Overview

What the Nimriz Zapier integration actually does

Nimriz is a link management tool: branded short links, QR codes and click analytics on your own domains. The Zapier integration lets another app create or edit those links for you, and lets Nimriz tell your other tools when a link is clicked, scanned, created or changed.

A log of every new link. New Link Created fires each time someone in your workspace makes a short link, so a spreadsheet or a project tool can keep a running record without anyone copying URLs by hand.

Short links made from another app. Create Short Link takes a domain and a destination URL from an earlier step and builds the link, which means a new row, a new form entry or a new record can come out the other side with its own short URL. Add Check Slug Availability first if you want a custom slug and need to know it is free.

Campaign links that change on cue. Update Link Destination, Update Link Slug, Update Link Expiration and Remove Link Password edit a link that already exists. Pair them with Find Link so the Zap knows which link to touch.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no action to delete a link and no action to add a password (only to remove one). Those stay in Nimriz itself.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

If you have never built a Zap, these eight terms are all you need to read the rest of the page.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here a click, a scan or a link change.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or changes something for you, such as creating a short link.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself: Nimriz calls Zapier the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a scheduled check.
Polling trigger
The other kind: Zapier asks the app for new items on a timer. None of the Nimriz triggers works this way.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists, such as a link, so the next steps can use what it found.
Cost

What a Nimriz Zap costs you

Nimriz is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger never costs a task: a click or a scan that starts the Zap is free.

  • TriggerFree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Filter or searchMakes the Zap multi-step, paid plan

Each action that succeeds counts as one task, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and builds Zaps of two steps only, one trigger and one action. Add a filter, a search or a second action and you have a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger; it does not apply to the four Nimriz triggers, which are all instant.

Connect

Connect your Nimriz account to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the connection dialog

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Nimriz account linked once, then reused by every step that uses Nimriz.

  2. 02

    Pick Nimriz

Type Nimriz in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an account on Nimriz, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

A new tab opens on Nimriz. Sign in there and grant Zapier access to the account. Once that is done, the connection is ready for any trigger, action or search of the app.

First Zap

Your first Nimriz Zap: log the clicks that matter

GoalEach click on a Nimriz short link that meets your condition adds a row to your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and set the trigger

Start a new Zap, pick Nimriz and Link Clicked, then choose your connection. It is an instant trigger, so the editor shows a lightning bolt next to it.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account. Read which details of the click come back before you build anything on them.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a Filter step and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. Pick them from what the test returned. A filter needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet row

Choose your spreadsheet tool and its create-row action. Map the click details you saw at test into the columns, then test the step once to see the row it writes.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, each matching click writes a row. Clicks from before you published are not sent to the Zap.

Triggers

Nimriz triggers in Zapier

4 events start a Zap when something happens in Nimriz, and 4 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

4

QR Code Scanned

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a QR code is scanned (bot traffic excluded).”

Goes off each time someone scans one of your Nimriz QR codes. As with clicks, the app excludes bot traffic before it tells Zapier.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you print codes on packaging or posters and want each scan recorded somewhere your team already looks.
Watch out
check at test which details about the scan come back before you build the next step on them.
Actions

Nimriz actions in Zapier

Nimriz gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

2

Remove Link Password

Action

In Zapier“Removes password protection from a short link. Use this to unlock a link at the end of a campaign or gated period.”

Lifts the password protection from a short link so anyone with the URL can open it.

When to use it
content kept behind a password during a preview opens to everyone at the end of that period.
Watch out
there is no action to add a password back; that is done in Nimriz.
3

Update Link Destination

Action

In Zapier“Changes the destination URL on an existing short link.”

Points an existing short link to a new destination URL, so the link you already shared sends people somewhere else.

When to use it
a landing page moves and the link already shared should follow it.
Watch out
it needs the Link and the New Destination URL, so put a Find Link step before it.
4

Update Link Expiration

Action

In Zapier“Sets, changes, or removes the expiration on a short link.”

Sets an expiration on a short link, changes the one it has, or removes it, all from the same action.

