Overview

What the MemberArea Zapier integration actually does

MemberArea brings memberships, courses, a community, payments and an affiliate program under one roof. Connected to Zapier, it can tell your other tools when something happens to a member, and those tools can act inside MemberArea in return: enroll, tag, register, reward.

Failed payments caught early. Subscription Payment Failed fires when a recurring payment goes past due. Send a reminder or open a ticket, and fewer members drift away without noticing.

Course access that follows the purchase. Enroll Member in Course unlocks a course for a member. Fed by a sale recorded in another checkout, it removes the manual step between payment and access.

Affiliates paid for sales made elsewhere. Register Affiliate Conversion records an outside sale and credits the commission, with an Idempotency Key so a retry does not pay twice.

What Zapier does not do here: six triggers (New Course, New Event, New Group, New Hub, New Product, New Tag) are checked on a timer, not instantly. Assign Role to Member cannot hand out admin or owner ranks. And no Zap picks up what happened before it was switched on.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Eight terms come back across this page. Here they are once, then used without reminders.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger's event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it to happen.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that creates, updates, sends or deletes something for you.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap finished successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, so nothing waits.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, so the steps after it can use what was found.
Connection
Your MemberArea account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that talks to MemberArea.
Cost

What it really costs

MemberArea is not reserved for paid plans: it works on the free plan.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
  • Paid plans onlyFilters, search steps, second actions
  • This appAvailable on the free plan

The trigger never costs a task, and checking for new data costs nothing either. Each action that succeeds counts once, so a three-action Zap uses three times what a one-action Zap does, and a failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each capped at two steps. A second action, a filter or a search step makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.

The grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger on each plan. It applies to the six polling triggers of MemberArea only; the 30 instant ones fire whatever the plan.

Connect

Connect your MemberArea account

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You need an account on MemberArea, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick MemberArea

Type MemberArea in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the MemberArea sign-in page, next to your Zapier window.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to MemberArea in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is then ready, and every Zap step that uses MemberArea reuses it.

First Zap

Your first Zap: rescue a failed subscription payment

GoalWhen a subscription payment fails, MemberArea finds the member and a reminder goes out from your email tool.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and choose MemberArea as the app that starts it. Select the connection you created earlier when Zapier asks which account to use.

  2. 02

    Set the trigger

Pick Subscription Payment Failed as the event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account, so you map on a real failed payment.

  3. 03

    Add the search step

Add MemberArea again and choose Get Member by ID under SEARCH. Map the member identifier from the trigger, if the test shows one, to fetch the full member record.

  4. 04

    Add the email

Add your email tool as the last step and map the member's name and email from the search. Write a short, friendly message asking them to update their payment details.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Run each step once and read what came back. Then click Publish. The search step makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

Triggers

MemberArea triggers: 36 events, 30 instant

36 events start a Zap when something happens in MemberArea, and 30 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Affiliate Commission Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an affiliate commission is created.”

A new commission was recorded for one of your affiliates in MemberArea. It is the first sign that an affiliate brought in money, well before any payout goes out.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
post the news in the chat channel where you follow your affiliate program, or log each commission in a spreadsheet you reconcile with payouts.
Watch out
List Affiliate Commissions, on the search side, can pull the full detail of a commission in a later step if the trigger does not carry everything.
2

Affiliate Payout Paid

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an affiliate payout is marked paid.”

An affiliate payout was marked as paid. This closes the commission cycle: the money owed to the affiliate has gone out and is recorded as such.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send the affiliate a short confirmation with the payout details, or record the payment in your accounting tool so both sides match.
Watch out
only payouts marked paid count; a payout still pending stays invisible to this trigger.
3

Badge Earned

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member earns a community badge.”

A member just earned a community badge, and that moment of recognition starts the Zap. It tells you who takes part in the community, beyond simply logging in.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
share the achievement in your team's chat tool, or tag badge collectors in your email tool so they get a different message from silent members.
4

Course Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member completes a course.”

Fires when a member finishes an entire course, not a single lesson. Course completion is the strongest learning signal the app sends.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
generate a certificate in your document tool, or suggest the next course in an email while the member still feels the satisfaction of finishing.
Watch out
Mark Course Complete for Member exists on the action side; check at the test whether completions made that way also reach this trigger.
5

Dataset Row Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a dataset row is updated.”

A row in one of your MemberArea datasets changed. Datasets are the tables you keep inside the app, and this trigger follows edits to their rows.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
mirror the change into a spreadsheet or a CRM that keeps its own copy of the same records.
Watch out
New rows have their own trigger, New Dataset Row; this one only covers edits to rows that already exist.
6

Event Attendance Recorded

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member is checked in at (attends) an event.”

A member was checked in at an event, which means they actually showed up. It is the difference between people who registered and people who came.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send a follow-up only to those who attended, and a different one to registrants who did not, using New Event Registration for the second list.
7

Form Submitted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a form is submitted, including partial submissions.”

Someone submitted one of your MemberArea forms. Partial submissions count too, so the Zap can start on a form that was only half filled in.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
push form answers into a spreadsheet or a CRM without exporting them by hand.
Watch out
because partial submissions also fire it, check at the test what an incomplete one looks like before mapping fields.
8

Funnel Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a multi-step funnel reaches its final step.”

A multi-step funnel reached its final step. Whoever went through it made it all the way to the end, which makes this a strong buying or sign-up signal.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
hand the person over to your sales follow-up tool, or start a dedicated email sequence for people who finished the funnel.
9

Invoice Paid

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an invoice is issued and paid.”

An invoice was issued and paid. The Zap starts once both have happened, so you are not reacting to invoices still waiting for payment.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send paid invoices to your accounting tool, or notify whoever handles billing.
Watch out
orders have a separate trigger, Order Paid; check at the test which one your sales actually produce.
10

Lesson Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member completes a lesson.”

