direction. Another app reports that a customer did the thing your campaign rewards, and the Zap credits it in LoyaltySurf so the matching reward unlocks.

Now the honest part. Zapier offers no search step for LoyaltySurf, no action to add or edit a participant, and nothing that changes a campaign. Four triggers and one action: that is the whole menu, so check it covers your plan before you build. Still choosing a platform? Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every line of this page. Here they are in plain English, once.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One action that completes successfully counts as one task, and your plan is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer instead.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets a condition you set, and stops it quietly otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap with more than one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a LoyaltySurf Zap really costs

LoyaltySurf is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works from the free plan. The meter only moves on actions.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • Trigger costZero tasks, whatever the volume
  • FilterMakes the Zap multi-step, paid plan required

A trigger firing costs nothing. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, and a failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, which the manual reward approval case needs, and the Zap becomes multi-step, so a paid plan. The interval grid below is how often Zapier checks polling triggers; it does not apply to LoyaltySurf, whose four triggers are all instant.

Connect

Connect your LoyaltySurf account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your LoyaltySurf account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that touches it.

  2. 02

    Pick LoyaltySurf

Type LoyaltySurf in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an existing LoyaltySurf account; Zapier only links to it.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A new tab opens on LoyaltySurf. Sign in and allow Zapier to use the account. If the campaigns belong to a colleague, make sure your login has access to them: Zapier can only touch what your own account can read or edit.

First Zap

Your first Zap: thank people the moment their reward unlocks

GoalWhen a participant unlocks a reward and that reward is approved, send them a personal email from your usual email tool.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Click Create, then Zap. Choose LoyaltySurf as the starting app and New Participant Reward as the event, then pick your connection.

  2. 02

    Choose the campaign

Select the Campaign to watch, then test the trigger. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your account, so you map fields on a real reward rather than on a blank.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

If rewards need manual approval in LoyaltySurf, add a Filter from the plus icon. Set the field that reflects approval, the rule and the value, using the test item to find them.

  4. 04

    Add the email action

Add your email tool as the action and map the participant's address and the reward name from the trigger into the message. Test the step and read what came back.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish. From now on each approved reward sends its email. Rewards unlocked before this point are not picked up, so handle those by hand.

Triggers

LoyaltySurf triggers on Zapier

4 events start a Zap when something happens in LoyaltySurf, and 4 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Campaign Ended

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a campaign ends.”

Closes the loop on a campaign: the Zap starts when the campaign you picked reaches its end, so the wrap-up work no longer depends on someone noticing the date.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send your team the signal to pull final numbers, or post a thank-you to the channel where the campaign was announced.
Watch out
the trigger is tied to one Campaign, chosen in the setup; a second campaign needs its own Zap or a copy of this one.
2

New Participant

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new participant is added to your campaign.”

Hands you every person who joins a campaign, one at a time, as soon as LoyaltySurf adds them. It is the trigger most setups start with, because it feeds everything downstream.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
copy each new participant into the spreadsheet or contact list your team already works from, so nobody exports by hand.
Watch out
people who joined before you published the Zap are not sent; bring the existing list over separately.
3

New Participant Reward

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a participant unlocks a reward (Important: If you have manual reward approval enabled, you must use a Zapier Filter).”

Signals that a participant has unlocked a reward, with the person and the reward attached. This is the moment most loyalty programs want to act on.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
start the congratulations email, or open a task for whoever hands out the reward.
Watch out
LoyaltySurf's own description warns that with manual reward approval switched on, a Zapier filter is required. Without it, unapproved rewards go through too, and the filter makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.
4

New Participant Reward Form Submission

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a participant submits a reward form”

Fires when a participant fills in the reward form, the step where they send whatever you need to deliver what they earned. Unlike the reward trigger, it means the ball is now in your court.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
create the fulfilment to-do with the participant's answers already in it.
Watch out
pick the Campaign before testing, and submit a form yourself first if the account has none yet, otherwise the test has nothing to show.
Actions

The LoyaltySurf action on Zapier

LoyaltySurf gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Trigger Loyalty Action

Action

In Zapier“Triggers a loyalty action to unlock a reward.”

