Overview

What the Merci facteur Pro Zapier integration does

Merci facteur Pro sends physical mail through La Poste: letters, postcards, photos, registered mail. On Zapier it only acts. A Zap (an automation on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens) starts in another app, and Merci facteur Pro does the posting, the address work or the status check.

Three results fit well. A welcome letter that leaves on its own: when a deal is won in your CRM, Send Mail generates the letter, which is printed, posted and deducted from your account quota. An address book that follows your CRM: Create Address stores a new recipient and Update Address corrects one, so nobody retypes postal details. A status column that stays current: Get Shipment Tracking returns the tracking and state of the mails in a shipment, ready to drop into a spreadsheet.

Now what Zapier does not do here. Merci facteur Pro has no trigger at all, so it never starts a Zap by itself: no event fires when a letter is delivered or a shipment changes state. Every status check is an action you call from another trigger, and every action that succeeds counts as a task, lookups included. There is no search step either, so finding a user ID goes through Get User Id, an action like any other.

Vocabulary

Zapier words used on this page

Seven terms, explained once in plain English, then used as is.

Zap
An automation built on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. Merci facteur Pro has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something, such as posting a letter.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. Each action your Zap completes successfully counts as one task on your plan.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app right away. It only concerns the other app here.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it really costs

Merci facteur Pro is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger, which sits in another app, costs nothing.

  • Trigger (other app)No task
  • Successful action1 task each
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each Merci facteur Pro action that succeeds counts as one task, including the read-only ones such as Get Mail Price or Get User Id. A failed action is not counted. A three-action Zap uses three times what a one-action Zap does. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps, so a mail merge in three steps already needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to the other app's trigger when it polls; Merci facteur Pro has no trigger of its own.

Connect

Connect Merci facteur Pro to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Merci facteur Pro account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Merci facteur Pro

Search for Merci facteur Pro in the dialog that opens, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Merci facteur Pro side.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Merci facteur Pro in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. From then on, every Zap using Merci facteur Pro reuses that same connection.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a welcome letter for every won deal

GoalWhen a deal is marked won in your CRM, Merci facteur Pro stores the client's address, then prints and posts a welcome letter to it.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Start a Zap and pick your CRM as the trigger app, with its event for a won deal. Test it so you have a real deal, with a real postal address, to map from.

  2. 02

    Store the address

Add Merci facteur Pro with Create Address. Fill the user ID, the address type (recipient), postal code, city and country. The country must be in full uppercase, such as FRANCE.

  3. 03

    Add the letter

Add a second Merci facteur Pro action, Send Mail. Set the user ID, the sending mode, the sender and the recipient. Check at the test what each field expects and what the previous step returned.

  4. 04

    Test with care

Zapier's test runs each step once, and the app warns that Send Mail generates a mail that is deducted, printed and posted. So treat this test as a possible real letter: use an address you control, or contact Merci facteur Pro to cancel it.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With two actions it is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan, and each won deal costs two tasks.

Actions

Merci facteur Pro actions

Merci facteur Pro gives you 22 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Delete Address

Action

In Zapier“WARNING ! This operation cannot be undone. Deletes an address from your account.”

Removes an address from your account for good, from its address ID. The ID comes from Create Address or List Addresses.

When to use it
a contact is deleted from your CRM and must not receive mail again.
Watch out
the deletion cannot be undone.
2

Delete Mail

Action

In Zapier“WARNING ! This operation cannot be undone ! Following the status of a mail, you're request to cancel a mail could be : rejected instantly, rejected after a short period of time, partially rejected (mail cancelled but still charged partially) Fully Accepted (mail cancelled and nothing charged).”

Asks to cancel a mail from its shipment ID. Depending on where the mail stands, the request can be rejected, partially accepted (cancelled but partly charged) or fully accepted with nothing charged.

When to use it
an order is cancelled in another tool and the letter should not go.
Watch out
it cannot be undone.
3

Delete User

Action

In Zapier“WARNING ! This operation cannot be undone. It won't delete the user's adress' or letters, they will stille be available on your Merci Facteur Pro account.”

Deletes a user from their ID. The user's addresses and letters are kept and remain available on your Merci facteur Pro account.

When to use it
someone leaves and their user should disappear from the list.
Watch out
this cannot be undone, so keep it away from any test Zap.
4

Get Address Details

Action

In Zapier“Returns the details of an address from it's ID.”

Returns the details of addresses from their IDs, up to 50 at a time. Handy when a later step needs the full postal address and you only hold an ID.

When to use it
writing a readable address into a spreadsheet or a CRM note.
Watch out
past 50 IDs, split the request.
5

Get Shipment Mails

Action

In Zapier“Returns the list of mails in a precised shipment”

Lists the mails contained in one shipment, from its shipment ID. A mailing becomes a set of individual letters you can log one by one.

