Overview

What the ParcelPanel Zapier integration is for

ParcelPanel is a post-purchase tool built for Shopify brands that sell direct to consumers: it follows each order once it has shipped. Connected to Zapier, it becomes an alarm. Each time a shipment changes state, stalls, runs late or misses its expected delivery date, it can start a Zap in another app.

Three results come out of it in practice. A support team that hears about problems before the customer writes in: Shipment Stalled or Shipment Transit Delay posts a message where the team already works. A clean log of every delivery event: Shipment Status Updated adds a line to a spreadsheet, so operations can see which carrier causes trouble. A follow-up when a promise is broken: Post-Purchase EDD Expired opens a ticket in the help desk the day the expected delivery date passes without a delivery.

What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. ParcelPanel offers no action and no search on Zapier. A Zap cannot write anything into ParcelPanel, cannot change a tracking page, and cannot look up a shipment from another app. Information only flows out of ParcelPanel. Everything you do with it happens in the next tool of the Zap.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary, in plain words

Seven terms come back on every page about Zapier. Here they are once, in ordinary words.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for it. ParcelPanel offers five.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. With ParcelPanel, it always lives in another app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action the Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, at the moment of the event, so nothing waits for Zapier's next check. All ParcelPanel triggers are instant.
Polling trigger
The other kind: Zapier asks the app for new items at a fixed interval, and the interval depends on the plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Cost

What it really costs in tasks

ParcelPanel is not a premium app, so it runs on Zapier's free plan. You pay in tasks, and only on the side of the other app.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • ParcelPanel trigger0 tasks, instant on every plan

A ParcelPanel trigger never costs a task. What counts is each action that succeeds after it: one Slack message, one spreadsheet row, one ticket. A failed action is not counted. The free plan builds Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action, which fits most alerts. Add a filter, for example to keep only one carrier, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below does not apply here: instant triggers fire straight away on every plan.

Connect

Connect ParcelPanel to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You need a ParcelPanel account, with access to the store whose shipments the Zap should follow.

  2. 02

    Pick ParcelPanel

Search for ParcelPanel in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the ParcelPanel side to finish linking the two accounts together.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to ParcelPanel in that tab and allow Zapier to access the account. The connection then appears in your list, and every Zap built on ParcelPanel reuses it.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a stalled shipment alerts support

GoalEach shipment ParcelPanel flags as stalled posts a message in the support channel, so someone contacts the customer first.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Start a Zap, choose ParcelPanel as the app and Shipment Stalled as the event, then select your ParcelPanel connection, the one created above.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account, so you build the message on a real shipment rather than an empty sample.

  3. 03

    Add the action

Add Slack and Send Channel Message, choose the support channel, then map what came back from ParcelPanel into the text so the team knows which order to chase.

  4. 04

    Test the action

Run the step once and check the message landed in the channel and reads clearly. Adjust the wording now: this is what the team will see for every stalled parcel.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, every shipment ParcelPanel marks as stalled reaches the channel, on the free plan as on any other.

Triggers

The 5 ParcelPanel triggers

5 events start a Zap when something happens in ParcelPanel, and 5 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Post-Purchase EDD Expired

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when the post-purchase expected delivery date expires”

Starts a Zap when the expected delivery date of an order goes by, EDD standing for that date. It is the moment a customer starts to wonder where the parcel is, and usually the moment before they write to support.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
opening a follow-up ticket, or sending a short apology, the day the promised date passes.
Watch out
it only covers dates that expire after the Zap is published, never orders already overdue.
2

Shipment Stalled

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when the shipment is stalled”

Fires when ParcelPanel considers a shipment stuck, with no progress in its tracking. This is the quiet problem: nothing failed loudly, the parcel just stopped moving, and nobody notices until the customer does.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
alerting the support team in their chat tool, so someone checks with the carrier before the complaint arrives.
Watch out
the alert tells you the parcel stopped, not why, so the message should point the team to the carrier.
3

Shipment Status Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when the shipment status updates”

The broadest of the five: it starts the Zap on every change of a shipment's main status. Expect volume, since one order moves through several statuses between the warehouse and the doorstep.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
keeping a delivery log in a spreadsheet, or updating the order record in a CRM, so the whole team sees the same status.
Watch out
every status change costs one task per action, and on a busy store that adds up against the 100 tasks of the free plan.
4

