What the MyCSP Zapier integration does for you
The MyCSP Zapier integration connects MyCSP to Zapier. MyCSP is a SaaS commerce platform where businesses and cloud service providers buy and resell Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Azure Stack from Microsoft. It offers five triggers on invoices, subscriptions and tenants. When Zapier finds a new item, it passes it to another app. It only reads from MyCSP.
Three results you can build on those triggers. An invoice register in a sheet: New Invoice adds a row per invoice to a spreadsheet, and Paid Invoices can mark the payments in a second one, so you follow both without exporting anything. A heads-up on new subscriptions: New Subscription posts a message in your team chat, so the team knows there is something to look at. A task for each new tenant: New Tenant creates a task in your task manager, ready to be assigned.
What Zapier does not do for MyCSP. There is no action, so a Zap cannot create an invoice, change a subscription or set up a tenant. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look up an existing invoice. All five triggers are polling triggers: Zapier checks on a timer, and nothing reaches your Zap between two checks. Only items created or changed after the Zap is switched on count. To judge the tool itself, see our Zapier review.
Zapier words, in plain English
Seven words come back on this page. Here is each one, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts the Zap, here an invoice, subscription or tenant event in MyCSP. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in another app here.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's number is a count of those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only the ones it has not seen.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a MyCSP Zap really costs
MyCSP is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. You pay for completed actions, never for the trigger or the checks.
- Triggers and checksFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo
None of the five triggers costs a task, and the checks are free too, however often Zapier runs them. Each action that succeeds counts as one task; a failed action is not counted. A two-action Zap therefore uses twice what a one-action Zap uses. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Your plan also decides how often Zapier checks MyCSP, as the grid shows.
Connect MyCSP to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your MyCSP account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that needs it.
- 02
Pick MyCSP
Type MyCSP in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the MyCSP sign-in. You need an account on the app before you can carry on.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to MyCSP in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You also need read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: log the invoices you care about
GoalEach new MyCSP invoice that meets your condition becomes a row in your spreadsheet.
- 01
Create the Zap and set the trigger
Start a new Zap, pick MyCSP as the app and New Invoice as the event, then choose your MyCSP connection from the list below it.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent invoices of the account, so you build the next steps on a real one. Check at test time what each one holds.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter, and fill the three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. A filter needs a paid plan, and a number rule only works on numbers.
- 04
Add the spreadsheet step
Add your spreadsheet app as the action, choose the step that adds a row, then map the invoice values from the test into its columns.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step once and read what came back before going further. When it all looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
The five MyCSP triggers
5 events start a Zap when something happens in MyCSP. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
Paid Invoices
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an invoice is paid.”
Picks up invoices once they are paid in MyCSP and starts your Zap with each one it finds.
Updated Invoices
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an invoice is updates.”
Reports invoices that change in MyCSP, one Zap run for each update Zapier spots.
New Invoice
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new invoice is created.”
Catches each invoice created in MyCSP and hands it to the next steps of your Zap.
New Subscription
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new subscription is created.”
Spots a subscription created in MyCSP and starts the Zap with it.
New Tenant
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new tenant is created.”
Flags each tenant created in MyCSP, so the Zap can tell someone or record it elsewhere.
When a MyCSP Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to MyCSP, so these cases are the general Zapier limits that apply to its five polling triggers.
Four situations to keep in mind before and after you publish. If one of them shows up, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Older invoices never come through
The Zap only reacts to items created or changed after it is switched on. Nothing older is picked up, and moving that history is a separate job.A big batch is held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. The item shows up later than expected
These are polling triggers: Zapier checks every 15 minutes on the free plan, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Between two checks, nothing moves. The filter never lets anything through
Filter rules are typed: a text rule only works on text, a number rule only on numbers. Picking the wrong type is why a filter never passes.