Credits a participant with a loyalty action recorded in another app, which unlocks the reward attached to it, for example watching a demo.

When to use it
a demo tool reports that someone watched your demo, and that person gets their reward without a manual entry.
Watch out
it needs a Campaign, a Campaign Reward and the participant's email, so the earlier step must carry that email.
When it breaks

When a LoyaltySurf Zap breaks

Zapier lists no LoyaltySurf-specific errors or rate limits. What breaks comes from how Zaps behave in general, plus one trap written into LoyaltySurf's own description.

These four cases are the ones to rule out first. If a Zap still misbehaves after you have ruled these out, head to our Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • Unapproved rewards slip through

With manual reward approval on, New Participant Reward needs a filter. Without one, every unlocked reward goes through, approved or not.
  • No backfill of past activity

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Participants and rewards that already existed are never sent; move them as a separate job.
  • A reward Zap that feeds itself

A Zap that starts on a LoyaltySurf reward and then runs Trigger Loyalty Action writes where its own trigger watches. It can fire again and again and burn tasks.
  • A bulk import that stalls

If a campaign suddenly receives a huge batch of participants, Zapier's flood protection can hold the Zap back instead of running every item.

FAQ

LoyaltySurf Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the LoyaltySurf Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as your Zap stays simple. LoyaltySurf is not a premium app, so the free plan can use it, with 100 tasks a month. The catch is the two-step limit: the free plan builds one trigger plus one action and nothing more. A Zap that adds a filter, which you need if rewards are approved manually, or a second action, is multi-step and needs a paid plan. The trigger itself never costs a task.
02How many tasks does a LoyaltySurf Zap use?
One per successful action, every time the Zap runs. The trigger itself is free, so a new participant or an unlocked reward costs nothing on arrival. If the Zap then sends one email, that is one task; if it sends an email and adds a spreadsheet row, that is two. An action that fails is not counted. With Trigger Loyalty Action, each credited participant counts as one task on your plan.
03Does LoyaltySurf send events to Zapier instantly?
Yes, all four LoyaltySurf triggers are instant. LoyaltySurf itself warns Zapier when a participant joins, unlocks a reward, submits the reward form or when a campaign ends, and the Zap starts at once. That holds on every plan, free included, so the polling interval grid on Zapier's pricing page does not concern this app. In the editor, a Zap built on one of these triggers shows a lightning bolt next to it.
04What do you need to connect LoyaltySurf to Zapier?
A LoyaltySurf account and a Zapier account, nothing else. The connection is made from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection, then you sign in to LoyaltySurf and grant access. In practice, also have at least one campaign set up: every trigger asks you to pick a Campaign, and the action also asks for a Campaign Reward. If someone else owns the campaigns, your login needs access to them.
05Why does a reward Zap fire for rewards that are not approved yet?
Because New Participant Reward fires when the reward unlocks, not when someone approves it. LoyaltySurf states it plainly: if manual reward approval is enabled, the Zap must use a Zapier filter. Add a Filter step after the trigger, choose the field that reflects approval in your test data, set the rule and the value, and only approved rewards continue. Keep in mind the filter turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
06What if the LoyaltySurf operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then it is not available through Zapier today, and no setting will reveal it. The list is short: four triggers, one action and no search, so there is no way to create a participant, look one up or edit a campaign from a Zap. The options are to ask LoyaltySurf whether it plans to add the operation, or to compare what other automation platforms offer for LoyaltySurf before building a workaround.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LoyaltySurf?
Decide on criteria rather than on a ranking. Start with what you need to do: Zapier covers LoyaltySurf with four triggers and one action, so if you must create participants or look one up, check whether the other platform handles that first. Then do the arithmetic: on Zapier the trigger is free, each successful action is one task, and the free plan stops at 100 tasks a month, so multiply your expected events by your actions. Last, count your filters: a Zap that screens out unapproved rewards is multi-step on Zapier, which means a paid plan.
