Overview

What the Picsart Zapier integration does

Connecting Picsart to Zapier means images produced in one tool get edited by Picsart without anyone opening an editor. A Zap (the automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then the steps that follow) passes the image link along, and Picsart returns a processed version for the next step to use.

Three results you can count on. Clean product shots: Change or Remove Image Background takes the backdrop away, and Crop Image or Resize Image fit the result to your shop's format. Sharper, bigger pictures: Upscale, Ultra Upscale and Ultra Enhance raise the resolution of small or soft images, and Face Enhance restores portraits. Lighter pages: Compress Image for Web, PNG to WEBP and the other converters cut the weight before publishing.

What Zapier does not do here. Picsart has no trigger, so nothing inside Picsart can start a Zap, and no search to fetch an existing file. Every Zap begins in another app that already holds the image link. That link must be public: a file behind a login gives Picsart nothing to work on. A quick check is to open it in a private browser window.

If you are comparing platforms, the same app has a Picsart Make integration page, and there is n8n vs Zapier as well.

Vocabulary

Zapier terms, without the jargon

Eight words this page relies on, defined once.

Zap
Your automation on Zapier. One event starts it, then one or more steps run each time that event happens again.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. Picsart has none, so the trigger always comes from another app holding the image.
Action
The step that does the work after the trigger. All eleven Picsart operations are actions that return an edited image.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action completed successfully. Your plan includes a fixed number of them each month.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at an interval set by your plan.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself the moment the event happens. Nothing waits for a timer, whatever your plan.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops the run otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Anything beyond one trigger and one action. A second Picsart step or a filter makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Picsart Zap costs

Picsart is not a premium app on Zapier, so it runs on the free plan. You pay in tasks, one per Picsart edit that succeeds.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Zap size on FreeOne trigger and one Picsart action
  • PicsartNot a premium app, works on Free
  • Three edits per imageThree tasks

The trigger in the other app is free, however often Zapier checks it. Each Picsart action that works costs one task; a failed one is not counted. Chaining edits adds up fast: background removal, then crop, then compression is three tasks per image. The free plan stops at two steps, so any chain like that, or a filter, needs a paid plan. If the starting app uses a polling trigger, how often it is checked follows the grid below.

Connect

Connect Picsart to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

On the Apps page of your Zapier account, click + Add connection. A connection is your Picsart account linked once, then reused by every Zap that sends it images.

  2. 02

    Find Picsart

Search for Picsart in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need an existing Picsart account before this step goes through: Zapier does not create one for you.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Picsart in the tab that opens and allow Zapier to use the account. If a colleague owns the account, make sure your login has the rights to use it.

First Zap

Your first Picsart Zap: catalog-ready photos

GoalEach new product record in Airtable gets its photo cut out by Picsart, then compressed for the web, ready for the shop.

  1. 01

    Pick the starting app

In the Zap editor, choose Airtable and its new record event as the trigger, then connect the base where your team adds products with a photo link.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent records, so you map the Picsart steps on a real product rather than a placeholder.

  3. 03

    Remove the background

Add Picsart with Change or Remove Image Background, map the photo link into Image URL, and pick the output format, or leave it for PNG.

  4. 04

    Compress the result

Add Picsart again with Compress Image for Web and feed it the image returned by the previous step. Three steps make this a multi-step Zap: paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each Picsart step and open the files they return. When the cut-out and the weight look right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Actions

The 11 Picsart actions, by what they do

Picsart gives you 11 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Change or Remove Image Background

Action

In Zapier“Removes the background of an image.”

Removes the background from the picture at the link you provide and returns it in JPG, PNG or WEBP.

When to use it
a furniture seller receives showroom photos and wants each piece isolated for the online catalog.
Watch out
leave the format empty and the file comes back as PNG, so pick JPG or WEBP on purpose if your shop expects one.
2

Compress Image for Web

Action

In Zapier“Compress images for Web. We recommend using JPG or WEBP as the target format. Small preview image sizes can be compressed to as low as 40%, but for bigger images we don't recommend using compressions lower than 75%.”

Shrinks the file weight of a picture for websites, in JPG or WEBP, at the compression level you set.

When to use it
blog images from your design tool slow down article pages.
Watch out
the default is 90; small previews can go as low as 40%, but large images should not drop under 75%.
3

Convert Image Format

Action

In Zapier“Convert images to a different format.”

Turns an image into JPG, PNG or WEBP, whatever format it arrived in.

When to use it
a form collects uploads in mixed formats and your site only accepts one.
Watch out
without a target format, the result is JPG, whatever your site actually wanted.
4

Crop Image

Action

In Zapier“Crop images to the height and width you specify.”

Cuts a picture down to the width and height you set, keeping only that frame, and saves it in the format you choose.

When to use it
a marketplace demands square listing photos and suppliers send every shape imaginable.
Watch out
width and height are both mandatory, and the format defaults to JPG.
5

Face Enhance

Action

In Zapier“With our enhance face tool, you can turn your old, blurry photos into clear portraits and selfies. Our AI technology will find faces, perform restoration and do color enhancement simultaneously. It will improve the skin texture and sharpen details while keeping a good balance of realness and fidelity with much less artifacts.”

Finds the faces in a photo and restores them with AI, sharpening detail and improving color in one pass.

When to use it
a school yearbook team receives blurry selfies and wants presentable portraits.
Watch out
only the image link is required; there is nothing to tune, so test on a few photos first.
6

PNG to JPG

Action

In Zapier“Convert PNG images to JPG. Define JPG compression to control the optimization level.”