When to use it
after a mail merge, to record which letters it produced.
Watch out
the shipment ID is required, so keep it from the step that sent the mailing.
6

Get Mail Price

Action

In Zapier“Returns the price of a mail depending on specified parameters. (not needed to send a mail)”

Returns the price of a mail from its parameters: sending mode, card format, paper, corner, number of pages and number of photos, all required. It is not needed to send a mail.

When to use it
showing a cost estimate in another tool before deciding.
Watch out
every parameter must be filled.
7

Get Account Quota Details

Action

In Zapier“Returns the number of shipment still available for an account this month.”

Tells you how many shipments the account can still send this month. Pair it with a filter to stop a Zap before it tries to post beyond what is left.

When to use it
ahead of a large mailing.
Watch out
the check itself is an action and counts as a task.
8

Get Shipment Tracking

Action

In Zapier“Returns the tracking and the state of mails in a precised shipment”

Returns the tracking and state of the mails in one shipment. Since the app has no trigger, this is the only way for a Zap to learn where a letter stands.

When to use it
updating a status column from a trigger in another app.
Watch out
nothing calls it for you; another trigger must start the check.
9

Get User Id

Action

In Zapier“Get the ID of a user using it's email adress. You can use this function less if you store your IDs locally.”

Returns a user's ID from their email address. Many other actions need that ID, and this is how a Zap gets it without you copying it by hand.

When to use it
once, to note the ID, or in a Zap where the user changes from run to run.
Watch out
storing the ID yourself saves a task on every run.
10

List Addresses

Action

In Zapier“Returns the list of addresses on your account.”

Lists the addresses of one user, filtered by type: sender (exp) or recipient (dest). Both the user ID and the type are required.

When to use it
checking which sender addresses exist before choosing one for Send Mail.
Watch out
it is an action, so each run costs a task.
11

List Shipments

Action

In Zapier“Returns a list of the last 50 shipments of a defined user.”

Returns the last 50 shipments of a given user. Good for a quick overview of recent sending activity in another tool.

When to use it
a report or a dashboard needs the latest shipments.
Watch out
the list stops at 50, and the user ID is required.
12

List Errors

Action

In Zapier“Get the list of error the API can return”

Returns the list of errors the Merci facteur Pro service can send back. It is reference material rather than a step for everyday Zaps.

When to use it
building error handling, to know which messages to expect.
Watch out
each call is still a task, so run it once rather than in a live Zap.
13

Open Support Ticket

Action

In Zapier“Opens a Support Ticket. We'll be pleased to help you !”

Opens a ticket with Merci facteur Pro support, with a service name, an email, a subject and a message text, all required.

When to use it
a problem reported in your own tool should reach the Merci facteur Pro team without retyping it.
Watch out
a filter keeps the Zap from opening a ticket for every routine event.
14

Send Mail

Action

In Zapier“WARNING ! This operation generates a mail which will be deducted from your account's quota, printed and posted. If you're running tests, please contact us to cancel your mail.”

Generates a mail that is deducted from your quota, printed and posted. You choose the user, the sender, the recipient and the sending mode: normal, suivi, lrar, lrare, ere_otp_mail or ere_otp_sms.

When to use it
any event in another app that should end in a letter.
Watch out
the app warns that a test mail should be cancelled by contacting Merci facteur Pro, so a Zapier test of this step may post a real letter.
15

Send Publipostage

Action

In Zapier“Last step for the process of sending Publipostage using Merci Facteur Pro”

Last step of the three-step mail merge: it sends the prepared mailing with a shipment ID, a sender ID and a sending mode.

When to use it
you need control over each stage, such as checking the template before anything is posted.
Watch out
three Merci facteur Pro actions in one Zap means three tasks and a paid plan.
16

Send Publipostage (One Step)

Action

In Zapier“Send a publipostage on one step.”

Runs a whole mail merge in a single action instead of three. Fewer steps, fewer tasks, and a Zap that can stay within two steps.

When to use it
the template and recipients are ready and you just want the mailing to leave.
Watch out
look at the fields it asks for in the editor before you test it.
17

Create Address

Action

In Zapier“The address created can be for a sender or a recipient. Adresses are linked to a precise user. There's is no need to create multiple time a single address, they're stored on your account. Mandatory: - "nom" or "societe" - "cp" - "ville" - "pays" "PAYS" must be in full uppercase (example: "FRANCE").”

Saves a sender or recipient address on your account, tied to one user. Name or company, postal code, city and country are mandatory, and the country goes in full uppercase.

When to use it
a new client in your CRM should be ready to receive mail.
Watch out
addresses stay stored, so there is no need to create the same one twice. Electronic registered mail needs the recipient's consent field set to 1.
18

Create New User

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new user. You'll generally only need one, the one created with your Merci Facteur Pro account. (see the "Utilisateurs" tab when connected on the website).”

Adds a user to the account from a unique email, which can be fictitious as long as it identifies the user. Most accounts only ever need the user created with the account.

