Mumble Zapier integrationAutomate Mumble with Zapier.

The Mumble Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 7 actions and 0 searches. Mumble never starts a Zap on its own: another app does, and Mumble does the work after it, from filing a customer to sending a template message.

Overview

What the Mumble Zapier integration does for you

It lets your other tools drive Mumble, the app that handles customer messaging over WhatsApp Business. A Zap is the automation you build on Zapier: one event in some app starts it, then steps run one after the other. With Mumble, those steps file customers, sort them with labels and send messages.

A welcome message after someone signs up elsewhere. A form entry, or any other event you pick, starts the Zap; Create New Customer files the person in Mumble, then Send Template sends them one of your saved templates. Note that this pairing uses two actions, so it needs a paid plan.

Customer records that stay in step with your sheet. When a row changes in your spreadsheet, Edit a Customer takes the phone number and the name from that row and passes them to Mumble. Nobody retypes it.

Personalised templates without copy and paste. Send Template Message With Variables fills the gaps of a template, a first name for instance, with what the earlier step carried in.

What Zapier does not do for Mumble: there is no trigger, so an incoming message or a new customer in Mumble cannot start a Zap, and there is no search to look up a customer first. Everything begins in another app. If you want to compare routes, see our Mumble Make integration page.

Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Seven terms, in plain words. Each one comes back below without a second explanation.

Zap
The automation you set up on Zapier: one event that starts it, followed by the steps that run every time it happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Mumble has none, so the trigger of a Mumble Zap always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something, such as sending a template.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is a count of those.
Polling vs instant trigger
Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens. It depends on the other app.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Mumble Zap really costs

Mumble is not reserved for paid plans: it works from the free plan. The trigger, which here belongs to another app, never costs a task.

  • TriggerNever billed
  • Successful Mumble action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • MumbleAvailable on the free plan

Each Mumble action that goes through counts as one task; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each one stops at two steps. Creating a customer and then sending a template is two actions, so the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan, just like adding a filter. The interval grid below applies to polling triggers; since Mumble has no trigger, what matters is the type of trigger of the app that starts your Zap.

Connect

Connect your Mumble account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps. A connection is your Mumble account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Mumble step. You need a Mumble account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Add the connection

Click + Add connection, type Mumble in the search box of the dialog that appears and pick it from the results. Then click Add connection to start the link.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A tab opens on Mumble. Sign in with the account the Zap should work on, then grant Zapier access to it. All seven actions can then use this connection.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a template message for each new form entry

GoalEach entry in your form that passes a filter files the person as a Mumble customer, then sends them a template message.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap and choose your form tool as the app that starts it, with the event for a new entry. Select its connection, then test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent entries.

  2. 02

    Add the filter

From the plus icon, add Filter and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  3. 03

    File the customer

Add Mumble, pick Create New Customer, then map the phone number, with its area code, and the full name from the form entry. Both fields are required.

  4. 04

    Send the template

Add a second Mumble step with Send Template. Map the same phone number and paste the Template ID taken from the template's address in Mumble.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Run each step once and read what came back. When the customer and the message look right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Actions

The seven Mumble actions

Mumble gives you 7 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add New Label

Action

In Zapier“Add New Label to Mumble”

Creates a label in Mumble under the name you give it, so customers can later be sorted into it.

When to use it
when a new category appears in another tool, a campaign or a source for example, and you want the matching label ready in Mumble.
Watch out
Label Name is the only required field, so the name has to come from the step before or be typed in.
2

Create New Customer

Action

In Zapier“Add New Customer to Mumble”

Adds a person to your Mumble customers, with a name and a phone number brought in by an earlier step of the Zap.

When to use it
when someone fills a form or signs up in another app and should become reachable from Mumble.
Watch out
Customer Phone Number and Customer Name are both required, and the number is expected with its area code.
3

Delete Label

Action

In Zapier“Delete a Label from Mumble”

Removes a label from Mumble, the one whose name you type or map.