Shipment Sub-Status Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when the shipment sub-status updates”

One level finer than the main status: the Zap starts each time the detail under a status changes. Useful when the main status is too coarse to act on and you need to know what exactly happened along the way.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
routing specific delivery incidents to the right person, once a filter keeps only the sub-statuses that matter.
Watch out
it fires even more often than the status trigger, so a filter quickly becomes necessary, and with it a paid plan.
5

Shipment Transit Delay

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Trigger when the shipment transit is delayed”

Reacts when a shipment in transit falls behind. Unlike the expired delivery date, it can warn you while the parcel is still on its way, which leaves time to manage the customer's expectations.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
sending the customer a heads-up email from your support tool, before they have to ask.
Watch out
a delayed parcel can later also stall or miss its date, so one order may start several Zaps.
When it breaks

When the Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to ParcelPanel and no app-specific limit is documented. The failures to expect are the ones every Zap can meet.

Four cases are worth knowing before publishing. None is specific to ParcelPanel, and each has a simple way around it. For anything stranger, the Zapier troubleshooting page goes further.

  • Past shipments are never picked up

A Zap only reacts to events that happen after it is switched on. Shipments that stalled or ran late before publishing stay out of it. Catching up on them is a separate job.
  • A burst of events gets held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the Zap back rather than run it on every item.
  • Several triggers, one order, many alerts

One late parcel can start Shipment Transit Delay, then Shipment Stalled, then Post-Purchase EDD Expired. Three Zaps on the same order means three messages and three tasks.
  • A filter that never lets anything through

Filter rules are typed: a text rule only works on text, a number rule only on numbers. Pick the wrong type and the Zap stops on every shipment without any error.

FAQ

ParcelPanel Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the ParcelPanel Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side. ParcelPanel is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks per month and unlimited Zaps. The catch is the size of the Zap. On the free plan a Zap has two steps, one trigger and one action. A stalled shipment that posts a message fits. Add a filter, to keep one carrier or one sub-status, and the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. You also need your own ParcelPanel account.
02How many tasks does a ParcelPanel Zap use?
The ParcelPanel trigger costs nothing. Each action that runs after it, and succeeds, counts as one task. A Zap that posts one message per stalled shipment therefore uses one task per stalled shipment. A failed action is not counted. Watch the broad triggers: Shipment Status Updated and Shipment Sub-Status Updated fire on every change, and each order goes through several. On the 100 tasks of the free plan, a busy store can run out before the month ends.
03Is ParcelPanel real time on Zapier?
Yes. All five ParcelPanel triggers are instant: ParcelPanel reports the event to Zapier itself, so the Zap starts straight away. The interval grid that applies to polling triggers, 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise, does not concern them at all. That is the useful detail for a small store on the free plan: alerts arrive just as fast as on a paid plan. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect ParcelPanel to Zapier?
A ParcelPanel account, with access to the store whose shipments the Zap should follow. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for ParcelPanel, click Add connection, then sign in to ParcelPanel in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. The connection is created once and reused by every Zap that starts with a ParcelPanel trigger. No ParcelPanel trigger asks for a required setting, so once connected you can pick an event and test it.
05Why does one late order send several alerts?
Because the five triggers overlap. A parcel that slows down can start Shipment Transit Delay, then Shipment Stalled if it stops moving, then Post-Purchase EDD Expired once the promised date passes. Each event starts its own Zap, and each Zap spends its own task. If you build several Zaps, decide which event deserves a message to the customer and which only deserves a line in an internal log. Otherwise the same order lands three times in the support queue.
06What if the ParcelPanel operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it with this app today. ParcelPanel offers five triggers and nothing else: no action to update a shipment or a tracking page, no search to look up an order from another tool. A Zap can react to ParcelPanel events, never write into ParcelPanel. If the need runs the other way, the answer lies outside this integration, on another platform for instance. Check the app page before building a Zap around a step that is not there.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ParcelPanel?
Choose on criteria rather than a ranking. On Zapier, the facts are clear: five instant triggers, no action, a free plan with 100 tasks and two-step Zaps, and alerts that arrive straight away on every plan. Check first whether the other platforms list ParcelPanel at all. Then weigh how many shipment events your store produces each month, whether you need filters to cut the noise, and who on the team will keep the flows running.