When to use it
you really need a user beyond the one created with the account.
Watch out
the email must be unique to that user.
19

Source Publipostage

Action

In Zapier“Second step of the three steps required to send a Publipostage using Merci Facteur Pro”

Second of the three mail merge steps: it attaches the source of recipients to the validated template, for a given user. Template validation, source, source type and user ID are all required.

When to use it
right after Template Publipostage, in the same Zap.
Watch out
check at the test what the source must look like before relying on it.
20

Template Publipostage

Action

In Zapier“First of the three steps required to send a Publipostage using Merci Facteur Pro”

Opens a three-step mail merge by uploading the template: a link to a docx file, or the file encoded in base64. The other two steps follow in the same Zap.

When to use it
one letter model goes to many recipients with their own details.
Watch out
the template type must match what you send, file link or base64.
21

Update Address

Action

In Zapier“Updates an address. Mandatory: - "id" : adress ID - "nom" or "societe": name or company - "cp" : zip code - "ville" : City - "pays" : country If you want to remove any information from an address, just send an empty string where needed.”

Changes an existing address from its ID. Name or company, postal code, city and country stay mandatory on every update. To clear a piece of information, send an empty value where needed.

When to use it
a client moves and the new address is entered in your CRM.
Watch out
spell the country the way the app expects.
22

Update User Details

Action

In Zapier“Updates a user's details”

Edits a user's details from their user ID, with an email that must stay unique to that user. It keeps each user identifiable when their email changes.

When to use it
a user's contact email changes in your team directory.
Watch out
both the user ID and the email are required.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier lists no help article and no rate limit for Merci facteur Pro. The breakdowns worth knowing come from the actions and from Zapier itself.

On a paper mail service, a mistake leaves the building: it gets printed and posted. These four cases are the ones to keep in mind. If a Zap still misbehaves once they are ruled out, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • A test may post a real letter

The app warns that Send Mail generates a mail that is deducted, printed and posted, and asks testers to contact it to cancel. A Zapier test runs that step once.
  • A cancellation is refused

Delete Mail depends on where the mail stands: it can be rejected, partially accepted with part of the cost charged, or fully accepted. It cannot be undone.
  • Old records are not sent

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Clients or rows that existed before are not picked up; mailing them is a separate job.
  • A big batch is held back

If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back instead of running them all.

FAQ

Merci facteur Pro Zapier integration: questions

01Is the Merci facteur Pro Zapier integration free?
Yes. Merci facteur Pro is not a premium app, so its 22 actions are available on the free Zapier plan. That plan includes 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but every Zap is limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Since the trigger always comes from another app, a free Zap is one event elsewhere plus one Merci facteur Pro action, such as a form answer followed by Create Address. Storing an address and then sending a letter is two actions, which makes a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Merci facteur Pro Zap use?
One per Merci facteur Pro action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. That includes the actions that only read data, such as Get User Id, Get Mail Price or Get Shipment Tracking: they are actions, not search steps, so each successful run counts. A three-step mail merge costs three tasks per run, where Send Publipostage (One Step) costs one. A failed action is not counted. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so check the other app's steps too.
03Does Merci facteur Pro work in real time on Zapier?
Merci facteur Pro has no trigger, so the question is about the other app. The Zap starts on that app's trigger: if it is instant, the Merci facteur Pro action runs right away; if it polls, Zapier checks it every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team and Enterprise. Nothing in Merci facteur Pro can start a Zap, so no event fires when a letter is delivered. To follow a shipment, call Get Shipment Tracking from another trigger.
04What do you need to connect a Merci facteur Pro account?
A Merci facteur Pro account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. From the Apps page of your Zapier account, click + Add connection, search for Merci facteur Pro, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. Then get your user ID: Send Mail, Create Address, List Addresses and List Shipments all require it, and Get User Id returns it from the user's email.
05Can testing Send Mail in Zapier send a real letter?
Plan for it. Two facts add up here: Zapier's test runs each step once, and the app warns that Send Mail generates a mail that is deducted from your quota, printed and posted, asking anyone running tests to contact Merci facteur Pro to cancel. So a test of that step can end in a real letter. Test the earlier steps first, add Send Mail last, and point the test at an address you control. Treat the mail merge steps with the same care.
06What if the Merci facteur Pro operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Merci facteur Pro today. The Merci facteur Pro page on zapier.com shows the current list: 22 actions at the time of writing, and no trigger or search. A notification when a letter is delivered, for example, does not exist there; Get Shipment Tracking called from another trigger is the closest thing. The Zap editor cannot add an operation, so check whether another automation tool connects to Merci facteur Pro with the step in question.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Merci facteur Pro?
Judge on criteria rather than a ranking. Coverage: on Zapier, Merci facteur Pro offers 22 actions and no trigger, so it fits flows where another tool decides when mail goes out; check whether Make or n8n connect to Merci facteur Pro and with which steps. Shape: a three-step mail merge or an address plus a letter already makes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid Zapier plan. Volume: every successful action, lookups included, is a task. Speed depends on your trigger app.