A member finished one lesson. This is the finest-grained progress signal of the app, one event per lesson rather than per course.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
encourage members between lessons, or record progress in a spreadsheet you use to spot who slows down.
Watch out
on a long course this fires many times per member, and every action you add costs one task each time.
11

Member Field Changed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member custom-field value changes.”

The value of one of a member's custom fields changed. Custom fields are the extra profile details you defined in MemberArea yourself.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
keep the matching field in your CRM in step, so both tools agree on the same member data.
Watch out
as a general precaution, a Zap that writes back into the place its trigger watches can set itself off again.
12

Member Leveled Up

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member reaches a new community level.”

A member reached a new community level. Levels track how far someone has progressed in the community, beyond a single post or badge. It rewards steady participation rather than a single action.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
congratulate the member by email, or unlock a perk in another tool once they reach a level that matters to you.
13

Member Logged In

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member logs in.”

A member logged in to MemberArea. Each login is an event, so it can fire many times for the same member.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
keep a last-seen date in your CRM, or spot members who come back after a long silence.
Watch out
every login is one more run, so watch your task count before adding several actions.
14

New Community Post

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new community post is published.”

A new post was published in your community. The Zap starts on the publication, which is useful when nobody watches the forums all day. Comments on existing posts are not part of it, only new posts.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
notify moderators in your chat tool, so new posts get an answer instead of sitting unread.
15

New Contact

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new audience contact is created.”

A new contact entered your MemberArea audience. Contacts are people you can reach, not necessarily members with an account. Members who sign up have their own trigger, New Member.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
add each contact to your email tool, or to a CRM where sales follow up on people who are not members yet.
16

New Course

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new course is created.”

A new course was created in MemberArea. Unlike most triggers of this app, it is checked by Zapier rather than reported by the app.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
announce the course to your members through your email tool, or list it in a spreadsheet of your catalog.
Watch out
Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen on this trigger, so the same course does not start the Zap twice.
17

New Dataset Row

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a dataset row is created.”

A row was added to one of your datasets. It is the creation counterpart of Dataset Row Updated. Each new row is one event; after a bulk import, Zapier's flood protection can hold back a huge batch.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
copy each new row into a spreadsheet, or feed it to a tool that needs the same records.
18

New Event

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new event is created.”

A new event was created in MemberArea, and Zapier picks it up on its next check. Events here are the ones members register for and attend.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
add the event to a shared calendar, or announce it in your chat tool.
Watch out
only events created after the Zap is switched on are picked up; earlier ones stay out.
19

New Event Registration

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member registers for an event.”

A member registered for an event. The Zap gets the registration, not the attendance, which has its own trigger. Cancellations go the other way and are not reported by this trigger.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send a calendar invitation or a practical reminder through your email tool when someone signs up.
20

New Group

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new group is created.”

A group was created in MemberArea. The check runs on Zapier's side, not on an alert from the app.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
create a matching channel in your chat tool, or log the group in a spreadsheet that tracks your cohorts.
Watch out
like every polling trigger here, it does not start twice on the same group, since Zapier remembers what it has seen.
21

New Hub

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new hub page is created.”

A new hub page was created. This trigger notices each new hub page when Zapier checks. It is one of the six polling triggers of the app.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
announce the new hub to members, or keep an index of hub pages in a spreadsheet.
22

New Inbox Message

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new inbound inbox message arrives.”

An inbound message landed in your MemberArea inbox. Only incoming messages count, not the replies you send.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
alert your team in a chat tool, so someone answers quickly with Reply to Conversation or from the app itself.
Watch out
Update Conversation can then change the status, priority or assignee of that conversation in a later step.
23

New Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is submitted.”

A new lead was submitted in MemberArea. Leads are prospects who left their details, and Update Lead can later change their status or tags using the identifier this trigger provides. Partial lead submissions can be included later through Find Lead and its Include Partial option.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send leads to your CRM or start a nurturing sequence in your email tool.
24

New Member

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new member signs up.”

Someone signed up as a member. This is the moment an audience contact becomes a person with access to your MemberArea.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
start a welcome sequence, add the member to a CRM, or post a hello in your community chat.
Watch out
Get Member by ID can fetch the full record in a later step, which makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
25

New Product

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new product is added to the catalog.”

A product was added to your MemberArea catalog. Zapier checks the catalog on its own schedule rather than hearing from the app.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
list new products in a spreadsheet your team uses for pricing, or announce them to your audience.
Watch out
products already in the catalog before the Zap was switched on are not picked up.
26

New Subscription

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is created.”

A subscription was created in MemberArea. It marks the start of recurring revenue from that member. Renewals and cancellations of that same subscription each have their own trigger, so this one only marks the beginning.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
record new subscriptions in your accounting tool, or start an onboarding sequence reserved for subscribers.
27

New Tag

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new tag is created.”

A tag was created in MemberArea, picked up when Zapier next checks. This is about the tag itself, not about a tag being added to someone.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
create the same tag in your email tool, so both tools share one vocabulary.
Watch out
to react when a member receives a tag, the instant trigger Tag Added to Member is the one to use.
28

New Ticket

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a support ticket is created.”

A support ticket was created. The Zap starts on the new ticket, before anyone has answered it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
copy the ticket into your helpdesk or alert the person on support duty in your chat tool.
Watch out
Add Note to Ticket and Update Ticket can act on that ticket in later steps, which makes the Zap multi-step.
29

Order Paid

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an order is paid.”

