Myla Zapier integrationAutomate Myla with Zapier.

The Myla Zapier integration gives you 3 triggers, 2 actions and 1 search. Two triggers are instant, so a new conversation or message reaches your other tools right away; the contact trigger waits for Zapier's next check. Here is what each does, what it costs and where it trips.

Beta app Zapier still marks this integration as beta.

Overview

What the Myla Zapier integration does for your support team

Myla is a customer support platform with AI built in. Linking it to Zapier lets your other tools hear about new conversations, new messages and new contacts in Myla. It also lets those tools create or update a Myla contact, add a tag to one, or look a contact up by email, so customer records stay in step across your stack of apps.

A team that sees new conversations without watching the inbox. New Conversation flags each conversation Myla receives in your team chat, so whoever is on duty picks it up.

One contact record, not three. Create or Update Contact creates a contact or updates the one that matches the same email or phone. Feeding it from your sign-up form keeps Myla aligned with the rest of your tools.

Contacts sorted by tag. Find Contact looks a person up by exact email, and Add Tag to Contact then puts an existing tag on them, for example to mark customers coming from a specific channel.

The most useful thing to know: New Conversation and New Message are instant, so they react right away even on the free plan. New Contact is a polling trigger, so on the free plan a new contact can wait up to 15 minutes. If speed matters, build on the conversation or message trigger.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no action to send a reply, close a conversation or remove a tag. Zapier lists the integration as beta. To compare options, see our n8n vs Zapier page.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in one minute

Eight terms come back on this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts your Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills you for: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only the ones it has not seen.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: it calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for the next check.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found. Find Contact is one.
Cost

What a Myla Zap really costs

Myla is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. You pay in tasks, and only completed actions count.

  • Trigger and checksFree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
  • Search, filter or second actionMulti-step Zap, paid plan

The trigger never costs a task, and neither do Zapier's checks for new contacts. Each action that goes through is one task: a Zap that posts in chat and adds a spreadsheet row uses two per conversation. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps. A second action, a filter or a search step such as Find Contact turns it into a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.

The grid below applies to New Contact, the only polling trigger. New Conversation and New Message are instant, so it does not apply to them.

Connect

Connect your Myla account to Zapier

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Myla account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Find Myla and confirm

Type Myla in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the Myla side, where the setup finishes.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Myla in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. Every later step that uses Myla, in this Zap and the next ones, reuses that single connection.

First Zap

Your first Myla Zap: new conversations to chat and a log

GoalEach time Myla receives a new conversation, alert the support channel in your team chat and log it in a spreadsheet.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and pick the trigger

Create a new Zap, choose Myla as the app and New Conversation as the event, then select the Myla connection you added earlier.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your Myla account, so you map fields from a real conversation, not a blank sample.

  3. 03

    Add the chat message

Add an action with your team chat tool and its send message event. Put in the fields from the Myla step that help someone decide who answers.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet row

Add a second action for your spreadsheet. That makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. On the free plan, keep only the chat message.

  5. 05

    Test each step, then publish

Run each action once and check the message in chat and the new row in the sheet. When both look right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Triggers

Myla triggers: two instant, one on a timer

3 events start a Zap when something happens in Myla, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Contact

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a contact is created.”

Picks up each contact created in Myla. It is the way to copy new people into the tools where you keep customer lists or follow-ups.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
add each new Myla contact to a shared spreadsheet.
Watch out
Zapier keeps track of the contacts it has already seen, so the same one does not start the Zap twice; contacts that existed before the Zap was on are not picked up.
2

New Conversation

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a conversation is received.”

Fires when Myla receives a conversation. It catches the start of a support thread.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
post a heads-up in the support channel of your team chat so someone takes the thread.
Watch out
run the test to see what a conversation brings back before you map fields into other tools.
3

New Message

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a message is received.”

