NextStage Zapier integrationAutomate NextStage with Zapier.
The NextStage Zapier integration has 3 triggers, 0 actions and 0 searches. Each opportunity created, updated or deleted in your pipelines can start a Zap that sends it to a sheet, a chat or an email. All three triggers are instant, the app is not premium, and it runs on the free plan.

What the NextStage Zapier integration is for
NextStage is a CRM built for government contractors. On Zapier it exposes three events around the opportunities in your pipelines: one created, one updated, one deleted. Linking the two lets each change in the pipeline start work in the tools your team already uses, without someone copying it over.
Three results people set up. A pipeline log in a spreadsheet: Opportunity Created adds a row for each new opportunity, so the list lives somewhere everyone can open. A team that follows the deals: Opportunity Update posts a message in your team chat when an opportunity changes. A clean-up signal: Opportunity Deleted tells the other tools that an opportunity is gone, so they stop tracking it.
The good news for a free plan: all three triggers are instant. NextStage tells Zapier itself when an opportunity changes, so the Zap does not wait for a check and the plan's interval grid does not apply.
What Zapier does not do here. NextStage has no action and no search on Zapier, so no Zap can create, edit or look up an opportunity inside NextStage: the flow only goes out. And a Zap ignores what happened in your pipelines before it was switched on.
Before picking a tool for this, see our n8n vs Zapier comparison.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
A handful of Zapier words come back on this page. Here they are in plain English, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, like an opportunity created in NextStage. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in another tool.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant one is reported by the app the moment it happens. All NextStage triggers are instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a NextStage Zap really costs
Zapier bills tasks, not Zaps. A NextStage trigger never costs a task, however many opportunities move through your pipelines.
- TriggersInstant, never billed
- Successful action1 task each
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo
Only the actions in your other tools count: each one that goes through is one task, and one that fails is not counted. A Zap that adds a row and posts in chat uses two tasks per opportunity. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. NextStage is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The grid below gives Zapier's polling interval per plan; it does not apply to the NextStage triggers, which are all instant.
Connect your NextStage account to Zapier
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. In the dialog that opens, type NextStage in the search box and pick it from the results.
- 02
Sign in to NextStage
Click Add connection, then sign in to NextStage in the tab that opens. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
- 03
Grant access
Allow Zapier to reach the account. The connection is saved once and reused by every Zap that starts from a NextStage opportunity, so you do it a single time.
Your first NextStage Zap, step by step
GoalEach new opportunity gets a row in your pipeline spreadsheet, then a message in your team chat.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap, choose NextStage as the trigger app and Opportunity Created as the event. Connect your account if Zapier asks for it.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent opportunities of your account, so you map a real one. Read what came back before going further.
- 03
Log the opportunity
Add your spreadsheet as the action and map the values from the test into its columns. With just these two steps, the Zap runs on the free plan.
- 04
Alert the team
Add a second action that posts in your team chat. The Zap becomes multi-step, so it needs a paid plan, and each opportunity now uses two tasks.
- 05
Test, then publish
Run each step once and read what came back before going on. When the row and the message look right, publish the Zap to switch it on.
The 3 NextStage triggers
3 events start a Zap when something happens in NextStage, and 3 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Opportunity Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new Opportunity is added to one of your pipelines.”
Starts a Zap when a new opportunity is added to one of your NextStage pipelines. It is the entry point for anything that should happen as soon as a deal appears.
Opportunity Deleted
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an opportunity is deleted in one of your pipelines.”
Fires once an opportunity is deleted from one of your pipelines. It lets the other tools clean up behind NextStage instead of keeping deals that no longer exist.
Opportunity Update
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when an opportunity in your pipelines is updated.”
Reacts when an opportunity in your pipelines is updated. It suits Zaps that keep another tool in step with the life of each deal rather than ones about new deals.
When a NextStage Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to NextStage, and no limit specific to the app has been recorded. What follows are the general Zapier limits that still apply to instant triggers.
Keep these three cases in mind before you publish. When a Zap does stop, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Past opportunities stay behind
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Opportunities already in your pipelines are not sent; moving that history is a separate job.A Zap that restarts itself
As a general rule, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and burn through the task count.A sudden flood held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration into NextStage, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
