What the Muvi Zapier integration does for you
The Muvi Zapier integration links your streaming platform to the tools around it. Muvi tells Zapier when a live stream or a meeting moves, when content changes in the catalog, or when a user registers or edits an account. Zapier then passes that on. In the other direction, four actions register, update or remove users and upload files to your library.
Three results show the idea. A team that knows you are live: Muvi Live: Live Stream Started fires when a broadcast begins, and the next step posts a message in your team chat. New viewers in your other tools: Muvi One: User Registered fires on each registration, so the person can be added to your email list or your CRM without an export. Files that reach the library on their own: Upload Content in Muvi Library takes a file from another app, such as your cloud storage, and puts it in the Muvi library.
The point that matters most: all 17 triggers are instant. Muvi calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so a free plan reacts as fast as any paid one, and the plan interval grid never comes into play on these triggers.
Now what Zapier does not do with Muvi. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an existing user or a piece of content before acting. No action edits catalog content or controls a live stream or a meeting; those changes stay in Muvi. And the actions cover users and uploads only. To learn to build this kind of flow step by step, see our Zapier training.
Zapier vocabulary, in one minute
A few Zapier words carry the rest of the page. Here they are, once each.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a live stream starting in Muvi. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or uploads something for you, in Muvi or elsewhere.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is a count of those.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, calling Zapier the moment the event happens. All 17 Muvi triggers work this way.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval. Many other apps work like that.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops the run otherwise.
What a Muvi Zap really costs
Muvi is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works from the free plan, and its triggers are all instant.
- Muvi triggers that are instant17 out of 17
- Tasks on the free plan100 per month
- Steps per Zap on the free plan2 (one trigger, one action)
- Paid plan required for MuviNo
A trigger never costs a task, however many streams, meetings or registrations it reports. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, whether it is a Muvi action or a step in another app; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers: it does not apply to Muvi's 17 instant triggers, only to a polling trigger in another app that feeds a Muvi action.
Connect Muvi to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Muvi account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 02
Pick Muvi
Type Muvi in the dialog, choose it from the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab then opens so you can sign in to your Muvi account.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Muvi in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved, and every Muvi trigger and action in your Zaps reuses it.
Your first Zap: tell the team when a live stream starts
GoalEach time a live stream starts on Muvi Live, a filter checks the condition you choose, then a message goes to your team chat.
- 01
Build the Zap
Create a Zap, choose Muvi as the trigger app and Muvi Live: Live Stream Started as the event. Connect your Muvi account and continue.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map fields on a real stream and see what it carries.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, choose Filter, and set its three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. This step needs a paid plan, since it makes the Zap multi-step.
- 04
Add the chat message
Add your team chat and its send-message action. Insert the stream details that came from Muvi into the message, checking on the test which values arrive.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the action and read the message in the channel. If it looks right, click Publish; the editor shows a lightning bolt on this instant trigger.
The 17 Muvi triggers
17 events start a Zap when something happens in Muvi, and 17 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Started
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream is started”
Fires the moment a broadcast actually goes live on Muvi Live. It is the event to use when people should know that something is on right now.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Status
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream started and update the status.”
Fires on a live stream that has already started, each time Muvi Live updates its status. Which statuses exist is not spelled out on Zapier, so compare it with Live Stream Started on a test before choosing one of the two.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Stopped
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream is stopped”
Fires when a live stream ends. It closes the loop opened by Live Stream Started, so the two together frame a broadcast from start to finish.
Muvi Live: Meeting Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a meeting is created”
Starts a Zap as soon as someone sets up a new meeting in Muvi Live, before it begins. That makes it the moment to spread the word.
Muvi Live: Meeting Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a meeting is deleted”
Reports that a meeting has been removed from Muvi Live. Without it, a calendar entry or a reminder created earlier would stay behind and confuse people.
Muvi Live: Meeting Started
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a meeting is started”
Goes off when a meeting actually begins, as opposed to when it was scheduled. It is the live signal for meetings, the way Live Stream Started is for broadcasts. Pair it with Meeting Stopped to frame the session.
Muvi Live: Meeting Stopped
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a meeting is stopped”
Reports the end of a meeting in Muvi Live. Paired with Meeting Started, it brackets each session and gives your other tools a clear point to act after it.
Muvi Live: Meeting Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a meeting is updated”
Fires when an existing meeting is edited in Muvi Live. Any copy of that meeting elsewhere can then be brought back in line.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream is created.”
Reports a new live stream being set up in Muvi Live, before it goes on air. It is the planning signal, where Live Stream Started is the on-air one.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream is deleted”
Kicks in when a live stream is removed from Muvi Live. It lets you clean up what other tools still hold about a broadcast that will not happen.
Muvi Live: Live Stream Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a live stream is updated”
Reports an edit to an existing live stream in Muvi Live. Your planning tools can follow along instead of drifting. It follows edits, not the broadcast itself.
Muvi One: Content Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when content is added to the CMS.”
Fires when new content is added to the Muvi One CMS, the place where your catalog lives. It turns each addition into a signal for the rest of your stack of tools.
Muvi One: Content Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Trigger when a content is deleted in Muvione cms.”
Tells Zapier that a piece of content has been removed from the Muvi One CMS. Lists and pages kept elsewhere can then drop it too.
Muvi One: Content Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when content is updated in the CMS.”
Fires when existing content changes in the Muvi One CMS. Whatever copy of its details you keep in another tool can be refreshed from it.
Muvi One: User Registered
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a user is registered.”
Catches each new user who registers on your Muvi One platform. It is the starting point for anything you do with new viewers outside Muvi.
Muvi One: User Details Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when the user account deleted.”
Flags the deletion of a user account on Muvi One. Records of that person kept in other tools can then be handled the same way.
Muvi One: User Details Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when the user details are updated.”
Picks up any change to a user's details on Muvi One. Contact records held elsewhere can follow, so the same person does not carry two versions of the truth. It complements User Registered and User Details Deleted.
The 4 Muvi actions
Muvi gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Muvione : Create Registration
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a free registration in Muvione store”
Opens a free registration in your Muvione store from data held in another tool. The Mobile number field is required.
Muvione : Delete User
ActionIn Zapier“Delete a user in Muvione store”
Removes a user from your Muvione store. It is the only Muvi action that takes something away, so treat it with care.
Muvione : Update User
ActionIn Zapier“Update a user in Muvione store”
Changes an existing user in your Muvione store with values coming from elsewhere. Like the registration, it requires a Mobile number.
Upload Content in Muvi Library
ActionIn Zapier“Uploads file content to the Muvi library.”
Sends a file from another app into your Muvi library, so new material does not wait for a manual upload.
When a Muvi Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Muvi, and no limit specific to the app is on record. What can go wrong comes from how every Zap behaves.
Four cases are worth knowing before you publish. If one of them shows up, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Past streams and users are not sent
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Streams, meetings and accounts that already existed stay out; moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burns through tasks fast.A sudden flood
If a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back. The same item twice
On a polling trigger in another app feeding a Muvi action, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.
