ManicTime Cloud Zapier integrationAutomate ManicTime Cloud with Zapier.
The ManicTime Cloud Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 0 actions and 0 searches. One door in: a new tag in your time tracker starts the automation, and everything that follows happens in your other apps. Here is what it can do, what it costs and where it trips.

What the ManicTime Cloud Zapier integration actually does
The ManicTime Cloud Zapier integration links your ManicTime Cloud account to Zapier so that a new tag can set off work in other apps. It runs in one direction only. ManicTime Cloud is the starting point, and every write happens somewhere else. If that matches what you have in mind, the setup is short and fits the free plan.
Three things people typically get out of the New Tag trigger. First, a running log: every new tag lands as a row in a spreadsheet, so you keep an outside record of how your tag list grows without opening the tracker. Second, a heads-up: a new tag becomes a message in your team chat, so the people who report time see it is there. Third, a follow-up to-do: a new tag opens an item in your task tool, so whoever owns the tag list gets a reminder to tidy it.
Now the honest part. Zapier offers no action and no search for ManicTime Cloud. A Zap cannot create a tag, log time or look anything up inside the tracker. It can only notice new tags. The trigger is also a polling one, so it is never immediate: on the free plan Zapier checks every 15 minutes, and a paid plan shortens that wait and lets you run a check by hand from the editor. If your plan needs more than that, you are outside what this integration offers.

Zapier words, explained once
Eight terms come back on every Zapier page. Here they are in plain English, so the rest reads easily.
- Zap
- The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Here it is a new tag in ManicTime Cloud.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in another app on this page.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer. It asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, calling Zapier when the event happens. ManicTime Cloud has none on Zapier.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
ManicTime Cloud is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works on the free plan. The New Tag trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks for new tags.
- Premium appNo, it works on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps each
- What costs a taskEach action that succeeds; the trigger costs nothing
- FilterMakes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan is needed
You pay in tasks, and only for actions that succeed in your other apps. One tag that feeds a single spreadsheet row costs one task. Add a second action and that same tag costs two. An action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps: New Tag plus one action. Put a filter in between and you need a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to New Tag, since it is a polling trigger.
Connect your ManicTime Cloud account
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your ManicTime Cloud account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that needs it.
- 02
Pick ManicTime Cloud
Type ManicTime Cloud into the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an existing ManicTime Cloud account for the next step to work.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
A new tab opens on ManicTime Cloud. Sign in, then grant Zapier access to the account. If the tags you care about belong to someone else, make sure your login can read them.
Your first Zap: log new tags, but only the ones that matter
GoalEach new ManicTime Cloud tag that passes your condition becomes a row in a spreadsheet.
- 01
Create the Zap and pick the trigger
Start a new Zap, choose ManicTime Cloud as the app and New Tag as the event. Then select the connection you made in the section above.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent tags of the account, so you pick a real one to build on. Note which fields it shows.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon and add Filter. Set the field to look at, the rule and the value. Use a text rule on text. With a filter the Zap is multi-step, so this needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the spreadsheet step
Add your spreadsheet app as the action, choose the step that adds a row, and map the tag details you saw at test into its columns.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step once and read what came back. When the row in the spreadsheet looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
The ManicTime Cloud trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in ManicTime Cloud. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Tag
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new tag is created.”
Each time someone adds a tag to the ManicTime Cloud account, this trigger hands it to your Zap so another app can record it, announce it or turn it into a to-do. It is the only way into Zapier from ManicTime Cloud.
When it breaks
No help article is attached to ManicTime Cloud on Zapier, and no app-specific limit is on record.
So the cases below are the general Zapier ones that apply to a single polling trigger. If a Zap misbehaves, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.
Old tags never show up
A Zap only reacts to tags created after it is switched on. Tags that already existed are not picked up, and moving them is a separate job.The Zap waits before it runs
New Tag is a polling trigger. On the free plan Zapier checks every 15 minutes, so a new tag reaches the next step on the following check.A bulk import gets held back
When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back. The same tag does not fire twice
Zapier keeps track of the tags it has already seen on a polling trigger, so a tag it already handled will not start the Zap again.
