Overview

What the Modash Zapier integration actually does

Modash is an influencer tool that helps brands find creators who speak to their audience. The integration links it to Zapier, so a creator's Instagram handle collected in another app can be turned into a full Modash profile without opening Modash. One operation, an action, and it works on the free plan.

Applications that arrive with the profile attached. When creators apply through your form, Get Influencer Profile takes the Instagram handle they typed and returns their Modash profile, ready to file next to the application.

A creator sheet that fills itself in. Add a handle to a row of your spreadsheet, and a Zap fetches the profile and writes what you need back into another sheet or tool. Check at test time which profile values come back before you pick columns.

Richer creator records in your CRM. A new contact with an Instagram handle can start a Zap that pulls the Modash profile, so your team sees more than a name.

What Zapier does not do here. Modash has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing in Modash can start a Zap: the event always comes from another app. There is no search step either, and the only action reads a profile, it does not create or change anything in Modash. If you are weighing other tools for this, see our n8n vs Zapier comparison.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Seven words come back on every Zapier screen. Here they are in plain English, once.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. With Modash it always sits in another app, such as your form tool.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or fetches something for you, like a profile.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's quota is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it really costs

Modash is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. What you pay for is tasks.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Get Influencer ProfileOne task when it succeeds
  • Failed actionNot counted

The trigger, which lives in another app, never costs a task. Each Get Influencer Profile that succeeds counts as one task, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only. That is enough to fetch a profile, but not to do something with it: writing the profile into a sheet is a second action, so the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. If the other app's trigger works by polling, the grid below says how often Zapier checks it.

Connect

Connect Modash to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Modash account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Modash

Type Modash in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens, and that is where the rest of the connection happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Modash in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is then reused by every Modash step in every Zap, so you only link the account once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: every creator application, enriched in your sheet

GoalA creator applies through your form: Modash fetches the profile behind their Instagram handle, and a row with the essentials lands in your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and pick the trigger

Start a new Zap with your form app and its new-entry event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent entries of the connected account, so you map from a real one.

  2. 02

    Add Get Influencer Profile

Add a step, choose Modash and Get Influencer Profile, then map the Instagram handle field from the form. Test the step and read which profile values came back.

  3. 03

    Add the spreadsheet row

Pick your spreadsheet app and its add-row action, then map the form answers and the profile values into columns. Two actions make the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Test the whole Zap

Run each step once and check the row it wrote. If a column comes out empty, go back to the mapping before you switch anything on.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. It only reacts to entries that arrive after that moment; earlier applications are not picked up.

Actions

Modash actions

Modash gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Get Influencer Profile

Action

In Zapier“Return full profile of the user”

Takes an Instagram handle from an earlier step and returns the full Modash profile of that creator for the steps that follow to store or share.

When to use it
creator handles reach you through a form, a sheet or a CRM, and you want their profile without looking each one up in Modash.
Watch out
the Instagram handle is required, so make sure every entry carries one, and check at test time which profile values come back.
When it breaks

When the Modash Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Modash, so the risks below are the ones every Zap shares.

These limits come from Zapier itself and apply to every app, Modash included. If one of them gets in your way, start with our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Nothing from before the Zap

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Applications or rows that already existed are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • Flood protection on big batches

When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import into your sheet for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burns through your task count.

FAQ

Modash Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the Modash Zapier integration free?
Yes. Modash is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A Zap that fetches a profile each time a form is filled fits within that. The catch is what comes next: storing the profile in a sheet or a CRM is a second action, which makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Modash Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds. The trigger in your form or sheet costs nothing; each Get Influencer Profile that returns a profile counts as one task. In the Zap described on this page, the profile lookup plus the new spreadsheet row use two tasks per application. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. With 100 tasks a month on the free plan, count your expected volume of handles before choosing a plan.
03Does Modash work in real time on Zapier?
Modash has no trigger, so the timing depends on the app that starts your Zap. If that app's trigger is instant, the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. If it works by polling, Zapier checks it at an interval set by your plan: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional and 1 on Team or Enterprise. Get Influencer Profile then runs when the Zap reaches it. Check the trigger you pick: the editor shows a lightning bolt on instant ones.
04What do you need to connect Modash to Zapier?
A Modash account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. Open the Apps page of your Zapier account, click + Add connection, pick Modash, then sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. You also need an app upstream that collects Instagram handles, since the only Modash action asks for one and Modash cannot start a Zap on its own.
05Why does Get Influencer Profile stop on some entries?
Look at the Instagram handle first. It is the only required field of the action, so an entry that reaches the step without a handle has nothing to look up. Check whether the field is optional in your form, or whether some rows of your sheet leave that column empty. Make the field required in your form, or add a filter in front of the action so only entries with a handle continue. A filter makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
06What if the Modash operation you want is not on Zapier?
Then this integration cannot do it. The app page of Modash on Zapier shows the current list, which today means 1 action, Get Influencer Profile, with no trigger and no search. If you need Modash to start a Zap, look for the event in the app that holds your creators instead. For anything else inside Modash, compare automation tools on that precise point, with the current list of the app page in front of you before you build.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Modash?
Pick by criteria, not by a winner. Coverage first: on Zapier, Modash offers a single action, so check what the other tools offer for it. Volume next: every profile fetched is a task on Zapier, and storing it is another. Timing depends on the trigger of the app that starts the Zap, not on Modash, so look at that app too. Finally, consider who maintains the Zaps: the other tools ask for more technical comfort in exchange for more control.