Runs every time Myla receives a message. Where New Conversation reacts to a new thread, this one reacts to each message Myla receives.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
keep a running log of incoming messages in a spreadsheet, one row per message.
Watch out
every run that completes an action costs a task, so check at the test step what a message brings back before adding steps.
Actions

Myla actions: keep contacts tidy

Myla gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Tag to Contact

Action

In Zapier“Adds an existing tag to a contact.”

Puts an existing tag on a Myla contact. It needs a Contact ID and a Tag ID, both required.

When to use it
mark contacts by source or plan so your support team sorts them at a glance.
Watch out
it does not create the tag; make it in Myla first, and let Find Contact supply the contact.
2

Create or Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Creates a contact or updates a matching email or phone.”

Creates a contact in Myla, or updates the one that already matches the same email or phone. One step covers both cases.

When to use it
people sign up on a form or in another tool and should exist in Myla before they write in.
Watch out
the match is made on email or phone, so check at the test step which existing contact gets updated.
Searches

Myla search: find a contact first

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Myla, so a later step can use it.

A search step finds something that already exists so the next steps can use it. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Adding one makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

1

Find Contact

Search

In Zapier“Finds a contact by exact email address.”

Looks a Myla contact up by exact email address, the only required field. What it finds feeds the steps after it.

When to use it
right before Add Tag to Contact, so the tag lands on the right person.
Watch out
it needs the exact email, so a typo or a different address finds nothing.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
On apps that offer it, this box turns a search into a find-or-create. Myla publishes no find-or-create variant for Find Contact.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When it breaks

When a Myla Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Myla and lists no limit of its own for it. What can go wrong comes from how Zaps work in general.

  • Old conversations never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Conversations and contacts from before are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and burn through tasks.
  • A big batch held back

If a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • No double contacts from the trigger

On New Contact, a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same contact does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

Myla Zapier integration: your questions

01Is the Myla Zapier integration free?
Yes, you can start on the free plan, because Zapier does not class Myla as a premium app. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A new conversation posted to chat fits. Find Contact is a search step, though, and a Zap that uses it is multi-step, so it needs a paid plan, as does any Zap with a second action or a filter.
02How many tasks does a Myla Zap use?
One per action that completes, and nothing for the trigger. If New Conversation feeds one chat message, each conversation costs one task. Build the same thing on New Message instead and each message Myla receives costs one. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. A few apps and actions take more than one task, so read the test result before you publish. Remember that a search step such as Find Contact makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
03Does Myla trigger Zaps in real time?
Partly. New Conversation and New Message are instant triggers: Myla tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the Zap starts right away on any plan. New Contact is a polling trigger: Zapier checks for new contacts every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 on Professional, and every minute on Team and Enterprise. On paid plans you can change that interval, and also run a check by hand from the editor.
04What does it take to connect Myla to Zapier?
A Myla account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. Then open Apps in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for Myla, click Add connection, sign in to Myla in the new tab and grant Zapier access. You do it once, and every later step reuses that connection. If you plan to tag contacts, create the tags in Myla beforehand.
05Why does Find Contact come back empty?
Because it matches on the exact email address, its only required field. A typo or a different address than the one stored in Myla finds nothing. By default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and skips the steps that depended on it. If the Zap should carry on anyway, switch on Successful if no search results are found?. Test with a contact you know exists in Myla before publishing.
06What if the Myla operation you want is not available?
Then the Zap cannot do it directly. Myla currently offers three triggers, two actions and one search on Zapier, with no step to reply, close a conversation or remove a tag. The Myla page on zapier.com shows the current list of operations, so start there; Zapier also lists this integration as beta. When something is missing, split the work: let Myla send the event and let another tool handle the rest.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Myla?
Decide on criteria, not on a ranking. Coverage first: do three triggers, two contact actions and one search match your support flow? Then speed: the conversation and message triggers react right away on Zapier, while new contacts wait for the next check. Then cost: a search, a filter or a second action puts a Zap on a paid Zapier plan. Last, upkeep: who will fix the Zap when your tags change, and with which tool?