When to use it
the end date of an offer is decided in another tool and the link expiration should follow it.
Watch out
only the Link is required; test the step and look at the link in Nimriz before you publish.
5

Update Link Slug

Action

In Zapier“Changes the slug on an existing short link.”

Gives an existing short link a new slug, the part people read after the domain.

When to use it
a slug was created in a hurry and needs a cleaner name before a launch.
Watch out
the Link and the New Slug are required; run Check Slug Availability first if you are not sure the new slug is free.
Searches

Nimriz searches in Zapier

4 search steps look for data that already exists in Nimriz, so a later step can use it.

Searches sit at the bottom of the action list in the editor, under the SEARCH heading. Each one adds a step, so a Zap that uses one is multi-step and needs a paid plan. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not a single clean match.

1

Check Slug Availability

Search

In Zapier“Checks if a slug is available on a specific domain.”

Asks Nimriz whether a slug is still free on a given domain, before any step tries to use it.

When to use it
slugs come from a form or a sheet, and a taken one should not break the run.
Watch out
Domain and Slug are both required, and a filter after it is what turns the answer into a decision.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that depended on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
Ticking it turns a search into a find-or-create. No Nimriz search offers this variant, so you will not see the box on this app.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on.
When it breaks

When a Nimriz Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Nimriz, so the cases below are the general limits of any Zap, applied to this app.

  • Old clicks and links are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Clicks, scans and links from before that are not sent, and moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that keeps setting itself off

A Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through tasks. Keep the trigger and the action on different things.
  • A burst after a bulk import

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • A search that finds nothing

By default, a search with no result stops the Zap and skips the steps that needed it. Turn on Successful if no search results are found? only if the next steps cope without it.

FAQ

Nimriz Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Nimriz Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as your Zap stays at two steps. Nimriz is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to one trigger and one action. A Nimriz trigger followed by Create Short Link, or any single action, fits. The moment you add one of the four searches, a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. So the free plan covers the triggers and the actions one at a time, not the searches.
02How many tasks does a Nimriz Zap use?
One per successful action, every time the Zap runs. The trigger itself is free, so a click or a scan that starts the Zap costs nothing on its own. If the Zap then writes a row and updates a link, that run costs two tasks. An action that fails is not counted. The thing to watch on this app is volume: Link Clicked and QR Code Scanned start a run for every click or scan, so a busy link multiplies your task count by the number of actions in the Zap.
03Does Nimriz trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. All four triggers, Link Clicked, New Link Created, Link Updated and QR Code Scanned, are instant: Nimriz tells Zapier the moment the event happens and the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The interval grid of the plans only applies to polling triggers, and Nimriz has none. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. If you are on the free plan, this is the part that changes nothing for you: clicks and scans arrive as fast as on any paid plan.
04What does it take to connect Nimriz to Zapier?
An account on Nimriz, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection itself takes three moves: open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection, search for Nimriz and click Add connection, then sign in to Nimriz in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The same connection then serves every Nimriz trigger, action and search in all your Zaps.
05Does Link Clicked count bot clicks?
No. The official description of Link Clicked says bot traffic is excluded, and QR Code Scanned says the same for scans. What reaches Zapier is what Nimriz counts as a human click or scan. That matters for cost: every click that does arrive starts a run, and every successful action in that run is a task. On a busy campaign link, count on one run per human click and size your plan with that in mind.
06What if the Nimriz action you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it for you on this app today. The editor offers only the triggers, actions and searches shown on the Nimriz app page on Zapier, which is the place to check the current list. Deleting a link or adding a password, for example, are not among them. You can still use a search step to fetch data, or keep the missing part as a manual step in Nimriz and let the Zap handle the rest.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Nimriz?
It depends on what you value. Zapier gives you four instant triggers, five actions and four searches ready to use, and one connection serves all of them. Make and n8n are worth a look when your scenario needs many steps, because on Zapier each extra step is a multi-step Zap on a paid plan and each successful action is a task. Whether those tools offer a ready Nimriz module is something to check on their side before you choose.
