What the Opinion Stage Zapier integration actually does
Opinion Stage builds quizzes, forms and surveys, with AI help for the writing. Plugged into Zapier, it does one thing: every time someone submits a response, it hands that response to the next tool in line. Nothing more, and that is often all you need.
Three results you can get out of that single trigger, New Response:
A live response log. Each submission becomes a row in a spreadsheet, so the marketing team reads results without logging into Opinion Stage.
A heads-up for the right person. A filled lead form posts a message in your team chat, and sales can call back while the prospect still remembers the quiz.
A contact in your CRM. Survey answers create or update a record, so the next campaign can reuse what people told you.
The point of all three: nobody copies answers by hand any more, and each response reaches the person who can act on it.
What Zapier does not do for this app: it cannot create a quiz, edit a form, close a survey or look up older responses. There is no action and no search on the Opinion Stage side. It also ignores everything submitted before your automation was switched on. If those gaps matter, the Make vs Zapier and n8n vs Zapier pages are the place to weigh other tools.
The Zapier words this page uses
If you have never opened Zapier, these eight terms are enough to follow the rest.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run each time that event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts the Zap. Here, a new response in Opinion Stage. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in another app here.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer by Zapier. An instant one is reported by the app the moment it happens. New Response is instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
- Connection
- Your Opinion Stage account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap and every step that needs it.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap with more than one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs to run
Opinion Stage is not reserved for paid plans on Zapier, so it works from the free plan onward.
- Trigger cost0 task per response
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Paid plan neededNot for the app; yes for filters and extra actions
- New ResponseInstant on every plan
The trigger itself never costs a task: a response arriving is free. You pay for what happens next, one task per action that succeeds, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps only, one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap needs a paid plan. The polling grid below does not apply here, because New Response is instant whatever your plan.
Connect Opinion Stage to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page. That is where every linked account lives. Then click + Add connection to open the dialog where you pick an app.
- 02
Pick Opinion Stage
Type Opinion Stage in the dialog and select it. Click Add connection. You need an existing Opinion Stage account at this point; Zapier does not create one for you.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
A tab opens on Opinion Stage. Sign in with the account that owns your quizzes and surveys, then grant Zapier access. If the content belongs to a colleague, you need read access to it.
Your first Zap: survey responses that only reach sales when they matter
GoalSend qualified Opinion Stage responses to your team chat, and drop the rest.
- 01
Build: pick the trigger
Start a new Zap, choose Opinion Stage as the app and New Response as the event. Select your connection, then fill the required Item setting.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent responses from your account, so you map the next steps on real data rather than a guess.
- 03
Add a filter
Click the plus icon, choose Filter, then set the field to read, the rule and the value. Text rules only work on text. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan.
- 04
Add the action
Add your chat tool as the last step and map the response into the message. Test the step once and read what came back before going further.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every new response is checked by the filter. Responses submitted before that moment are not picked up.
Opinion Stage trigger on Zapier
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Opinion Stage, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Response
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new response submission is created.”
Starts your Zap each time someone submits an answer to one of your Opinion Stage quizzes, forms or surveys, and passes that submission to the steps that follow. It is the only door into Opinion Stage that Zapier offers.
When an Opinion Stage Zap breaks
Zapier publishes no help article dedicated to Opinion Stage, so the failures below are the ones that hit every Zap.
None of them shows up as a red error at setup time. They surface later, as missing rows or a task count that drops too fast. For a deeper diagnosis, see Zapier troubleshooting.
Old responses never arrive
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Responses collected before you published are ignored, and moving them over is a separate job.A loop that eats your tasks
If a later step writes back into the very place the trigger watches, the Zap sets itself off again and again, and the monthly task count melts.A sudden flood gets held back
When a trigger returns a huge batch at once, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can pause it instead of running everything. The filter never passes
Filter rules are typed. A number rule on a text answer, or the reverse, never matches, so the Zap stops at the filter every single time.
