Overview

What the Nerchr Zapier integration actually does for you

Nerchr is a marketing and CRM platform built around reporting and lead tracking. The Zapier integration links it to the other apps you use: when a contact is created or changed in Nerchr, a Zap (the automation you build on Zapier) can react, and other apps can push contacts back into Nerchr without anyone copying them by hand.

Three results people usually want from it. A reporting sheet that fills itself: New Contact sends every fresh contact to a spreadsheet row, so the numbers you report on are never a manual export behind. A contact base without doubles: Find Contact looks a person up by email before anything is written, and its find-or-create version adds the contact only when the search comes back empty. A record that follows the other tools: Update Contact rewrites an existing contact once a search has handed it the right Contact ID.

What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. There is no delete operation in the visible list, so removing a contact stays a job for Nerchr itself. A Zap never picks up the contacts you had before you switched it on. And Find Contact looks people up by email address, so the search always starts from an email you already have.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will meet in the editor. Each one is used on this page exactly as defined here.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap, such as a new contact in Nerchr. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like creating a contact.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those.
Instant vs polling trigger
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it everywhere else.
Search step
A step that looks up something already in an app, such as a contact, so the next steps can use what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Nerchr Zap really costs

Nerchr is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works from the free plan. What you pay for is tasks, and the shape of the Zap.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan tasks100 per month
  • Free plan ZapsUnlimited, two steps each
  • Nerchr triggers2 instant, 0 polling

The trigger never costs a task. Each action that succeeds counts once, so a Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps. Add Find Contact or a filter and the Zap becomes multi-step, which means a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers: both Nerchr triggers are instant, so it does not apply to them.

Connect

Connect your Nerchr account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Nerchr account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Nerchr

Type Nerchr in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. The connection is made once and every Zap step that uses Nerchr reuses it.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

A new tab opens on Nerchr. Sign in with the account whose contacts you want to automate, then grant Zapier access to it. Back in Zapier, the connection is ready for your first Zap.

First Zap

Your first Zap: new Nerchr contacts in a reporting sheet

GoalSend every new Nerchr contact that meets your condition to a spreadsheet row, so your lead report keeps itself current.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Nerchr as the app that starts it and New Contact as the event, then choose the Nerchr connection you just made.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent contacts of the connected account, so you map fields on a real contact instead of a blank one.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

From the plus icon, add a Filter step and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet row

Pick your spreadsheet tool and its new-row action, then map the contact fields from the trigger into your columns. Check at the test which fields actually come back.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test each step once and read what came back, then click Publish. Only contacts created after that moment go through, the existing ones stay where they are.

Triggers

Nerchr triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in Nerchr, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Contact

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new contact is created.”

Starts the Zap each time a contact is created in Nerchr, and hands its details to the steps that follow. It is the natural entry point for anything that should happen to a brand new lead: logging it, notifying someone, copying it to another tool.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you want a fresh lead to show up in your reporting sheet or another tool without waiting for a manual export.
Watch out
contacts that existed before you published the Zap are never sent, so a backlog needs a separate import.
2

Contact Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a contact is updated.”

Reacts when an existing Nerchr contact is changed, rather than when one is born. Use it when the change itself is the signal and other tools should hear about it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a contact record moves in Nerchr and a sheet or a message elsewhere should reflect it.
Watch out
this trigger asks for a required field, Contact Property, before it can be saved. Check at the test what the trigger actually returns.
Actions

Nerchr actions

Nerchr gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Contact

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new contact.”

Adds a new contact to Nerchr from whatever an earlier step brought in, such as a form answer or a row.

When to use it
leads are collected in another tool and you want them inside Nerchr for tracking.
Watch out
it creates every time it runs, so put Find Contact in front of it, or use the find-or-create version, if the same person can arrive twice.
2

Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Updates a contact.”

Rewrites a contact that already exists in Nerchr. It cannot guess which one: the Contact ID field is required.

When to use it
another tool holds fresher information about a person and Nerchr should catch up.
Watch out
place Find Contact just before it: that search can return the Contact ID this action needs.
Searches

The Nerchr search

1 search step looks for data that already exists in Nerchr, so a later step can use it.

A search step finds a contact that already exists so later steps can use it. In the editor it sits at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not a single clean match.

1

Find Contact

SearchFind or create

In Zapier“Search for a contact by email.”

Looks a Nerchr contact up by email address, which is the required field, and passes what it found to the next steps, Contact ID included.

When to use it
right before Update Contact, or before Create Contact to avoid doubles.
Watch out
the editor also shows Find or Create a Contact. It is not another operation, it is this same search with the create box ticked.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, an empty search stops the Zap there and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking it turns the search into a find-or-create: the setting above disappears and Zapier asks for the fields needed to create the missing contact.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out: keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all the matches on at once.
When it breaks

When a Nerchr Zap breaks

Zapier publishes no help article specific to Nerchr. The cases below come from how every Zap behaves, applied to a contact base.

  • Old contacts never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Contacts already in Nerchr are not picked up, and moving them is a separate import.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

A Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and burn through tasks. Check any Zap that writes back into Nerchr.
  • A bulk import held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • The search comes back empty

With the default setting, a Find Contact that matches no email stops the Zap, and the steps after it are skipped without writing anything.

FAQ

Nerchr Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the Nerchr Zapier integration free?
Yes, to start with. Nerchr is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps. The catch is size: on the free plan each Zap is limited to two steps, one trigger and one action. New Contact feeding a spreadsheet row fits. As soon as you add Find Contact, a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan, so the Find then Update pattern is a paid setup.
02How many tasks does a Nerchr Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap where New Contact creates a row uses one task per new contact. If the same Zap also posts a message, that is two tasks per contact, since every successful action is counted on its own. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. Looking for new data costs nothing either: only a completed action is billed. Keep that in mind before you chain several actions on every contact update.
03Does Nerchr work in real time with Zapier?
Yes. Both Nerchr triggers, New Contact and Contact Updated, are instant: Nerchr tells Zapier the moment the event happens and the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The interval grid of the plans, from 15 minutes on Free down to 1 on Team, is meant for polling triggers, so it does not apply here. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. This type is set by the app itself and cannot be switched from Zapier.
04What does it take to connect Nerchr to Zapier?
A Nerchr account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection is made once from the Apps page of your Zapier account: you add a connection, pick Nerchr, sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. Every Zap that uses Nerchr then reuses that same connection. Before building, check that the contacts you will search carry an email address, since Find Contact searches by email.
05Why does Update Contact ask for a Contact ID?
Because the action has to know which contact to rewrite, and Contact ID is a required field. Nobody types that ID by hand: the usual way is to put Find Contact just before Update Contact, search by email, and map the Contact ID it returns into the update step. That makes the Zap three steps long, so it needs a paid plan. If the search can come back empty, decide with its settings whether the Zap stops there or carries on.
06What if a Nerchr operation is missing from Zapier?
Check the Nerchr page on Zapier first: it shows the current list of triggers, actions and searches, and nothing outside it can be selected in the editor. Today that is New Contact, Contact Updated, Create Contact, Update Contact and Find Contact. If what you are after is missing, such as removing a contact, the work stays in Nerchr itself, or you look at whether Make or n8n offer that operation for Nerchr before you build anything.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Nerchr?
Decide by criteria rather than by brand. On Zapier, Nerchr works on the free plan with instant triggers and a two-step Zap fits the free plan. The criteria to check on Make and n8n are whether they list Nerchr at all, which operations they expose, and how they bill a run compared with Zapier's task per successful action. Compare those three points against your own contact volume before you choose a platform.
