Obviously AI Zapier integrationAutomate Obviously AI with Zapier.
The Obviously AI Zapier integration has 2 actions and no trigger, no search step. It runs your trained models on fresh data: an AutoML prediction or a time series forecast. Another app has to start the Zap, and Obviously AI is not a premium app.

What the Obviously AI Zapier integration is for
Obviously AI lets a business team build prediction models from its own historical data, without writing code. Zapier is what feeds those models. The integration sends new data from another app to a model you already trained, and hands the answer back to the next step of your automation.
Three results teams aim for. A score on every new lead: a form or CRM entry starts the Zap, AutoML Predict runs your model on it, and the score lands next to the lead before anyone calls. A churn flag on each new account event: same action, different model, and the answer drives who gets a check-in. A forecast on demand: Timeseries Forecast asks your time series model for the period you choose, and the numbers go to a sheet or a message for whoever plans stock or staffing.
Now the limits. There is no trigger at all: Obviously AI cannot start a Zap, so something else always has to. There is no search step either. And Zapier does not build or retrain models for you: both actions need a model that already exists in your Obviously AI account, picked by its id. Data uploads and model training stay in Obviously AI.

Zapier words, in one minute
A few words come back all over this page. Here they are without jargon.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Obviously AI has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started. Here, it is the step that asks your model for a prediction or a forecast.
- Task
- What Zapier bills. One task is one action that completed successfully, and your plan counts those every month.
- Instant vs polling
- An instant trigger is reported by its app straight away. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer set by your plan.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap carry on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app so later steps can use it. Obviously AI offers none.
- Connection
- Your Obviously AI account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap step that calls one of your models.
What an Obviously AI Zap really costs
The trigger, from whichever app starts the Zap, is free. Each prediction that comes back is billed.
- TriggerNever costs a task
- Successful prediction1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo, it works on the free plan
One successful action is one task. A failed action is not counted. If your Zap predicts, then writes the score back somewhere, that is two actions and two tasks per run. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap: one trigger, one action. Writing the prediction back therefore needs a paid plan, because it makes the Zap multi-step. How fast the Zap reacts depends on the starting app: if its trigger is a polling one, the grid below sets the wait.
Connect your Obviously AI account in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an Obviously AI account, and access to any model you did not build yourself but want a Zap to call.
- 02
Find Obviously AI
Type Obviously AI in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the list, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Obviously AI side so you can log in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to Obviously AI in that tab and let Zapier reach the account. The connection then appears in your Apps list, and every Zap that calls a model reuses it.
Your first Zap: score each new row of a sheet
GoalEvery time a row lands in a sheet, run your AutoML model on it and write the prediction back on a second sheet.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap. Pick the app that holds your new data as the trigger, here a sheet, and connect it. This step is the part Obviously AI cannot provide.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of that account, so you map the columns on a real row instead of guessing their names.
- 03
Add the prediction
Pick Obviously AI, then AutoML Predict, choose the model by its id and map each column the model expects from the row. Test it and read the answer.
- 04
Store the answer
Add a last step that writes the prediction into a second sheet. Use a different sheet from the one that starts the Zap, or every write starts a new run.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch it on. With two actions, this Zap is multi-step and runs on a paid plan. On the free plan, keep only the prediction step.
The 2 Obviously AI actions
Obviously AI gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Timeseries Forecast
ActionIn Zapier“Make a Forecast using your Timeseries model”
Asks a time series model for the future values over a period you set, so a forecast lands where your planning team works without anyone opening the tool.
AutoML Predict
ActionIn Zapier“Make a prediction using your AutoML model”
Sends one record to an AutoML model you trained and returns its prediction, ready for the next step: a score, a class, a likely outcome.
When an Obviously AI Zap breaks
Zapier lists no help article and no rate limit specific to Obviously AI. The failures that show up are Zapier's general ones, and with data pipelines they hit fast.
Four cases come back again and again. For anything else, the Zapier troubleshooting page goes through the usual causes one by one.
Old rows never get a score
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Records already in the sheet are not picked up; scoring the backlog is a separate job.The prediction loops
Writing the prediction into the same sheet the trigger watches sets the Zap off again and again, and every loop burns a task.A bulk import is held back
Pasting thousands of rows at once can hand the trigger a huge batch. Zapier's flood protection may then hold the batch instead of running it.The Zap will not publish on free
Predict then write back is two actions, so a multi-step Zap. The free plan stops at one trigger and one action, so publishing asks for a paid plan.
