Overview

What the Pete Zapier integration does for an investor

Pete is a platform for real estate investors: the place where you follow each property deal from first lead to closing, phase by phase. The integration plugs it into Zapier in two directions. Pete can start a Zap when a phase or status changes, and a Zap can create a new lead inside Pete.

Three outcomes are within reach. A pipeline alert: Phase/Status Updated starts a Zap whenever a deal moves, so the next step can tell your acquisitions partner or your title contact without anyone checking Pete. A progress log: the same trigger can write each change into a shared sheet, which gives you a running history of how deals move. And a lead intake: Create New Lead drops a seller lead into Pete from a website form, an ad or a call tracker.

The limits are just as clear. There is no search, so a Zap cannot check whether a property or a seller is already in Pete before it creates a lead. There is no action to update a deal or change its status from outside; Pete only reports those changes, it does not take them. And nothing that happened before the Zap went live is replayed.

Vocabulary

The Zapier vocabulary, explained once

A few Zapier words carry this whole page. Here they are in everyday terms.

Zap
An automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The app event that starts a Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for that event and does nothing until it arrives.
Action
The work a Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something so you do not have to.
Task
The unit on your Zapier bill: one action your Zap completes successfully. Plans are sized in tasks.
Instant vs polling trigger
An instant trigger is pushed to Zapier by the app on the spot. A polling one is fetched by Zapier on a fixed timer.
Filter
A step that only lets the rest of the Zap run when the incoming data meets a condition you set.
Connection
Your Pete account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Pete step in every Zap you build.
Cost

What a Pete Zap costs you

Zapier only bills actions that succeed. The Pete trigger itself costs nothing, no matter how many deals change phase in a month.

  • Pete trigger0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Filter or second actionPaid plan

A status change followed by one action is 1 task; with three actions it is three. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. Adding a filter or a second action makes a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns polling triggers only; the Pete trigger is instant, so none of it slows you down.

Connect

Connect Pete to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Go to your Zapier apps

Open the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need a Pete account, plus access to any deals you do not own but want the Zap to read or write.

  2. 02

    Select Pete

Search for Pete by name in the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Pete side so you can sign in there.

  3. 03

    Log in and authorize

Sign in to Pete in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved, and every Pete step in every Zap you build can reuse it, so you only do this once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: alert your partner when a deal reaches a key phase

GoalWhen a deal in Pete changes phase or status and meets your condition, a message reaches your acquisitions channel.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Pete as the app and Phase/Status Updated as the event, then pick the Pete connection you added earlier.

  2. 02

    Test on a real change

Run the test. Zapier returns the three most recent changes from the connected account; pick one so you map the next steps on real data.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, then set the field to watch, the rule and the value. The Zap is now multi-step and needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the message

Add Slack as the next app, choose the action that posts to a channel, and map the deal details from the trigger into the message.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action once and check what came back. If it reads well, click Publish to switch the Zap on. Each qualifying phase change now posts on its own.

Triggers

Pete triggers

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Pete, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Phase/Status Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a phase or status is changed.”

Whenever a deal in Pete changes phase or status, this trigger starts your Zap with that deal. It is the one window Zapier has into what happens inside your pipeline, so any Zap that reacts to Pete starts here.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a wholesaler who wants the disposition team pinged the minute a property goes under contract, rather than finding out at the next team call.
Watch out
it fires on any phase or status change, so if only one move matters, add a filter, which makes the Zap multi-step and requires a paid plan.
Actions

Pete actions

Pete gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create New Lead

Action

In Zapier“Creates New Lead in Pete.”

Adds a fresh lead to Pete, filled with details an earlier step brought in, so a motivated seller never waits in someone's inbox.

When to use it
a we-buy-houses form or a direct-mail landing page collects sellers, and each one should land in Pete right away.
Watch out
it creates without checking for duplicates, and each success uses 1 task.
When it breaks

When a Pete Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Pete and records no limit specific to it. The failures come from Zapier's general rules.

Three situations explain most surprises. When something else goes wrong, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to start.

  • Past phase changes never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Deals that moved before that are not replayed; catching up on them is a separate job.
  • The Zap triggers itself

If a Zap writes back into the very place its trigger watches, it can set itself off again and again and burn through your task count fast.
  • A bulk update gets held

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a mass import or a migration of deals, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.

FAQ

Pete and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Pete Zapier integration free?
Yes. Zapier does not reserve Pete for paid plans, so a free account can connect it and run Zaps. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and limits each Zap to two steps, one trigger and one action. Phase/Status Updated followed by one message fits. If you add a filter or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step, and that needs a paid plan. A phase-change alert or a lead intake both fit that shape.
02How many tasks does a Pete Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and none for the trigger. Phase/Status Updated is free however often your deals move. A Zap with one action costs 1 task each time it runs to the end, and a Zap with three actions costs three. A failed action is not counted against the plan. Busy pipelines are the thing to watch: every phase or status change starts the Zap, so a filter keeps the volume down.
03Does the Pete trigger run in real time?
Yes. Phase/Status Updated is an instant trigger: Pete tells Zapier the moment a phase or status changes, and the Zap starts straight away. The plan intervals, 15 minutes on Free and 1 minute on Team and Enterprise, only apply to polling triggers, so they do not affect Pete. A free account gets the same speed here as a paid one. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What does it take to connect Pete to Zapier?
A Pete account and a Zapier account, plus access to any deals you do not own but want the Zap to touch. The connection is three moves: open the Apps page in Zapier and add a connection, choose Pete in the dialog, then sign in to Pete in the new tab and grant Zapier access. From then on, every Pete step in every Zap reuses that connection. You link the account once, not once per Zap.
05Why does the Pete Zap run for changes nobody cares about?
Because Phase/Status Updated fires on every phase or status change, not on one in particular. Without a filter, each move of each deal starts the Zap and each completed action costs a task. Add a filter right after the trigger and let through only the change that matters to you. Keep in mind that a filter turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan. Without one, expect more runs than you need.
06What if the Pete operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Pete today. The visible list is one trigger, Phase/Status Updated, and one action, Create New Lead. There is no search, no deal update and no status change from outside. The usual workaround is to let Pete start the Zap and do the missing work in the app that receives the deal. If the step has to happen inside Pete, check what other automation tools list for Pete before you build around the gap.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Pete?
Decide by criteria, not by ranking. On Zapier, Pete gives you one instant trigger and one create action, and runs on the free plan inside two-step Zaps. If you want alerts on deal moves and leads flowing in, that covers it. If you need to search or update deals from outside, compare the Pete operations each tool offers before you commit, and weigh how many steps your Zap needs against each tool's plans.