An order was paid in MemberArea. It is the money event for purchases, separate from invoices.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
log sales in a spreadsheet, or notify whoever ships or delivers what was bought.
Watch out
Invoice Paid is a different trigger; if both apply to your sales, pick one per Zap to avoid counting twice.
30

Popup Submitted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a visitor interacts with (submits) a popup.”

A visitor submitted one of your popups. The app describes it as an interaction with the popup, and Get Popup Stats reads the totals.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
pass popup sign-ups to your email tool, tagged with the popup they came from.
Watch out
check at the test what a submission carries before mapping fields.
31

Refund Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a refund is issued.”

A refund was issued in MemberArea. The Zap starts once the refund exists, which lets the rest of your tools catch up.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
update your accounting tool, or remove the buyer from a list meant for paying customers.
Watch out
a refund is its own event; Order Paid and Invoice Paid report payments, not refunds.
32

Subscription Cancelled

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is cancelled.”

Cancellation news: the member decided to stop, and this trigger tells your other tools about it. Failed payments are a separate case, with their own trigger, Subscription Payment Failed.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send a short survey asking why, or move the member to a win-back list in your email tool.
33

Subscription Payment Failed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription payment fails (past due).”

A recurring payment failed and the subscription is now past due. This is the trigger that catches involuntary churn before it turns into a cancellation. The subscription is not cancelled yet at this point.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send a friendly reminder to update payment details, or open a ticket for whoever handles billing.
34

Subscription Renewed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription renews (recurring payment).”

A subscription renewed with a recurring payment. Every successful renewal is its own event. New subscriptions are not part of it, only renewals.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
log recurring revenue in a spreadsheet, or thank long-standing members after a renewal.
Watch out
each renewal is one run, and each action costs a task per renewal.
35

Tag Added to Member

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a tag is added to a member.”

One of your tags was just attached to a member. Tags can drive segments, so this trigger is a flexible way to start a Zap on any rule you express with tags. Tags on audience contacts are not covered, only tags on members.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
start a specific email sequence when a member gets the tag that matches it.
36

Tag Removed From Member

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a tag is removed from a member.”

Someone lost a tag: it was detached from a member. It is the mirror of Tag Added to Member.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
stop a sequence or remove the member from a list in another tool when the tag goes away.
Watch out
Delete Tag removes a tag from MemberArea entirely; check at the test whether that also fires this trigger.
Actions

MemberArea actions

MemberArea gives you 68 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Member to Group

Action

In Zapier“Adds a member to a group.”

Puts a member in a group. The Group and the Member ID are required, the latter being the member's identifier.

When to use it
buyers of a given product should join the matching group automatically after their purchase.
Watch out
map the Member ID from a member trigger or from Find Member; typing it by hand is error-prone.
2

Add Tag to Contact

Action

In Zapier“Attaches a tag to an audience contact.”

Labels an audience contact you pick or map by identifier. The Tag is required as well.

When to use it
tag contacts by the source they came from, before they become members.
Watch out
for members, the matching action is Add Tag to Member.
3

Add Tag to Member

Action

In Zapier“Attaches a tag to a member.”

Attaches a tag to a member. You pick the member, or map the id from a member trigger or Find Member.

When to use it
label members by what they did in another tool, like a purchase or a webinar, so segments stay accurate.
Watch out
the Tag must exist first; Create Tag makes it if needed.
4

Add Note to Ticket

Action

In Zapier“Adds an internal note to a support ticket.”

Attaches an internal note to a support ticket. The Ticket and the Note are required, and the note stays internal to your team.

When to use it
context gathered in another tool, like a payment record, should be attached to the ticket for whoever handles it.
Watch out
Find Ticket can locate the ticket first when you only know its status or priority.
5

Assign Member to Affiliate

Action

In Zapier“Assigns a member to an affiliate so future payments credit that affiliate.”

Ties a member to an affiliate, so their future payments credit that affiliate. The Member and the Affiliate Code are required.

When to use it
a referral captured in another tool should be credited in MemberArea's affiliate program.
Watch out
Get Member Affiliate Claim shows whether the member already belongs to someone.
6

Assign Popup to Member

Action

In Zapier“Targets a popup at a member so it shows on their next visit.”

Targets a popup at a specific member, so it shows on their next visit to MemberArea.

When to use it
a member who reaches a milestone should see a tailored message the next time they come back.
Watch out
a new popup starts inactive, and Update Popup is the action that switches it on.
7

Assign Role to Member

Action

In Zapier“Assigns a member role. Admin and owner ranks cannot be assigned via the API.”

Gives a member a role you pick from the list. Admin and owner ranks cannot be assigned from Zapier.

When to use it
promote active members to a moderator role decided in another tool.
Watch out
for admin or owner ranks, someone has to change them by hand inside MemberArea.
8

Award Badge to Member

Action

In Zapier“Awards a community badge to a member.”

Awards a community badge to a member. The Badge and the Member are required.

When to use it
reward something that happens outside MemberArea, like attending an offline event or finishing a challenge.
Watch out
the badge must exist first; Create Community Badge defines it.
9

Cancel Event Registration

Action

In Zapier“Cancels a member's registration for an event.”

Cancels a member's registration for an event, given the Event and the Member.

When to use it
a cancellation request received by email or through a form should free the seat in MemberArea.
Watch out
the member stays a member; only the registration goes.
10

Check in Member at Event

Action

In Zapier“Checks a member in at an event.”

Records a member as present at an event. Event and Member are required.

When to use it
check-ins done at the door with another tool should be recorded in MemberArea for attendance reports.
Watch out
checking someone in does not register them; Register Member for Event is a separate action.
11

Create Community Area

Action

In Zapier“Creates a community area.”

Builds a community area, the top level in which forums live. Only a Name is required.

