What the MPower Promo Zapier integration does for you
MPower Promo is a platform for running promotional product orders, the customers behind them and company stores. On Zapier it acts as a source: five instant triggers report what happens to orders and customers, and two searches fetch a record by its ID. Other apps receive the data; nothing gets written back into MPower Promo.
Three results the seven operations make possible. A payment trail for your books: Order Payment Created starts a Zap whenever a payment is recorded, and Find Order adds the order details before they reach your accounting tool. A live order board: Order Created and Order Updated keep a spreadsheet row per order in step with MPower Promo. A cleaner contact list: Customer Created and Customer Updated push each new or changed customer to your email tool.
Now what Zapier does not do here. The integration has no action at all, so no Zap can create an order, record a payment or edit a customer inside MPower Promo. The searches only work by ID: Find Customer needs a Customer ID and Find Order an Order ID, not a name or an email. And no trigger covers company stores, even though the platform manages them.
Every trigger is instant, so the plan interval never delays them. For a wider look at the tool, see our Zapier review.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms are all this page uses.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here an order or customer event.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in another app on this page.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
What it really costs
MPower Promo is not a premium app, so it runs from the free plan up.
- TriggersFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Search or filterMulti-step Zap, paid plan
Triggers never cost a task: a new order reaching Zapier is free. Each action that succeeds afterwards counts as one task, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps, one trigger and one action. Here is the catch for this app: adding Find Order or Find Customer, or a filter, makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below is Zapier's polling interval by plan; it does not apply to the five instant triggers of MPower Promo.
Connect your MPower Promo account
- 01
Open the Apps page
In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your MPower Promo account linked once, then reused by every Zap and every search step that needs it.
- 02
Pick MPower Promo
Search MPower Promo by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens where you sign in to your MPower Promo account and grant access.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to MPower Promo in that tab and allow Zapier into the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: send each payment to your books
GoalEach new MPower Promo payment pulls its order details, then becomes an entry in your accounting tool.
- 01
Build: set the trigger
Create a Zap, pick MPower Promo as the starting app and
Order Payment Createdas the event, then select your MPower Promo connection. - 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real payment.
- 03
Add Find Order
Add
Find Orderas a search step and map the Order Order ID field of the payment trigger into Order Id. A search makes the Zap multi-step, so this one needs a paid plan. - 04
Add the accounting step
Pick your accounting tool and the action that records an entry, then map the payment and order values into its fields. Run the test and read what came back.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Payments created from then on go through it; older payments are not picked up. Being built on an instant trigger, it shows a lightning bolt in the editor.
MPower Promo triggers
5 events start a Zap when something happens in MPower Promo, and 5 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Order Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new order is created.”
Starts your Zap the moment a new order is created in MPower Promo. It is the natural entry point for anything that should follow an order: a row on a tracking sheet, a message to your team, a record elsewhere.
Order Payment Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new order payment is created.”
Fires when a new payment is recorded against an order. That makes it the trigger for money matters: your books, a payment log, or a heads-up that an order can move forward.
Find Order after it, which makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.Customer Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new customer is created.”
Runs each time a new customer is added in MPower Promo. Use it to start the life of that contact in your other tools, so the people you sell promotional products to exist everywhere you need them.
Customer Updated.Customer Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a customer is updated.”
Kicks off when an existing customer record changes in MPower Promo. It keeps copies of that customer in other apps current, instead of letting them drift from the source.
Order Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a order is updated.”
Goes off when an existing order changes in MPower Promo. Paired with Order Created, it lets a sheet or board mirror each order from creation through every later change.
Order Created; check at test time what an update sends.MPower Promo searches
2 search steps look for data that already exists in MPower Promo, so a later step can use it.
A search step looks up a record that already exists in MPower Promo and hands it to the next steps. Searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Any search makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
Find Customer
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieve customer information by Customer Id.”
Fetches a customer's full record from MPower Promo using its Customer ID, so later steps can use details the trigger did not bring.
Find Order
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieve order information by Order Id”
Pulls an order's information from MPower Promo by its Order ID, so a payment or a later step can be matched with the full order.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that relied on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. MPower Promo exposes no find-or-create variant for its two searches, so neither one can create a missing record.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several records match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks
Zapier links no help article and no specific limit to MPower Promo. The cases below come from the required fields of its searches and from Zapier's general limits.
Keep these in mind when an MPower Promo Zap does not behave as planned. For a method to trace a failing step, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
A search without its ID
Find Customer needs a Customer ID and Find Order an Order Id. Map them from a trigger's output, or copy them from the record in MPower Promo.A search that finds nothing
By default, a search with no result stops the Zap and skips the steps that relied on it, unless Successful if no search results are found? is on.Orders from before the Zap
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Orders and customers that already existed are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and use up tasks fast.A sudden flood of orders
If a trigger returns a huge batch at once, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.A filter that never passes
Filter rules are typed: a text rule only works on text, a number rule only on numbers. Picking the wrong one is why a filter lets nothing through.
