OHWO Zapier integrationAutomate OHWO with Zapier.

The OHWO Zapier integration boils down to 1 trigger and 1 action, no search. The trigger is a polling one, so how fast a new subscriber reaches your Zap depends on your plan. Here is what both operations do, what they cost and where they go wrong.

Overview

What the OHWO Zapier integration does for your store

OHWO is an email marketing platform made only for ecommerce businesses. Connected to Zapier, it does two things: it can start an automation when someone new subscribes to one of your lists, and it can add a subscriber to a list from any other app, so your mailing lists fill themselves.

Two operations, three useful results. Every buyer on your list: Create Subscriber takes an email from your checkout, a quiz or a spreadsheet and puts it on the OHWO list you choose. Your other tools told about new subscribers: New Subscriber fires for each newcomer on a list, so a CRM, a sheet or a team chat hears about it without anyone exporting a file. One list feeding another: put both together and a subscriber to your welcome list can also land on a second list, say your launch announcements.

What Zapier does not do for OHWO: it does not send a campaign, it cannot update or unsubscribe someone, and there is no search step to check whether an address is already on a list. And because the trigger is a polling one, a new subscriber is noticed at the next check, not the second they sign up.

If you are still choosing an automation platform, weigh Zapier against the other two first: Make vs Zapier and n8n vs Zapier.

Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Seven terms, explained once in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier keeps watching for it.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that creates, writes or sends something for you in an app.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is counted in tasks.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer; an instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. OHWO's is polling.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the data meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your OHWO account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every OHWO step in every Zap you build.
Cost

What an OHWO Zap costs

OHWO is open to the free plan: Zapier does not reserve it for paid accounts. The trigger never costs a task, and neither do Zapier's regular checks of your list.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan limitTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Paid plan required? No, OHWO runs on the free plan
  • OHWO triggerPolling, checked every 15 minutes on the free plan

Each successful action counts as one task; one that fails is not billed. On the free plan, a Zap holds two steps, one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action and it becomes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Unlike many small integrations, the plan grid matters here: OHWO's trigger is polled, so your plan sets how often Zapier looks for new subscribers. A New Subscriber to Create Subscriber Zap costs one task per subscriber copied.

Connect

Connect OHWO to Zapier

  1. 01

    Start from the Apps page

Open Apps in your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need an OHWO account already, since Zapier links to an existing account and never creates one for you.

  2. 02

    Pick OHWO

Search for OHWO in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on OHWO's side, and that is where you sign in, not inside Zapier itself.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to OHWO in that tab and let Zapier reach your account. The connection now sits in your Apps list, ready for both the trigger and the action in any Zap.

First Zap

Your first OHWO Zap: copy welcome-list subscribers to your launch list

GoalEach new subscriber on your welcome list is also added to the list you use for product launches, without a manual export.

  1. 01

    Build: choose the trigger

Create a Zap, pick OHWO and the New Subscriber event. Select your connection, then the welcome list in the required list field so Zapier knows where to look.

  2. 02

    Test on real subscribers

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent subscribers of that list; pick a real one so the mapping in the next steps uses true values.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Click the plus icon, choose Filter, and let the Zap go on only when an email came through, since Create Subscriber requires one. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Create Subscriber

Add OHWO again with Create Subscriber. Pick the launch list, never the welcome list itself, and map the email from the trigger into the action.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action and check the launch list in OHWO. If the subscriber is there, click Publish to switch the Zap on for good.

Triggers

OHWO trigger: 1 polling event

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in OHWO. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Subscriber

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when a new subscriber is created”

Starts a Zap each time someone new joins the OHWO list you picked. You choose one list per Zap, so a shopper who signs up for your newsletter can trigger one flow while a buyer added after checkout triggers another.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
log each new subscriber in a sheet your marketing team reviews, or post a note in your team chat when a VIP list grows.
Watch out
the list field is required, and a Zap that adds subscribers to that same list will keep firing itself.
Actions

OHWO action: add a subscriber from any app

OHWO gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Subscriber

Action

In Zapier“Add subcriber to Zapier”

Adds an email address to the OHWO list you choose, whatever app sends it. Two inputs are required: the list and the email, so even a bare form entry is enough.

When to use it
a buyer from your store, a giveaway entry or a quiz result should end up on a mailing list without a CSV export.
Watch out
nothing here checks whether the address is already on the list before adding it.
When it breaks

When an OHWO Zap breaks

Zapier lists no help article and no rate limit specific to OHWO. The failures come from general Zapier behaviour, and from the polling trigger in particular.

If a Zap keeps failing and you want a hand, start from our Zapier troubleshooting page. These four cases cover most surprises with OHWO.

  • No backlog

A Zap only reacts to subscribers who join after it is switched on. Everyone already on the list is ignored; moving them is a separate job.
  • The same-list loop

Watch a list with New Subscriber and add to that same list with Create Subscriber: each new subscriber sets the Zap off again and burns through tasks.
  • Big imports held back

Import a large file of contacts into a watched list and the next check returns a huge batch. Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • No double starts

Zapier remembers which subscribers it has already seen on this polling trigger, so the same person does not start the Zap twice.

FAQ

OHWO Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the OHWO Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the free plan, as long as the Zap stays at two steps. Zapier does not reserve OHWO for paid accounts, so a free plan with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps can use it. The limit is the shape of the Zap: one trigger and one action, nothing more. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The trigger itself never costs a task.
02How many tasks does an OHWO Zap use?
One task each time an action completes, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that listens to New Subscriber and runs Create Subscriber costs one task per subscriber copied. A second action doubles that. An action that fails is not billed. Zapier's regular checks of your list cost nothing either, however often they run, because only completed actions count toward the monthly allowance of your plan. Each copied subscriber is one more task on the counter.
03Is the OHWO trigger real time?
No. New Subscriber is a polling trigger: Zapier asks OHWO for new subscribers at a fixed interval, and that interval depends on your plan. On the free plan it checks every 15 minutes, on Professional every 2 minutes, on Team and Enterprise every minute. On paid plans you can also change how often it checks and run a check by hand from the editor. The type comes from OHWO itself and cannot be switched to instant.
04What does it take to connect OHWO to Zapier?
An existing OHWO account and at least one list ready to use. From the Apps page in Zapier, add a connection, pick OHWO, sign in on OHWO's side and grant access. Both operations then ask for a list in a required field: the trigger needs the list to watch, the action the list to fill. If the list does not exist yet in OHWO, create it there first, then come back to the Zap.
05Why does an OHWO Zap keep firing on its own?
Usually because it watches and writes to the same list. New Subscriber picks up each newcomer, Create Subscriber adds one to that list, and the next check sees a new subscriber again. Every round costs a task, so the monthly allowance drains fast. Point the action at a different list from the one the trigger watches, and test with a real subscriber before you publish, to confirm the loop is gone.
06What if the OHWO operation needed is not in Zapier?
Then this integration cannot do it as published. The editor offers two operations only, New Subscriber and Create Subscriber, with no way to update a subscriber, remove one, send a campaign or check whether an address is already on a list. Sometimes another design gets around it, for example handling the step in the tool upstream. Otherwise, do it inside OHWO or check whether another automation platform exposes more of it.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for OHWO?
It depends on your criteria. Zapier has a ready OHWO integration with the gentlest setup, but its trigger is polled on a plan-based interval, multi-step Zaps need a paid plan and you pay per completed action. Make and n8n bill differently and leave more room for branching logic, at the price of a steeper learning curve. Check first which OHWO operations each platform exposes, then compare how each one would bill your subscriber volume.