When to use it
a new program or cohort should get its own space in the community, set up from your planning tool.
Watch out
forums come next, with Create Community Forum, which needs this area to exist first.
12

Create Community Badge

Action

In Zapier“Creates a community badge.”

Defines a new community badge by Name, ready to be awarded to members later.

When to use it
badges planned in a document or a spreadsheet should exist in MemberArea before members start earning them.
Watch out
awarding it is a separate step, done with Award Badge to Member.
13

Create Community Comment

Action

In Zapier“Adds a comment to a community post.”

Writes a comment under a community post, identified by its Post ID, with the Content you provide.

When to use it
reply automatically with useful links when a new post matches a filter you set, on a paid plan.
Watch out
the Post ID is an identifier, so map it from a trigger or a previous step rather than typing it.
14

Create Community Forum

Action

In Zapier“Creates a forum inside a community area.”

Adds a forum inside an existing community area. You give the Area and a Name, both required.

When to use it
each new topic decided in your planning spreadsheet should appear as a forum without manual setup.
Watch out
the area must exist first; Create Community Area can come earlier in the same Zap on a paid plan.
15

Create Community Post

Action

In Zapier“Publishes a post in a community forum.”

Publishes a post in a community forum. The Forum and the Content are required, and the post goes live in that forum.

When to use it
share announcements written in another tool, like a new course or an upcoming event, directly in the community.
Watch out
the Forum must already exist; Create Community Forum makes one if needed.
16

Create Contact

Action

In Zapier“Adds a contact to your audience. Provide at least an email or a first name.”

Adds a person to your audience as a contact, without giving them a member account. You need at least an email or a first name for it to go through.

When to use it
leads collected in another form tool should land in MemberArea's audience before they ever become members.
Watch out
a contact is not a member; to open a member account, Create Member is the action.
17

Create Dataset Row

Action

In Zapier“Adds a row to a dataset.”

Adds a row to one of your datasets. You pick the Dataset, then fill the row's values from earlier steps.

When to use it
records kept in a spreadsheet or in another app should also exist as dataset rows inside MemberArea.
Watch out
check at the test which columns the chosen dataset expects before mapping anything.
18

Create Global Field

Action

In Zapier“Creates a business-wide global field whose value is available as a placeholder across emails and pages.”

Creates a business-wide global field, whose value can be used as a placeholder in your emails and pages. Name and Type are required.

When to use it
you want a new placeholder, like a seasonal offer, created and managed from outside the app.
Watch out
once it exists, Set Global Field Value is the lighter action to keep its value current.
19

Create Group

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new group.”

Opens a brand-new group in MemberArea. Name is the only required field, so the step is quick to set up.

When to use it
each new cohort or class planned in your spreadsheet should get its own group without someone creating it by hand.
Watch out
Add Member to Group can follow in the same Zap, on a paid plan, to fill it straight away.
20

Create Member

Action

In Zapier“Adds a new member to your MemberArea.”

Adds a new member to your MemberArea from three required fields: First Name, Last Name and Email. The person gets a member account, not just a place in your audience.

When to use it
a purchase or a sign-up recorded in another tool should open a MemberArea account without anyone copying details by hand.
Watch out
the app suggests running Find Member first, so you do not create the same person twice.
21

Create Popup

Action

In Zapier“Creates a popup. It starts inactive: add at least one element before activating it.”

Creates a popup from a Name. It starts inactive, so add at least one element before switching it on.

When to use it
a campaign planned in another tool should prepare its popup in MemberArea ahead of launch.
Watch out
activating it later takes Update Popup, and that also needs one element at least.
22

Create Tag

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new tag.”

Creates a tag by name, ready to be attached to members or contacts later. The tag exists on its own until something uses it.

When to use it
keep MemberArea's tag list aligned with tags created in your email tool, so segments mean the same thing in both places.
Watch out
creating the tag does not attach it to anyone; Add Tag to Member or Add Tag to Contact does that.
23

Create Ticket

Action

In Zapier“Creates an internal support ticket.”

Opens an internal support ticket in MemberArea. Title is the only field it insists on, the rest is optional detail you can map.

When to use it
a request arriving by email or through another form should become a ticket your team can track inside the app.
Watch out
Add Note to Ticket can attach internal context to it in a later step, on a paid plan.
24

Custom API Request

Action

In Zapier“Makes a raw authenticated call to any MemberArea API v1 endpoint. Use this to reach endpoints that do not yet have a dedicated action.”

Sends a raw authenticated request to MemberArea, for anything that has no dedicated action yet. Method and Path are required.

When to use it
you need something none of the dedicated actions offer.
Watch out
this one is technical: it expects the exact path, like /inbox/labels, and returns raw data.
25

Delete Community Area

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a community area.”

Removes a whole community area, picked from the list.

When to use it
a closed program should take its community space with it.
Watch out
deleting a whole area is a large change; check at the test which area is mapped before publishing.
26

Delete Community Badge

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a community badge.”

Retires a badge for good, identified by its Badge ID.

When to use it
badges from a past challenge should no longer appear in your community.
Watch out
to take a badge from one member only, use Revoke Badge From Member.
27

Delete Community Comment

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a community comment.”

Removes one comment from a post, given its Comment ID.

When to use it
comments that a moderation rule in another tool flagged as spam should disappear from the community.
Watch out
the post under which it sat is left untouched.
28

Delete Community Forum

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a community forum.”

Drops a forum from your community, picked from the list of forums.

When to use it
remove forums retired in your community plan, so members are not lost in empty spaces.
Watch out
the area that held it stays in place.
29

Delete Community Post

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a community post.”

Takes down a single post, identified by its Post ID.

