Overview

What the Masterpages Zapier integration does

Masterpages builds websites and comes with lead capture tools. On Zapier it offers three events, all about leads: one for a single opt-in, two for the two halves of a double opt-in. Zapier receives each lead and passes it to another app, such as your email tool or your CRM. Data only leaves Masterpages; nothing goes back in.

Three things are worth building. A clean email list: Double Optin Lead Confirmed adds a lead to your email tool only after they clicked the confirmation email, so unconfirmed addresses stay out. A reminder for stalled sign-ups: Double Optin Lead Started logs everyone who entered an address, so you can see who never confirmed. A fast lane for simple forms: Single Optin Lead Generated sends leads from forms with no confirmation step straight to your CRM.

What Zapier does not do here: Masterpages has no action and no search. A Zap cannot create a page, edit a form or look up a lead inside Masterpages. Everything happens downstream, in the tools that receive the lead.

The detail to settle first: for a double opt-in form, Started and Confirmed are two separate events for the same person. Pick the one that matches the moment you care about, or the same lead can land twice. If you would rather hand that planning off, see our Zapier agency page.

Vocabulary

Zapier terms, quickly

Eight words this page relies on, one line each.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Masterpages has three, all about leads.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Here it always happens in another app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: it calls Zapier the moment the event happens. All three Masterpages triggers work this way.
Polling trigger
The other kind: Zapier asks the app for new items at a fixed interval, and how often depends on your plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it costs to run

Masterpages is not a premium app: it runs on Zapier's free plan. The trigger never costs a task. Only an action that succeeds, such as a subscriber added in your email tool, is billed.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps each
  • Premium appNo
  • Masterpages triggers3, all instant
  • Trigger costNone, only successful actions count

One lead sent to one tool is one task; a failed action is not counted. On the free plan you get 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger on each plan; it does not apply to the three Masterpages triggers, which are all instant. A few apps and actions take more than one task.

Connect

Connect Masterpages to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open Apps in Zapier

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need a Masterpages account, plus access to any site you do not own yourself.

  2. 02

    Choose Masterpages

Search for Masterpages in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Masterpages side to complete the link with your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Masterpages in that tab and allow Zapier to reach your account. The connection is stored once and reused by every Zap that starts from one of the three lead triggers.

First Zap

Your first Zap: single opt-in leads into a spreadsheet

GoalEach time a Masterpages form with no confirmation step collects a lead, check one condition, then add a row to your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Masterpages as the app that starts it and Single Optin Lead Generated as the event, then choose your Masterpages connection.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent leads from the account, so you map the next steps on a real one. Check at the test which lead details come through.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

From the plus icon, add a Filter and set the field to look at, the rule and the value. Rules are typed: a text rule only works on text. A filter makes the Zap multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet action

Choose your spreadsheet app and its add-a-row action, then map the lead details from the trigger into the columns you want filled.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Run each step once and read what came back. When the row looks right, click Publish. Each lead that passes the filter then costs one task.

Triggers

The 3 Masterpages triggers

3 events start a Zap when something happens in Masterpages, and 3 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Double Optin Lead Confirmed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead completes the double opt-in process. He clicks on the confirmation email and is a double opt-in confirmed lead in Masterpages.”

Fires at the end of a double opt-in, once the person has confirmed their address from the email Masterpages sent them.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
feed your email tool with confirmed addresses only, so your list holds people who proved the address is theirs.
Watch out
leads who never click the confirmation link never reach this trigger, so they stay out of the Zap entirely.
2

Double Optin Lead Started

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead starts the double opt-in process. He enters his email address and receives the confirmation email.”

Reacts to the first half of a double opt-in: someone has left an address on your form and is now asked to confirm it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
log every attempt in a spreadsheet, then compare it with confirmed leads to see how many sign-ups stall halfway.
Watch out
the address is not confirmed yet. Running this and the Confirmed trigger into the same list can add each person twice.
3

Single Optin Lead Generated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is generated through a single opt-in process (no confirmation needed).”

Covers forms with no confirmation step: one submission and the lead exists in Masterpages.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
push leads from a contact or download form straight into your CRM, where follow-up starts.
Watch out
nothing has checked the address, so a mistyped email travels to your other tool as it is. A filter can hold back obvious cases, on a paid plan.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier documents no Masterpages-specific error or limit. What goes wrong comes from how Zapier works.

Four cases to know with three instant lead triggers and no actions. When a run fails and the reason is not clear, start with our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Earlier leads never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Leads collected before stay out; moving them is a separate job.
  • Same person, two entries

Started and Confirmed are two events for one double opt-in lead. Two Zaps writing both into one list can add that person twice.
  • A burst of leads is held back

When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • A Zap that restarts itself

As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and use up tasks fast.

FAQ

Masterpages and Zapier: questions people ask

01Is the Masterpages Zapier integration free?
Yes. Masterpages is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan. That plan includes 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each with two steps: one trigger, one action. Sending each confirmed lead to your email tool fits. The limit shows up when you want a filter, for example to skip some forms, or a second action in the same Zap: it becomes a multi-step Zap and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Masterpages lead use?
One per successful action, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that adds each lead to your email tool uses one task per lead. If the same Zap also added a row to a spreadsheet, each lead would cost two, because every action that succeeds is counted on its own. A failed action is not counted. Watch the double opt-in case: if you build Zaps on both Started and Confirmed, the same person costs tasks twice.
03Are Masterpages triggers real time?
Yes. All three are instant triggers: Masterpages calls Zapier itself when a lead comes in, so the Zap starts straight away, whatever your plan. The polling interval, 15 minutes on the free plan, does not apply to any of them. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. That matters for leads: a confirmed subscriber can get your welcome email without waiting for a check.
04What does it take to connect Masterpages?
A Masterpages account, plus access to any site you do not own and want the Zap to watch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Masterpages and click Add connection. Sign in to Masterpages in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The connection is saved once, and every Zap you build on one of the three lead triggers reuses it without asking you to sign in again.
05Should a double opt-in Zap use Started or Confirmed?
Confirmed, when the lead goes to a mailing list. Double Optin Lead Started fires as soon as a visitor enters an address, before they click the confirmation link; Double Optin Lead Confirmed fires only once they have. If you need both moments, for instance to count how many people never confirm, build two Zaps and send them to different places. Sending both into the same list can add each confirmed person twice.
06What if the Masterpages event you need is missing?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Masterpages today. The three lead triggers here are all of it: no action, no search, nothing hidden. First check whether one of the three already fits, since single opt-in and double opt-in cover different form setups. Then look at the Masterpages page on zapier.com from time to time to see whether the list has changed. And if what you miss is an action, such as editing a form, none of the three will stand in for it: they only report leads.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Masterpages?
Weigh criteria, not a verdict from someone else. On Zapier, Masterpages gives three instant lead triggers, and the free plan covers two-step Zaps, enough to send leads to one tool without paying. Direction is the limit: nothing writes back into Masterpages through Zapier. Before considering another tool, check whether it lists Masterpages, whether it covers both opt-in types, and how it counts a run compared with Zapier's tasks on your plan.
