What the My Challenge Creator Zapier integration actually does
My Challenge Creator is a tool for building and launching a challenge without dealing with the technical side. On Zapier, the tool that links apps together, it offers two actions, both about registration: one signs a person up for a free challenge, the other for a paid one. Another app always starts the automation.
Free sign-ups without copying. Someone fills in your form, and New User Registration Free Challenge creates their registration with the first name, email and password the form collected.
Paid sign-ups with their payment details. New User Registration Paid Challenge does the same for a paid challenge and also records the discount, the amount and the payment status passed on from the previous step.
The right challenge every time. Both actions ask for your creator email, then let you pick the challenge from a list linked to that email, so each Zap points at one challenge you chose.
What Zapier does not do here: there is no trigger, so nothing that happens in My Challenge Creator can start a Zap. There is no search step, and neither action edits or removes a registration. Each registration that goes through counts as one task on your plan. If you are weighing tools first, see our Zapier review or the n8n vs Zapier comparison.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
A few words come back throughout this page. Here they are, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. My Challenge Creator has none, so it always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes or sends something for you, here a new registration.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is counted in tasks.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what is new.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for Zapier's next check.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
My Challenge Creator is not a premium app on Zapier: it works from the free plan. What you spend is tasks.
- Premium appNo, free plan is enough
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two steps per Zap
- Each registrationOne task
- TriggerNever billed
Each registration that goes through counts as one task. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, however often Zapier checks it, and a registration that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter to sort free and paid sign-ups and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below only applies when the trigger you choose in the other app is a polling one.
Connect My Challenge Creator to Zapier in 3 steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need a My Challenge Creator account first, since every registration is made inside it.
- 02
Find My Challenge Creator
In the dialog that opens, type My Challenge Creator in the search box, pick it from the results and click Add connection. A new browser tab opens for the sign-in.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
Sign in to My Challenge Creator in that tab, then grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once and every step that uses the app reuses it.
Your first Zap: paid form entries become paid registrations
GoalEach new form entry is checked against a condition, and only the matching ones are registered for your paid challenge.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap and pick your form tool as the app that starts it, with its new-entry event. My Challenge Creator cannot open a Zap, since it has no trigger.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent entries of the connected form account, so you map the next steps on a real one.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter, and fill the three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, and the value to compare with. This filter needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the paid registration
Add
New User Registration Paid Challenge, type your creator email, pick the challenge, then map name, email, password, discount, amount and payment status. Test the step. - 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Only entries sent after that moment are registered; earlier ones in your form stay where they are.
My Challenge Creator actions on Zapier
My Challenge Creator gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
New User Registration Free Challenge
ActionIn Zapier“register new user for free challenge”
Signs a new participant up for one of your free challenges. You give it their first name, email and password, then your creator email and the challenge to join.
New User Registration Paid Challenge
ActionIn Zapier“register new user for paid challenge”
Registers someone for a paid challenge and stores the payment side with it: the discount name, the amount and the payment status.
When the My Challenge Creator Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article and no specific limit to My Challenge Creator. What goes wrong comes from the way every Zap works, mostly in the app that starts it.
Check these four cases first. If a run still fails, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Earlier sign-ups are not registered
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Entries already in your form are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again and burn through your tasks.A huge batch at once
After a bulk import into the app that starts the Zap, a trigger that suddenly returns a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection. The same entry, seen once
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same entry does not start the Zap twice.