When to use it
a post flagged by your moderation process in another tool should come down without someone hunting for it.
Watch out
map the Post ID from New Community Post or another earlier step.
30

Delete Contact

Action

In Zapier“Deletes an audience contact.”

Erases an audience contact you pick or map by identifier.

When to use it
a deletion request received elsewhere should also clear the contact from MemberArea, so your lists stay consistent.
Watch out
this erases the whole contact; to take off just a label, Remove Tag From Contact is enough.
31

Delete Dataset Row

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a row from a dataset.”

Removes a row from a dataset; both the Dataset and the Row are required.

When to use it
a record deleted from your spreadsheet should also leave the dataset, so both stay in step.
Watch out
map the row identifier from a trigger or an earlier step.
32

Delete Global Field

Action

In Zapier“Permanently deletes a global field.”

Permanently deletes a global field, picked or mapped by identifier.

When to use it
a placeholder used only for a finished campaign should go away once the campaign closes.
Watch out
check first that no email or page still uses it.
33

Delete Group

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a group.”

Gets rid of a group; the Group is the only field to fill.

When to use it
archived cohorts in your planning tool should disappear from MemberArea too, rather than pile up.
Watch out
check at the test what the group is used for before deleting it.
34

Remove Member

Action

In Zapier“Removes a member from your MemberArea (the underlying user account is preserved).”

Removes a member from your MemberArea while the underlying user account is kept. Only the Member is required.

When to use it
a member asking to leave through your support form should be removed without anyone logging in.
Watch out
because the user account survives, this is not a full data deletion.
35

Delete Popup

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a popup.”

Clears a popup you pick or map from your MemberArea.

When to use it
a campaign that ended in your calendar should clean up its popup automatically.
Watch out
to keep it for later, switch it off with Update Popup instead.
36

Delete Tag

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a tag.”

Wipes a tag from MemberArea entirely, not just from one person.

When to use it
clean up tags retired in your email tool, so the two lists stay identical.
Watch out
to take a tag off one member only, Remove Tag From Member is the right action.
37

Delete Ticket

Action

In Zapier“Deletes a support ticket.”

Throws away a support ticket you pick or map by identifier.

When to use it
test tickets or spam created by another automation should not clutter the list your team works from.
Watch out
to keep the history, Update Ticket may be the safer choice.
38

Enroll Member in Course

Action

In Zapier“Grants a member access to a course.”

Grants a member access to a course you pick or map by identifier. Both Course and Member are required.

When to use it
a purchase recorded in another checkout tool should unlock the course in MemberArea straight after payment.
Watch out
Find Member by Email is the usual partner when the sale only carries an email.
39

Mark Course Complete for Member

Action

In Zapier“Marks an entire course as completed for a member.”

Validates a whole course for a member in one go, with Member and Course both required.

When to use it
a member who passed an exam elsewhere should see the entire course marked as completed.
Watch out
check at the test whether this also starts Course Completed, before combining the two.
40

Mark Lesson Complete for Member

Action

In Zapier“Marks a single lesson as completed for a member.”

Marks one lesson as completed for a member. Course, Lesson and Member are all required, and the lesson is picked from the course selected above it.

When to use it
a live session followed outside the app should count as done in the course.
Watch out
choose the course first, or the lesson list stays empty.
41

Redeem Member Reward

Action

In Zapier“Consumes part of a member's redeemable affiliate reward balance.”

Spends part of a member's redeemable affiliate reward balance. The Amount is in minor units, so 500 means 5.00 EUR, and an Idempotency Key of 8 to 100 characters is required.

When to use it
a member uses their reward in another shop or tool, and the balance should drop in MemberArea.
Watch out
read the balance first with Get Member Reward Balance.
42

Register Affiliate Conversion

Action

In Zapier“Records an external sale and credits affiliate commissions.”

Records a sale made outside MemberArea and credits the affiliate commissions. Affiliate Code, Amount in minor units, Currency and an Idempotency Key are required; a Test Mode option exists.

When to use it
sales from another checkout should still pay your affiliates.
Watch out
the Idempotency Key must be a stable unique identifier between 8 and 100 characters, the same for a retried conversion.
43

Register Member for Event

Action

In Zapier“Registers a member for an event.”

Signs a member up for an event you pick or map. Event and Member are both required.

When to use it
people who sign up through a form outside MemberArea should appear as registered for the event.
Watch out
Cancel Event Registration undoes it if the person drops out.
44

Remove Affiliate Claim

Action

In Zapier“Removes a member's affiliate claim.”

Removes a member's affiliate claim, so they are no longer tied to any affiliate. Only the Member is required.

When to use it
correct a wrong attribution flagged by your team in another tool.
Watch out
check at the test how later payments are credited.
45

Remove Member From Group

Action

In Zapier“Removes a member from a group.”

Takes a member out of a group, given the Group and the Member ID. The member keeps their account.

When to use it
a member whose subscription ends should leave the subscriber-only group without anyone noticing it late.
Watch out
Subscription Cancelled is the natural trigger for this step.
46

Remove Tag From Contact

Action

In Zapier“Detaches a tag from an audience contact.”

Strips a tag off an audience contact, given the Contact and the Tag.

When to use it
a contact who unsubscribes from a topic in your email tool should lose the matching tag in MemberArea.
Watch out
Find Contact can supply the contact when you only have an email.
47

Remove Tag From Member

Action

In Zapier“Detaches a tag from a member.”

Detaches a tag from a member, with the Member and the Tag both required.

When to use it
a member leaves a segment once a condition tracked elsewhere is no longer true.
Watch out
removing a tag the member does not have is worth checking at the test before you rely on it.
48

Reply to Conversation

Action

In Zapier“Sends an outbound message on an inbox conversation's channel.”

Sends an outbound message on the channel of an inbox conversation. The Conversation and the Message are required, and you can mark the conversation as done in the same step.

