Overview

What the Petloop Zapier integration is good for

Petloop is a client app for pet trainers: the trainer and the dog owner keep their exchanges there, so files, pictures, clips and notes stop getting lost in a phone. On Zapier it offers a single move. It cannot start a Zap, but a Zap started elsewhere can create a training in Petloop.

That one action still covers useful ground. Here are three outcomes it can deliver. A booking that turns into a program: a client books a session in your scheduling tool, and Create Training sets up the matching training in Petloop with trainer, client, dates and service. A sale that opens a program: a package bought through your shop or payment tool starts a Zap that creates the training, so the client finds it ready. A form that onboards: an intake form about a new dog leads straight to a training record, without retyping.

What Zapier does not do for Petloop: there is no trigger, so nothing that happens inside Petloop can start a Zap. There is no search, no update and no delete; a training created by mistake has to be fixed in Petloop itself. And the trigger app only reacts to what happens after the Zap goes live.

Vocabulary

Zapier terms in plain words

The page uses a handful of Zapier words. Here is each one, once.

Zap
Your automation on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts a Zap. Petloop has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Create Training is one.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan counts tasks and nothing else.
Instant vs polling trigger
Instant: the app tells Zapier the moment the event happens. Polling: Zapier checks the app at a fixed interval set by your plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Petloop account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Petloop step in your Zaps.
Cost

What a Petloop Zap costs

Every training Create Training adds successfully is 1 task. The trigger of the other app costs nothing, and a failed action is not counted.

  • Trigger of the other app0 tasks
  • Each training created1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Filter or second actionPaid plan

The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps: one trigger and Create Training fits exactly. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Speed depends on the trigger app, not on Petloop: if that trigger is polling, Zapier checks it at the interval of your plan below; if it is instant, the grid does not apply. Either way, the check itself never costs a task.

Connect

Connect Petloop to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your Zapier apps

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need a Petloop account, plus access to any client or trainer records you do not own but want the Zap to write to.

  2. 02

    Choose Petloop

Search for Petloop by name in the dialog, select it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Petloop side, where you sign in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Petloop in that tab and allow Zapier to access the account. The connection is saved, and every Create Training step in every Zap reuses it, so you only do this once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: turn each training booking into a Petloop training

GoalWhen a client books a training session in Calendly and the booking matches your condition, Petloop creates the training.

  1. 01

    Start with the booking

Create a Zap and pick Calendly as the trigger app, with the event for a new booking. Connect your Calendly account when Zapier asks for it.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent bookings of the connected account, so you map Petloop's fields on a real one.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

From the plus icon, add Filter and set the field, the rule and the value. With this step the Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Create Training

Pick Petloop and Create Training. Fill the trainer and client emails, the dates, the service, the age type and a Zapier ID unique to the booking.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test the action once and check the training in Petloop. If it looks right, click Publish. Each new matching booking now creates its training.

Actions

Petloop actions

Petloop gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Training

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new training”

Sets up a new training in Petloop that links a trainer and a client over a period, for a given service, using details the trigger brought in.

When to use it
a dog trainer selling puppy courses wants each paid booking to open the client's training without manual entry.
Watch out
seven fields are required, including a Zapier ID you build yourself; Petloop relies on it to prevent duplicates, so give each training its own.
When it breaks

When a Petloop Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Petloop and lists no limit of its own for it. The failures come from Create Training's required fields and from Zapier's general rules.

  • Several trainings share one ID

Petloop uses the Zapier ID to prevent duplicate records. If you map a fixed value, or one shared by several bookings, trainings that should be distinct end up sharing one ID.
  • Past bookings never become trainings

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Bookings made before that are not picked up; creating those trainings is a separate job.
  • A bulk import is held back

When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.

FAQ

Petloop and Zapier: frequent questions

01Is the Petloop Zapier integration free?
Yes. Zapier does not reserve Petloop for paid plans, so a free account can connect it. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. A trigger from your booking tool followed by Create Training fits exactly. If you add a filter, for example to keep only training sessions, or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Petloop Zap use?
One task for each training Create Training adds successfully. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, however often it fires, and a failed action is not counted against your plan. A Zap with Create Training and one more action costs two tasks per run. With 100 tasks a month on the free plan, the count of trainings you create is the number to watch, not the count of bookings that come in.
03Is a Petloop Zap real time?
It depends on the trigger app, because Petloop has no trigger of its own. If that app offers an instant trigger, it tells Zapier the moment the event happens and Create Training runs right after. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it at your plan's interval: 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. The app page of the trigger app shows which kind it is.
04What does it take to connect Petloop to Zapier?
A Petloop account, a Zapier account, and access to any records you do not own but want the Zap to write to. The connection is three moves: open the Apps page in Zapier and add a connection, pick Petloop in the dialog, then sign in to Petloop in the new tab and grant access. You will also connect the trigger app, since every Petloop Zap starts somewhere else. Both connections are saved for later Zaps.
05What is the Zapier ID field in Create Training?
It is a required field you fill yourself, and Petloop uses it to prevent duplicate records. The safe choice is a value that is unique to each booking or order coming from the trigger, such as its own identifier. A fixed text, or a value shared by several events, makes different trainings look identical. Test the action with a real trigger item, then check in Petloop that a new training appeared before you publish.
06What if the Petloop operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Petloop today. The list is a single action, Create Training. There is no trigger, no search, no update and no delete, so nothing in Petloop can start a Zap and nothing already there can be changed from Zapier. The practical answer is to keep Petloop at the end of the Zap and let the tools around it do the rest, or check whether another automation tool lists more Petloop operations.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Petloop?
Choose by criteria, not by ranking. On Zapier, Petloop offers one action, Create Training, with seven required fields, and it works on the free plan inside a two-step Zap. If creating trainings from bookings or sales is the whole need, that covers it. If you need Petloop to start an automation, or to update trainings, compare the Petloop operations each tool lists, and weigh the steps your Zap needs against each tool's plans.
