Overview

What the Nectar Desk Zapier integration does for you

Nectar Desk is a communication platform used by sales teams, support teams and call centers. Linking it to Zapier means two things: a finished call can set off work in your other tools, and contacts collected elsewhere can land in the Nectar Desk CRM without anyone typing them twice.

A call log that fills itself. With Call Completed as the starting point, every call that ends can add a row to a shared spreadsheet. Which call details come through is something to read at the test step, not to guess.

Contacts that arrive from the outside. Create Contact adds a person to the Contacts list of the Nectar Desk CRM. Put it after a form, a sign-up sheet or any tool that collects names, and the record is already in Nectar Desk before the first call.

A heads-up for the team after a call. The same trigger can post a message in your team chat, so a colleague knows a conversation just ended and can follow up.

What Zapier does not do here: the integration stops at those two operations. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up a contact that already exists in Nectar Desk, and no action to change one. If you need more than that, see our n8n vs Zapier comparison, or our Zapier review for the bigger picture.

Vocabulary

The Zapier words, in one minute

Eight words carry the whole page. Each one is used exactly as below from here on.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for it and nothing runs before it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: it calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a scheduled check.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeping only the ones it has not seen.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Nectar Desk Zap really costs

Nectar Desk is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. The trigger never costs a task: only an action that goes through is counted.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps of two steps each
  • TriggerNever counted as a task
  • Failed actionNot counted against the plan
  • Premium appNo, available from the free plan

A Zap with Call Completed and one action fits the free plan. Add a filter or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan, and each action that succeeds counts on its own: a three-action Zap uses three times more than a one-action Zap. Looking for new events costs nothing. The interval grid below exists for polling triggers only; it does not apply to Call Completed, the instant trigger of this app.

Connect

Connect your Nectar Desk account

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your Nectar Desk account linked once, then reused by every step that uses the app.

  2. 02

    Find Nectar Desk

Type the app name in the dialog, pick Nectar Desk, then click Add connection. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A new tab opens on Nectar Desk. Sign in there, then grant Zapier access to the account. When the tab closes, the account is ready to pick in any Zap step.

First Zap

Your first Zap: log every completed call

GoalEach completed call that matches your condition adds a row to a shared spreadsheet, so the team reads one log instead of asking around.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Nectar Desk as the app that starts it and Call Completed as the event, then choose your connected account.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent calls of the account, so you map fields from a real one. Read what came back before going further.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Add a Filter step from the plus icon and set three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. A filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet row

Add the action in your spreadsheet tool and map the call fields from the test into the columns. Test the step and read what came back.

  5. 05

    Publish

Publish the Zap to switch it on. From then on, each completed call that passes the filter writes one row, and each row is one task.

Triggers

The Nectar Desk trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Nectar Desk, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Call Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“This Trigger is activated once Call is completed with Nectar Desk Platform”

This is the only event that starts a Nectar Desk Zap: a call has ended on the platform, and whatever you put after it runs once for that call.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
anything that should follow a conversation, such as logging the call, alerting a teammate or opening a follow-up in another tool.
Watch out
run the trigger test and read which call details come back before you map them, because the next steps can only use what the test shows.
Actions

The Nectar Desk action

Nectar Desk gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Contact

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Contact under CRM -->> Contacts”

Adds a new person to the Contacts list in the Nectar Desk CRM, filled from the steps that come before it.

When to use it
when names reach you through another tool and your team should find them in Nectar Desk.
Watch out
First Name is required, so map it to a step that carries one, and check the result at the test.
When it breaks

When a Nectar Desk Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Nectar Desk, so the cases below come from how every Zap behaves, plus the one required field of this app.

Keep these four cases in mind before you publish. When something does go wrong, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Old calls are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Calls completed before that moment never reach it, and moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your task count fast.
  • A sudden flood of events

When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold the Zap back.
  • Create Contact without a first name

First Name is a required field of Create Contact. Map it to a value that is always there, and confirm the result when you test the step.

FAQ

Nectar Desk and Zapier: common questions

01Is the Nectar Desk Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as the Zap stays at two steps. Nectar Desk is not a premium app, so it is available from the free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to one trigger and one action. Call Completed followed by one action fits that frame, and so does any other trigger followed by Create Contact. The moment you add a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. No price is quoted here because the plan grids change too often to publish.
02How many tasks does a Nectar Desk Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap built on Call Completed with a single action uses one task per completed call. If the Zap has three actions, each successful one counts on its own, so it uses three times more. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. Looking for new events costs nothing either. Before you publish, multiply the number of calls you expect by the number of actions in the Zap, and compare that with the task count of your plan.
03Does the Nectar Desk trigger run in real time?
Yes. Call Completed is an instant trigger: the app tells Zapier the moment a call ends, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. That type comes from the app itself and cannot be changed in the editor. The interval grid of the plans, 15 minutes on the free plan for instance, concerns polling triggers only, and Nectar Desk has none. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which is an easy way to confirm it.
04What do you need to connect a Nectar Desk account?
An account on Nectar Desk, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection is made once from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection: you pick Nectar Desk, sign in to it in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access. Every later step that uses Nectar Desk reuses that connection. If you plan to use Create Contact, check that the account you connect is one that can add contacts to the CRM.
05Why does Create Contact stop at the test?
The first thing to check is First Name, the one required field of Create Contact. If the step that feeds it has no first name to give, the action has nothing to fill that box with. Map First Name to a value that is always present in the trigger data, then run the test again and read what comes back. Remember that an action that fails is not counted as a task, so a failed test does not eat into your plan.
06What if the Nectar Desk operation you need is not there?
Then this integration cannot do it, and no setting will add it. The current list is the one shown on the Nectar Desk page of Zapier: today it holds one trigger, Call Completed, and one action, Create Contact, with no search. A Zap that needs to find an existing contact or change one has no step for that here. The honest options are to rethink the flow around what exists, or to look at a different automation tool for that part of the job.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Nectar Desk?
It depends on what you value. Zapier is the quickest way in when your need fits its two Nectar Desk operations, and a Zap of two steps runs on the free plan. If each call should set off several actions, look at how each tool counts usage, because Zapier bills every successful action. If you need an operation Zapier does not offer for Nectar Desk, check whether the other tools offer it before deciding. No tool wins on every criterion.
