NEXT Zapier integrationAutomate NEXT with Zapier.
The NEXT Zapier integration offers 0 triggers, 3 actions and 1 search. NEXT never starts a Zap itself: another app does, then Zapier creates an account, a highlight or a recording in NEXT, or finds an account that already exists.

What the NEXT Zapier integration does
NEXT is a product discovery platform for teams, with AI built in: it helps check product decisions, big and small, against what users actually say. Connected to Zapier, it receives data from a Zap (an automation you set up once: one trigger, then one or more actions). Data flows one way, into NEXT.
Three results you can build. User feedback turned into evidence: each answer to your feedback form becomes a highlight in NEXT through Create Highlight, which only insists on a Text value. Recordings gathered in one place: what another tool captures can be added to NEXT as a recording with Create Recording, after a check at the test of what the step expects. And an account created in NEXT through Create Account, with Find Account to look one up when a later step needs it. Zapier does not say what an account holds in NEXT, and lists no field for either step, so the test is where you see what they ask for and return.
What Zapier does not do for NEXT. It has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing that happens inside NEXT can start a Zap: no new highlight, no new recording, no new account. It has no action to update or delete what it created, so every run adds something. And Find Account has no find-or-create variant, so a Zap cannot create the account only when the search comes back empty.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight terms come back across this page. Here they are in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation itself: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. NEXT has none on Zapier, so the trigger always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here inside NEXT.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One action that completes successfully is one task, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer for new items. An instant trigger is reported by its app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, such as an account in NEXT, so later steps can use what it found.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter, a search or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a NEXT Zap really costs
NEXT is not one of the apps Zapier keeps for paid plans, so a simple Zap with it runs on the free plan.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
- BilledEach successful action, never the trigger
- Paid plan needed forFind Account, a filter or a second action
The trigger never costs a task, and neither does checking for new data. Each NEXT action that succeeds counts as one task; an action that fails is not counted. The free plan builds two-step Zaps only: another app's trigger plus one NEXT action fits. Find Account is a search step, so any Zap using it is multi-step and needs a paid plan, like a Zap with a filter or a second action. The interval grid below applies to the polling trigger of the app that starts your Zap, since NEXT has no trigger of its own.
Connect NEXT to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need a NEXT account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 02
Pick NEXT
Type NEXT in the search box of the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens so you can reach your NEXT account.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to NEXT in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The three actions and the search of every Zap you build then reuse this one connection.
Your first Zap: feedback form answers become NEXT highlights
GoalEach answer to your feedback form becomes a highlight in NEXT, in a two-step Zap that fits the free plan.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Create a Zap and choose your form app with its new-response event. Testing it brings back the three most recent answers, so you map fields on a real one.
- 02
Keep it at two steps
One trigger and one action is all the free plan builds, and this Zap needs nothing more. If you later want only some answers to go through, a Filter step does that, but it makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
- 03
Add the NEXT action
Choose NEXT and Create Highlight, select your connection, then map the answer you want to keep into the required Text field.
- 04
Test the action
Run the step once and read what came back. If Text holds the wrong answer or nothing at all, fix the mapping now rather than after publishing.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Only answers that arrive after this point become highlights; earlier answers stay in your form.
The 3 NEXT actions
NEXT gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Account
ActionIn Zapier“Creates an account in NEXT”
Creates an account in NEXT from data held in another tool. Zapier does not describe what a NEXT account contains and lists no required field for this step, so open it in the editor and see what it offers.
Create Highlight
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a highlight in NEXT”
Creates a highlight in NEXT, built around the text you send. Text is the only field it requires.
Create Recording
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a recording in NEXT”
Creates a recording in NEXT from what an earlier step hands over, so material captured in another tool joins the rest of your discovery work.
The NEXT search
1 search step looks for data that already exists in NEXT, so a later step can use it.
A search step finds something that already exists in NEXT and passes it to the next steps. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not one clean match.
Find Account
SearchIn Zapier“Find an account in NEXT”
Looks up an account that already exists in NEXT and hands it to the steps that follow, so they can work with that account instead of starting blind.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that depended on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet?Ticking this turns a search into a find-or-create. Find Account has no find-or-create variant on Zapier, so this box is not offered for it.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out: keep the first match (the default), stop the Zap, or hand all the matches on at once.
When a NEXT Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to NEXT and lists no limit of its own, so the cases below are the general limits of any Zap that feeds it.
Each case fits in a few lines. If a run fails for another reason, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Nothing from before publishing
A Zap only reacts to events after it is switched on. Answers, files or entries that existed before are not sent to NEXT; moving that backlog is a separate job.Writing where the trigger watches
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and use up tasks fast.A sudden batch can be held back
After a bulk import or a migration in the source app, the trigger may return a huge batch at once, and Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. The same item does not fire twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not launch the Zap twice.