When to use it
answer recurring questions with a prepared reply, then close the conversation.
Watch out
the message goes to a real person, so read the mapped text closely at the test.
49

Reset Course Progress for Member

Action

In Zapier“Resets a member's progress in a course back to zero.”

Sets a member's progress in a course back to zero, with Member and Course required.

When to use it
a member retakes a course from the start, at their request logged in another tool.
Watch out
the reset covers the whole course, so double-check the mapping at the test.
50

Revoke Badge From Member

Action

In Zapier“Revokes a community badge from a member.”

Takes a community badge back from a member, given the Badge and the Member.

When to use it
a badge tied to an active subscription should disappear when the subscription is cancelled.
Watch out
the badge itself stays in your community; only this member loses it.
51

Set Global Field Value

Action

In Zapier“Sets only the value of a global field. Ideal for pushing an external value into a placeholder used across your emails and pages.”

Sets only the value of a global field. The app presents it as the way to push an outside value into a placeholder used across emails and pages.

When to use it
a figure kept in another tool, like a seats-left count, should appear in your MemberArea pages.
Watch out
the field has to exist; Create Global Field makes it if needed.
52

Set Member Custom Field

Action

In Zapier“Sets a member's value for a custom field.”

Writes one member's value for one custom field. Both the Member and the Custom Field are required.

When to use it
a score or a status computed in another tool should land in the member's MemberArea profile.
Watch out
for a member's regular details rather than a custom field, Update Member is the action.
53

Trigger Automation

Action

In Zapier“Starts a run of a published automation with an optional payload.”

Starts a run of one of your published MemberArea automations, with an optional payload of data.

When to use it
let an event in another tool start a workflow you already built inside MemberArea.
Watch out
the automation must be published; Find Automation can locate it by name first.
54

Unenroll Member From Course

Action

In Zapier“Revokes a member's access to a course.”

Revokes a member's access to a course, with Course and Member both required.

When to use it
a refund recorded in your payment tool should remove access to the course that was bought.
Watch out
Enroll Member in Course gives the access back if needed.
55

Update Community Area

Action

In Zapier“Updates a community area.”

Edits a community area you pick from the list, the top-level space that holds your forums.

When to use it
area names or descriptions are managed in a planning tool and should follow it when a program is renamed.
Watch out
the Area field is the only required one; check at the test which details can change.
56

Update Community Badge

Action

In Zapier“Updates a community badge.”

Changes an existing badge, identified by its Badge ID.

When to use it
badge names or descriptions are maintained in another tool and should stay in step with it.
Watch out
check at the test which badge details can be changed.
57

Update Community Comment

Action

In Zapier“Updates a community comment's content.”

Rewrites the content of a community comment, given its Comment ID and the new Content.

When to use it
correct an automatic comment posted earlier by another Zap without deleting it and losing its place.
Watch out
the Comment ID is an identifier, so map it from a previous step.
58

Update Community Forum

Action

In Zapier“Updates a community forum (rename, edit, or move to another area).”

Renames or edits a forum, and can also move it to another area of the community.

When to use it
reorganize your community structure from a spreadsheet when a program changes shape.
Watch out
moving a forum changes where members find it, so warn them first.
59

Update Community Post

Action

In Zapier“Updates a community post's content.”

Replaces the content of a community post, identified by its Post ID. Content is required too.

When to use it
keep a pinned announcement up to date when the source text changes elsewhere, without reposting.
Watch out
the new content replaces the old one; keep a copy if you may need it.
60

Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Updates an audience contact's details.”

Changes an audience contact's details, for a contact you pick in the list or map by its identifier.

When to use it
a contact who corrects their details in another tool should see the same correction in MemberArea.
Watch out
contacts and members are different records; for members, use Update Member.
61

Update Conversation

Action

In Zapier“Changes an inbox conversation's status, priority or assignee.”

Moves an inbox conversation to another status, changes its priority or hands it to a different assignee.

When to use it
route conversations to the right person based on a rule you keep in another tool, without opening the inbox.
Watch out
the Conversation field is required; Find Conversation can supply it in an earlier step.
62

Update Dataset Row

Action

In Zapier“Updates a row in a dataset (merges the provided data).”

Changes a row in a dataset by merging the data you provide into what is already there. Dataset and Row are required.

When to use it
a change recorded in a spreadsheet should be pushed into the matching dataset row.
Watch out
merging means fields you leave out keep their current value; check it at the test.
63

Update Global Field

Action

In Zapier“Updates a global field's name, value or description.”

Changes a global field's name, value or description in one step.

When to use it
you want to rename a placeholder or rewrite its description, not just its value, from outside the app.
Watch out
to change only the value, Set Global Field Value is simpler.
64

Update Group

Action

In Zapier“Renames a group.”

Renames a group. It needs the Group and the new Name, nothing else, which keeps it simple.

When to use it
group names follow a naming rule kept in another tool, and you want them corrected in one place.
Watch out
only the name changes; members of the group stay where they are.
65

Update Lead

Action

In Zapier“Updates a lead's status or tags.”

Changes a lead's status or tags. You can map the lead identifier straight from the New Lead trigger, or pick the lead.

When to use it
a lead qualified in your CRM should have its status updated in MemberArea, so both lists agree.
Watch out
starting from an email instead of an identifier, put Find Lead first.
66

Update Member

Action

In Zapier“Updates an existing member's details.”

Edits an existing member's details. Pick the member, or map the id from a member trigger or from the Find Member search.

When to use it
profile changes made in your CRM should reach MemberArea too, so both tools hold the same information.
Watch out
without a member id from an earlier step, put Find Member before this action.
67

Update Popup

Action

In Zapier“Updates a popup. Set Status to true to activate (requires at least one element).”