Converts a PNG file into a JPG in a single step, with nothing else to set up.

When to use it
screenshots exported as PNG are too heavy for a help-center article.
Watch out
only the image link is required, so test with a logo and a photo before switching the Zap on.
7

PNG to WEBP

Action

In Zapier“Convert PNG images to WEBP. Define WEBP compression to control the optimization level.”

Turns a PNG into a WEBP file, with the image link as its only required setting.

When to use it
a landing page carries large PNG illustrations and loads slowly on mobile.
Watch out
compare the output weight with the original after the first test, before converting a whole library.
8

Resize Image

Action

In Zapier“Resize images to the height and width you specify.”

Scales the whole picture to the width and height you type, rather than trimming it, then exports it as JPG, PNG or WEBP.

When to use it
your newsletter template expects one banner size and the design team exports at another.
Watch out
with no format chosen, the result comes back as JPG.
9

Ultra Enhance

Action

In Zapier“Ultra enhance is a new upscaling technique with a generative model which provides high frequency detail. It works well on images without noise and preserves details in a superior way.”

Upscales with a generative model that adds fine detail, using a factor between 2 and 16, with 2 by default.

When to use it
clean studio shots need extra detail for zoomable product views.
Watch out
it is meant for images without noise; grainy photos are a poor match.
10

Upscale

Action

In Zapier“The upscale service increases the resolutions of an image by a given upscale factor, without increasing its file size. Upscale increases the quality and resolution of your photos by leveraging predictive and generative AI to add pixels to your image. It works especially well on images without noise.”

Raises the resolution of an image by a factor between 2 and 8, adding pixels with AI without growing the file size.

When to use it
user-submitted photos are too small for print and need more pixels before going to the printer.
Watch out
the default factor is 2, and it works best on images without noise.
11

Ultra Upscale

Action

In Zapier“Increases the quality and resolution of an image by adding and enhancing pixels.”

Enlarges a picture with a factor from 2 up to 16, adding and enhancing pixels to lift both quality and resolution.

When to use it
an archive of old thumbnails has to fill full-width hero banners on a redesigned site.
Watch out
each enlargement is a separate task, so batch archives carefully.
When it breaks

When a Picsart Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Picsart, so the cases below come from the action settings and from limits that apply to every Zap.

Most failures happen before Picsart even sees the image: a link it cannot open, a chain the plan refuses, a Zap that feeds itself. For the general method, see Zapier troubleshooting.

  • Private image links

Every Picsart action needs a public-facing image link. A file in a private folder, or behind a sign-in, leaves the action with nothing to process and the run fails.
  • Upscale factor out of range

Upscale accepts a factor between 2 and 8; the two other enlargement actions go up to 16. Keep any value mapped from an earlier step inside those bounds.
  • Unexpected output format

Crop Image, Resize Image and Convert Image Format return JPG when the format box is left empty, while background removal returns PNG. Set the format on purpose.
  • The Zap that feeds itself

If the Zap writes the edited image link back to the table its trigger watches, it can start again and again and drain your tasks.
  • Old images are not processed

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Pictures already stored in the starting app are left as they are.
  • Two-step limit on Free

A second Picsart action or a filter turns the Zap multi-step. On the free plan, it stays off until you move to a paid plan.

FAQ

Picsart Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Picsart Zapier integration free?
Yes, on Zapier's side. Picsart is not a premium app, so its eleven actions work on the free plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is limited to two steps: a trigger in another app and one Picsart action. Removing a background and then compressing the result is two actions, which makes the Zap multi-step and requires a paid plan. Your Picsart account and its own conditions are handled separately.
02How many tasks does a Picsart Zap use?
One task per Picsart action that succeeds, for every image. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and Zapier checking for new items is free too. A Zap that only converts PNG to WEBP uses one task per image. One that removes the background, crops and compresses uses three. A failed action is not counted, so a private link does not cost you a task, though you end up without the edited image.
03Does Picsart work in real time with Zapier?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, since Picsart has no trigger. If that app offers an instant trigger, it alerts Zapier the moment the event happens and your plan's interval does not apply. With a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. Once the Zap starts, the Picsart action runs as the next step.
04What does it take to connect Picsart to Zapier?
A Picsart account, and rights to use it if it belongs to someone else. From the Apps page of your Zapier account, add a connection, search for Picsart, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. Beyond the connection, every action requires an image URL that points to a public-facing picture, so the app that starts the Zap must store its images at links anyone can open, without signing in.
05Which upscale factor can Picsart use?
It depends on the action. Upscale accepts a factor between 2 and 8. The two other enlargement actions, the upscale and enhance variants built on a generative model, both go from 2 up to 16. All three default to 2 if you do not change it. Upscale and the generative enhancer are described as working best on images without noise, so grainy photos may disappoint. Start with the default factor in a test, look at the result, and only then raise it for the images that need more.
06What if the Picsart operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier does not offer it right now. Picsart exposes eleven actions there, covering background removal, enlargement, enhancement, compression, resizing, cropping and format conversion, with no trigger and no search. Nothing else can be added from the Zap editor. The Picsart page on zapier.com lists what the app currently offers. If the missing piece is the starting event, look at the other app in your workflow, since it is the one that must provide the trigger.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Picsart?
Use criteria rather than a ranking. On Zapier, Picsart works on the free plan, but only in two-step Zaps, billed one task per successful edit. If your process chains several edits per image, count the tasks per image and the paid plan that implies. Then compare what each platform's own catalog offers for Picsart before deciding, because the operations available are not the same from one tool to the next.
