Overview

What the Owloops Zapier integration is good for

With Owloops, you teach your browser a routine once and it repeats it for you, with little or no code. Its automations are called birds, and running one is flying it. Linking Owloops to Zapier does two things: Zapier hears when a bird completes a flight, and any other app can ask Owloops to fly a bird and hand back the results.

Three outcomes worth building. First, a relay of birds: On Bird Fly Complete listens to one bird, and Fly a Bird sends the next one off, so a sequence runs without you watching the browser. Second, results that land where your team works: when a bird completes, its output goes on to a spreadsheet or a team channel connected to Zapier. Third, a bird on demand: a form, a CRM or a calendar starts the Zap, and Fly a Bird runs the bird you picked, then passes its results to the next step.

What Zapier does not do here: it cannot create or edit a bird, it has no search step for Owloops, and it reports only completed flights, not other events. The trigger is instant, which is the good news. The building happens in Owloops; Zapier only starts birds and listens to them. Each Zap also follows a single bird, chosen by name, so three birds to watch means three Zaps.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Seven words keep coming back on this page. Here they are once, so the rest reads without a dictionary.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for that event and nothing else.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something in an app on your behalf.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those and only those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, the moment it happens. A polling trigger is checked on a timer, and Zapier keeps what is new.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and quietly stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Owloops account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step in every Zap that touches Owloops.
Cost

What a Zap with Owloops really costs

Owloops is not reserved for paid plans, so the free plan is enough to try it. You pay in tasks, and only actions spend them.

  • Bird completes a flight0 tasks
  • Successful Fly a Bird1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2 steps per Zap
  • Owloops on the free planYes

On Bird Fly Complete costs nothing, and because it is instant, the check interval of your plan does not apply to it. Each Fly a Bird that goes through is one task; a failed one is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan. A few apps and actions take more than one task, though nothing here marks Fly a Bird as one of them.

Connect

Connect your Owloops account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an Owloops account, plus access to any bird you did not build yourself but want the Zap to fly.

  2. 02

    Find Owloops and add it

Type Owloops in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. Zapier then opens a new tab on the Owloops side for the sign-in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Owloops in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once, and every Owloops step in every Zap reuses it afterwards.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a relay of two birds

GoalWhen one bird completes its flight, a second bird takes off with no one in front of the browser.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Start building: choose Owloops as the app that starts the Zap and On Bird Fly Complete as the event, then pick the connection and the bird to listen to.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent flights of that bird, so you map the next steps on a real result rather than a guess.

  3. 03

    Add a filter (paid plan)

Optional. Pick a value from the flight, a rule and the value to compare it with, so the relay only goes on when it should. This makes the Zap multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add Fly a Bird

Choose Owloops again with Fly a Bird and set the Bird Name to the second bird. Pick a different bird from the one in the trigger, or the Zap feeds itself.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action once and read the results Owloops returns. When it looks right, click Publish. New to the editor? The Zapier training walks through it.

Triggers

Owloops trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Owloops, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

On Bird Fly Complete

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a bird completes a fly.”

Starts the Zap each time the bird you chose finishes a flight in Owloops, and hands its results to the steps that follow. One Zap listens to one bird, picked in the Bird Name box.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a bird collects data in the browser and you want that data saved, shared or acted on straight after the run.
Watch out
Bird Name is required, so a second bird needs its own Zap, and flights that ended before you published are never picked up.
Actions

Owloops action

Owloops gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Fly a Bird

Action

In Zapier“fly a bird and get the results”

Sends one of your birds off from Zapier and returns what it brought back, ready for the next step of the Zap. The only required box is Bird Name.

When to use it
a new row in a sheet or a new deal in your CRM should launch a browser routine without anyone clicking it.
Watch out
every successful flight is one task, so a busy trigger empties a free plan quickly.
When it breaks

When the Owloops Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Owloops, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks is what breaks on any Zap, and one case matters more here than elsewhere.

Four cases cover most surprises on this integration. If none matches what you see, head to Zapier troubleshooting.

  • A bird that flies itself, again and again

If Fly a Bird launches the same bird the trigger listens to, each flight starts the Zap, which starts another flight. The loop burns through your tasks fast.
  • Past flights never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Flights that ended before are not picked up; handling them is a separate job.
  • A burst of flights stalls

When the trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a mass run or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the Zap back.
  • The filter is refused on free

A Zap with a filter is multi-step. The free plan allows one trigger and one action, so drop the filter or move to a paid plan.

FAQ

Owloops and Zapier: the questions people ask

01Is the Owloops Zapier integration free?
Yes. Zapier does not reserve Owloops for paid plans, so it works on the free plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, but every Zap stops at two steps: one trigger and one action. A relay from On Bird Fly Complete to Fly a Bird fits inside it. If you add a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Because the trigger is instant, the slower free-plan check interval does not affect it.
02How many tasks does an Owloops Zap use?
One task for each Fly a Bird that succeeds, and nothing for the rest. On Bird Fly Complete never costs a task, however many flights end. A Fly a Bird that fails is not counted against your plan either. So a two-bird relay costs one task per completed flight of the first bird. If you add another action, say a message to your team with the results, each successful action counts separately, and every run then costs two tasks.
03Does Owloops trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. On Bird Fly Complete is an instant trigger: Owloops itself tells Zapier when a bird finishes a flight, so the Zap starts right away. The plan interval grid (15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise) only applies to polling triggers, and Owloops has none among its visible operations. That makes the free plan as fast as the paid ones on this trigger. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect Owloops to Zapier?
An Owloops account, and access to any bird you did not create yourself but want the Zap to use. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Owloops and click Add connection. A tab opens where you sign in to Owloops and grant Zapier access. The connection is stored once and reused by every Owloops step afterwards. Make sure at least one bird exists in the account, since both operations require a Bird Name.
05Why does an Owloops Zap keep running on its own?
Most often because the Zap flies the very bird it listens to. On Bird Fly Complete starts the Zap when a bird finishes; if Fly a Bird then launches that same bird, its next completion starts the Zap again, without end. Each lap is a successful action, so each lap costs a task. Open the Fly a Bird step and check the Bird Name: it must point to a different bird than the trigger. Until it is fixed, every lap keeps spending tasks.
06What if the Owloops operation needed is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Owloops today. The app page shows two visible operations, On Bird Fly Complete and Fly a Bird, read on version BrowserBirdCLIAPI@1.2.1 in October 2026. There is no search, no way to create or edit a bird, and no other event to listen to. Everything else is done inside Owloops. What stays open is building around these two: any app with a trigger on Zapier can fly a bird, and any finished flight can feed another app.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Owloops?
Judge by criteria, not reputation. On Zapier, Owloops offers one instant trigger and one action, works on the free plan and costs one task per successful flight. That suits a narrow need: launch a bird from another app, or push its results somewhere when it lands. It suits less if you need to search birds, edit them or react to other Owloops events, since Zapier offers none of that. Check whether the other tool exposes those operations for Owloops, and how it counts each run.