Updates a popup. Setting the status to true activates it, which requires at least one element in the popup.

When to use it
switch a popup on or off from your campaign calendar, without logging into MemberArea.
Watch out
the Retroactive option exists; check at the test what it changes before using it.
68

Update Ticket

Action

In Zapier“Updates a support ticket.”

Updates a support ticket you pick or map by its identifier, so its state matches what happened elsewhere.

When to use it
a ticket resolved in your helpdesk should be updated in MemberArea so both show the same state.
Watch out
check at the test which ticket details can be changed.
Searches

MemberArea searches

23 search steps look for data that already exists in MemberArea, so a later step can use it.

A search step finds a member, a contact, a lead or a record that already exists, so the next step can act on it. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list under SEARCH, and some fields offer + Add search step to insert one for you. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not clean.

1

Find Automation

Search

In Zapier“Finds an automation by name.”

Locates an automation by its name, so a later step can start it without you picking it from a list.

When to use it
right before Trigger Automation, when you want to refer to the automation by name rather than select it by hand.
Watch out
the name has to match; check at the test what counts as a match.
2

Find Affiliate Commission

Search

In Zapier“Lists affiliate commissions, optionally filtered by affiliate code.”

Brings back affiliate commissions, and can narrow the list to a single affiliate code.

When to use it
check what an affiliate earned before sending them a summary or a thank-you message.
Watch out
for status or test-mode filters and full detail, List Affiliate Commissions goes further.
3

Find Contact

Search

In Zapier“Finds an audience contact by email or name.”

Looks up an audience contact by email or name; that one field is required.

When to use it
you have an email from another tool and need the contact before Add Tag to Contact or Update Contact.
Watch out
for member accounts rather than contacts, Find Member is the search to use.
4

Find Conversation

Search

In Zapier“Finds inbox conversations, optionally filtered by status.”

Retrieves inbox conversations, with an optional status to narrow them down.

When to use it
before Reply to Conversation or Update Conversation, to act on the right thread.
Watch out
several conversations can match; the multiple-results setting decides which one goes on.
5

Find Global Field

Search

In Zapier“Finds a global field by name and returns its current value.”

Searches for a global field by name and hands back its current value.

When to use it
read a placeholder's value to reuse it in a message sent from another tool.
Watch out
when you already know the field, Get Global Field skips the name search.
6

Find Lead

Search

In Zapier“Finds leads, optionally filtered by status, tag or submission date.”

Pulls leads from MemberArea, with optional narrowing by status, by tag or by the date they were submitted. An Include Partial option exists for incomplete submissions.

When to use it
before Update Lead when you start from an email rather than a lead identifier.
Watch out
several leads can match, so set the multiple-results option on purpose.
7

Find Member

Search

In Zapier“Finds a member by email address (or name). Pair with Create Member for a find-or-create step.”

Finds a member by email address, or by name. The app suggests pairing it with Create Member for a find-or-create step.

When to use it
nearly every member action needs a member; this is how you get one from an email.
Watch out
a name search can match several people, so prefer the email when you have it.
8

Find Member by Email

Search

In Zapier“Finds a single member by exact email address. Pair with Create Member for a find-or-create step.”

Returns one member whose email matches exactly; the Email field is required.

When to use it
when you want an exact match on email rather than a looser name search.
Watch out
a single difference in the address means no result, so check the no-result setting.
9

Find Order

Search

In Zapier“Finds orders, optionally filtered by status. Returns the most recent matches.”

Finds orders, optionally filtered by status, and returns the most recent matches.

When to use it
look up a member's latest order before writing to them about it, or before granting something tied to it.
Watch out
only recent matches come back, so it is not a full order history.
10

Find Popup

Search

In Zapier“Finds a popup by name.”

Locates a popup from its name.

When to use it
before Assign Popup to Member or Update Popup, when you know the popup by its name and not by identifier.
Watch out
the search depends on the name as it currently reads in MemberArea.
11

Find Product

Search

In Zapier“Finds products, optionally filtered by type.”

Searches your catalog for products, with an optional filter on product type.

When to use it
fetch product details to include in a message or a spreadsheet row about a sale.
Watch out
products are also watched by New Product, a polling trigger.
12

Find Subscription

Search

In Zapier“Finds subscriptions, optionally filtered by status.”

Returns subscriptions, and can keep only those with a given status.

When to use it
check whether a member still has an active subscription before granting a perk or access.
Watch out
several subscriptions can match, so set the multiple-results option deliberately.
13

Find Ticket

Search

In Zapier“Finds support tickets, optionally filtered by status or priority.”

Brings up support tickets, which you can narrow down to one status or one priority level.

When to use it
before Add Note to Ticket or Update Ticket, to work on the right ticket.
Watch out
without filters, many tickets can match; the multiple-results setting decides what goes on.
14

Get Member Affiliate Claim

Search

In Zapier“Looks up which affiliate a member is assigned to, if any. Returns nothing if unclaimed.”

Looks up which affiliate a member is assigned to. It returns nothing if the member is unclaimed.

When to use it
before Assign Member to Affiliate, to avoid overwriting an existing attribution.
Watch out
with the default setting, an unclaimed member stops the Zap here; switch on the no-result option if that is expected.
15

List Affiliate Commissions

Search

In Zapier“Lists affiliate commissions, optionally filtered by status, affiliate code or test mode. Returns the most recent matches with full commission detail.”

Lists affiliate commissions with full detail, optionally filtered by status, affiliate code or test mode.

When to use it
build an affiliate report, leaving Is Test unset to include every commission.
Watch out
it returns the most recent matches, not the whole history.
16

Get Contact by ID

Search

In Zapier“Fetches a full audience contact by its UUID.”

