OneWaySMS Zapier integrationAutomate OneWaySMS with Zapier.

The OneWaySMS Zapier integration does one job: it sends a text. You get 1 action, 0 triggers and 0 searches, so another app always starts the Zap and OneWaySMS delivers the message at the end. It works on the free plan, no upgrade needed.

Overview

What the OneWaySMS Zapier integration actually does

It links your OneWaySMS bulk SMS account to Zapier, so a text goes out when something happens in another app. OneWaySMS sits at the end of the chain: it only receives orders. It never starts anything, and it never looks anything up for you, so the logic of who gets which text lives elsewhere.

Three results people build with it. A confirmation text: a booking lands in a form or a sheet, and Send SMS Message confirms it to the customer's phone. A team alert: a new order or a new lead reaches the CRM, and the same action pings up to 10 phones at once, since the number field takes several numbers. A reminder: a date reached in a calendar tool sends a short text to the person concerned.

What Zapier does not do for OneWaySMS matters just as much. There is no trigger, so a reply or a delivery report never starts a Zap. There is no search either, so the Zap cannot check a contact list on the OneWaySMS side. Every number and every message has to come from an earlier step. In practice, the app that starts the Zap holds the contact list, the conditions and the wording, and OneWaySMS just does the delivery at the end.

If you are still choosing a tool, the Make vs Zapier comparison and the Zapier review are good places to start.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in plain words

Seven words come back on every page of Zapier. Here is what they mean before you open the editor.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. OneWaySMS offers none.
Action
What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Here, it sends the SMS.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan counts these and nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your OneWaySMS account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that sends through it.
Cost

What a text sent through Zapier costs you

The trigger costs nothing. Each Send SMS Message that goes through counts as one task, and a send that fails is not counted.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month
  • Steps on free2 (trigger + action)
  • Premium appNo
  • Failed sendNot counted

The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps: one trigger, one action. OneWaySMS is not a premium app, so it fits there. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. On the Zapier side, a send to several numbers in one Mobile Number field is still one action, so one task. Zapier's plans only cover Zapier: your OneWaySMS account is a separate matter.

Connect

Connect OneWaySMS to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need an existing OneWaySMS account before you start: Zapier links an account, it does not create one.

  2. 02

    Pick OneWaySMS

Type OneWaySMS in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab then opens on the OneWaySMS side so you can sign in to your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in with your OneWaySMS credentials and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection is then saved and every Zap that sends a text through this account reuses it.

First Zap

Your first Zap: text a new lead

GoalA new row in a sheet sends an SMS, only when the row carries a phone number.

  1. 01

    Build the start

Create a Zap and pick the app and event that start it, here a new row in a sheet. OneWaySMS cannot be this first step, as it has no trigger.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent rows of the connected account, so you map fields on a real one rather than an empty shape.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Add a Filter from the plus icon and let the Zap continue only when the phone column holds a value. This makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Send SMS Message

Pick OneWaySMS, choose Send SMS Message, map the phone column to Mobile Number and write the text in Message, mixing fixed words with fields from the row.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test the action once with your own number to read what comes back, then click Publish. From that point, only rows added after publishing will send a text.

Actions

The OneWaySMS action

OneWaySMS gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send SMS Message

Action

In Zapier“Sends an SMS message”

This sends a text from your OneWaySMS account to one or several phones, with the content you write or build from earlier steps. Up to 10 mobile numbers fit in the recipient field.

When to use it
confirming a booking, alerting a sales team about a new lead, or reminding a client of an appointment.
Watch out
both Mobile Number and Message are mandatory, and each number needs its country code in front.
When it breaks

When a OneWaySMS Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to OneWaySMS, so the traps below are the general ones that hit any Zap ending on a text.

They tend to surface once real data replaces your test row. If you are stuck, the Zapier troubleshooting page covers the common fixes.

  • Old records never get a text

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Contacts already in the sheet are not picked up; sending to them is a separate job.
  • The Zap loops on itself

If a later step writes back into the very place the trigger watches, the Zap starts itself again, burning through your task count fast.
  • A bulk import gets held back

When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of texting everyone.
  • The same row will not fire twice

Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so a row that already started the Zap does not start it a second time.

FAQ

OneWaySMS Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the OneWaySMS Zapier integration free?
Yes, on Zapier's side. OneWaySMS is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps: one trigger and one action. That is enough for a simple Zap where another app starts things and OneWaySMS sends the text. One thing changes that: adding a filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and a multi-step Zap needs a paid Zapier plan. Zapier's plans cover Zapier only, not your OneWaySMS account.
02How many tasks does each text use?
One task for each Send SMS Message that completes successfully. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and Zapier checking for new data costs nothing either, however often it looks. A send that does not go through is not counted against your plan. If your Zap has several actions, each successful one counts separately: a Zap that writes to a sheet and then sends a text uses two tasks per run. Be aware that a few apps and a few actions take more than one task when they complete, so read the plan details of any other app you add.
03Does OneWaySMS send texts in real time with Zapier?
The text goes out when the Zap reaches its action, so the delay depends on the trigger of the other app, not on OneWaySMS. With an instant trigger, the app reports the event to Zapier the moment it happens and the plan interval does not apply. With a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. To send a text fast, pick a starting app whose trigger is instant; the editor marks those Zaps with a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect OneWaySMS to Zapier?
An existing OneWaySMS account and its sign-in details. From the Apps page of Zapier, click + Add connection, search for OneWaySMS, click Add connection, then sign in to OneWaySMS in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The connection is saved once and reused by every Zap that sends through that account. If the account belongs to someone else, you also need their access to it. Prepare a test phone number of your own before you build the action.
05Why does a OneWaySMS text fail to go out?
The most frequent cause is the phone number. The Mobile Number field is mandatory and must include the country code, so a local number stored without it in the source app will not work. The Message field is mandatory too: an empty field mapped from a blank column leaves the action with nothing to send. Add a filter that lets the Zap go on only when the phone value exists, and fix the number format in the source app. Remember a filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
06What if the OneWaySMS operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it with OneWaySMS today. The integration offers a single action, Send SMS Message, with no trigger and no search. That rules out starting a Zap from an incoming SMS, a delivery report or a balance alert, and it rules out looking up contacts stored in OneWaySMS. The workable route is to keep the logic in the app that starts the Zap: the list of numbers, the conditions and the wording live there, and OneWaySMS only sends. If a missing operation blocks the whole project, it is worth comparing other tools before building.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for OneWaySMS?
Decide on criteria rather than on a ranking. On Zapier, the facts are clear: one action, no trigger, no search, and a free plan that covers a two-step Zap with 100 tasks a month. If that single send action matches your need, Zapier is the shortest path. If you need to react to incoming texts or check data on the OneWaySMS side, Zapier offers nothing for that, so look at what the other tools list for this app before choosing. Also weigh how many texts you send, since each successful send is a task.