When to use it
when a category is retired in the tool that drives your labels and the matching one should disappear from Mumble too.
Watch out
Label Name is required; check at test which label goes, and run that test on a label you can spare.
4

Edit a Customer

Action

In Zapier“Edit Customer in Mumble”

Updates a customer record that already lives in Mumble, with the phone number and the name you map from an earlier step.

When to use it
when a name is corrected in your spreadsheet or another tool and Mumble should show the same.
Watch out
Customer Phone and Customer Name are required; the phone number goes in with its area code, like everywhere else in this app.
5

Send Template

Action

In Zapier“Send Template Message”

Sends one of your saved Mumble templates to a customer's phone number, exactly as the template is written.

When to use it
for a fixed message that does not change from one person to the next, such as a confirmation.
Watch out
Template ID is required and sits in the template's address inside Mumble; copy it from there rather than guessing it.
6

Send Template Message With Variables

Action

In Zapier“Send template message with variables”

Sends a template whose blanks are filled with values from earlier steps, so each customer gets their own version.

When to use it
when the message must carry a name or another detail taken from the event that started the Zap.
Watch out
Variable is required on top of the phone number and Template ID; the placeholders follow the pattern {{1}}, {{2}}, and so on.
7

Send Text Message

Action

In Zapier“Send text message after customer sent you a message”

Sends a text message to a customer's phone number. Its official description adds one condition: the customer has sent you a message first.

When to use it
when you answer a customer who has already written to you, rather than a template.
Watch out
Customer Phone Number and Message are both required.
When it breaks

When a Mumble Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Mumble, so the cases below are the general pitfalls of any Zap that ends in it.

Read these cases before you publish. If a Zap still misbehaves after that, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • No catch-up on the past

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Form entries or rows that existed before are not sent to Mumble; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your tasks.
  • Bulk imports held back

When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the runs back.
  • Two steps on the free plan

The free plan builds Zaps of one trigger and one action. Creating a customer and sending a template in the same Zap already needs a paid plan.

FAQ

Mumble Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Mumble Zapier integration free?
Yes. Mumble is not one of the apps Zapier reserves for paid plans, so it works from the free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A Zap where a form entry sends one template fits inside it. As soon as you chain two Mumble actions, or add a filter, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Mumble Zap use?
One task for each Mumble action that completes. The trigger, which comes from another app, never costs anything. So a Zap that only sends a template uses one task per message, while a Zap that creates the customer and then sends the template uses two per person. If an action does not go through, it is not counted against your plan. Plan the volume from the number of events you expect in the trigger app.
03Can Mumble start a Zap in real time?
No, because Mumble has no trigger on Zapier at all: every Mumble Zap starts in another app. Whether it runs instantly depends on that app's trigger. An instant trigger reports the event to Zapier itself and ignores the plan's interval; a polling trigger is checked on a timer that depends on your plan, every 15 minutes on the free plan. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What do you need to connect Mumble to Zapier?
A Mumble account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The steps: open Apps in your Zapier account, click + Add connection, search for Mumble and pick it, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The same connection then serves all seven actions. For the template actions, have your templates ready in Mumble first.
05Where do you find the Template ID that Mumble asks for?
In the template's address inside Mumble: the field description says the ID can be found in the template URL. Both Send Template and Send Template Message With Variables require it, together with the customer's phone number, and the variables version also requires the Variable field. Open the template in Mumble, copy the ID from the address bar, paste it in the step, then run the test to check that the right message goes out.
06What if the Mumble operation you want is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Mumble today. The editor offers seven actions and nothing else: no trigger, so nothing that happens in Mumble can start a Zap, and no search. The Mumble page on Zapier shows the current list, so check it before you design a Zap around a missing step. In the meantime, keep the starting event in another app, or see whether Make or n8n covers the step you are after.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Mumble?
Compare them on criteria rather than on a ranking. First, the operations each tool offers for Mumble: on Zapier, seven actions and no trigger. Second, how each one counts usage: Zapier bills every successful action as a task, and the free plan stops at two steps, which rules out creating a customer and sending a template in one go. Third, the trigger app you start from, since its type decides how quickly the Mumble steps run.