Pulls the full record of an audience contact from its identifier.

When to use it
a previous step gave you only the contact identifier and you need the rest of the record.
Watch out
it needs an identifier; with an email, use Find Contact.
17

List Course Members

Search

In Zapier“Lists members enrolled in a course, with their progress.”

Lists the members enrolled in a course, with their progress. Course is required.

When to use it
prepare a progress report for a course, or find members who have not started.
Watch out
it returns several members at once, so set the multiple-results option to pass them all on if needed.
18

Get Global Field

Search

In Zapier“Reads a single global field and its current value.”

Reads one global field and its current value, picked or mapped by identifier.

When to use it
you already know which field you want and do not need a name search.
Watch out
Find Global Field is the alternative when you only know its name.
19

Get Lead by ID

Search

In Zapier“Fetches a full lead, including its raw data and UTM payload.”

Fetches a complete lead, including its raw data and its UTM details, the campaign markers that say where a visitor came from.

When to use it
send a lead's campaign source to your CRM.
Watch out
it needs the lead identifier, which New Lead provides.
20

Get Member by ID

Search

In Zapier“Fetches a full member record by its UUID.”

Retrieves the whole member record behind an identifier.

When to use it
a trigger gave you the member id and you need their complete profile for the next step.
Watch out
with only an email, Find Member by Email is the right search.
21

List Member Course Progress

Search

In Zapier“Lists every course a member is enrolled in, with progress.”

Lists every course a member is enrolled in, with the progress reached in each one.

When to use it
summarise a member's learning in an email or a CRM note.
Watch out
the Member field is required, picked or mapped by identifier.
22

Get Popup Stats

Search

In Zapier“Reads impression and interaction statistics for a popup.”

Reads impression and interaction statistics for a popup you pick or map.

When to use it
copy popup performance into a reporting spreadsheet, so campaign results sit next to your other figures.
Watch out
it reads numbers, it does not change the popup.
23

Get Member Reward Balance

Search

In Zapier“Looks up a member's redeemable affiliate reward balance per currency (minor units).”

Looks up a member's redeemable affiliate reward balance, per currency and in minor units.

When to use it
right before Redeem Member Reward, to check there is enough to spend.
Watch out
minor units means cents: 500 is 5.00 in the currency.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and the steps that need it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap continues without a result.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking this turns a search into a find-or-create: it drops the setting above and asks for the fields needed to create the missing item.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier links no help article to MemberArea, so the cases below come from Zapier's general limits and from what the operations say about themselves.

The tricky cases here are Zaps that run but do too much or too little. Check these six before you publish; for anything else, see our Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • Past events are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Members, orders and courses that already existed stay out; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that restarts itself

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and burn through your task count.
  • A bulk import is held back

After a bulk import or a migration, a trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
  • Six triggers wait for a check

New Course, New Event, New Group, New Hub, New Product and New Tag are polling triggers: Zapier checks them on your plan's interval and skips what it already saw.
  • Admin roles are off limits

Assign Role to Member cannot give admin or owner ranks. Those changes have to be made by hand inside MemberArea.
  • A popup that never shows

Create Popup makes an inactive popup. Activating it takes at least one element, so Update Popup cannot switch on an empty one.

FAQ

MemberArea Zapier FAQ

01Is the MemberArea Zapier integration free?
Yes. MemberArea is not reserved for paid plans, so it runs on Zapier's free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you want, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. New Member feeding a welcome sequence fits within it. A filter, a search step such as Find Member, or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a MemberArea Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds. Triggers and the checks behind them are free, and a failed action is not counted. A Zap that enrolls a buyer in a course uses one task per purchase. Add a tag and a group, and the same purchase costs three. Triggers like Member Logged In or Lesson Completed fire on every login or lesson, so they weigh most on your quota. Count your active members before adding steps.
03Do MemberArea triggers start the Zap instantly?
Thirty of the 36 do. Those instant triggers are reported by MemberArea itself, so the Zap starts straight away on every plan. The other six, New Course, New Event, New Group, New Hub, New Product and New Tag, are polling triggers: Zapier checks them on your plan's interval, every 15 minutes on the free plan, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team and Enterprise. Member, payment and learning events are all instant.
04What does connecting MemberArea to Zapier require?
An account on MemberArea, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search MemberArea, click Add connection, sign in in the new tab and grant access. Before building, create the courses, groups, events, badges or tags your actions will use, since many of them are required fields. Once linked, the connection serves every MemberArea Zap.
05Why does the same affiliate sale get credited twice?
Because Register Affiliate Conversion relies on its Idempotency Key to recognise a repeat. The key must be a stable unique identifier between 8 and 100 characters, and the same for the same sale. If your Zap generates a new value each time, a retried step looks like a new sale. Map an identifier that comes from the original order instead. Redeem Member Reward works the same way for reward redemptions.
06What if the MemberArea operation is missing?
Check the MemberArea page on Zapier first: it shows the current list, 127 operations at the time of writing. If none fits, Custom API Request can reach parts of MemberArea that have no dedicated action, but it is a technical step that expects an exact path and returns raw data. Another route is Trigger Automation, which starts an automation you build inside MemberArea itself. And a search step, such as Find Member or Get Member by ID, can fetch the value a trigger did not carry.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for MemberArea?
Decide on criteria, not on a winner. Coverage first: on Zapier, MemberArea brings 127 operations, so check that the specific triggers and actions you rely on exist on the other platform. Then trigger type: 30 of the 36 triggers here are instant, the other six depend on your plan's interval. Finally volume: Zapier bills every successful action, and active communities generate many events, so estimate them before choosing. None of these criteria names a winner on its own.
